I'm actually thinking about returning my htc one. For the fact that it gets too hot in the hand, and the power button and vol buttons are a bit akward for daily use. did you get the heating issue as well?

Im sorry that you had a bad device experience with the S4. But I have to tell you, the S4 is far and away from laggy at all. Even in stock form. Several people that I know and many more on this site would tell you differently. I am going to say that either an app that you use caused the lagg, or the phone was a lemon. Heck, I have my S4 packed to the gills with apps and it is under clocked as well. And I get zero lagg.
Now, as far as the iPhone is concerned, I do not blame you in the least for getting rid of it. The company that I work for gave me an iPhone. After using it for a couple of months. I practically ready to smash it. So, I convinced them to purchase me an S4. For now and as far as a phone is concerned, I could not be happier.
Regardles the One seems as though it is a good phone. There are two things stopping me from owning it. This one is a big one. It is not on the Verizon network. And two, it does not have a micro SD card slot.

Not sure what awkward would mean, but the one heats just as any phone does, but the aluminum traps it and absorbs it more than say, plastic. That's not to say the phone itself is overheating, meaning for ex, u have a naturally 1.1ghz phone overclocked to 1.8ghz, that heat you're feeling is it screaming for it's life.
The heat on the one is just due to the fact it's aluminum, nothibg to panic about, I PROMISE YOU.
Why don't you get a case? Because you won't be able to feel it and well, as beautiful as it is, and as the case for all smartphones, drop it and it's gone.
Sent from my HTC One
The One feels hotter because the aluminum body conducts heat much better than plastic does. This is a GOOD thing. It means the phone cools off much faster when things get hot.
The power button is awkward to push but nothing that make me thing of using some crappy iPhone or the S4

Also any quad core phone will get hot

I think I'm the only one that likes the power button on the top of the phone. I think power buttons on the side of the phone just don't belong. Looks stupid to me. I'd rather re-adjust the phone in my hand to lock it then have it on the side.

I tend to agree with you, but I'm still going to Best Buy tomorrow to play with the Nexus S and see how Gingerbread performs. The stores near me have around 35 in stock each. I hope it doesn't perform really well, it might cause my credit card to slip out of my wallet accidentally.
Was the curve screen prominent? What difference did you see in the touchscreen?
I wonder if the Nexus One will still get updates after Gingerbread is released now that the Nexus S is on the scene.
True

I think it will. Nexus One specs are still meeting or exceeding Android phones today. Plus not every new phone in 2011 will be dual core.
Now will it run every app? That remains to be seen. Already we're not going to get the full Google Maps experience.

This and is it curved only in one direction or it's totally caved in? Coz I suppose putting on a screen protector might not be easy with a caved in screen. You can't use a flat screen protector in that case unless they make the protector curved as well.

How durable does the screen feel. I read somewhere Gorilla Glass couldn't make a cover that would work on it. Better yet if someone could key the crap out of a demo and report back that'd be awsome too.
The glass is flat and smooth and actually felt like it was scratch resistent

you sure? i cannot believe that bootup will take 5 sec after installing some apps. hell i can't even believe it'll take 5 seconds without any 3rd party app...
and my definition if bootup is: homescreen is setup and ready to go. because aufter seing the homescreen it'll still load a lot of stuff in the backgroud, therefore it's important to count in the time until you can really use the device.

Just got my nexus 7 in today. It seems fine, although, I noticed that con the cleft side of the screen, it seems to be slightly raised in the middle. The corners attached fine. Are people sending out back for this? It doesn't seem like an issue, just an annoyance
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it. Seems like it's always on the left side for some reason. It's lifts up over the bezel and you can push down on it and it lifts again later. That is how mine is... or was hopefully.
I heated it up with a game, then put a couple clamps on it, left it over night turned off, and today it has stayed down so far. Hope the adhesive that is suppose to hold the glass down sticks now.
I had a previous one though that was slightly different, it was raised on the left side, but I couldn't push it down. Seemed like a screw was tightened too far or something. I sent that one back.
Either deal with it or get a refund if it really bothers you. You can also try number of fixes that are posted on these forums. They pretty much all have this issue to some degree.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes this is it, but the real problem is if it makes a noise when you push on it. THATS the annoying part.
Mine doesn't make any noise, although it definitely is a tiny bit squishy and if you try and push hard on it, it does act a little like an LCD monitor. I just didn't care enough to try and return it, as I would have never noticed it if everyone hadn't had their panties up in a wad as much as they did. I figure the worst that happens is that it gets worse over the next year and I end up having to spend a whole $200 more on a newer model.
I agree. I can't imagine this truly hurting the experience. Oh well. Not a big deal as long as it works well

Are you guys serious? If I buy a product, it better not have defects. Why would anyone settle for bad quality? Products these days should not have any issues with the technology we have.

I agree, if it was a true issue I would get a new one. In my case, it is only raised in the middle, and not that noticeable. Everything else is fine. You can fix that too
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Besides it shouldn't affect performance. I hope

When I got my second one from the play store, it looked like the middle of the left side was raised. I thought I pushed it down but it never came back up.
I keep looking at it and touching it but nothing. I don't know if I imagined it or maybe bad lighting.
Just install a TPU case where the lip overhangs the screen. Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind. I'm enjoying my N7.
If its a problem 6 months later then I'll call and exchange it. Big whoop.

I am not talking about a problem to that extreme, I am talking about, a very slight raise in the middle, with no squeak. The only thing that I can think of that could be bothersome about that is that when you push hard on the bezel, a little bit of the left screen ripples

I have exact the same problem as described. They most annoying part is they "cracking" sound it does when tapping on the left side. I curious whether the touchscreen responsivness issue is somehow related to this problem.
Btw I thought it might be related to the processor since its also on the left side, maybe the heat causes the glue to detach ... if you know what I mean.

Well I pick up my Epic a week ago and wanted to just write my opinion on it. So far this is the most amazing phone I've owned. I came from the EVO and I can't believe how much better this is.
The screen while smaller is so much more crisp and vivid. The SAMOLED screen really makes a difference and the 0.3in smaller screen really is no biggie. It is also every bit as responsive.
The device itself is every bit as responsive in every way as well. Processor speeds are both 1ghz but I think I may actually run faster on my epic.
Overall I could not be happier with the device, I only wish I would have got it when it launched instead of the EVO....better late than never though.
Anyone considering this phone should jump at the chance. I give it a 10 out of 10, and with only paying $75 for mine, there is no reason not to grab one up.

Cool, HTC's are so hacker/developer unfriendly, with Samsung you basically flash one thing and you are done. With HTC, you have to do all kinds of BS.
I've actually noticed that. With the EVO I was always flashing something, with this all I have needed to do was flash one CM10 nightly and have been good to go.
Though I think I might look into overclocking at some point just because I like things to go faster than necessary, lol.
Only thing I can gripe about so far though is how hard it was to get odin to recognize the phone. Took 3 usb cables, 2 computers, and a total of 6 different usb ports.

This post takes me back to November 2010... ahhhh, good times!
I love my epic I have had a G2, mt3gs, HD2, and NS4g. Overall the epic has outmatched them all other than the data on the NS4G. I can't live without my physical keyboard it is so much more intuitive than a fake and slow virtual one. I think the "unbrickable" aspect of this device is nuts! With the ability to Odin back to stock or fix your radio is imperative on any device. Not to mention our phone has gone from 2.2, 2.3, 4.0.4 and now 4.1.1! What other phone has had the life of that!??! Who could also forget the plethora of roms that have existed and are yet to come! Our devs and the folks at samsung have outdone themselves!!! Great to have a phone and community that is truly epic!!!!!

@zac - the Epic is slightly more amazing than you realized - we started with android 2.1
Come to think of it, flash capability was the big deal with the 2.2 upgrade, which means that the Epic is one of the few phones that have seen both the birth and death of flash on android during it's life cycle of active development

I have an EVO 3d, which was my kids' before he went and lost the privilege of having a phone.... rooting it sucked. I used it for a couple of weeks before I reactivated my epic. Now I'm thinking of going back to it.... I finally shattered my screen. Practically threw it at the driveway (it was dropping, I tried to grab it and smacked it into the driveway). Corner is shattered, by the search button. Still works, but the glass is starting to come out. Don't have the money for a deductible.... The EVO3d is not a *bad* phone, I just like the way Sammy makes their phones better than the HTC.

I have also noticed that Samsung appears to make a better device. I have accidentally sent this phone flying once (dog got caught on the USB cable) and it did nothing to the phone, had my EVO 3D drop from about hip height once and it knocked one (the bottom) camera out of alignment rendering the 3D camera worthless.
Overall I am just kicking myself for not trying out other brands of smartphones before I jumped into being an HTC fanboy, lol.
Had mine for about 2 weeks now, got a great deal on it traded a Samsung intercept. Though the screen has a crack on top left corner but don't hurt it none. Came from a Motorola triumph and this phone is way better, only thing triumph had was I could over clock it to 1.7 and ran smooth. But doesn't compare to having a cm10 I can use as a daily driver. I feel the same way. While I wouldn't say I'm a Sammy fanboy, I do look at theirs first. Had the Moment, loved it. Now the Epic. I looked at the EVO, although not very hard. When the GS3 came out, I couldn't wait for my upgrade to come through. Fortunately I've got until February, so I can't rush into a new phone. Now I'm taking time looking at all the phones, and hopefully will make a good choice.... Guess we'll see though. But I'm pretty sure I'll end up with the GS3.

Has anyone here noticed the capacitative buttons aren't as responsive as they used to be after 2+ years? Maybe it's my skinomi protector.. I have two epic 4gs. One for my daily driver and one for messing around. They both have skins on them, but one seems much more responsive on the button presses than the other. Especially the menu button.
As the title says im a potential buyer and i wanted to ask you guys what should i worry about ive read some stuff like overheating or yellow tint but what else should i know about this device because im in between the nexus 4, the xperia z which is said to have built quality issues and the note 2 with its sudden death issue, the prices arent much different with the nexus in my country at around 340euros and the other two a little bit more and the customer service is horrendous in y country so repairing it really difficult hence my hesitation, ive had the lumia 920 for a while know and prior to that the note 1 and havent had any issues with them.
If customer service in your country is horrible I would suggest the N4. So many people on here, G+ etc. know how to fix things.
It's really up to you though. With the N5 coming out soon you might want to hold off.
You should probably get the Nexus 4 so you can gets lots of updates and helps from forum members. But at the same time the Nexus 4 do not have the most durable design so I would buy a case for it unless you have some accident warranty.

If customer service in your country is horrible I would suggest the N4. So many people on here, G+ etc. know how to fix things.
It's really up to you though. With the N5 coming out soon you might want to hold off.

I cant really afford the n5 when it comes out, but the software issues are not really an issue for me but ive read about overheating and throttling and im not the most hardcore gamer but i like to play a little bit through the day and thats what worries me.

Mine has never overheated and I've played some graphic heavy games in my time including Asphalt games and more recently FIFA 14. Yes it gets a little hot but so did my S2. That's pretty normal.
You shouldn't have a problem with anything like this to be honest.

It's kind of slick and likes to slide down my table (well happened twice that it fell down). The table is waist-high and I was scared at first (worked even better then the alarm to wake me up )
But since I personally dislike these ugly cases I can tell you it's not that fragile. Fell down of that table twice and nothing happened. I was only worried because I've read everywhere that the glass likes to break but it never happened
You don't have to put it in monstrous cases that should protect it from an atomic explosion or something
The n4 with ringke fusion case. IMO.

I undervolt and my phone rarely goes higher than 120°f. The n4 is solid imo, the only thing that seems to be giving me an issue is the power button which seems like it will need to be replaced at some point. No worries though, touch control helps a bunch! Tap to wake/slide to sleep....Best phone I've ever owned!

Maybe im going to do just that.
If you're on a budget then hands down Nexus 4! If you have endless cash flow and patience then wait for something else. I personally love the N4 and picked mine up from a guy off of craigslist for $200 (16GB version) in excellent condition.

I also want to recommend xtreme guard screen protectors. You can get then for the back and front and are water based. (Don't worry, there's a video tutorial)
But also get a case as well.

I only have one on the back because the front one tends to peel off really easily due to the curves on the edge of the screen.
By having it on the back it prevents the phone from slipping and sliding. Before I got them I took my N4 to the toilet with me without the xtreme guards and it slipped off the bit where the flusher is. With them on it just stays in place.

if there is a problem you can think of someone here has solved it in one way or another. Its a solid phone the N4. Put a case on it to protect it, root it to customize the way you want., rock a customized kernel to keep it cool and have good battery life, there are ways to change the colors if you do not like and plus you will have the newest software always.... Oh yea and touch control lets you do a double tap to turn on device..
Nuff' said problem(s) solved :good:

Hi guys!
I made a small album showing my holding position that i posted on Reddit earlier.

Yeah I hold mine the same way except I put my pinky tip under the charging hole. No problem for me one handing it and I don't have big hands

Yeah I do the same. No issues with holding this phone and still able to use it one handed.
I too like to live on the edge.
Without my pinky below the bottom edge, I can't picture myself holding it (in my case, I am sure it is a cracked screen waiting to happen)
With the pinky below the bottom edge, I of course can't reach the notification bar with my thumb
Balancing the device on your fingers like that would make it highly prone to drops.
Yes. I can hold it one handed fine. The dimple on the back is super useful for this.
I want to see videos of this in action from every one of you!
I have girl hands for a dude but I've been using phablets since the note 1..im use to the whole one handed and two handed scheme already

Props to you for admitting that lol honestly, ive never heard a bro say that.
Its a workout reaching elements on the screen one handed. I'm playing it safe until my spigen case gets here. Then I can risk dropping haha
I will be honest. I have never had a "phablet" and the largest phone i have had prior to the 6 was the 5. I have very large hands and honestly this is the most natural typing experience since the motorola Q for me. One handed works fine and i do not "fat finger" nearly as much as i used to. Do not get me wrong, the phone is huge, but it actually fits!
I've been holding my notes that way for years so I'm sure once I'm able to track down a 6 for myself I'll have no issues.

I don't have my nexus 6 yet but I do a similar thing with my 5. I kind of throw it around in my hand changing where I balance it to reach the top of bottom.
It's a skill, really.

Same here since I'm a chick so my hands are small.
I never noticed that I balanced the phone until I started to picture how I would hold my N6. And I noticed I practically two hand the N5 already 80% of the time. So It wont be that big of a change for me I hope.
I tested things out this week on an LG G flex and this is how I had to hold it. Worked fine. Plus, I'll put Nova on it immediately so I can swipe down from anywhere and don't have to reach the top on the screen.

Consider a custom launcher like Nova Prime with custom gestures.
I tried that but then I don't get my Google now page on the left screen. Is there any work around for that?
