Wondering if Google has quit pushing the ota.... - Nexus S General

I have not seen or heard anybody receiving the 2.3.3 update lately, am starting to wonder if Google put a hold on it,has anybody received it via ota recently? ??
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

Google would have notified the community via twitter if they pulled it. Their original tweet said it would take a few weeks to get it out to everyone. Either wait patiently or push the update file readily available here on these forums.

So you want the update but you don't want the color change...? I'm confused. You can very easily backup 2.3.2 or even get the 2.3.2 colors on 2.3.3 with any Voodoo kernel
Also, I can say that for myself, the new colors look perfect. I wouldn't change them back for anything.

you never even tried 2.3.3 so you wouldnt know if you liked the color change or not. you can also flash a custom kernel (Netarchy's 1.2.5 has 2.3.2 colors and it works on 2.3.3)

the color is a intentional change they officially announced it

And actually a friend of mine updated his ns over the weekend and his looks like sh*t,but like some have said "not every screen is the same" may manually update tonight just to see what happens...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

Yes it was intentional, but so are updates they release....doesn't mean there perfect or without flaws, always room for improvement ...just saying...

I plan to update when I get the OTA. Haven't cared so much about it that I wanted to bother with the manual update. Still waiting on it, but we're only about halfway through the rollout period Google said to expect.

Was wondering the same thing, when 2.3.2 came out, me and my wife's ns got it 1 day apart. My wife's ns has gotten 2.3.3 for one week now, and mine still hasn't.
Just went cm7 today.

I was wondering along the same lines that OP said..
Havent received the OTA notification yet, and i've been 'checkin' quite often ...
but like kenvan19 said...google did say it'll take a few weeks..so let's hang tight..

You will also have to give yourself about two weeks of use to get used to color temperatures that are actually accurate.

Did any of you get the 2.2 froyo market all of a sudden?

Just noticed this today...I now have the froyo market on my fascinate (3 different tabs, "update all" button in downloads, etc.). I know this is the 2.2 market because I got this when I got 2.2 on my droid.
I find this weird but exciting. Anyone else get it?
yea mine has 3 tabs aswell.
I've had it for over a week.
That's not the 2.2 market. There's even a newer one coming "in a few weeks"

The market has received a few updates, and even more are on the way.
The version most people have now (the one that added the "Related" tab) is actually not the "Froyo market", though, it's even newer.
We *had* the Froyo market for a few weeks before this one (2 tabs, separated about and comments, update all, and the added auto-update checkbox), but now all Android versions (at least, 1.6+) get the same markets.
Here's the complete overhaul that's coming next: http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/11/android-market-update-streamlines-content-nukes-tabs-dismantle/
we already have that too.
Damn xda is slow on the updates.

I think I got it after flashing blackhole. How do market updates work? Are they completely independent of everything else? Like if I'm on blackhole will I get the new market automatically, or do I have to install it myself?
The new (ripped, leaked one... not the "new" old one mentioned here) runs like ass, and randomly closes. Anyone else have this issue?

Will we get Froyo automatically?

I hate to have to ask this question, but I've read 6 or 7 threads in the last hour and can't find a straight answer. I'm in S. FL. Will Froyo be updated on our phones automatically?
I understand I can update manually, but I don't have time for that, which is part of the reason I left WinMo.

If you are on stock Android 2.1 (Eclair), you will get the update over the air within the next 3 days.
If you are not stock Android 2.1 (Eclair), you won't.
Yes. If you are not rooted and stock rom, you'll get a notice on your phone over the next few days when it's your area's turn. If you are rooted, you should still get it if you are on stock rom and all the bloatware is still there.

The first update we received a few months back took a week to get to my phone, and it kept popping up at rather inconvenient times when it finally showed. The visual voice mail update took 4 weeks to get to my phone. I'm in Central FL
I did the simple update method, which I posted about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964260. I had my update installed before most OTAs, and I did it on my time. You could do it on your lunch break without issue.

Just realize that the Samsung tool wipes everything on your phone, and if you are on stock 2.1 I don't think there is any good way to back up everything. (no clockwork backup and titanium wont work w/o root)
My backup pro works just fine. it will save data and apps with data.

So is that it, Samsung not going to release the fixed Froyo!? After waiting eternity, Samsung released a long over due Froyo just to shutup pissed customers, only for the release to be buggie and them take it down shortly after and totally forget about us again! I think this will be the last Samsung phone I ever buy!
Samsung = company that only cares about future products...not supporting current/old ones.

I think it sucks. The biggest thing in Gingerbread is sip calling which has been taken out. All they did was add pretty animations. HUGE disappointment

OK, so I just installed it and it worked like a charm! It runs beautifully and it is quite a bit more responsive in my opinion. I'm going to begin testing everything I can. Running the hell out of it lol.
EDIT: OK, so far I have only one complaint. The hard buttons at the bottom of the phone are now insanely bright. It isn't a serious problem, but it is definitely a significant difference that I would like to see options for.
The buttons have been overly bright on all of the Gingerbread leaks, and unfortunately they still don't work quite right, even on the OTA version. They turn off and never come back on. That's my only complaint about Gingerbread. Other than that, it's fast, smooth, and looks great. I looked at an Xperia Play today with more or less stock Gingerbread, and I have to say, it was kind of ugly compared to Gingerblur, in my opinion.
Gingerbread
So far it hasn't been too bad, but I am waiting on a ROM based off of .596.
Anyone have a link to this that is not downloading at like 10KBps or have the direct google server address? If I can ever get this stupid thing to finish downloading I am thinking of mirroring it on something that doesn't the stupid ad-bloated crap. Just going to throw it up on a directory on my web server.
OK finally got it downloaded will install it and see how it runs a bit before uploading the image.
I updated my droid x to the stock version of gingerbread last night. With the exception of a few totally unrelated incidents, it seems to be working great. Gingerbread seems to be snappy and the new ui tweaks are mostly welcome. I have not noticed a big difference between 595 & 596. Thanks to black hat team for their hard work.
They got rid of the 'Paste from Clipboard' option ...I used tthat a lot in Froyo. Does anyone know.a way to get that available?

New market version

I just felt like complaining a little and wanted to know if anyone else is annoyed with the new version of the market. The ui took a little getting use to, but my biggest complaint is how screwed up the reviews of apps are. The most recent are not at the top like they use to be. Now its a mix of anything from a week to a year old. We can't make a decision about an app based on reviews of versions that are outdated. Sorry, just had to vent.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Nope I love it, it's the bees knees.. :-*

I hate the fact that it will show an update is available for the app however, unless you have multiple and can therefore click "update all", you have to wait at least an hour or two to select update.
Indeed. The reviews are the only thing I'm not liking. It doesn't even make sense. I like checking the mentions when an app gets an update and this totally kills it. There is no structure / reason to it.

It's fine; I have no issues with the new market and like the look better than the old market. Other than that, it is the venue through which I get apps on my phone so in that respect it has not changed for me.

Umm yea we're getting 2.3.6 too, possibly ics themed (value pack) because of the whole carrier iq thing iirc. If it took this long to get us gingerbread it would have been 2.3.6 too, but they decided to not totally screw us by giving us a pretty decent update a couple months back.

Finally I moved the3 apps that COULD go to sd and it helped but it's still at 52MB total available. It seems the update just caused problems. My wife is upset that it changed the theme too. She doesn't like change lol. She ran her moment on CL14 and absolutely refused to update... Ever! I guess I wish they have an option in the update popup like "I like my phone how it is". /rant

If you were payin attention to the posts aroud here instead of ogling your friends phone, you would see Samsung and Sprint have been working on a 2.3.6 update almost immediately after they released 2.3.5 to us. Samsung isn't screwing anyone. It takes them time AND Sprint's approval before updates go out to this Touchwiz loaded phone.

I think you are asking the wrong question. "How could they get 2.3.6 when we only have 2.3.5?" isn't as important as "Is the user experience on a Samsung Replenish running 2.3.6 better or worse than it is on an Epic 4g running 2.3.5".

Exactly. 2.3.x is still 2.3 -- end of story. It's end-user experience that counts. That, and the Replenish is a pretty crappy phone compared to the Epic.
