On a serious note I do think it will be ported to our device.
OK take me for a blizzard. I just finished dinner.
Quit making me hungry
Because ICS will be optimized for both tablets and phones, I think we'll begin to see a lot more tablet support from Cyanogenmod.
Speaking of which, I'm looking at buying an a500, and I was trying to find out if there is either a beta, or an unofficial CM port, but when I searched this forum for cyanogenmod I got 0 hits. Is search broken, or am I missing something? From what I've read, the bootloader lock was cracked, so why is no one on the whole a500 forum talking about CM?
I am not 100 % sure but I think cm is still on 2.3.whatever whereas we are on 3.x.x

I think that we may see an official update through Acer depending on the requirements Google has for the hardware part of ICS.
I also believe that CM will most likely stay exclusive to phones. Although ICS will support both phones and tablets, I don't see CM moving away from making custom Roms for phones.
However, I do hope that the CM team will be willing to try something new seeing as the ICS code should be very similar for both Tablets and Phones.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

not as of yet but there's an awesone ICS theme on the market that works perfectly over CM ¬B^¬N.
This was discussed in depth in several different threads go here http://www.motorola.com/blog/2011/10/24/ice-cream-and-bootloaders-and-motorola-–-oh-my/. Most likely it will not recieve ics but click the link and keep checking it. Or if u dont feel like clicking it heres what it says.. A note about Ice Cream Sandwich: We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR™ by Motorola, Motorola RAZR™, Motorola XOOM™ and DROID BIONIC™ by Motorola to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices
I dont understand why the atrix shouldnt get the 4.0 update when we have great top shelf specs but i bet the sensation will get it and we have the same processor speed but the atrix has more ram so were more then capable of running 4.0 but i guess because the atrix 2 is out thats a shame will we get it with cyanogen tho?
Yes we will get it with cm9 its an officially cyanogenmod supported device but the atrix 2 kay not even get it. But both might as well not anytime soon though. They want too release new devices with ics so people will buy them and they make more money. They dont make money updating current phones too ics
Still no GB here in UK & I doubt it ever will - So no chance ICS.
Motorola are too lazy & want you to buy a new phone with each software update - So I am gonna do that - I'm getting the Galaxy Nexus. Stuff moto
I don't think most of us are too concerned about an "official" ICS from Moto..but rather getting a port of some sort.
1. Wrong section.
2. There are many threads about this already.
3. Please view motorola's official website about upgrades for future reference.
4. Motorola only stated that 4 devices, excluding Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 will get ICS but did also mentioned that it is possible that other devices MIGHT be added to this list.
5. CM9 can get us a port but the drivers will not be optimized for ICS as Motorola has to optimize them for ICE first. Therefore, even if we get a ported version it won't work at it's full potential.
6. Please close this thread.
7. Happy Halloween.

It's official! CyanogenMod 9 is coming to the eeePad Transformer!
CM 9 Progress Update
We’ve been hard at work on CM9 since Google released Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) into the wild last month, and things are slowly starting to come together. Google did a great job with ICS and added some really awesome features which in some cases replace or deprecate functionality that we had in CM7, so we are reevaluating all of our customizations. A number of devices are already up and running with CM9, and the focus is currently on getting as many devices ready as we can. The first devices (besides the Nexus S, which you can already get from Koush’s section on ROM Manager) that we’ll have ready will mostly likely be devices based on OMAP4, MSM8660/7X30, and Exynos. We also have some Tegra2 tablets in the pipeline such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Transformer. Our goal is to provide continued support to all CM7 devices back to the QSD8250 series of devices such as the Nexus One. I don’t want to make any promises at this time, but that is the plan. And sorry Droid1 owners, we’re dropping support for you. Time to upgrade
There are a number of challenges that we are up against. Google has made some pretty major changes to the Android framework that break compatibility with older proprietary camera and graphics drivers in order to achieve some pretty insane performance, but I am confident that the team will be able to overcome these issues like we have in the past.
For those of you who like to build CM from source yourself, you probably know that the spin-up time when starting a CM7 build is absurdly long due to the high number of devices in our repository. Koush and Arcee have put together a solution to this problem that adds new devices on-demand to your local repository, saving on both bandwidth and the long startup time. Some other great enhancements are coming too, like a completely overhauled music app, a new file manager, and a new launcher based on stock 4.0.
If you have a Nexus S, you can check out the code and build for yourself today. More devices are on the way, and I’ll send out these status updates as we make more progress

Exactly what I was thinking. I love Prime and the work roach has been doing, but when I can get CM on the tablet, I will go running.
what's the advantage of CM vs Prime rom ?
Its Vanilla ICS. Most stable best battery life and best performance.
You have to try it to actually realize the differance. Which is like day and night

It'll be interesting to see what the difference is. CM is usually better than stock firmware sure so being as lean and cut-back as possible while still adding in extremely useful features.
Asus have done a great job of keeping their firmware bloat-free though, so it may not be too different, performance-wise. The biggest advantage will probably come from extended support. Asus probably won't upgrade the TF101 past 4.0 - having CM pretty much ensures that it will get every version of Android in the future so long as somebody is interested in getting it running.

A lot of the "bloat" Asus has added is incredibly useful. Polaris Office is really nice, and unavailable if Asus didn't include it. Same with Supernote, which is pretty good for free. Splashtop, again, expensive software included for free.
The **** I hate is them bundling things like Netflix... it's freely available on the market, and only available in select regions, why on earth would you bundle that?

Considering, from a hardware standpoint, how similar the Note and the 7.7 are, has anyone thought to maybe make a Honeycomb 3.2 ROM for the Note based off of a 7.7 build?
Can this be done? What are the implications? What are the technical hurdles? Is it worth it?
Thoughts and comments appreciated, and perhaps developer intrigue would be a bonus!

Exactly my point! Since the 7.7, specifically the P6800, (which I own btw and it is fantastic) is a fully functioning phone in every respect, why couldn't we make a Note compatible port of its ROM?
I mean, I'm sure that once the Note does officially receive ICS, it'll be 5 minutes before someone here changes the DPI setting so that we'll effectively have full blown tablet ICS running on the Note, which is going to be awesome of course! But who knows how long that will take before we actually get ICS?
Hence my whole reasoning behind creating this post in the first place.
With Honeycomb running on the 7.7, you really do have the best of both worlds; you have a true tablet (I say this because, having used both devices, I really feel that the Note is more of a huge phone than a small tablet), and it just so happens that that tablet can double as your phone! Brilliant!
Thus, I think it would be awesome to bring Honeycomb (assuming it's even possible) to the Note. You would be able to take advantage of native hardware acceleration for the UI, as well as getting the benefit of a full tablet OS on your device, and all without sacrificing your ability to make and receive normal phone calls and SMS/MMS.
The ics Cyano ROM came about only after a leak. I doubt we will see a leak of HC as all efforts of Samsung are on the ics. And no developer would build from scratch a ROM with the ics a few weeks.
Cool idea but it will not happen.
OTOH I would love to see ics parts transferred to out GB . Gmail and browser, but they are depending on kernel, so that will not happen either.

True, but the CM9 ROM for the Note is an AOSP build, which is why so many things aren't working, due to hardware driver issues and such.
With a potential HC 3.2 port from the 7.7, considering the hardware similarities, that could be maybe easier and quicker to do? I'm not a dev, so I don't know... That's kinda why I was hoping for some thoughts and opinions from a ROM cooker or dev.
Here's to hoping!
Not worth it. Honeycomb is dead, and all tablets will get ICS. It's a waste of time, and we should concentrate on ICS.

I guess... At the very least, I wonder if it's possible to cannibalize the HC drivers from the 7.7 to work with the CM9 Alpha for the Note?

Nope, sadly. I'd like to keep this tab for awhile longer and it would be nice if Samsung showed up Apple and keeps updating it (and other recent Galaxy devices) for at least one more version. But, nah. Maybe it will be easier for someone to port 4.1 when the 4.0 source eventually gets out?
But if not...**** it, who cares. A few interface tweaks and some nice features, but the 7.7 will still be highly usable with ICS, I would say.
Theoretically the binary blob drivers that come with ICS source should be able to be used in JB builds? I'm guessing
The main obstacle in current ICS dev is lack of ICS drivers esp as they are closed sammy blobs

I was thinking the same thing. And hoping it is indeed the case.
Not sure if I am alone on this and I am sure I will probably get a lot of heat. Our 7.7 has been out close to a year now (correct me if I am wrong) and I am a bit sad that there isn't much development on this tab. I keep an eye on the development section and so far all there is is the following: custom rom based on ICS, straight CM9, straight CM10, Nexus 7 based on CM10, Paranoid based on CM10 and one other one and guess what based on CM10. So that's 2 based on ICS and 4 based on JB but 5 of them are CM builds. To some people 6 custom roms seem to be a good thing but in reality there are only 2. I don't count all the different flavors of CM as an individual rom because it's the basic rom and devs just put their own spin on it. Now I am not putting down any of the CM team and I know CM is a very popular rom but why isn't anyone else coming up a JB rom that is NOT based on CM. I have tried 3 different versions of the CM flavor ROMS and there are many issues. Now I have addressed those issues in their respective threads and have been told many times before that this is just how CM has built and either I use it or not, that's all good and no problem, but not happy about it at the same time.
I would just like for someone to come out with a JB rom that is NOT based on any CM build as too keep all functions working PROPERLY. Maybe the lack of development is because there aren't many 7.7 units available in the USA (I am not counting the Verizon model as the majority are all imports) and their current price is a big drawback. Now that the Nexus 7 will be released with 3G and will probably be more affordable than our 7.7 I predict that development will surely die out and people will jump straight to the Nexus 7 with 3G and us current owners will be left on the dark unless and official JB update is released (I doubt it).
This is my rant and my opinion please respect it, once again I am not here to disrespect anyone and applaud your support for this device even if there isn't much.
