Which do you have, GN or GS3? Why?
What is your battery life?

I have neither, but all I can say is that I'll never buy a non-nexus phone from Samsung. If you want good software, wait for the nexus, but if you want good hardware, the S3 would be for you. Personally, I feel that only good hardware isn't what all a person needs..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I have both. Nexus is rooted, S3 not yet. S3 manages it's power a lot better. Nexus must be rooted to achieve decent battery life. Hardware is much better on S3, but I wouldn't have a problem going back to my nexus either.

The camera alone on the GS3 was enough for me to not use my Nexus anymore

Every review I have read says the Galaxy S2 beats the Nexus and the S3 is so much better than the S2 so pretty sure the S3 is better than the Nexus..
I don't have the nexus but the S3 is really sweet. I came from the Razr which I still have and use from time to time but this has better battery life than I thought. Also the camera is really fast, no delay! So far the only complaint is the radio is not as good as my Razr but from what I read the nexus is just the same!
I had both deal breaker for me was no storage on Nexus, camera and battery life. Sgs3 is much better in those departments.

Thanks for that info. Let me make sure I understand, the Nexus has not sd card. What was your typical battery life not including extended battery?
I got both and I prefer my gs3 is slimmer and camera just kill the galaxy nexus, ics touchwiz is not the bad, and now we got a pre cm10 on our gs3 night lies for cm9 and aokp m6,so I'm sticking with my Galaxy s 3,another reason is space unless you getting a cdma one the gsm one didn't cut it for me 16gb is nice but not enough, I had a 32gb iphone and got used to taking the alot pics so I would recommend you the gs3

There is always something better coming, but that something better always come late since we're in the US.
The S3's bootloader on Verizon is locked. That right there makes me want to keep my Nexus. I'm new to Samsung anyways. Only had my Nexus for a few weeks now. I've played with the S3... its a sweet phone. The screen and camera are amazing! But I'm content with my Nexus for now.

I don't have a Nexus, but I've played with one and it's certainly a great phone.
I'm an AOSP-addict, who has never once been satisfied by a manufacturer's ROM. I would crack-flash a buggy build of CyanogenMod rather than have something like Sense/Motoblur.
However... The TouchWiz on my Galaxy S3 isn't so bad when rooted and debloated. It's good enough that I switched back to it from the buggy CM10 ROM I had on it.
They're both good phones, but it boils down to how badly you want AOSP and updates from Google.

I wouldnt say that my Sprint GS3 is that much better than my GS2 Epic Touch.I think the screen on my Epic Touch might be better.Other than this they are almist the same.In Qudrant GS3 scores aloms the same in FPS tests(i know GS3 has higher res) it beats GS2 by low margins in others, and in some tests GS2 scores higher.
Is GS3 better?Yes,but not by much. Now international quad core Xynos version is probably a lot better, and Korean quad core with 2gb of ram is the king of phones at the moment.

Droids get slot of undeservrd glory in my opinion.Would you say that GS3 best phone you ever owned?
I speak for my self but ever sense i bought Samsung Behold 2(RIP),i loved Samsung phones mainly because of rought build quality and Amoled and dont even consider other phones(I do like Xperia's only thing missing is Amoled).
I own Epic 4G-best GS1 variant,Epic Touch-best GS2 variant and now GS3 on Sprint(this time Sprint version doesnt stand ot from the rest),but i love them all, even my original Epic still holds its own with ics rom.
LONG LIVE SAMSUNG!

Do you know whether the 2 gb ram quad core is regional and cant be used elsewhere in the world? I was thinking that I could have one of them shipped to me, that is if it works here where i live. Admit it, the korea variant beats everything in the market right now.

You know what,i think it is.Though quad version with 2gb ram is ether Korean or Japanese version,i think its japanese version im not sure.
But regular quad core international version with on 1gb ram is tmobile and att compatible.
Another plus to to one of the quad versions has built in tv tuner!Google it,if you have the money get one and let us know how it is.
I have both. Rooted s3 with AOKP narrowly beats the nexus. Once the s3 has a JB ROM it will be no contest.
Honestly, the nexus camera is the deal breaker.

I've heard the "Beats" audio, it's mostly enhanced bass and tweaked treble. Was not extremely impressed.
As for my new GSIII, I like it. Came from a flashed GSI. The improvement is alot more than coming from an older laptop to a state of the art one...
Yeah, I rooted it a few hours after getting it.
I came from the Aria, so the difference is pretty significant. I will say that I think the screen is ever so slightly too large. I think 4.3-4.5 inch displays are the perfect size.

But the gs3 beats it by a mile.

Happy, mostly... Wish I wouldn't have had the evo to play with first, grr... That camera knocks this one's dingle in the dirt, the display is much nicer, and the devs are killing that thing, lol, I'm sitting here with my rooted phone and thumb up my arse wishing I knew how to dev cause we have not one Damn Rom... On the other hand I do like playing with Samsung as it's a tad different than HTC. It feels maybe a little better than evo in my hands, in a strange way, the phone feels a little cheaper so I'm not as worried to use it like it's intended. This thing gets hot and has performance issues and hopefully all my "issues" are all software related... It does have removable battery which is huge for me as I like to keep a few extra batteries charged and ready to go, HATE to be tethered to a wall. The sound on this thing is really loud and clean, really appreciate that... The digitizer is a bit spastic at times but that might just need tweaked as well... It does have 2GB's of ram:-~ lol, I don't know any Sammy devs either, did they all go to evo??? Lol, Need to flash something, going through withdrawals:-o I also don't have any of the display having the black spots or weird colors so maybe I got lucky for once... Ramble, ramble...

I have an evo lte too and it's screen + camera is beautiful. I just got my s3 in today and I'm sure they will be more devs when everyone is actually able to get the s3. I mean I pre-ordered mine on the 7th and it didn't even come until today with all the shortages.
Give it time, the devs will come here =)
Hey well ive had my gs3 for about a week coming from two years on the epic....and just wanted to chime in my humble .02 for those skeptics that are undecided wether to jump ship or not. Ill start off by saying im a die_hard physical user and I couldn't be happier with my new fone. It takes a lil to get used to the onscreen keyboard but since the screen is bigger its extremely accurate. My second biggest concern was the lack of lte in my area (los angeles).... but with the awesome help of xda developers, a couple of tweaks here and there and my speeds are not bad at all. The battery on this fone is awesome....also with tweaks here and there. Overall this fone is a beast....camera is awesome with no lag and bluetooth sound streaming on my car is clearer and louder. I got the otter carriying case which is extremely sturdy and helps the fone not feel so light. Two spare batteries oem and a battery charger, a new bluetooth motorola elite silver with awesome sound and battery through which i can stream music and a hdmi dock audio for my tv and i couldnt be happier. If anyone is interested ill report my current rom/setup and tweaks and if u have any reasonable questions or concerns ill keep an eye on this thread. Hope it helps!!!

1) LTE? 2) KB: do miss it, no way is on screen KB replacing a physical one 3) Screen is huge but I honestly can't tell much of an improvement over Epic quality wise, 4) it is smooth, with these specs - but hate TW in any iteration and S3 AOSP development isn't there yet AFAIK.
When LTE will show up and AOSP roms catch up S3 will be a much more attractive choice.

Different strokes for different folks. I was contemplating a VZW GNex while the 2ble data promo was still running. Came away unimpressed, less so with G3 but still. For me, having a hardware KB, a few AOSP bugs but none that bother me, avoiding a contract x 2 years on a network with a big ? in my area, OG Epic doing everything I need it to do and having all the accessories I want is just fine.
This really belongs in the new phone discussion
And the whole Nexus vs. S3 argument has been beaten to death
If you want the quickest software updates and lowest upgrade cost get a Nexus
If you want the best hardware and have a few more upgrade bucks get the S3
There, the whole discussion reader digested!

Deciding between the nexus and s.
Nexus has better processor, display and software. S3 is overall good and it has a sd slot. The cheapest S3 i found was around 420. Im guessing the nexus is gonna be around 390 after tax.

Thx. Post fixed

The S3's screen blows. That's enough for me to get the N4.. But yeah if you really need the expandable memory go for the S3. I have like 4 or 5GB of music and mostly use pandora, and no TV, I just use Netflix, so I'm fine with 16GB. Also I think the S3's build is really crappy, it feels like really flimsy plastic. I like that the Nexus 4 has a glass back (although bad if you drop it). Also stock 4.1.2 is a plus, you'll always have the newest version of android and no touchwiz.
I agree with guster I dislike the screen on the s3. If you don't need more than 16GB or a removable battery get the n4

Read the S4 forums in detail, there are a couple of dealbreakers for me, at the moment.
Screen seems to have issues, smearing and red pixels not turning completely off on black images. Hopefully they are software related (wouldn't surprise anyone) but they could be defects.

I already have a 64gb mem card thanks.. but all programs get installed to the internal memory and I have some bigs games and i'm getting fed up of making space.. Also you only get to use 11gb, not 16gb
Because I need my mem card to be formatted FAT32 so my laptop can read it I can't save files bigger than 4gb on it, therefore no HD films which i have to download to internal mem, which as that stands I don't have a 4gb spare anyway..
Using directory bind there is absolutely no need for bigger internal space

It looks nice, but the camera isn't great, battery life is hit and miss, I hate the button layout (why put the power button on the top left, yuck) and no room for extra memory.
none of the gpu s out there is enough for 1080p atm so ill stick with s3 better game performance than new phones and really very little difference on browser performance doesnt worth for upgrading atm.
HTC one also has no removable back cover/battery, so there's another negative. I don't like the trend towards 'apple'-fying new phones, having expandable memory & removable battery are very important for me!
I will keep my S3 32GB GT-9300I at least until S5, and who knows maybe untill S6 if i don't have problems with it.
it's perfect for me.

I'm coming from a galaxy s3 and I'm just fed up with the phone now. I keep getting drawn back to nexus since the Samsung Google nexus S was my first phone. I've heard rumors that the nexus would be coming in white reason I'm tempted on waiting is the white version is meant to add lte and other features for the same price am i correct or shal I just buy it now

Wait. You're gonna get 4.2.2 soon and going by the leak that might add some things you may want. Or see what the S4/HTC One have to offer (I'm getting a One soon, it's amazing IMO).
The Nexus 4 is an awesome phone, though
the leaks out and it doesn't add much from the s4 the camera in particular and the leak is a branded leak. I'm fed up with the s3 heating up and having lags. you'd think a quad core phone would not have this issue I'd use this phone if it had better Rom support but that won't happen anytime soon, and rims kill stuff like plug in play and hdmi output etc

Have you tried CM 10.1 at all? It's my ROM of choice on the Nexus 4 (except I've gone back to stock for now as I might be upgrading soon)
any Rom on the galaxy s3 has bugs Samsung won't release the documentation for the exynos processor so all roms all suffer from same bugs camera being the main one

The N4 has a worse camera and heats up less easily. However, unlike the S3 it doesn't lag at all (I can't believe how poorly optimised TouchWiz is when I use my Dad's GS3).
yeah my phone heats up bad and lags out of no we're what I hate is that this is a quad core phone I'd take my nexus s over it

THIS.
OP, please hold your horses. Wait till the N5 comes out (November). You will be GREATLY dissapointed with N4's camera. For me, camera is one of the most important parts in a phone. However, I overlooked it this time and went with N4 as I wanted a phone which is Lag free. However, I regret my decision/priority whenever I click photos with N4. I would suggest you to please wait.
my phone value will drop I just hope the price isn't too bad I'm fed up with galaxy now
