S3 in canada and ROMs - Galaxy S III General

So I'm trying to consider whether I will purchase the International version or the LTE Canadian version...
I know that in terms of the processor's, quite frankly, they are identical for performance, with the LTE having better cores but the International having 4, so this isn't exactly a problem of "which is better"..
What I'm curious about, is how easy/likely are ports of ROMs and Mods going to be from the international version to the LTE version? Because quite frankly even if the Canadian version is outright better I want some dev support.. :/
What do you guys think? Same dilemma as with the HOX intn'l vs LTE ><

I will take LTE speeds and the 2 GB memory...

No yeah they seem awesome and the CPU will perform pretty much identically, but I really like the dev community the HTC Desire Z had and I want something similar :/

There probably wont be many ports of international roms if any at all. Though, if the Canadian and US versions are the same that will certainly bring more to the lte version in the way of development.
I'm getting the international version version for several reasons.

Korean Note to be released on 11-29

To All who are interested (TMO ppl) The South Korean Note is scheduled to be released on 11-29-11. This will be a variant of the Euro version and is scheduled to have penta-band capability (1700/2100) It also is a LTE version capable of 42 mb d/l (theoretically) You can read more here:

If some people think there is lag on the Note with the 1.4Ghz Exynos they'll really think it lags with the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon.

Unless your in an LTE market that this Korean Note will work on and you have an Unlimited data plan there's no reason to get it. The 1.5Ghz Snapdragon is slower than the 1.4Ghz Exynos in the current non-LTE Note. It's slower than the 1.2Ghz Exynos in the SGS2 and people have commented on how the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket which also uses the 1.5Ghz Snapdragon isn't as snappy as the SGS2.

As far as the snapdragon being slow, remember I have tried both chips and unless you are a gamer it is not that noticeable of an issue especially, when new roms start rolling out.

Ditto.
The only way you are going to experience better speeds would be on ATT's network.
If you're on T-Mo, buy a GNex (has pentaband HSPA+)
If you REALLY want a Note - time to switch carriers. International unlocked Note + Straight Talk BYOD SIM is your best bet.
hmm im planning to only use wifi, so it shouldnt worry me so much then?
international version has more user if you compare it to at&t version, more user means more dev, and the only limitation is at&t support LTE HSDPA+, but international version no..
In my honest opinion the international.
Because much faster processor and gpu.

How I bricked my phone is a few days

Rooting the phone was pretty strait forward.
Until I tried to flash an omega rom for i9300.
I thought since the recovery and boot partition are separate hard bricking the phone is near impossible.
it is very possible.
sent it to mobile tech videos for a JTAG repair.
It just arrived today ill keep you guys posted.

I have neither, but all I can say is that I'll never buy a non-nexus phone from Samsung. If you want good software, wait for the nexus, but if you want good hardware, the S3 would be for you. Personally, I feel that only good hardware isn't what all a person needs..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I have both. Nexus is rooted, S3 not yet. S3 manages it's power a lot better. Nexus must be rooted to achieve decent battery life. Hardware is much better on S3, but I wouldn't have a problem going back to my nexus either.

Also the camera is really fast, no delay! So far the only complaint is the radio is not as good as my Razr but from what I read the nexus is just the same!

The S3's bootloader on Verizon is locked. That right there makes me want to keep my Nexus. I'm new to Samsung anyways. Only had my Nexus for a few weeks now. I've played with the S3... its a sweet phone. The screen and camera are amazing! But I'm content with my Nexus for now.

I don't have a Nexus, but I've played with one and it's certainly a great phone.
I'm an AOSP-addict, who has never once been satisfied by a manufacturer's ROM. I would crack-flash a buggy build of CyanogenMod rather than have something like Sense/Motoblur.
However... The TouchWiz on my Galaxy S3 isn't so bad when rooted and debloated. It's good enough that I switched back to it from the buggy CM10 ROM I had on it.
They're both good phones, but it boils down to how badly you want AOSP and updates from Google.

I wouldnt say that my Sprint GS3 is that much better than my GS2 Epic Touch.I think the screen on my Epic Touch might be better.Other than this they are almist the same.In Qudrant GS3 scores aloms the same in FPS tests(i know GS3 has higher res) it beats GS2 by low margins in others, and in some tests GS2 scores higher.
Is GS3 better?Yes,but not by much. Now international quad core Xynos version is probably a lot better, and Korean quad core with 2gb of ram is the king of phones at the moment.

I speak for my self but ever sense i bought Samsung Behold 2(RIP),i loved Samsung phones mainly because of rought build quality and Amoled and dont even consider other phones(I do like Xperia's only thing missing is Amoled).

My bet is that development comes in full force. Att is offering such a sweet bundle deal on the N1520 that its hard to resist picking it up when you buy either the Note2 or the SGS4. Speaking of those two LTE devices, look at all the developent they are getting!
Patience...
As for separate threads:
I wouldn't bet on it until after the proliferation of development makes it hard to navigate within the existing shared thread.
Edit:
My mistake, looks like the Note8 that att has a deal on is the I467 not the N5120 (just checked in About Device).
Where are the N5120's coming from?

N5120 is 3g + LTE model for around the globe (minus US, which is in a totally different world of their own)...
N5100 is 3G model
N5110 is wifi only model
I would love that too. Looked through the dev forum and not a single custom kernel for n5120.

N5120 is the only model selling in Hong Kong.
+1 from me also, problem is that we need some devs to own a LTE-device and then also develop for it. A thread is good and all, but it wont magicaly make ROMS and Mods appear
And hopefully now that Samsung released 4.2.2 for the N5120 we might see some more things pop up
Guys, there is a mod post for requests in the main forum. Please post there as well.

On a side note, i would strongly recommend all users of 5100 + 5120 models to buy Sony SBH52... its not released yet, but it would make a great complement to our device...
