Multitasking kind of choppy when swiping closed, compared to Nexus? - Galaxy S III General

I am coming from a Galaxy Nexus and EVERYTHING so far on the GS3 is faster, like noticeabley faster. Except for the multitasking bar that you bring up with the home button.
On my Nexus when I swipe closed apps they fly off really smooth. On the GS3 there seems to be some choppiness to it, or maybe it's just animated differently.
Not a huge deal, but a little annoying. Anyone else notice this coming from a Nexus?
Edit: Swiping closed might not be the best way to put it, but swiping off the screen is what I mean.

Unlock screen lag

Anyone notice when you swipe to unlock the screen it's noticeably laggy?
Same with swiping across screens...
Any reason for why this is?
Actually I've had the opposite experience. I've noticed a big improvement in the touchscreen compared to my previous Nexus One. And the device has a nice speed to it.
Opposite for me too.. the unlock lag is nothing compared to the Nexus, even on CM6.
So when your guys screen is locked and you swipe the lock to the right to unlock, it's smooth? I'm talking about the part your finger follows.
Yes completely smooth. I would compare my touchscreen to the iPhones in relation to its responsiveness.
Hmmm maybe a hard reset would fix it?

I've experienced the same lag that you are talking about. The unlock slider seems to lag behind my finger as I drag it over the screen, not smooth at all.

everything about the homescreen on the droid 2 is laggy, go from that to adw.launcher or launcher pro and it is so much smoother. and the lock screen is decently laggy as well.
Same here. Moto launcher and home screen are unnecessarily laggy.
Makes the whole phone experience seem slow.
Same here. I went back and forth between LauncherPro and ADW and ADW won... and now it's perfectly smooth.
Why can't Moto just give us the damn stock launcher as an option?
I suppose I can't complain too much... at least they allow switching launchers at all.
I just put launcher pro plus and all is well. Damn lock screen lag is still there though

Snapyness or slugishness

I am aware there are many posts about slugishness of the Tab 10.1, especially when changing desktops or pages in the apps drawer. But, today I have accidently touched edge of the screen and realized that I can change desktops that way. And you now what, there is no slugishness at all. It's fast and snappy as it should be. Same thing aplies to apps drawer.
Have you guys spotted this before, and do you have explanation of what is going on? I'm not programmer but it seems to me that sweep over the touch clobbers the system. Any thoughts?
I didn't know that and you're right, it's much quicker and smoother.
Good find.

It's faster because there is no "transition" animation...it simply destroys the current screen and redraws the one you tap to, rather than drawing both and calculating perspective angles as you move from one to the other with a normal swipe. It's doing something like less than half the work to tap to an adjacent screen.
I was thinking the same but there is somekind of animation. Because it is so fast it is hard to say with naked eye if it is different. It doesn't seem to me like destroy and redraw...
So the problem is in the launcher?

Non sticky scrolling in the browser ruins browsing experience

I brought this issue up a few times already but either people dont care or dont notice it. For me this issue is a real dealbreaker and im very sad it made its way into ICS.
The problem I'm talking about is not the slower scrolling many people complain about! I'll try to explain the issue as good as possible and hope more people notice it and maybe find a workaround..
It started with xila2 (not sure about the ICS leaks as i didn't care much fir them) they changed the way scrolling behaves, it did feel smoother but messed up vertical scrolling in some apps but most noticable in the browser.
All versions before xila2 like kk5 would let you LOCK ON to text in the browser so if you scroll vertically it will NOT wobble left and right it would kinda stick to the text and you can flick up and down and dont have to worry about flicking perfectly straight. This made browsing extremely comfortable and fun.
Since xila2 they changed all that and it also made its way into the official ICS rom. Now it will NOT lock on the text anymore and when you doubletap a text and scroll, it will wobble around left and right. Also if you flick vertically now it will most likely bump into the left or right side. There is no option to change that in the browser and sadly 3rd party browsers behave the same so its probably in the code? Chrome does seem slightly better but lags and isnt as polished so its not an option..
This issue is driving me nuts and really destroys the browsing experience that used to be the best on any smartphone out there...
Whats more I really dont know why there are not more people complaining about this.. Anyway I really hope there is a way around this because I really like ICS especially the nova launcher..

The recent apps/multi-tasking menu is sluggish/choppy/slow and it's annoying.

I'm coming from a GSM Galaxy Nexus. I loved that phone...I mean it was borderline weird how much I loved that phone. lol Anyway, I like this phone more. It's blazing fast, the hardware is better in every regard...it's just awesome. Which is why I find it incredibly annoying how sluggish the recent apps menu is. It's sluggish when it comes up and the screen fades, and swiping apps off the menu bar is just sort of sluggish and not fluid like it was on the Nexus.
I've tried it on my friends Int version and on my AT&T version, it performs the same on both. I'm curios if anyone else coming from a Nexus notices this?
I don't know why it bugs me so much (first world problems) but it really just seems like it should be fluid considering how much faster this phone is that my GN (on ICS, sold it before JB)
I actually just remove all apps when I use it just so they vanish fast and I don't have to witness the slow animation of swiping apps off the screen. Unlike my GN it does seem to swipe the apps off faster based on how fast I use my finger, but it still doesn't have the fluidity that my previous precious had.
Just ranting, chime in if you want.
I think is much because of the hold Down on the home button if you run aokp and add the nav bar is faster, also make sure you turn off s Voice double click

Thanks, yeah I disabled S-Voice.
Actually not related to the home button as it does the same thing using nova launcher recent apps short cut

I guess this isn't a common complaint for most of you.
Maybe it's me, but mine seems good. Def not as fluid as my buds Jb Gnex but fluid enough.

its fine for me. could it be smoother? sure. not worst wasting my keystrokes on making a post about it. itll get better with custom roms ESPECIALLY JB roms

Phone is a little laggy and freezes

So this is my fifth day with the galaxy S4 and I've observed it to be laggy and it freezes from time to time. I've read others saying the same and I'm hoping Samsung does a software update soon. What are your opinions and are their things I can do to make the experience better?

Disabling Air View, Air Gesture, Smart Stay, Smart Scroll, freezing some bloat (including Samsung Link) have seemed to help me a little.
Overall though, it is definitely more choppy than I feel a phone of its caliber should be. I imagine its some stupid simple (CPU governor, some rogue bloatware, etc.) - I hope a remedy is found soon
Install Nova launcher and override the transition animations with either slide or ICS. That takes care of the stutters when opening and closing apps.

Also under development options turn animations off and force gpu rendering, see if that helps you.
Disable a bunch of features, replace launcher and then disable animations and hope that stops the lag. Not good enough Sammy. Not good enough

I've read that 4.2.2 has it's own lag issues on top of those introduced by TouchWiz. I use all the "Smart", "View" features and while I notice some lag here and there I feel these features are worth it. I really enjoy the Gesture scrolling in the stock browser, that makes people go, "Wha???". The only place I feel lag should NOT occur is in the keyboard, which is especially poor on the S4.
But all-in-all, I feel the features Samsung has added are worth the 1 to < 1 Sec lag I get here and there. Also, I've noticed freezing Samsung stuff can actually have an opposite effect. I have all Samsung stuff enabled/unfrozen and only froze the AT&T stuff, I get best battery life and response that way.
