Maybe you do not have CWM installed. To install it you have to download the required file from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
Go to downloads and download the appropriate partition. As you are new to all of this i suggest you download the 250mb partition, u know, just to get the ICS rom working.
Anyways, after you download it extract it somewhere.
Boot your Phone into MAGLDR (turn it on by holding the power button)
Select option 5. USB flasher. Connect you phone to the pc via the usb cable. Wait for it to say usb....usb on the last line (this is on the phone)
Then run DAF.exe on your pc. Follow the instructions on the setup.
Thats it. You have CWM installed.
To enter CWM, select option 8. AD recovery from the MAGLDR menu.
Hope it helps

did you press and hold the end call button?

To enter CWM, select option 8. AD recovery from the MAGLDR menu.
Click to collapse
and if option 8 doesn't say 'AD recovery' then you have an old version of magldr - quite likely, if cwm really isn't installed, since all newer roms are cwm flashed.

download cwm for sd card you need to google cwm for sd card xda and follow instructions to letter. this allows you to have.cwm if your is corrupted or not working. then when you boot up phone holding power button to get into magldr. thread on cwm sd will explain all.
hope this helps as this is how i got my cwm working when mine got corrupted. i now always have a backup.of this on my sd card in case my cwm ever gets corrupted again.

You can load the default recovery by holding down VOL - and POWER, select RECOVERY, then press AND HOLD, VOL + and POWER to load update.zip which *should* load ClockWorkMod.
Try wiping cache and do another factory reset. First boot may take many many minutes
Edit: Also, no question under development! Mod, please move to general..
Moved to general as not development

Stuck trying to root from sd card. I need help.

Edit: Im not sure if the title is right. Im trying to run the Android from my sd without actually rooting the Nook. Sorry. Wanted to clarify.
Im using the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
I can get the image to write on my sd card which is an 8GB if that matters. I load the CM7 onto the sd cards root and insert it into the Nook. I used this build: cm-7-20120624-NIGHTLY-encore.zip
It starts to do its thing and gets stuck with this message: "Please download it from nook.linuxhacker.ru
and put on first partition of this SD card the name should start with updatei-cm and end with .zip".
I searched the topic in several different areas and found some replys but none that made any sense to me. Im hoping someone can "dumb it down" a little for me. What do I need to change/do to solve this? If I didnt include a piece of info needed please let me know and ill do my best. Thanks.
Just rename the cm- file to start with update-. Then try booting again.

That worked great! Thanks so much! Unfortunetly it lead to another issue. I followed the instructions to install gapps file. This is the one I used: gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip from the site in the instructions. I booted into recovery using the method of going into Android and powering off and selecting recovery but nothing happened. I came back to the decktop and nothing changed.
So i need to rename something again?

Use the boot menu method. Power completely off, then boot, holding the n button until the boot menu comes up. Select SD and recovery and boot. It will go into the SD recovery which is the little penguin guy and install the gapps. (You did put the gapps file in the boot partition by putting card in the PC didn't you?)

Bumping this thread instead of making a new one.
Just rooted my brothers Blade, and installed CWM 5.0.2.0. Made a NAND backup before starting to flash. I downloaded CyanogenMod 7.1 along with GAPPS as found on this forum, put it on the SD and booted inte CWM. Wiped data, cache and dalvik and flashed CM 7, when i start the phone, I get no service, i can't find any network or anything, I even tried several SIM card.
Then i wiped everything and restored the backup and the service works fine.
Anyone have any idea?

Swedish phone, eh? Is it the comviq/tele2 version? That's a GEN3 phone, same as mine.
1. Get a fresher version of the ROM, CM-7.2.0 is stable and can be found in the stable download section of Cyanogenmod, here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=blade
2. Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?f3yukhcn7woh3de (i know it says CM-9 but trust me on this, it works on CM-7 just fine)
3. Flash the ROM and whatever packages you want to include in it, like gapps (pretty much a must have).
4. Flash the file you downloaded in step 2.
5. Reboot.
I've got a GEN3 phone and this is how i make it work.

Problem getting into recovery

Hey,
Thanks to this amazing forum, to replace the Galaxy S2 I soft-bricked (for sale if anyone interested pm me), I bought an HTC HD2 and managed to get HyperDroid onto it, it's been fantastic for the past couple of months however now I have an S3 and I'm trying to reset it or flash a new rom onto it.
If I hold the power button and choose reboot into recovery, it just reboots normally into hyperdoid.
When I went into ROM manager, I think it may of said there wasn't a CWM Recovery, anyway I told it to flash latest 3.1 and it is now saying that it is installed.
If I tell it to reboot into recovery via ROM manager same thing happens, boots like normal.
I just can't damn well get into recovery
Any help pretty please.
Howard
That's normal issue if you are using MAGLDR.
Shut off the phone and turn it on holding on the power key till You're in MAGLDR. Then choose 8 AD Recovery.
Wahey, thank you. However when I choose that it's saying error cannot load ramdisk image, any ideas?

What partition size did you flash? Did you make sure that the ROM you flashed required the same or a smaller partition size than you flashed?

unable to install clockworkmod

Hi to everyone.
I have an Ideos x5 u8800, and i have the official 2.3.5 b522 gingerbread update.
I have already rooted my phone without any kind of problems, but i cannot install the clockworkmod recovery by any method that i ve seen in here and over the internet.
The problem that i am having with this is that i follow the procedures shown on this site.
1) i download the recovery img
2) i unzip it
3) i power off the device, and turn it on using volume+ plus volume- plus power buttons all long pressed together until pink screen appears
but after pink screen, i connect the phone to computer via usb, but computer wont recognize the phone. i mean i cannot access the phone from my pc during the pink screen to paste the recovery image on the phone.
I have install Hi Siute lattes version, i have use it do check for drivers, and it says that is ok. I have also went to the device manager and it says all my drivers are up to date.
i am using windows 7 64 bit, i don t know if have some kind of conflict. I know that i am probably doing something wrong, but don t know what, so if you very kindly can help me i would be eternal grateful, and if cannot help me i thank you anyway.

I thank you for the help Qqqxxxzzz, but i think you miss understood me, i aplologize if you don t.
You see my problem is exactly on step 3 of those instruction.
i mean, i cannot use the clockworkmod recovery image 5.5.0.4.
i will try to explain: i power on my phone using vol+ plus vol- plus the power button, and i do get my pink screen.
my problem is: in order to install the clockworkmod i need to connect the phone to the pc while my phone is on the pink screen. and this is exactly what i can t do. i mean, i have the pink screen, but when i plug my phone into the pc while on the pink screen, the pc wont recognize or connect to the phone.
so to summarize: basically i cannot follow step 3 of those instructions because i don t have the recovery 5.5.0.4 installed, because i cannot install it.
i assume, and i am sorry if i m wrong, that the recovery image that is on the tutorial you passed me is the clockworkmod recovery.
i hope you understand correctly the problem i have and if you can help me i thank you, i you cannot i thank you anyway.
Anyway, if no one can help me i am going to quit and let my phone the way it is now, because i don t wanna end up bricking my phone and my english is not the best so i understand that is difficult for people to help me.
i thank you anyway.
Seriously, you must do a litle research before posting new threads with same questions. This way the forum bloats with same stuff unswered again and again.
It' s known(mentionded a lot of times in different threads on the forum), that huawei has blocked the pink screen functionality after B518 release. So, after this release the bootoader is locked and you can't no more see the special partitions on pc when you're on pink screen mode. There' s also a specific thread which explains how to get the unlocked pink screen back. Search for "Get back your pink screen" thread on developement section(this maybe easy be the 10th time I post this info).

You can't install CWM via pink screen in B522 and later releases.
1. Root you phone
2. Download 5.5.0.4 recovery
3. Use root explorer/es file explorer/any other file manager which can get root access
4. Move recovery.img to /.cust_backup/image
5. reboot

Apply only if you have upgraded your phone to B522 or newer. You may have a custom ROM on top, but the base has to be B522 or newer.
Tested by myself on B522, B526. Reported working on B528.
The steps required to get back pink/blue screen USB:
Automatic flashable zip is pretty much fail proof, but I have warned you.
Automatic method (recommended):
Download update-B518-bootloader.zip from MediaFire.- done
Save it to the root of your SD Card.-done
Start the phone in recovery mode (recommended recovery is 5.5.0.4)- cannot do, because i cannot install recovery 5.5.0.4
Select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "chooze zip from sdcard"
Select the zip you downloaded before.
Select yes.
Reboot and enjoy!
The only way to install recovery 5.5.0.4, is to power on phone with vol+, vol- and power buttom, and when i do that, i get the pink screen but no usb on pc, so i cannot install (recommended recovery is 5.5.0.4), because to do that i need the usb.
ok. i am done trying and i am going to quit.
thank you for the help.
you may close this tread if you wish.
