After I installed / tested the new roms on Rom Manager, my gallery will not read my SD card..? I d/l'ed a gallery from the market for a temp fix but does anyone have a clue as to how to fix it?

I find that gallery reads the SD card during boot-up.
If you mounted the SD-card after boot-up, or added file to your sd after bootup they typically don't show up until after reboot.
This is after many reboots.

Delete it from system/apps and reboot. Delete cache in stock recovery. Pull the gallery apk out of any of the roms here and put it in the same place....reboot.
You should be good to go.

If you still have "My Files", you can use that to open the photos into the gallery.
push that into system/app
should work..
Awesome! Thanks guys...
I will be at my laptop tonight to try it. We live on a sail boat so these things take time...lol

I finally fixed it! I used es/explorer to cut and paste the contents of the camera file into them out of another folder. It seems to work fine now... Thx for all your help.

Is there anyway yet for xoom users to write and edit the external SD card yet. 3.2 is only letting me read. Searched around and didn't see anything

Use a program like Root Explorer and change it from Read Only to R/W. I'm sure you can do it with ES File Explorer which is free.

thank for showing me the ES File Explorer. From this app, i see my micro sd are not writable. Try to find a way to change from not writable to writable from this app but i couldnt. Can i use this app to change the permission?
I do not think you can use ES File Explorer to change the permissions, but you can use Root Explorer if you are rooted.

You need to change the ES File Explorer app options. Configuration-> Root Explorer (check it). That's all. You can also use this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173195 and remount as writeable.

Thanks but after done what u said i still cannot change the permission folder. This is what I did(please advise me if I done wrong).
Before
Change:
User - nothing tick
Group - all tick
Other - one read and execute are tick
After
Change:
User - tick all(read, write and execute)
Group - nothing I change
Other - nothing I change.
I ON my USB debugging.
What should I do, because when I tick everything for user, this come out "Change Permission failed"

EDIT : Found the solution using Micro SD Mounter.
I am searching my phone with es file explorer and cant find any of my game saves, I even checked search root and nothing. I thought they were in data/data but when i open the /data folder nothing is showing... any help would be nice.
All games are different. For example, Minecraft PE is in /sdcard/games/
But some can be in /sdcard/data/
Just start scrawling about.

Using es or astro i can not see the folders i want to get into. I did a tita. backup of the game, sent it to my email. edited the .xml, saved it and then sent it back to the phone and restored it. It worked, but a pain the ass at the same time. Why wont these "root" explorer apps show all the files and folders?
For ES you need to enable root...

i did that. still not showing enough. it also doesnt show sd-ext.
What File browser(with root-browser fuction) do you use?
I'm using Root Explorer

Root Browser (File Manager) JRummy Apps. I have the paid.
Included in ROM Toolbox Pro also.
ES File Explorer, I ditched root explorer. Local storage w/ auto mount root access, network storage (dropbox, drive, box etc), ftp storage, and LAN shares all in one easy interface..

Same. To the people saying that es messes up a lot... I've never had one issue with it since last october when I got my first Android device.

Yried others, but never got used to to them ...
I like MiFileExplorer_v2.3.7.25 ... :good: (It should be on the Play Store now)
Does anyone else like it more than others?
regards
Root explorer does all I need. Sometimes I use the file manager from rom toolbox, but they're pretty similar.

Ghost Commander. I've tried everything else but kept going back to that, love the simple but highly customisable UI. My only hope is more versatility in handling compressed archives.
FX Root Explorer. Great Features.
ES file explorer.

I'm looking for a program that can download, open and extract zip files. Any ideas or recommendations?

I like Zarchiver. It doesn't have the best looking UI, but it does its job, and does it well. Plus, it's about the only one I could find with native support for 7z compression. It's also fast & lightweight.

+1 for zarchiver, fast and reliable and no bloat

I know B1 Free Archiver's not bad. is also a great file manager. I download it from Google Play, it's very easy to find it.

I used ZArchiver but it crashed sometimes in my case. Now I'm using X-plore file manager's built in archiver. In my opinion this is the best except for it's old school interface..
Please press the thanks button if I helped you.
Have a good day...
Extracted files lose their timestamps
I like the TotalCommander file manager, which has a very fast and efficient ZIP built in amongst other great features.
The only problem is that when unzipping files, their timestamps get lost. The files that are INSIDE the archive reflect the correct file-date-and-time, but after extracting them, the restored files have their timestamps overwritten.
So I tried a standalone ZIP manager, ZArchiver, but i'm getting the same problem there too!
If anyone is able to extract files with their original timestamps intact, then which app are you using?
TIA
