Goodmorning,
Does someone know where I can download official HTC released ROM files? HTC doesn't publish their ROM images on a own FTP server, but referes to the operator sites. I bought my P3300 in the Netherlands (www.misco.nl), but my device isn't (apparently) imported trough the official Dutch importer (www.smartmobility.nl). Smart
Mobility doens't have my IMEI number in their database, with the result that I can't access the ROM-updates. Does someone know the official UK HTC importer, where I can try to check for ROM-updates? I suppose they will recognise my IMEI-number...
I can't understand why HTC distributes their ROM update so laborious. It would be much easier I they would publish it on www.htc.com. Is is easy, one central point for all customers and users are always 100% sure that they have the latest version of the ROM. Now we are depenable of the "operators" and they use IMEI-verification, maybe they are late with putting ROM updates online, etc, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Roger
Well for now you shouldn't worry - there aren't any 'official' upgrades at the moment (I just checked the Smart Mobility site). When/if they are released, I'm sure you'll be able to get them through different channels.

You need to replace the SDDL of the rom by the tg01_sddl+.exe from this FTP
thanks man,but by the way, what do you mean by replace the SDDL?do you mean I should change the flie name or....?
just delete the old "sddl.exe" (from rom folder)
and copy\paste the new "sddl+.exe" (from the ftp) in your storage card with the prg folder of the rom..

I understand that use of SDDL+.exe is now considered obsolete since there is a hardware method of entering bootload available... following links refer:

TG-01 Flash Unlock
Hello.
Could someone advise whether flashing the TG01WP-WM6.5-Generic-IT.zip as described in this thread (two pin short) gives a no-sim-lock phone?
Would flashing Orange TG01WP-WM6.5-Orange-UK.zip onto a Generic ROM then give an Orange branded phone with no sim-lock?
Thanks in advance - Looking to save a few Pounds and get up and running quickly!

I doubt it. Mine was an orangeRO locked, flashed on italian ROM with sddl+ and still orange locked.
Not able to install the English rom
I tried installing the English version downloaded from the Toshiba website.. it says the variant is in valid... can some body help me.
Did you paste the due files at the SD Card root, or inside a subfolder? Trouble could come from that...
The files are on the root of the SD Card... It says SD download failed...
I suppose you used sddl+ as indicated...
By this way, "SD dowloading failed variant is invalid"; was not this the error message when french user tried to get an UK Rom, for instance, on Toshiba Website, and Orange did not want their customers play "rom travel" game? I am not sure I remember well about this; did you have to give your IMEI at some point?
Yes i Used My IMEI number to download the toshiba website to download the english rom
Guys if you have any TG01 buyed in EU you can pud any TG01 ROM Spaish,English,Italian etc... But if it's a Japanese or Asian TG01 don't play with it.
To change rom just pud in the SD /prg/ file and SDDL+ ne one from stepw and run it. If not the same system but we don use SDDL we use a short pin. You can find everyting on forum.
So, trying to test my understanding: (with bits of informations here and there, on this forum and others, I'm getting rather confused)
There would be different "kinds" of Tsunagis, depending wether they were sold in EU or Asia. (hardware? Toshiba programming level?)
Among european TG, due to commercial treaties with Orange, some (French, English, Helvetian) TG would be Orange branded, and sold Orange locked, while Italian TG would be unbranded?
So, if you have an Orange branded TG, still Orange locked or unlocked, you cannot just change to any European WM6.5 Rom just dowloading it from Toshiba website, where you have to "tell" your country giving your IMEI. (you would stumble on that "invalid variant" error message)
Instead, must use the stepw way, refered to in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629586, (or http://www.adryan.evonet.ro/pocket pc/Toshiba TG01/ROM-uri/), or the "short pin" confused: whatever that might be, my poor english don't allow me to understand much about it)
But this would be "dangerous" for an Asian TG, though, unless I missed the information, eekthecat did not say for how long he had been using his phone before he tried, and if he knew for sure his TG was a well working one and not a disastrous bugger (at least some french tsunagists had many problems with theirs, and gave up for another device after some exchanges that did not improve the situation, the fourth proving sometimes worse than the third!)
Wish things will be easier with cooked ROM...
meerau if interested in changing ROM, PM me and I'll help you.Je peux t'aider.
Hi guys I'm new here..just registered after spending most of last night reading ROM developments for the TG01 for the last 1 year or so. I gotta admit that instead of wanting to move away from TG01 (given all the difficulties and misadventures with the set..from other posters) I feel even more compelled to keep the one I recently purchased..crazy right!?!
Anyways I have some info and some questions..will start with the question:
1. I just purchased a TG01 (unbranded) from Italy. The set is running WM6.1 and is brand new..still in the box. I would like to change the ROM to English and the only reason for that is that I prefer english despite understanding both languages...other than that I have no desire to go further and install UI variations of other phones (HTC, etc) as I really see no point in creating problems for myself..what I gather from most posts is that alot of users apply mod's which temporarily seem fine and balanced BUT eventually lead to some sort of problem which is then modded thus solving the initial problem but creating a new one..so on and so forth until phone in many cases dies. (Comment: I am confused why many users flash their ROMS to English when they can't even speak or read English at a basic level?!? Once again I dont see the point..someone enlighten me ...ooops back to the question...So..is there any suggestion or help I can recieve in changing the ROM from Italian to English? Should I do this after the 6.5 upgrade in Italian or? Suggestions please.
2. Toshiba Asia recently started realeasing TG01 to certain Asian countries and one that may be of interest for a generic English Language ROM is Malaysia. I recently picked-up a TG01 in a store in Kuala Lumpur and it was a locally certified and guaranteed set with no 'Telcom Carrier Branding'. It was unlocked and not an import phone from other TG01 markets..and the ROM was in ENGLISH!! This TG01 came preinstalled with WM6.5 (not 6.1) but I had no intention of buying it as I already have the new italian set and more importantly it costs more than 500 Euros vs. the Italian one I bought for a net 287 Euros.
Maybe this can be a new and more reliable lead on how to get a generic ENG ROM instead of playing doctor frankenstein with 'carrier branded' ROMS in English.
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Ciao
Hello guys,
First of all Happy new year.
I just got a Samsung Tab and I am learning on it (how to ROM...etc...)
But since it is my first device (android) I would like some help from you
anywhere I can find some tutorials...help ?
what is ROm and what's the difference between ROM and Firmware
what is CSC ? is JPJK2 the latest version ? how ? where ?
thanks a lot.
Pierre
@Pierre. What country are you in, what mobile carrier do you use and what's the sales code on your phone? No one will be able to give you ROM version advice without these basic details.
ROM and firmware are the same thing, people use the names interchangably. The ROM/firmware is the usually seen as the PDA version thats on the device as this is the Android operating system. The devices also have modem software and the CSC (customer specific customisations). The modem code contains drivers for the modem (ie data and voice), WiFi and (afaik) bluetooth. The CSC contains vendor specific applications and mobile network connection details (eg. APN settings).
Have a look around in this forum and in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for tutorials / advice etc and enjoy your Tab!!
If I've given any bad information above, could someone who knows more please feel free to correct me!
Hi!
I'm completely new to WP7. I bought a HTC Trophy last week that unfortunately is branded with Vodafone. I live in Sweden and bought it from a company here in Sweden who take the devices from Europe. I don't know the exact country. I guess it is a Vodafone device from German since the pdf manual on the CD is German.
My questions:
1. How can I be sure that I choose the correct ROM?
2. If I choose wrong, will I brick my device?
3. Debranding. I guess it's a one time procedure? If I debrand it I will get the updates directly from Microsoft and the device is still debranded after a update?
By the way. Great forum! Developers, keep up the excellent work!
Regards

1. Go to Settings -> System -> About -> More info
Find your operator here from this thread
Then you need to find appropriate ROM for your device.
2. It should not let you flash wrong ROM even if you try. Update utility check your phone model and CID. So it should be safe.
3. If you unbrand your device, you will still get updates from MS, and from HTC. If you for some reason want to install branded ROM later, you can do that at any time (if there is a branded ROM for your device), check here.
i am going to use this thread to post a question. After battling with wm 6.5 for more than an year i went to wp 7. I am new to the operating system and i wan't to know if there is any real need to go for a different Rom than the one that came with my device. Is there a need to unbrand the phone?

Well, for me personally I unbranded my phone mostly for two things.
1. The annoying Vodafone page that I came to when pressing search button in Internet Explorer.
2. In the future I hopefully get the updates as soon as Microsoft releases it. When branded I had to wait for Vodafone to test the update.

I'm actually planning to buy a WP7.. wondering does it same as winmo which we dont nid Rooting ? or it is like Android or iOS tat we nid rooting/JailB ? thanks..
Debranding has nothing with jailbreak to do. I'm not sure if jailbreak is possible on latest WP7 release. For me jailbreak isn't an option. Just wanted to get rid of all Vodafone stuff in my device.
I got a small question and I am hoping that someone can help..
Right now I am running the NODO update on my non-branded omnia 7 with the chevron unlock. When the Mango update comes out it is finally possible to choose the Dutch language as live account, that means i have to hard reset my phone (and lose my unlock) to config this account. Is there a way to downgrade to a pre-nodo rom?
I saw on the forum that zune makes a back-up of your previous ROM, but somehow this didn’t happened with me.... The reason why i want my unlock is that i use alot of app's that are not in the market or not made for the samsung (like advanced config, a real flashlight app and the htc app )
Is the solution to flash the I8700XXJK1 firmware??
I appreciate any kind of help
Hello,
So about using dutch on your phone, Im quite sure if you go into your settings > region, you'll be able to change your language but if that doesnt work, the firmware i've linked has dutch preloaded. forgive me if it isnt dutch but im sure it is
http://hotfile.com/dl/108507919/184f77a/I8700DBTJK1.rar.html
its the DBTJK1 firmware
heey kingjovius
Thanks for your reply, I see now it's possible to change the language of your phone... I thought it's only possible when the phone is turn up for the first time
I hope the Mango update comes pretty soon so I can get the Dutch language, if not i will flash that rom you posted
I think he is confusing Dutch with German (as it says DBT in de ROM file).
