Capacitive Buttons activating on there own - Galaxy S III General

Hello
I have just received my Galaxy SIII after a long long wait and have a slight issue.
Sometimes, the capacitive menu button activates every 10 seconds or so and when this happens the menu and back button are unresponsive until I lock the phone. Once unlocked it seems fine again.
I have reset the phone as it first happened on first boot and seemed OK all last night until my first use with it this morning it did the same. Again after turning the screen off then on again (not a restart) it works fine.
Any ideas if this is a hardware or software issue? Has anyone else had this problem? I have searched but couldn't see anything.
Many Thanks
Russell

Definitely a hardware issue with the touchscreen digitizer. You should return that phone as soon as possible.

That's not the answer I was after
I'll contact the supplier and see what they will do. Don't think they have that much stock.
Thanks for your help.

Anyone else having issues with buttons?

I bought the NS last week on Thursday and the back button seems to stick a lot and I have to press a lot harder. The other 3 buttons work perfect so I'm just curious if anyone else is having similar issues. I'm guessing I'll have to test it back because it's quite annoying having to press it 3-4 times just to get it to work.
I had to exchange mine yesterday because the back button would disappear and become completely unresponsive...
I also exchanged one that had this issue.
The search button and home button did not work for me when I first turned it on. They worked after I restarted it.
No button problems here

My buttons haven't had any problems thus far
Make sure you have that factory screen protector off. I've had it happed with my Vibrant, but once I took it off, everything was actually working fine.
Glad to see I'm not the only one but it sucks that I have to exchange it though and re root it all over again.
the back button sucks in general Ive gone through 2 but I still have the plastic maybe thats my problem
Ive also had that issue best buy replaced it for me. This units back button works great.

Need Advice N7 Screen issue.

Hello-
I usually do not open threads but I need advice on this recent touch responsiveness issue that has been happening. My Nexus 7 8 GIG was running great I had not had one issue with it, until one day I opened the case "Poetic leather case with magnet locks" and the screen came on notifications were on and animated everything looked fine. I went to unlock it and the touch screen did not respond to anything, now the screen rotates fine and all but it would not respond to touch. So I reset it with the power button, the touch screen then works until it times out and turns off, I wake it up and the screen does not respond again. I took it out of the case and have manually turned it on/off and it still does not respond to touch, but it will work every time I reset it. This problem has came out of nowhere it was running great.
I was originally on AOKP Milestone 1 with Franko's Kernel r25 so I thought maybe that was it so I re flashed Milestone 1 and kept the stock kernel and the problem persists. So I wiped everything and put BAMF Paradigm on it and it still does this, but the touch screen responds every time it is manually reset so I am trying to figure out if this is hardware or software related I am led to believe it is software considering the touch screen works flawlessly upon reboot but again I am not sure.
I have not added any new apps or anything like that to cause a memory leak or such. This problem started when I left the N7 for two days without touching it, then the problem happened after I tried to use it after the two days of inactivity.
Update: I turned the N7 off for about a day booted it back up now the touch screen is working every time I am confused.
So I still have 7 months on my ASUS manufactures warranty should I send this unit back? I just do not want to think its software related and it will get fixed through updates and then find out it is hardware related and be out of the warranty period.
I am on 4.1.2 with the last boot loader "not the new one"
latest version of TWRP
Thanks everyone in advance for your time.
It seems like a magnet bad effect to me! not sure though cuz the nexus 7 suppose to work fine with magnetic cases but it could be a Magnetic field effect. In my opinion as long as it works don't send it cuz you don't know what happens there in the service center, I mean once the device is opened it would never get the same as before.

Yea I had thought that was it but I took it out of the case and still does it so no dice on that field
well i flashed the latest google image and just started fresh. The touch screen is now working without issue so hopefully it was nothing still not sure though what would have caused this though -_-

[Q] Touchscreen problem: hardware or software?

Hey
I had my Nexus 4 for a while now and today suddenly I have a problem with my touchscreen. It suddenly happend, it didn't fall or nothing.
So, the problem: there is a part of the screen that doesn't function properly. It's at a certain y value or height. It noticed this today when I wanted to swipe down the notification bar. Half the time it flips back up or doesn't do anything at all, sometimes it does work. If I swipe "fast" before that height, it usually works.
I downloaded an app to test the touchscreen and at that height it registers 2 or more fingers or it snaps above or under that line.
Can I fix this or do I need to bring it back for warranty? Is this a software or hardware issue? I also did a reset, but that didn't help...
I uploaded some videos to illustrate (can't post links so insert this in the youtube links please):
1. The problem: /watch?v=kNLbSU0smcw
2. Test: /watch?v=B8ERuBtYeBA
Edit: When I hold the phone horizontally, the notification bar works perfectly.
Many thanks,
Aaron
Update: from yesterday until now the screen was even worse, like I was touching it with 100 fingers, it went totally crazy...
A few hours later it works perfectly normal again
Any ideas?
Ok, I still have this problem...
However, the problem is present and I switch a few time to the lockscreen and back, it's fixed most the time. So I think this must be a software issue.
Maybe undoing a few updates might help? What's the best way to do that?
Are you on a Custom ROM / Kernel? If so, go back to stock ROM and Kernel and see if the problem still exists.
No, never used other roms, kernels or rooted..

I have the exact same issue.. Did you manage to solve it?
Nope, but sometimes I can use it like a week with no problem and sometimes I have it everyday.
At first I thought it might be because of the low temperature in my bedroom, but I tested it and I don't think that's the reason. I removed the cover I bought too, but I need to use it a bit longer to be sure it doesn't happen without cover. After that I'll put on the cover again and check again.
Is it possible that it happens when it is charging? Mine does this when it is charging.
No, as far as I know it's not affected by charging. The first time I had this problem I just picked it up from my desk..
I had touch screen issues as well, less than one month after getting the phone.
Occasionally, after pressing the power button to power up the display, the touch screen would not be responsive. I need to turn off/turn on the display again for it to work. It finally conked out one day when the entire part used for soft keys doesn't work anymore. Just an instant before this happened the touch screen started acting crazy for a few seconds.
Had the touch screen and LCD replaced under warranty.
The problem now is there's a bright white blob in the upper right corner of the LCD, and the proximity sensor sometimes doesn't work, resulting in no display when making or receiving a call.

I have the same problem. I am using an other USB adapter for loading. And while the N4 is charging the screen responds like crazy. It often detects two fingers instead of one... And using the keyboard is impossible... If I use the original USB adapter it works with no problems...

Yeah, turning the display on/off a few times (so lock/unlock) helps sometimes. The warranty is a bit of a problem here, I bought it in Germany (MediaMarkt), but I live in Belgium. I tried registering at the LG site (Belgian version), but no option to select a Nexus 4 there for support... I did a live chat at the LG site, explained my problem and the helpdesk guy just left the chat I tried to contact them using Twitter, but they never replied. I asked MediaMarkt and they said I'd have to bring it in the a German MediaMarkt... It's a long way to Germany, so I'd rather not do that unless I can't solve it and they reject the warranty in Belgium (although they are obliged to).
I'm also worried that I'd get an even worse phone, like the problems you have with your new phone :s

Ok..I have a RaZr and this happened to me too. One fine day. Playing a game. In the middle of nowhere. I was scared. S*it scared. So what did i do?
I just did a soft reboot. Pressing the right combination of keys and the phone reboots.
Also, here is a very long drawn attempt, but can u try doing a wipe data/dalvik/cache?
Go into stock recovery and do the rest.
It may help, it may not help.
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA while doing this.
And oh: I am sorry but I think this is a hardware issue. I may be wrong.
I had the same issue with my EVO LTE. It would go away and come back just like yours. It wasn't a software problem , so I sent it in under warranty and they're fixing it free of charge.

I bought a cheap usb charger facing the same problem with touchscreen on my iphone 4 and also with nexus 4. I threw it away and I'm using the original, but if you want to replace it pay attention to the cheap one
Sorry for my bad english, I'm italian, greetings from Italy
You have to have a custom recovery to wipe cache. Just reboot into it and select wipe cache

If your rooted, you can try ''Touch Control''
It's on the playstore. It enables to lock and unlock your device just by sweeping the screen.
You need to be rooted and have a kernel which supports modules (franco kernel for example).
I can provide more help if you want to go through this process.
If you really want to have the power button fixed, replace it. It could be the outer part, or the switch (small circuit board).
Both can be ordered from eBay.
you can also use volume rocker to wake... but you need a custom rom
I have the same problem.. It started becoming worse after the 4.3 update... Guess it's a software bug... I'm expecting a fix.. Let's hope so..

Touchscreen not responding

Sometimes my nexus 6p screen doesnt respond to touch at all. The power and volume buttons still work as does the fingerprintscanner.
Rebooting changes nothing. After a few minutes the screen starts responding again.
Anyone know how to fix this or what causes it?
Are you using the stock cable and charger.

I think the fix is to RMA.
Same Issue (Nexus 6P Touchscreen not responding)
I had the same problem with my Nexus 6P it would suddenly become unresponsive, then after a few minutes it would respond again. The problem started after the very first update to the phone which I have only had for just under 2 months, however a few days ago it became unresponsive but never responded to touch again. I left it thinking it will start to work again but never did. The Fingerprint Scanner works, the volume and power button work. My last resort was to give it a hard reset, which i did but not even that worked so now I have a brand new phone that doesn't work and am yet to find a fix for it.

My N6P screen die same way yesterday too (no recent updates, I guess it's a hardware issue). Talked to Google hardware support guy, tried same usual troubleshooting, nothing worked. Now I am waiting for a replacement.
How did you fix your screen?
Nexus 6P Unresponsive
Exact same thing has happened to me...
I got it from my Provider, within two days the phone would start glitching (I would tap the screen, and it would register 10 taps) and then it just became unresponsive, this would last hours... I sent it for an RMA but because of a slight bend on the side with the buttons (Quarter or a Millimetre bend) they would not repair it unless i payed $300 AUD or like $250 USD... Now im just stuck with a phone that I recieved not working
Had the same problem; after eliminating every other possibility, I got an RMA which fixed it (I put back a twrp backup so the software was _identical_; definitely a hardware problem).
