Small Success Story - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I was on with Kingdroid V2.0 with S3 addon. Kernel Speedmod#3.3.
I flashed Criskelo V7 as follows- None of the steps belongs to me-All gathered from this forum, thanks to concerned member/s.
1- download AbyssNote kernel 4.2 (for CWM), Criskelo V7.ROM in SdCard
2- reboot to recovery mode and install AbyssNote V4.2 original touch
3- don't leave recovery , Go back to advanced then reboot recovery
NOW THIS IS TOUCH SCREEN ONLY (buttons will not work)
4- wipe data/factory reset…yes--delete all user data
5- wipe cache partition…yes--wipe cache
6- go to advanced and wipe dalvik Cache…yes--wipe dalvik cache
7- Go back
8- go mount and storage
9- format /cache…yes--format
10- format /system…yes--format
11- format /data…yes--format
12- Go back
Now Flash Criskelo V7 Rom
After installation completed, the phone automatically rebooted into CriskeloRom. Working Nice. About the Phone-Build Number IML74K.XXLQ3 Kernel [email protected]#3.Rom Version CriskeloRom Note ICSv07.
Now I would like to know whether shall I keep this kernel or flash kernel speedmod #3.3 over this kenel. suggestions are appriciated.

Ask the dev which kernel it is.
I think it probably is CF Root kernel.

CM7 vs CM9 kernel

Hello,
I have old Defy with Bayer module. Which software is better for me? I heard that GB kernel has a bug - full CPU thortle. But when it happens ? Does CM9 have any other bugs ? And is it possible to record videos on this?
Thank you for answers !
Hi,
which Kernel is better is related to the software you are using. But you can't be wrong to use the CM7 Kerner with Quarx newest builds. If you want to use Cyanogenmod 9 I would also recommend you to stay on Froyo-Builds, it causes less problems with the camera.
Im of course considering proper kernel for proper CM7 version.
If you use CM7, I see no reason to change to a GB-Kernel-Version, cause it makes nothing better. In additional the newest nighties are made by Quarx for the Froyo-Kernel. See on ge. tt/8rDd1nC
Edit: No space between the dot and the t
But I've heard that GB kernel is much faster... This problem with max CPU use is problem of soft and will be never fixed on this kernel ?
kernel doubt
hi sorry to bother you
i flashed cm7.1.0-rc1.5-jordan-signed.zip a couple months ago, working fine.
i've been wanting to try out the new cm9 builds.
mi kernel version is [email protected]# 1 i dont know if this "froyo kernel" o "gingerbread kernel"
1_which rom sould i flash... quarx (29 jan) or epsylon3 ( 31 jan)?
2_do i need to flash another kernel previously?
3_what steps do i need to take to flash it?
4_will i be able to downgrade back to froyo 2.2.1 or at least my current cm7 ?
thanks a million

1) both roms use froyo kernel, so you can try anyone.
2) you don't have to flash any kernel, cm7 uses froyo kernel aswell
3) I've just flashed 31Jan, I was using cm7 previously. What i did:
-reboot, when the motorolla logo displays, wait for the blue led to show and then press volume down.
-then you go to recovery, latest recovery. (I highly recomend to do a backup (nandroid) before wiping data)
-wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache.
-install from zip file, and choose either 29jan or 31jan zipfile. (remeber 31jan has gapps included, if you go for 29jan you should install gapps too)
-wipe cache.
-go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
-reboot!
First time to boot will take some minutes.
4) If you want to get back to cm7, just recover your backup (nandroid) or follow the same steps in 3) but installing cm7 zipfile.
Hope it helps you, if any more experienced user finds an error in what i've said, please correct me.

Thanks for the correction, but I've just came back to CM7 by restoring my old nandroid, without wipe and worked well.
camera doesn't work.and some small bugs

[Q] Custom ROM, kernel and recovery

Hey everyone!
I would like to flash P.A.C.-MAN ROM on my phone, and also a new kernel, and I need some help with that.
As of right now, I am rooted with DjEmbey's root-method, and have BusyBox and SuperSU installed. I have a regular i9505, XXUAME2, 4.2.2, official device status and all Know related items removed. Do I need to do some kind of updating of my device, before doing any flashing, or do I only have to wipe /data, cache etc.?
I've read some in the P.A.C. Q&A thread on how to flash a custom recovery. But before I flash a new recovery, should I format /data, cache and Dalvik cache? I've heard people recommend TWRP over CWM, is it more stable or have better functionality, is TWRP compatible with P.A.C.?
For a new kernel, I've thought about this one. Is it compatible with P.A.C. ROM?
After I've flashed a custom recovery, should I always format /data, cache, Dalvik cache and fix permissions, before and after every kind of flashing?
Is BusyBox and (or) SuperSU reserved when flashing a new ROM and kernel, will it be included in P.A.C. or do I have to install it manually?
Thanks in advance for all answers
There are plenty of guides and Google is your friend.
Flash recovery via Odin. I use CWM never had a problem. If your nervous about flashing get the SGS4 flasher and flash recovery through the app. Then reboot and jump into recovery volume up + home button + power ( let go of the power button once you see the screen turn on). Do a full wipe cache davlik. I also go to mounts and format /system. Then install your ROM from the SD card. Good luck.
Echoe ROM. Rock Solid. Stable. Blazingly Fast with Adam Kernel.

[Q] Can't upgrade JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf

Hi, my Defy (Green Camera) is stuck on JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf - strange chineese Eclair ROM - screenshot here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27590063&postcount=4.
I installed it after my battery died during updating Cyanogen to newer version - I panicked a bit and needed working phone asap, so I used mcGyver hack and flashed it with RSD Lite as I found in some guide.
Now I want to install any better system on top of it (it's real crap - all google apps crashes immediately for example) Cyanogen 10+ would be best.
There are some similar threads, but they wanted to downgrade system, not upgrade.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14762402&postcount=143 - I didn't tried it yet as download pages
looks suspicious. //edit: downloading it, but it's really slow.
I've also read:

What I tried to do so far is:
I. Rooting phone with SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse
II. Installing SndInitDefy_1.4_2.apk
III. One of following:
a)
1) Go to Custom Recovery.
2) Wipe data/factory reset, wipe Cache and go to Advanced ► Wipe dalvik.
3) Go to install zip from sdcard ► Choose zip from sd card.
4) Flash cm-10-20131030-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip
6) Wipe Cache and Dalvik again
7) Restart.
It didn't boot in 10 minutes (Motorola logo) so I flashed sbf again and returned to I.
b)
1) Go to Custom Recovery.
2) Wipe data/factory reset, wipe Cache and go to Advanced ► Wipe dalvik.
3) Go to install zip from sdcard ► Choose zip from sd card.
4) Flash froyo kernel
5) Flash CM10-20120924-NIGHTLY-mb525.zip.
7) Wipe Cache and Dalvik again
8) Restart.
It didn't boot in 10 minutes (Motorola logo) so I flashed sbf again and returned to I.
c)
1) Go to Custom Recovery.
2) Wipe data/factory reset, wipe Cache and go to Advanced ► Wipe dalvik.
3) Go to install zip from sdcard ► Choose zip from sd card.
4) Flash froyo kernel
5) Flash cm-72-20120921-NIGHTLY-Defy.zip
7) Wipe Cache and Dalvik again (recommended).
8) Restart
It didn't boot in 10 minutes (Motorola logo).
I also tried some other Quarx builds, some times with gapps and RLRv2.16_base.zip but I don't remember details.
Any ideas what can I do? Now i'm trying downloading various roms and trying to install them with recovery.
EDIT:
Now I have DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_GR_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B80AA004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTCEE_P022_A022_Service1FF.sbf which works, but I cant root it - zerg rush fails
Well.. After I flash something I don't wipe cache and dalvik , this maybe should be the problem..Before I install something I do a data/factory reset , wipe cache , and then wipe dalvik. You should try after you install something don't wipe cache and dalvik..
OK, i fixed it.
With DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_CEE_ROOTED_No_Signed.sbf from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956 i got root, after that i installed SndInitDefy_2.3.apk and was able to flash CM10.

Unable to flash Hyperion X

I am a noob and just an android enthusiast. All the Galaxy Y roms I had used earlier were stock based. I decided to give Hyperion X a try and I followed the following steps for flashing-
1) Flashed stock ROM
2) Rooted the phone
3) Went into Samsung recovery. Flashed CWM 5.0.2.8
4) Mounted data sytem cache
5) Flashed ext4formatter
6) Without going back to cwm again directly flashed sir nvsetup's kernel
7)Then went back to cwm>advanced>reboot recovery
8) Then formatted data system cache
9) Wiped battery stats and dalvik cache
10) Mounted system data cache sdcard
11) Flashed Hyperion X
12) Flashed gapps
Every time I ended up on a bootloop ( I have tried flashing 4 times :crying: ) Please tell me where I went wrong.
For those who can't install the rom properly you can follow this guide:
-Flash Stock Rom via odin (If you're on stockrom skip this step)
-Flash CWM recovery using stock recovery (v.6.0.1.2 or 5.0.2.8)
-After flashing cwm recovery mount System,Data,Cache
-Flash Cm Specific Kernel
-After flashing cm kernel go back and mount System,Data,Cache
-Flash EXT4 formatter
-After flashing go to advance and recovery and REBOOT RECOVERY
-Now you're on the recovery again now mount System, Data,Cache
-Wipe S,D,C
-Mount S,D,C
-Flash the rom file or zip
-Go back Mount S,D,C
-Flash G-apps
-Reboot Now (Wait for it it takes time to boot the rom )
-Sorry for a long guide it's only for those who cannot understand the instructions given to flash the rom
