Removing the protection film on the back is necessary? - Galaxy Tab 2 General

I noticed there are some protection films on the back of the unit. I'm curious it will remain any sticky material if using the tablet without removing these films?

Of course not. Remove them.

Ditto. I may remove the rest though, as the feel over time when it gets warm, is weird.

yeah i can't stand leaving those things on, must peel! but if you are unsure about whether or not you are keeping the tab, might be good to keep em on until decided. doesn't hurt.

haha, mine is still on for about three weeks.
usually i pull them suckers off straight away, but im waiting until my new case comes

i think you should remove it. I dont if its true but technically the back cover is made of aluminium and it's there for keeping the internal hardware cool. Maybe it works like a passive heatsink. Because my tab gets pretty hot i mean it is runs hotter than my skyrocket. When i watch a video on skyrocket i get about 32-35c but tab 2 can go up to 39-40c..

Lol! I thought it was some strange British something I scratched the bugger off with me nicket! hahahahhaha
I did the same with light fluid (paint thinner, fingernail polish remover, anything that has some alcohol) after it started peeling off somewhat. This was several months ago. I do have to warn you about the excessive scratches that appear now. They are quite minor and I have had my G2 since day 1 of its release. And yes... it will may be shiny but it does get fingerprints like the display now.
Mine went off by itself after 10 months of heavy use. i am pretty mercyless with my devices though...

It is a mod. Your changing the phone from its stock look to something CUSTOM. yea it happened by accident. So what? The nexus s we had a bat door mod where you basically do the same except use sanding paper to give the door a black brushed metal look. Not only that I've only had this phone for 2 weeks.. sorry were not leet enuff for ya to figure this out ages ago AND NOT SHARE IT WITH THE REST OF US! lol some people lol always someone hating for no reason lol :-/

Scratching off something that is already peeling off is "custom"? You go on thinking that, bud.
As to why I didn't come on here and share this knowledge? Well, I thought it was pretty obvious that something that is scratching off (the clear coat) could be . . . . scratched off (TA-DAAAAA!!!!)
Its not stainless steel, anyway. Its aluminum. When I first read the thread title, I thought it was some crazy mod where you made a new battery cover out of stainless steel, or some kind of S/S coating. But . . . its not.
Although, I do appreciate the fact that some folks on here did not realize they could scratch off the deteriorating clear coat. So I agree that this is a useful thread. But I'd use something softer than a nickel (or other metal), to avoid scratching the brushed aluminum while you remove the clear coat.
Most of the material is off my panel door as well, just haven't taken it all off yet. But, it scratches up really bad, so be prepared for it to look pretty beat up after some time. Still though, it looks much better without that finish on there.

Im sorry that you had a bad device experience with the S4. But I have to tell you, the S4 is far and away from laggy at all. Even in stock form. Several people that I know and many more on this site would tell you differently. I am going to say that either an app that you use caused the lagg, or the phone was a lemon. Heck, I have my S4 packed to the gills with apps and it is under clocked as well. And I get zero lagg.
Now, as far as the iPhone is concerned, I do not blame you in the least for getting rid of it. The company that I work for gave me an iPhone. After using it for a couple of months. I practically ready to smash it. So, I convinced them to purchase me an S4. For now and as far as a phone is concerned, I could not be happier.
Regardles the One seems as though it is a good phone. There are two things stopping me from owning it. This one is a big one. It is not on the Verizon network. And two, it does not have a micro SD card slot.

Not sure what awkward would mean, but the one heats just as any phone does, but the aluminum traps it and absorbs it more than say, plastic. That's not to say the phone itself is overheating, meaning for ex, u have a naturally 1.1ghz phone overclocked to 1.8ghz, that heat you're feeling is it screaming for it's life.
The heat on the one is just due to the fact it's aluminum, nothibg to panic about, I PROMISE YOU.
Why don't you get a case? Because you won't be able to feel it and well, as beautiful as it is, and as the case for all smartphones, drop it and it's gone.
Sent from my HTC One
The One feels hotter because the aluminum body conducts heat much better than plastic does. This is a GOOD thing. It means the phone cools off much faster when things get hot.
The power button is awkward to push but nothing that make me thing of using some crappy iPhone or the S4

Anybody else have a slightly curved back?

Does anyone else noticed the back of their Nexus 7 being ever so slightly curved? Not that this is something that would bother me, but when I place it on a table it is able to have just enough rock to it that swiping my finger with it or plugging a cable into it will pull the device in the direction of the tension.
(Moderators, I originally put this in Q&A, but since I realized it isn't so much a Q&A thread, I put it here in general. You can delete the Q&A one)
EDIT: Video comparison I just made - http://youtu.be/EhS7-KTwn4g

But it is down the vertical spine of the device, not the horizontal one. Plus the speaker grills are placed on the curve of the devices edge, so laying flat shouldn't be much of a problem anyway.
Not sure then. I just tried it with mine and I don't have that problem.

Best buy just refused to exchange it and wouldn't even try another device to see if it also did it, claiming it is a design choice (clearly she was on the ASUS/Google development team). Nor would they PM with the Staples coupon after the fact (but I can understand that one). She was just very rude and dismissive.

Yes! Somebody else notices. I was using my tablet in class today vertically and it kept turning horizontal. I noticed that the back isn't completely flat which is causing it to have movement when I lay it on a flat service.

Yeah, It might not be a huge "issue" (as the comment on my video says), but it is very annoying, especially considering I like to have the charger plugged in when I'm on it at times, and if there is any tension on the cord from where it is plugged in to where I am sitting, it will pull the tablet toward it.

The cover is really, really annoying. Especially for me, who uses bluetooth through my car speakers for my main music stuff. So each time I get in the car I plug the phone into the 12 volt. And each time, I have to pry open that cover. The worst part is, it doesn't even stay open! I also just got my Incipio dual layer protection case in the mail and now its even harder to get the charging cover off. It's really aggravating. I don't even think it closes correctly either. It always looks like its not snapped down all the way. Just, bleh. Most annoying quirk on the 4 Samsung phones I've owned.
just get the spare battery charge kit so you never have to mess with it. Its also a better means of going from zero to 100 than wireless charger

Yeah I'm not really sure what to do here. I have a bunch of 3D models for phone docks / car docks / etc for the gs3 and gs4, the battery cover is a total nuisance on the gs5, especially because it doesn't really stay open after you open it (I'm trying to imagine how to go about designing a dock for this thing).
I do 3D modeling and have a 3D printer, if anyone has an idea for an improvement... holler. I doubt we'll see any kind of other 3rd party replacement otherwise as it's attached to the phone and clearly involved with waterproofing. not sure if it's worth the trade-off!
anywho guess I'll be giving wireless charging a try again...

Yeah definitely good that it's easy to do that - personally I'm not really upset or frustrated; it's awesome to add waterproofing - I'm just trying to puzzle out the best way to keep the feature while also making the phone easy to slide into a dock (preferably with one hand), you know?

I think that I had either that case exactly, or something very similar to it, for my nexus 7, and the feature where you could make it stand up by itself was nearly useless, because it constantly fell down. it forced the tablet to stand at a nearly vertical angle, and it would just fall flat on it's face. Granted, I don't remember which brand, but I do know that I preferred to not use it.

Granted, I don't remember which brand, but I do know that I preferred to not use it.

I don't know. Mine has never fallen over, though.

INteresting. I've just taken to not really using a case, and I stand it on a multi-angle stand from anker. Works better than whatever it was I had.
What about the rooCase?

Not a bad case- fairly priced, considering how much they want you to pay if you are considering what best buy and radio shack wants you to pay for things like that (From Belkin, etc).
However there are NO review.... always a little sign to be cautious.

Bumper goes around the entire tablet. The magnet is really strong, and no metal clips or stylus holders. It's a very clean case.

its a cookie cutter case, meaning poetic has the same thing but with less designs. I'm holding it right now, yes the magnets are strong and it is a very nice slim case. the bumper goes all the way around with openings for the hard to find buttons , and the USB port and lower mic. with tiny opening for the upper microphone hole (both of them, yes the N9 records stereo vids)

got my case and screen protector

screen protector is good quality. its a VERY thick dense acrylic urethane. Not glass like I want but I cant seem to find a glass one yet. Most say they arent in the reviews. For now for the price this is a really good one for the money.

Love this case. Just like the one I Have on my nexus 7 thats been on since 2012 and kept it new looking.
Fully protected, not heavy at all, and the stand is great. For 12$ its well worth it. love clam shell cases on my tabs so I get the comfort of know the screen is covered when I carry it. This is def a good case.
