Hi, I am from Czech republic and recently purchased a Nook Simple Touch. I am a medical student and would like to root my device, to obtain a nice .pdf and .ppt viewing functionality. I am pretty much a noob in stuff like rooting, therefore I read a quantum of threads on this forum. But i did not find an answer to this question:
Is it possible to root the NST with MIUI Rom?
On the MIUI official pages, I found the Nook Color in the list of supported devices. That is why I think it could be possible, with a little effort. Is this possible, and moreover, has anybody done this?
Thank you

Hello All,
I searched for related posts extensively and due to the words which describe my question, I was unsuccessful. If you know there is another post on this, please point me in that direction and I apologize for wasting bandwidth.... otherwise on to the question:
I've been developing apps for the last three months and my development environment (Eclipse, ADT, MotoDev Studio) on my desktop and laptop are working flawlessly. I actually had to spend a bit of time to get to this state, so I'm apprehensive about changing anything.
1. Will rooting my Moto Droid 1, Nook Color, Gtab, Etc. have an adverse effect on my development environment?
2. Can you envision ANY* problems related to app development post-root? *I'm looking for Emulator problems, PATH problems, Compile issues etc...
3. Any gotchas I should be aware of as a vanilla app developer?
I've read several rooting guides and I don't think I see any conflicts, but I don't know everything... I just try to ask the right questions. Thanks for your time.
I have this same question (except I'm on Droid Incredible).

As a developer myself I do not see / have any issues developing with a rooted device. I actually prefer using rooted devices as it is easier to debug in my opinion and much quicker to perform tasks. As for your IDE + ADB and other tools, they will not be affected unless you have VERY specific setups with your devices. I have never heard of any issues, so best of luck and if you have questions feel free to PM
Thanks for the reply...
On to rooting I guess ... worst case; I just bang my head on the wall for a few hours getting the environment back to where she likes my code.
Hello guyz.
I bought a new A500 and i'm interested in developping a custom ROM, with my default apps, wallpapers, widgets and configurations.
It's only for personal use, since i don't have lots of time to work on this.
Anyway, i would like to know where can i learn about this. Is there any material to read, or video tutorials, or something?
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the General forum? Android University?
MD
I can help you port roms if you need any help with that
First things first, I have just got hold of a NST from eBay and this is my first e-reader. I wanted to know before I proceed further, is this the forum concerning Simple Touch as well because it only says Nook Touch, so any solutions discussed here will they apply to my Simple Touch?
To my main question: Sorry it this was asked before. After rooting will I be able to zoom pdfs , the files that are image based like magazines for example.
If I want to roll back to original firmware after rooting - is there a possibility?
Will I be able adjust the contrast setting of the display because it looked washed out for me (maybe it is only me having used tablets all these years.)
Please point me to a step by step guide to root and the best custom firmware.
Thanks in advance

No one here for simple touch?

Yes, these are the forums for the Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with Glow Light. Read the development thread on NookManager and the apps forum on pdf reader applications for more on your questions. The short answers is yes you can do everything you want. The caveat is you will need to read instructions carefully and there are quirks to everything. So read first and see if you're comfortable with the rooting process and the apps you will have available.
Thanks many

Please don't cross-post general questions into the development forum.
Very good at least somebody can respond but no answer.

Hello members, my name is Nicholas and I needed help on finding a suitable custom ROM for a vivo Y19t. A relative of mine purchased one recently but is really irritated by the fact that the custom android ROM it comes with is mainly in Chinese (he's Ugandan, and speaks mainly English) and also the fact that it comes without access to the play store. Anyone on the forum willing to help me out? I have no experience in rooting phones. However I'm a tech enthusiast and I catch on to instructions really fast so doing it myself will not be a problem. I need advice from the forum members on which ROM would meet my needs for this particular phone.
Thanks.
