ICS is in Malaysia now! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Malaysia user can now enjoy the long waited ICS, and update is being pushed to me this morning and I'm now a happier note user

Stop making a new thread for every Regional release of ICS...this is making things difficult for everyone...It will be released for all the regions...It's not a big deal anymore...just telling you...

Why i did not get this update? I try OTA, but nothing..

Probably thought Kies, otherwise thats cause the dude has a different csc then Malay csc. Mwahaha. Like a lot of Americans with international note import from from Germany say USA has ics update lmao

Got mine yesterday.. I would say its quite good. Just dat the system notification is a bit too soft and the lock screen sound is delayed by 2 secs. Another thing is, camera mode is not stable.. Otherwise good.

My camera stop working at the first time, need to force close the app few times before it starts working again, strange!
I'm using face unlock now hence didn't notice the delay.

lol if everyone did one for every region.. that'll be pretty annoying

Great!! Just update it via kies!! Love the creamy teast of ICS..time to explore...
1st impression..i love how the stock font of ics looks like!!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

I barely see difference between gb and ics, makes the whole waiting a bit dissapointing. I guess for most users it is comfortable.
Ics should also be more battery efficient, dont know how Samsung managed to mess that up.
Anyway speedmod kernel is pretty good combo, for seeking to increase battery life

My note crashed abnormally on ICS after a phone call morning, the screen turned still with blue lines covered.
Battery life is like 1%/min use time, tried everything this forum suggested but still poor.

Google would have notified the community via twitter if they pulled it. Their original tweet said it would take a few weeks to get it out to everyone. Either wait patiently or push the update file readily available here on these forums.

So you want the update but you don't want the color change...? I'm confused. You can very easily backup 2.3.2 or even get the 2.3.2 colors on 2.3.3 with any Voodoo kernel
Also, I can say that for myself, the new colors look perfect. I wouldn't change them back for anything.

you never even tried 2.3.3 so you wouldnt know if you liked the color change or not. you can also flash a custom kernel (Netarchy's 1.2.5 has 2.3.2 colors and it works on 2.3.3)

the color is a intentional change they officially announced it
And actually a friend of mine updated his ns over the weekend and his looks like sh*t,but like some have said "not every screen is the same" may manually update tonight just to see what happens...

I plan to update when I get the OTA. Haven't cared so much about it that I wanted to bother with the manual update. Still waiting on it, but we're only about halfway through the rollout period Google said to expect.
Was wondering the same thing, when 2.3.2 came out, me and my wife's ns got it 1 day apart. My wife's ns has gotten 2.3.3 for one week now, and mine still hasn't.
Just went cm7 today.
I was wondering along the same lines that OP said..
Havent received the OTA notification yet, and i've been 'checkin' quite often ...

yes it's 2.3.3 and it took me freakin 8 times retry to complete. it stalled arbitrarily between 30% - 80% for no obvious reason and no error code except: fail
well, an official update is always welcome anyway. and i still kinda like it "stock" for the moment
Yes, I was also really really hoping for a 2.3.4 update as I'm still trying to stick to stock.
After updating, I was really hoping that the Android OS bug in the battery use would have definitely been addressed seeing as it's been such a big pain in the @$$ so surely Samy would have fixed that first but nope, I still have the Android OS showing as 80 - 90% battery usage!! so I still barely get a day out of it if I'm lucky.
and yes, I had the same issues to while updating - I'm located in India and using a 10 mbps connection and it still struggled 5-6 times before it could complete the download. I read somewhere it is due to Samsung's crappy servers - not sure how far thats true but looking at the results from people from most parts it looks like the same.
Anyone notice any differences at all? Or does this update just change the number to make us feel happier, officially? Why is there never a changelog or perhaps I am just unaware of it.
It downloaded fine for me without interruption.
They really don't give a change log. Sammy thinks that firmware update improvements should be a surprise. Lol.

Really I've updated how many times already, 5 or 6, and in just 3 months, and I'll call them downgrade as they killed this device's good battery backup in terms of tick-tack gimmicks, it shows Samsung is not polished, that's all.

I find a little strange that there was no 4.2.2 leak ...

With the S4 just weeks away from the final release presumably directly on 4.2.2 wouldn't have been a very smart idea to have something similar to that for S3 'accidentally' leak towards XDA so that Samsung could have many thousands of highly-qualified beta-testers iron-out most of the last-second surprises? Since the 4.2.1 leak was not looking very convincing to me, and it looked like it really needed more extra testing ...
I find a little strange that... Samsung still updating the S3
I find it a little strange how you expect someone to risk their job for you.

Well a common theory is that Samsung are themselves responsible for the leaks, or at the very least, very much aware of, but indifferent to their occurrence.
And it makes sense. So many development ROMs get leaked, it seems odd to think that they would have NO way to prevent, or at least reduce, them if they wanted to.
IMHO makes business sense, when you think about it...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'm sure we will get a leak when they have something worth leaking, alpha testing is more than likely conducted in house, for obvious reasons, and I wouldn't expect a 4.2.x update for at least 8 weeks after the s4 release.
My opinion about leaks is that Samsung does use XDA for a cheeky bit of beta testing, when they have safe stuff to release, but I don't think they are stupid enough to release alpha stuff to the, let's face it, dubious skills of your average xda end user!
And if anyone did try leaking an alpha, I'm pretty sure they would get hung out to dry!
....but then I might be completely wrong!

I had it running for at least 3 weeks myself. The main reason I stopped using it was the battery life. I was getting about 4-6 hours with my 2500mah extended battery and would get pretty warm frequently. I have spare batteries, but it still got to be too much. I don't know if that was common for others, but I have a habit of running a lot of apps at the same time with push notifications and such, I think power management wasn't built out very well so it really impacted my use. The same apps and such get me about 8-10+ hours with the 4.1 roms (nearly double the battery life).
There were a few other little issues as well. I stuck it out longer than usual hoping some more 4.2 leaks would come out, but none did. Even the custom roms releases didn't offer any improvements, just the usual google apps updates.
Not a big deal, I mostly wanted 4.2 because I was hoping for camera updates, widget lockscreen, toggle panel, etc. I liked the widget lockscreen, but they didn't do anything with the camera. The toggle panel didn't prove to be that useful because the 25 toggle mod kinda does that just fine anyway. Other than the 4.2 improvements that samsung included from the stock 4.2 experience, I'm not really in any rush for a 4.2 rom on the S3. Other than smart stay and smart notifications, I really don't use many of the current S3 gimmicks and the S4 software gimmicks are just more of the same. Even google now is much more useful than s-voice.

I don't think you understood my post - I was suggesting that it would make good business sense for Samsung to make that leak (and some other posters have noted the same thing about the older leak).
The final S4 will face one order of magnitude more competition now than S3 did one year ago, so having bugs that result in many apps not working well or too much power consumption and so on would NOT be good for Samsung, and the only way to test that on a large scale (give that there are no large scale S4 deployment) would be to "fake leak" a 4.2.2 for S3 - which the S3 WILL get anyway in the final form at some point!
Usual is we get a leak its probably a beta test deliberate leak .
Then it takes a fair while before the genuine release rolls out .
XDA cheap beta testers .

But i do think Samsung will first release 4.2.1 without s4 feature and then release 4.2.2 with s4 features same like they did with s2 and s3 (4.1.1 and 4.1.2)
Because if they give us a update directly with s4 features it will affect s4 sales
Anyways it is now heard that android 5.0 is postponed and will not com in Google io so we gave plenty of time for 2 updates
