Thinkpad start update problems - Thinkpad Tablet General

I did a check update in my TPT and it started downloading. After a few seconds in sown me the message:
"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
The download went to 33%.
After that I rebooted and tried again, and the same error showed up.
Now every time I reboot even if I do not make a check update it shows the message. And to make things worst I cannot use the following applications:
Gmail: "The application Gmail (process com..google.android.) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Gtasks: "The application Gtasks(process or.dayup.gtask) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Google play store: "The application Google play store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Browser: Display the message to fast for me to read it
What can I do to resolve this (without factory reset)

[Q] Cannot flash Galaxy S4 GT-I9502?

Hey Guys,
I am trying to return a Galaxy S4 Duos GT-I9502 back to stock, for someone who attempted to root the device, which failed. I am however experiencing some difficulty doing so, and would appreciate some help, if anyone has any suggestions.
This is the screen on the device:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I am able to put the device into download mode, though I keep getting this error message when I try flashing the device in Odin.
"Complete(Write) operation failed."
When attempting to flash the device, it quickly goes through boot.img, recovery.img and system.img (when it should take longer for each step, and you should see the little green progress bar move), before failing. Does this mean that Odin is having issues writing to the device?
I am pretty confident that I have the correct Samsung drivers installed, and I have tried completely closing all of the Samsung Kies processes on the computer. I have even tried using a different computer, and two different ROMs.
I have tried flashing the below ROMs:
I9502ZNUBMG2_I9502CHUBMG2_CHU
I9502ZNUAME3_I9502CHUAME3_CHU
I have also tried the 'Firmware upgrade and initialization' option in Samsung Kies, though I keep on getting this error message, before it closes (I do not know what it says, Google translate doesn't give a good translation).
"Binary files are not registered U.S. Congress gyeongmu mouth mid-sprocket
Bow can proceed
Please check the binary file registration myeobu"
Does anyone have any suggestion / idea of what is going wrong? Any help would be highly appreciated!
Never mind, I was able to resolve the issue by re-flashing CWM recovery!
same problem
i have exactly same problem with I9502ZNUBMH4 version , does anyone know how to flash this device because i tried 100 time with different versions of odin , and every time i failed repaird it with cwm .
oh and the device won`t do a full wipe , every time i full wiped it my files didn`t deleted ?!
Samsung S4 GT-I9502 root / flash failed - HELP
Hey Guys,
I tried to root my Samsung S4 GT-I9502 (OS Android 4.3), for that I found this website:
http://marrkdaviid.com/2013/08/fix-caller-id-install-google-play-on-the-galaxy-s4-i9502/
But it failed (see more Information below) and I had the following error message and no wifi.
"Complete(Write) operation failed."
When attempting to flash the device, it quickly goes through boot.img, recovery.img and system.img (when it should take longer for each step, and you should see the little green progress bar move), before failing. Does this mean that Odin is having issues writing to the device?
I live in China and I just bought the phone, I needed 5 days to download the necessary files, because most download pages are blocked in China. So I am loosing my last nerve right now.
I am pretty confident that I have the correct Samsung drivers installed. I don’t have Samsung Kies installed. I have even tried using a different computer (Laptops), and two different ROMs.
I have tried flashing the below ROMs:
I9502ZNUCMG2_I9502CHUCMG2_I9502ZNUCMG2_HOME.tar.md5
I9502ZNUEMK3_I9502CHUEMK3_I9502ZNUEMK3_SVA.tar.md5
Someone with a the same problem tried the 'Firmware upgrade and initialization' option in Samsung Kies, but it didn’t work, so I didn’t try. (Here the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2382979)
Instead I tried a recovery. I used Odin 3.07 and the following file:
i9502-cwm-recovery.tar.md5
I got my phone back to work for a while, I reset the phone, just in case. But know I can’t switch the Wifi on and the phone wants to Reboot.
So I allowed the phone to Reboot, I clicked on “reboot system now” and then on “Yes – (I forgot what was written behind the Yes, but I didn’t just click on the normal Yes, I clicked on the Yes - …)
The problem here: The Phone changed to a China Unicom Screen and stayed like that. After 5 h I took the battery out, but I couldn’t restart the phone.
So I did an cwm recovery and know I am afraid to reboot. The Wifi is not working and I can’t find any information about how to fix it.
So please help me. Do I reboot? Can I already install SVA ROM, although I couldn’t flash the Stock Firmware? Do I send the phone back and give up?
Please let me know if you need any other information to be able to help me.
PS: This is the first time that I flash a smart phone. And although I already spent several days now, searching the internet for how-to-dos, tips & tricks, guidelines, Q&As and god knows what, I still do not fully understand what exactly I am doing here. Hence, I would be very happy to receive somewhat easy understandable answers.
Thank you so much for your help!
Anna
Philz 6.00.2
I have a similar problem.
I tried to install philz _touch_6.00.2-i9505.tar, by uisng Odin 3.09
Everything went OK. I got PASS! and my Samsung S4 i9505 rebooted into the stock ROM
However I cannot enter Philz. I tried to keep pressed volume Up + Home + Power but the phone goes immediately into the main Samsung screen. I have tried many combinations...the only working combination is:
volume Down + Home + Power > which leads to download mode (for Odin)
Thank you for your suggestions!

I have the same issue, how did you fix it? It's been a day that I've been trying to fix it. I've got the Exynos version I9500

Errors while trying to update LG-E612

So I got this phone off a friend and I factory reset it which all worked fine, then I thought I would update it before I got to far. I have not had any success, I have even scoured the forums and the internet without any success so I'm hoping that someone with some experience may be able to assist or point out something I am missing. The phone is stuck in Download mode - I can't get it to boot to the rom at all.
I have a feeling there may be corruption on the phone - You'll see why a little further down, however I cannot be sure.
I am stuck in Download Mode

}
I have tried every method to get the update to work that I can find.
I started off by installing all the LG apps and Drivers. The phone is recognised from what I can tell.
I downloaded a couple of stock roms
When I open LG Mobile Support Tool - It says the software is up to date. When I go to 'Options' the only option I get is 'Update Recovery' which I chose and let it download and start installing. Once it gets to 4% is stops. I have pulled the battery and tried over and over again but it keeps stopping the update at 4%. I have even tried removing the battery completely and continuing the install but the same thing happens.
So I tried this over and over with no success. I tried with battery, without battery, I tried getting in Emergency Mode with no success. I tried booting into the OS with no success. So I continued surfing looking for answers.
I found KDZ and thought this might be the missing piece of the puzzle, however this kept crashing every time I tried loading info from the phone and even when I skipped that and just tried installing the ROM.
And the data in the log file looks out of place...
I played around with this hoping to get it to work, but I couldn't. I tried CDMA and it kept failing and it wouldn't even attempt to install the ROM.
So the next one I gave a shot was LG Flash Tool 2014.
This is the only info I can get to pull from the phone.
I am out of options and I'd really like to get this sorted without having to send it off for repair. I see there is an IMEI error - Does anyone know a way for me to repair it?
Any suggestions or experiences you can share that may help would be really great.

I haven't viewed the images, but try this
-Goto download mode.
-Open KDZ updater
-Select the kdz, select 3QCT (something like that) and DIAG (forgot the options, its been long since I flashed a stock ROM)
-Flash the kdz
-KDZ updater will crash, it is quite normal
-Do a hard reset (remove battery, put it back, vol - + power + home, when it vibrates remove power and hold on vol - and home for another 5 sec)
-Hopefully, it should boot..

Make sure you have drivers installed BEFORE conecting the phone.
Also the only flasher that worked for me is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409308

Problem during flashing firmware

Hi All,
This afternoon I was trying to upgrade my LG G2 from KitKat to Lollipop using the how-to in this thread.
I have the D802 model and downloaded the German stock Lollipop (16 GB) for the D802 (which should be similar to what they are going to give Dutch users) and followed the manual step-by-step. So far so good. After 23% the phone gave me the error (ASSERT) in the Firmware Upgrade mode. I retried to install the upgrade a few more times, but every time it gave me the same error at different percentages.

}
I can enter the mode where I can restore the factory settings and delete everything, but for example the download mode didn't work (or I am doing something wrong). Every time I restart the phone it automatically goes into the firmware upgrade mode.
Does someone know how I can fix this?
Everyone's help is much appreciated!
Hi
I had the same problem, or something similar.
And i wrote it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59891571&postcount=8
The only difference - is in our "ways of updating"
My LG G2 gave me message that there is available software update and that i should conect my phone to PC.
1. So i conected it with my PC through LG PC Suite, and went on "check software update"
2. After that, it started downloading update and instaling it, while G2 went to "Update firmware screen"
3. It stopped arround 23 % with "ASSERT" message.
4. I changed PC machine, and went to lap top because i thought it was driver related problem
5. I conected my G2 to laptop, this time with "LGMobile Support Tool", but before that i instaled all drivers again
6. Then used "Options > Recovery upgrade"
7. "LGMobile Support Tool" then downloaded update and started instaling it, while G2 was in an "Update firmware screen" mod, and stopped again like on PC around 23% with ASSERT message.
8. I put out my USB cable from phone and inserted again, and used "RETRY" option in "LGMobile Support Tool".
9. This time i got to around 30% of upgrading when ASSERT message came up.
10. I did all again and got around 40%, and again ASSERT message came up
11. So I was very persistant and I was reapiting this and I got to 50%, then 60%, then 70%. then, 80%, then 90%, then 92% and finaly got 100% of upgrading
After that, G2 rebooted, app were optimazing, and I got LG G2 working again, but i got messages "proces android.com has stoped" on every 3 seconds and i was without network.
12. Factory reset was solution, now everything is working very smooth, i am running lolipop 5.0.2 and i instaled now all my app and added my accounts.
My advice is, don't stop, repeat proces of updating for several times until you get to 100 % of upgrading software
This is very unusual, and I dont know what is causing this to happen, but it worked from 10th time

Android Car DVR Stuck in "Android is Upgrading. Optimizing App 1 of 1" - Help
Hi Folks,
I bought one generic Android Car DVR from Aliexpress. When I start the unit, it turns on and then throws this error saying "Android is Updating. Optimizing App 1 of 1". I can't get into recovery mode to clean cache or factory reset.
Model: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New...201.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dEld1sy
View attachment 4721429
Chipset: MTK8382 Quad-core
OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop systems
Error: Unit boots up and shows "Android is Upgrading. Optimizing App 1 of 1" on the screen. Can't get into recovery mode to clean cache or factory reset.

}
What I have tried so far without success:
Pressing factory reset switch - Unit switches off and then restarts, again shows the same error.
Removed SD card and tried factory reset - Didn't work.
Various combinations of power button and factory reset button - Tried multiple options listed on the web and xda forum, but nothing worked.
Opened the unit and tried to short circuit IC17 as mentioned in this post - I couldn't find any IC17 inside. Tried short circuit other ICs' but it didn't work.
Requested seller to help - No response received.
Any help to factory reset, clear data/cache, or flash a new rom would be really appreciable. Thanks a ton in advance.
This is no error message!
How long did you wait until you tried to kill the unit?
Give it some battery and time to get the setup complete.
It´s not the smoothest CPU inside and this can take a while.
Edit:
I think you won´t find any update for this unit, so you need to live with it or keep on trying to get some answers by the seller... but I think he is not able to give any answers.
I left it for few hours on power. After a while, the unit restarts but again gets stuck in the same screw, "Android is upgrading. Optimising app 1 of 1."
I have an older Joying Sofia unit. After the last playstore update of apps on it mine also starting doing this. If I hit reset multiple times I can sneak past it sometimes, but then Im back to factory and lose all my setup. It sits for hours saying its optimizing app 1 of 1 if I dont touch it. I spent countless hours this last weekend reflashing it, factory resets etc. I noticed it wouldn't start doing it till the google apps were updated via playstore then. Once I uninstalled google (the main google app) it stopped. It sucks, Joying wont update a almost 3 year old unit with a fix I bet, and a doubt google would do anything to fix their app to stop doing this on an isolated case. I miss voice search now, but i cant wait on a head unit that takes hours to boot every time you reboot it.

Good to see that you could get past the Android is upgrading screen and uninstall Google app. However, I can't get past that screen ever.
As always, the manufacturer and sellers are not responsive.
Similar issue here. After installing the latest update of “Google” app, when I restarted the device, it started “optimizing 1 of 1 app”. After a few minutes, it restarted again, and the Android robot appeared, said erasing... it appeared only a few seconds then it restarted again. This time it took longer to boot, maybe around 5-10min.
Then ALL settings were gone!!! Installed apps were here, but no settings were saved, all apps were logout, no Wifi password saved, etc.
In my case, it keeps restarting and getting stuck at *android is upgrading* screen.
Here is something I tried to resolve the issue "Android is upgrading Optimizing app 1 of 1". It is still not resolved though.
Installed android-tools (adb and fastboot) on my Arch Linux machine.
ATTEMPT 1: Formatting data via adb shell.
I ran the following commands:
su
adb usb
adb devices
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data
I get an error: Segmentation fault
Then I ran the below command:
wipe data
I get an error:
Wiping /data
Error opendir'ing /data 'Permission denied'
Done wiping /data
ATTEMPT 2: Factory reset via fastboot
I ran the following commands:
su
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot -w
I get an error:
Erasing 'userdata' FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Ran the below command:
fastboot format userdata
I get an error:
mke2fs 1.44.4 (18-Aug-2018)
Creating filesystem with 204800 4k blocks and 51296 inodes
Filesystem UUID: b35904ca-c94c-420e-859d-b4a56071bbc9

Sending 'userdata' (476 KB) OKAY [ 0.032s]
Writing 'userdata' FAILED (remote: 'download for partition 'userdata' is not allowed
')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Finally, I tried to unlock bootloader with the following command:
fastboot oem unlock
Now, I see a message on the DVR screen that says
"Press the volume updown buttons to select Yes or No".
Yes (Volume Up): Unlock
No (Volume Down): Do not unlock
Unfortunately, there are no volume up/down buttons on the car DVR. All I have is a power button and a reset button. Is there a way to emulate volume up button?

An error has occurred while updating the device software

Hi!
So my phone is stuck with the "an error has occurred while updating the device software" and that screen only shows when i charge my phone with wall brick. If i try to connect my phone with usb to pc nothing happens.
Even if i try to enter download mode. Any suggestions what I can do?
Try using the power button for a hard reboot.
If it got a low battery % you could let it discharge until shutdown. Generally this isn't practical.
Just another reason I don't allow updates...

You could try pulling the battery connector... hard reboot.
If that doesn't work, it's bricked.

Was Odin working before?
Check Windows Event Viewer for error messages. Latest version and drivers? Roll back or update drivers as needed.
Try another port.
I have zero experience with Odin. If you can't solve it and no one else responds to this thread, start a new thread for this issue. Lots of help here for that! Google search as well with XDA in the search parameters.

Once again check with your PC driver manager. Please confirm it's shows unknown driver or samsung device...if it shows unknown driver, then it happens only connected on bricked phones
Just happend to me too, Odin got stuck when flashing vendor.img (S10+, SM-G975).

tl;dr: after installing the tool (windows, I used it in a W10 sandbox VM on my linux host; make sure to pass the USB device into the VM!)
1) Connect the phone, make sure upper right hand dropdown lists it.
2) Ignore the "Please select your device" drowdown, leave it at "SC-01C". S10 Series isn't in there anyhow.
3) Select "SoftBrick Fixer"
4) Press "Hijack it!"
5) Phone should reboot and be in DL mode again
6) Flash again from ODIN with a GOOD cable and a DIRECT connection to the Host!
