DIY transfer - Galaxy S III General

I'll be getting my SGS3 as soon as Verizon ships it (crosses fingers) and figured I'd start thinking about the most seamless transfer from my Incredible. What methods do others use and is there anything that does it all in one?

Not Happy with your Fascinate? Look Here!

Hey guys, so I've been a long time member of this forum ever since I had my G1.. I then jumped ship from tmobile and went to verizon where I got the Droid Incredible.. After a few months with that I gave my incredible to my GF and got the Droid X which has been pretty solid for me so far... However now im looking elsewhere again.
Basically, if anyone its not totally happy with their fascinate and would like to potentially trade it for my DX, PM me and we can work something out.
I'm looking for an IMMACULATE phone! My Droid X has had a Stein Ultra Crystal Screen protector on it from day one right out of the box, as well as a hard snap on case with belt holster, its condition is immaculate and I'm looking for the same
Will come with all OEM equipment in the original box... I'm giving Phone with screen protector, Home Charger, Car Charger, Two Peice snap on hard case with belt holster, AS WELL as the Verizon Extended Battery that I also have for this device... So youll be getting two batterys, the extended battery and the stock one.
Phone has OTA 2.2, Deodexed, Rooted, Debloated and Clockworkmod Recovery

Yeah I have to say, I was never really interested in the droid x but with all the stuff you were offering I thought I would at least research it. Well, that being said, I am not liking what I am reading in the dx fascinate comparisons. I have a feeling that it will be next to impossible for you to find someone with a fascinate that will be willing to give it up. If your at all interested here is the thread that will backup this claim:http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...did-anyone-here-switch-droid-x-fascinate.html
I got a crisp $10 bill 2010 series. Is there anyone looking to trade their wrinkled $20 bill for my crisp $10 bill?
good day.
Actually, I'm pretty sure he'll find a taker--probably someone who's more concerned about bulletproof GPS. Maybe not on this forum though.

The Droid X has the best antenna / radio out of any android device to date, youll get significant reception improvements in the switch if you live anywere that isent fullproof.. I know at my house with my old incredible I would get two bars that fluctuated between 3g and 1x.... With my X I get full bars 3g no questions asked 100% of the time
GPS is amazing.. Ive used google maps to navigate through downtown boston which is hell and never had a problem

I'm almost tempted to go through with the trade. But I live in Rome N.Y. not sure how we would go about the trade.
People talk about the gps issue but mine works perfect......

I'm interested but am concerned with how to securely trade items via mail. I like the fascinate much more but I'm tired of waiting for froyo and I'm pissed about the video out function being disabled. So my friend if you can come up with a way to trade with me in ohio that keeps me confident that you won't run off with my phone then I've got a pristine fascinate to trade. Pm me if you think we can work something out

Question?

I might be buying a Droid x from a Co worker I would like it to root and maybe give to a realative. Is there such a thing s rooting and then going to a real cheap phone service and using the Droid on it.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
It is a little more involved than just rooting your phone, you have to completely flash it. However, it can be done.

Going to the Droid x

My Dad got me the HTC evo at the beginning of the year but now me and him want data (we were flashed to pageplus but data didn't work on them). So my question is what is the best. rom, kernal, ect for the Droid x. I just want to be ready when I get the Droid x and messing arround for days trying to get the best combination or roms and kernals.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well.
Good luck with that.
We have a locked bootloader, kid. The kernels we're provided are the kernels we get.
But as far as ROMS go...
I like Liberty. Both the froyo and gingerbread versions are great.
I haven't really played with the others...for...like 5 months.
So maybe they're holding ground too, but I wouldn't know.
Apex 2.0 is talked about a lot.
Zombie Stomped
Fission
P.S.
You're switching carriers and picking up a Droid X?
I assume you're going to lock yourself into a 2 year contract?
Not to be rude...and nothing against the X...
But this phone will be a year old in July.
The X2 is already out, actually.
I'd get something top-of-the-line for the extra $50 if you're going to be stuck with it for two years.
No my dad buys them off of craigslist. And the evo wont get 4g service but my dad got the x and it works great
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My advice is to influence your father to make the better choice and go for the newer device. From the purely economic point of view, buying a year old phone now results in an increased likelyhood of failure or desire for a newer phone in the two years of your contract, buying the new phone now means you are more able to make it two years without being left behind.

I have the evo now its like a year old now and I'm not going to Verizon I'm getting the Droid x because 4g works on it with the network we have but the evo doesn't

Not even the dx2 has 4g, you may want to do a little more research before you pick out a phone
Agree if ur looking for a 4g phone the droid x or x2 isnt for u. I have the droid x2 it doesnt have 4g
Gingerbread
No it was a typo. But I'm still getting the Droid x

I'm upgrading tonight. HELP!

I'm upgrading tonight and finally ditching the Droid X. I'm either getting the HTC Rezound or the Droid Razr Maxx. Both have tons of pros and cons. I need your opinions. Please help!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
Maxx from a prior owner of one should of never got rid of that thing
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Have you tried the rezound as well?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
Yes from a friend

I went from a Droid X to a Razr Maxx... what a great phone. I can't say enough good things about it.
Is it easy to root the maxx? Or has Motorola made it a pain in the ass to deal with the bootloader?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
I haven't used either, but from a pure hardware POV, the Rezound dominates. Dual core clocked at 1.5, better screen PPI IIRC, dual LED flash, better FFC, plus the unlockable boot loader allowing for a much larger, more active dev community. If it hasn't received official ICS yet, I believe some leaked ROMs are out there and like the Razr, it's going to get official ICS sooner rather than later.
If you're looking to rom and tweak the Rezound would probably be the better bet.
But if you're just looking for great battery life and a solid stock software build, go with the Razr Maxx.
Or you could always get a Galaxy Nexus.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I am on Verizon - the only reason I would like to root is to avoid the tether fee... would like to occasionally hook up my laptop or android tablet through the WiFi... like a large screen... Thanks - Dan
If the Razr is at all like the D3 (and newer Moto phones IIRC), tethering is blocked and even the apps don't work without first manually rewriting the radio's hex signatures. The Rezound can most likely take custom kernels and thus have native tethering.

What phone are you coming from?

As the title says, which device are you migrating from? What's making you take the switch? Other than the price of course
I've got an OG Galaxy Note and I'm considering getting one assuming I can get about the cost of the N4 for my Note when I part ways with it.

GSIII... I want pure Google no touchwizz I am using cm10 now but buggy and norm alley it takes a while till its stable. Also I will get like extra 150$ leftover and already sold my original transformer tablet for 150$ so that's 300$ toward N10.

HTC Inspire that I got February 13th 2011 It is an ancient relic and is on its last leg. I am still running Gingerbread for petes sake. I am well overdue for a new phone.
Atrix 4g. Great phone, loves it and the fingerprint scanner. Just didn't get and ICS upgrade and it's getting a little worn out

Quite a jump =P
GNexus
HTC evo 4g that I have for two years. My contract is up and I have always wanted a nexus phone as I am sick of waiting for updates and trying new ROMs that don't function 100%. I was originally planning on getting a gnex but with the price point of this phone I can't go wrong.

Coming from a Motorola Backflip. Terrible... terrible phone.
galaxy nexus
looking forward to a bit of a refresh. it is too bad that they didn't fit in a slightly larger battery, that would have made my day!
was tempted by the razr hd maxx but when it comes down to it, id get more annoyed at the lack of updates and dev support etc
Will be coming from an Evo 4g that I've had since June 2010. Switching from Sprint to T-Mobile and will try out using voip on their pre paid plans. So potentially will save $40-$50 per month while on a faster network.
The P.O.S. VZW Bionic
My htc desire z, I'll miss the keyboard, but I won't miss HTC no supporting it at all and also 4x RAM, 4x processors clocked at 2x speed, 480p to 720p, improvements all over

I'll be coming from the Galaxy Nexus myself. Hopefully it's worth the jump. Can't afford to drop too much on the phone; so hopefully I'll be able to manage it when I sell the GNexus. In any regard, I think I'll jump back into development when I do.
HTC Sensation 4G. I'm rooted running paranoid android on 4.1.2 but the s3 dual core gets so hot and I want a pure Google phone. Benefits: s4 pro, wireless charging, NFC, beam, pure Google, 2gb of ram.
I only have 16gb SD card and i never run out of storage and I only remove battery during boot loop but holding down power button force shuts down so I don't consider those as down falls.

HTC Inspire. Fortunately running ICS
S3.
Jumping back on to the Nexus bandwagon and never, ever falling off again.
Had a Gnex but took it back because I didn't want to sign a stupidly long extension to my Canadian contract. Ended up with a free S2 this summer but now since Exynos sucks dev wise, I'm switching to N4.
Can't believe something actually worked out for me and now I can get this at a great off-contract price
