Just tested s2

I work in the phone industry and I just wanted to share my experience whilst playing with the s2 at samsung.
It a stuning piece of kit that makes the galaxy s retro
Things I can confirm

Amazing camera even for macro.
Super smooth and future OTA updates. Will post more son but please ask questions.

Well the things that I want to know personaly :
- Maybe some benchmarks results if you can (quadrant, nenamark) ? in order to see if drivers have been somewhat optimized for the GPU
- Which version of android was on the prototype you tested ? 2.3.1 or the latest 2.3.3?
- How is the web browser on heavy pages ? and withn flash content ? still smooth ?

Looks like the sun blocked the image but its running GB 2.3.3.
The phone I had was a uk version 16 gb model but can take a 64 gb sd card! Its also enyos processor.
I wasn't able to do a bench mark but we played flash games on it. Lag did not exist on this phone

Whats about the quality of the case does it feel cheap like SGS I or feels it better? Because the cover for the akku looks always very thin on the pics...
Did you mention anny lag during testing the phone (like slow programmstart or during switching the home screen...)

Hello, thx for sharing this information with us, how do you find the screen quality compared to samsung galaxy s?

do you mean the phone tv out through 3.5mm jack?because my tv dont have hdmi port.
and is there an＂auto power up＂setting in its alarm settings?

Screen pixalation very very high, fantastic for photos at long range or macro.
Internets smooth even with large heavy pages.
Text is crisp.
The samoled 2 has much better battery consumption compared to superamoled.
1.2 ghz dual exnyos proccessor
Phone feels much more premium, has textured back just like galaxy ace . Feels ready good in the hand it felt lighter than the galaxy s. Gotta get back to work

Lol gps works. Locked on I under 5 seconds, wasn't able to drive with it. We had 3 units to play with. One of them got destroyed by accident......woops

Dungeon defenders no problem. No lag. Even played a playstation title but thats all I can say on that story. Samsung really worked hard on this phone. Perfection.

Will there be future flagship phones with physical keyboards?

We're about halfway into 2011. These days, it seems like all the new phones have no physical keyboards. At least, among the flagship devices. The Epic was the closest thing to a flagship keyboard phone recently, which was one of the biggest reasons I bought mine off ebay.
Do you think that the Epic and the Desire Z may represent some of the last high end phones with keyboards?
A few of the midrange devices still have them, but even then, the keyboard slider seems to be in decline. After trying swipe, better keyboard and a bunch of others, I found that SwiftKey was my favorite, but not a substitute for a physical keyboard.
Your thoughts?

Yea there will always be devices with keyboards ... companies can't just overlook those consumers who prefer a physical keyboard they will most likely put something out for them

I'm sure there will be another top end phone with a keyboard. With all the different manufacturers and models of phones that come out on a regular basis, a few have to have features that differentiate it from another model. In other words, there will be always a market for some people who do PREFER a physical keyboard.

Hold on, let me check my crystal ball...

I hate the trend that Apple started. A smartphone without a keyboard is not a smart one. Its like typing on an old flip phone. Now all the new phones have to look thin and all so the engineers cut the keyboard.
When I see a new phone comeout without a keyboard...its "nneeeexxxtttt" for me.

They seem to have cut the battery too. For just a couple millimetres, you could get perhaps 1,000 more mAh?

Adding 1000mah would make the phone a LOT more than "a couple millimeters" thicker. Just look at the Epic with the 2800mah back:

It nearly doubles the thickness of the phone and probably adds a lot of weight.

Maybe a centimeter? Perhaps a bit less looking at the image. I was thinking a partial redesign where the battery would be thinner, but the surface area bigger.
Either way, it seems these days ultra thin has become the trend, often at the expense of batteries and nowadays, the keyboard.

Within a decade there prolly won't even have batteries for phones anymore. Scientist have discovered a cell that can create energy through breathing air. No bs if I had more details or a source I would share but I don't.

I was really considering the One X before i watch this video (even though I don't have a clue what he is saying ) but after seeing this it's like there is a HUGE difference in screen size!!
I was thinking 0.6 wouldn't be that much to lose but it seems it is, damn you Note

Yeah I thought exactly the same but screen size on ONE X seems a lot smaller and I think we are all doomed to wait for Galaxy Note II or so!!!

I still say this phone is going to have major battery complaints.

I'm going to get One X when it is on sale in the UK and sell my Note. As much as I enjoy using the Note the last 5 months and still think the Note's screen and expendable memory is great benefit compared to the One X. I'm mainly changing for the 4.0 software shipped with HTC. Had Samsung kept their promise of ICS update by end of April, I'd be happy with keep on using Note, but I'm starting to get sick with general slowness of Gingerbread.

The pic alone should be sufficient to see how this comparison does not make any sense as all the others comparing the Note with "the rest"...
The Note is THE SOLE AND ONLY ACTUALLY USABLE SMARTPHONE TODAY, the One X is just one of the other countless, useless stupidphones I am no more interested in.

Most concerning part of htc one x is battery.
Does 1800 mAh battery will enough for 4.7inch device?
Note have 2500 mAh
One more thing i suspect is GPS, note have dual support gps + glonass, n thats y mote having marvelous gps fix, hardly i do have read complain about this, i think one x don't have glonass.
No memory card slot also annoying part for one x.
Some positive thing is powerful processor, n preinstalled ICS for htc x.
Overall i do stick with note only, if i explain just one reason, can't compromise screen size anymore.

He basically put down some specs and display comparison. He has that the one x, has that outsticking camera is a minus for the phone since it more likely gonna scratch. He also said that the screen viewing angle is almost edge on edge but NOTE is slightly better. Both are fast phones. Also his conclusion is the HTC one x is a great phone smaller better pocketable but the Note is still the slightly better all around phone. But the size can be a issue with some. And I didn't translate it word for word just a short version.

why not the one s? i'm seriously considering moving/upgrading to the one s because i'm tired of people saying that my phone is "thick" and "heavy", so the one s is perfect for me

The thing about the one s, in the UK its REALLY expensive because it just came out, and doesn't have a micro sd slot... And id want a good battery, I've heard wonders about the note and the razr maxx!

not persuaded from this review, they are mostly problems that can be solved by working some minutes on the phone...
IMO it's (one of) the best android phones out now. One X and tegra 3 doesn't appeal me... Samsung and LG are the worst brands imo...
Have a look at my optimus one... You may even notice some, just a bit, dust under the screen... this after one month...

I'm also considering the HTC One S... but I will not be purchasing the grey/blue accent version. I've heard that the One S might be released in black/red accents later, likely related to the chipping that occurred to the international version with this MAO treatment. If anyone has any real news regarding the release of this version on US T-Mobile, please post here or start a thread... I follow TmoNews.com, but haven't read anything definitive yet.

Thank you for mentioning that HTC should not name their web browser "Internet". Pet peeve of mine! There is an AOKP setting (I think it's AOKP?) that lets you use the volume up/down key when you have the IME keyboard out to move back/forward over the text input line. When that comes to your One S it should help ease backing up a few characters since you now lack a trackpad.
Your review speaks similarly to what mine would, I'm sure. Some of the reasons you speak of (and obviously, no QWERTY) are the reasons I am not buying one of these new flagship phones. IF there is a QWERTY and it completely blows or is locked down then I'll be considering moving to a non-qwerty phone, but let's be realistic here. New hardware and thinness do not matter. Those aren't new features, they're expected with new devices and aren't something that will add sway to me purchasing the device.
I think the SIII is pretty hideous, personally, and while I have a Samsung TV, I'm not the biggest fan of their mobile device build quality. That said, some of the features in the SIII are pretty badass. I dunno if I'd enable that feature that creepily detects my eyes, but I do dig the wireless charging amongst other things.
People are so blown away by the One S/X when they don't seem to realize that all new [flagship] devices coming out this year will have similar hardware.. so if that's the case, then why not wait a few months and see what else is announced? I guess I'm just old fashioned and tend to wait to see what the user reaction is to new devices, as well as the user/dev community, etc. Because those things matter!

This thread made me realize that the one series are built in batteries.
Its so nice when your phone is dying and it takes only a few second to change the battery and go.
In school, I hate people saying "oh, dont play with my iphone too much, I need battery for the ride home".

No phone will have the tegra 3!!!! AT&T wants LTE and the tegra doesnt support it. Get over it. The S4 is better

I hope Atrix 3 bootloader isn't locked like Atrix 2. Would be even better if this was a Google Nexus device with Jelly Bean pre-loaded. Liking my Atrix 1 international (non-4G) a lot, especially cause its quad-band HSPA.

Capacitive buttons? Soft keys on the screen is a better option for ICS. However, I agree that the carrier logo is ugly as ****.

well, soft keys just waste space on the screen for instance look at the htc onex, lg optimus 4x, and the sgs3 . All have dedicated buttons (gotta say i dont like the hard home key on the sgs3 though), which looks better and more useful at least in my opinion

On small screens mandatory eye candy (and badging) sucks.
