[Q] How to get official ICS to ROW version???? - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hi there,
is it possible to change region in my TPT? Actually I have ROW version and I don't want to wait a month to get official ICS.
So question is: Is it possible to change region of my TPT to EU for example? Or simply flash EU version to ROW tablet?
Thanks for answers and any tips.

Nobody knows?

The official lenevo update scripts check for specific files prior to running the install, so I expect that you would not be able to install say the US ICS udpate on a ROW tablet using the stock recovery image. And if you have root and installed CWM you probably don't want to instal the official ICS image as it will remove your root permissions.

Why I can't update from 3.0.1 to 3.2

I purchased my tablet from US and I live in india. Only one time i was able to update when i run it first time, after than never got any message for update of Android Version.
When i go to Settings>About Tablet and click on System Update and check for new version it's gives me message "Your device is up to date" and when i see the version details than these are
Model Number : A500
Android Version : 3.0.1
Kernel Version : 2.6.36-00017-gc98d63f
Build Number : Acer_A500_1.016.01_COM_GEN1
Update is not available for india yet or where i am wrong please help.
Not sure if your locale has anything to do with getting updates. That's typically an issue with 3G providers, but as long as your tablet is an A500 (wifi only version) it should find the OTA updates no problem, that it unless you are running a custom ROM. Either way, you can manually update your tablet. All the information you need is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
If you currently have a custom ROM or rooted your stock ROM, you will lose root by updating to a newer stock ROM, and the only way to recover root is by reverting back to Android 3.0. There are several custom ROM's based on 3.2 which already have root, if you also choose to go that route. If you have no idea what I mean when I mention root, just don't worry about it and carry on with that link I posted
Thanks Bloodflame, Yes i read that it can not be rooted and thank you for the link to get it update manually but i don't understand why i am not able to get updates.
And whether it is good to update with 3.0.2 ? Please suggest.

can't explain why you're unable to OTA update, but the security and performance improvements along with new features (ie, native mouse support) should make a manual 3.2 update worthwhile
Ok Thanks, I will update to 3.2 and let me see what magic it does.

[Q] OTA Update Issue

Hi to all,
i've buy this tablet used from a collegue of my friend.
He give it to me with a modify rom with 3.1 firmware (if i don't wrong, tha name of the rom are "Picasso-ROM" but i'm not sure about it).
I wanna restore the original firmware on it to take the last firmware 3.2.1 (Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1) but I can not seem to update to that version of the tablet !
At the moment with the EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1 i was able to restore the original Acer recovery (lost with old custom rom) and with OTA now i've the follow update : "A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN1" but the version of Android still 3.2 !
I would not like that when ICS comes out I will not be able to update !
How can i force it ? There is a link where i can download the OTA update ?
Thanks for your support !!
There is no way to force OTA unfortunately - if you've managed to receive the OTA 3.2 then there should be no reason you shouldn't receive 3.2.1 just give it a few days more, some here have had to wait 2-3 weeks for it so I wouldn't panic just yet
Hi,
Did you receive the 3.2.1 yet? I had the same problem yesterday...
tks.

I recently reverted from the leaked ICS 4.0.3 using ATX to flash back to stock 3.0.1. Once I did that, I tried to OTA update to 3.2, without success. So I downloaded the 3.2 update from Vache's thread, renamed it update.zip and threw it on my sdcard. Rebooted into stock recovery and updated. Once I did that, I went into settings and checked for OTA update, and it worked. So I had the same problem with OTA updates, but running 3.0.1. Perhaps downloading the 3.2.1 update will allow you to get OTA updates in the future (it should).
If you want to make sure, try downgrading to 3.0.1, then downloading the 3.2 update from Vache's thread. Then doing OTA update from your tablet and it should work. Hope that at least gives you some inspiration to try some things!
The above post is a viable way..
But also if i remember right.. You can Take any full complete rom pushed by acer.Flash it with the stock recovery.. With the catch the update rom version has to be region matched and a NEWER ROM VERSION.
Hope this makes sense. Its the procedure i have used in the past to test out a OTA.
People are doing this same thing to get the ICS LEAK. FULL ROM. acer will let you move forword as each full push from them added fixes for previous root ability and so on..
That brings me back to thinking ACER Leaked this ics rom just to see how easly it can be broken.
i want to upgrade my andriod version from 3.0.1 to 3.2 or 3.2.1
build number is acer a500 1.016.05_com_gen1
i can't get it viia normal update so if anyone can help me by link that can upgrade it i will be grateful

Which ROM to install now on YB1-X90F (android)

Hi. I've never really liked the Android version in my Lenovo but I am now facing an annoying issue with Play Store downloads getting stuck and delayed and going to have to reinstall.
At this point I am ready for a root and changing the ROM but I am rather lost in what android distribution are working and tested at the moment as after reading for a while there are some which are only for the Win version. I also see some references to X90L on threads about rooting and installing twrp but I am assumming these would work the same on my F version.
So the question is, what updated current ROMs are working fine and are worth (better than the official one) after root and TWRP on the Android version?
Also, once unlocked and changed bootloader, where can you get the official ones again?
Thanks for any help.
"Also, once unlocked and changed bootloader, where can you get the official ones again?"
You don't need it if you flash YB via Intel Flash Tool with oryginal rom.

Is it safe to install a Russian update on a Global phone?

I think the title wasn't explanatory enough, so let me tell you what's going on: I have a Mi 9T with MIUI Global 10.3.10.0PFJRUXM ROM installed on it.. I may be not knowledgeable enough and because of that I cannot comment on what's really going on here but why's the phone says it's a Global device but the ROM installed on is for Russian devices?
My second question which was also in title: I was trying to install the new MIUI 11 update by downloading the update file myself, and did download the global recovery rom(QFJMIXM) and tried to install it from the System Update menu, however, when I choose the zip file it just gives an that reads "Couldn't verify. Looks like current ROM's network carrier type is different from that in the Recovery package. Please download the correct ROM from MIUI forum" this is when I realized that my ROM is not a global one but rather a Russian one. So, I was wondering if installing a Russian update package could lead me into a bootloop or brick my device? I don't want to experiment with different update packages/ROMs to see which one I can get it to work because my BL is locked and I have no means of backing up my EFS/Modem partitions and I don't want to unlock my device.
What should I do with this? Should I wait for the OTA to arrive(previous owner said there was an update few days ago but they did not choose to install it right away and I can't see any updates as of now) or should I change my region to Russia to see if that'll work?
You have a russian device (like me...) and from MIUI System Update you can only install russian ROMs.
Of course it's perfectly safe, I did few days ago when I've got an OTA update.
You don't need to change your region.
