Just throwing this out there - Epic 4G General

I have a friend at work that has the replenish and he just got ginger 2.3.6 yesterday and ek16 I think but I don't see how a phone like that got it over us... any ideas as to why samsprnt likes to screw there customers?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Umm yea we're getting 2.3.6 too, possibly ics themed (value pack) because of the whole carrier iq thing iirc. If it took this long to get us gingerbread it would have been 2.3.6 too, but they decided to not totally screw us by giving us a pretty decent update a couple months back.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

Psh... I've already got 2.3.7 on my phone. Go cm7!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk

My wife's replenish got it and the thing told her she had low internal storage (11MB) after the update. She only has 5 downloaded apps! She deleted ~400 texts and it didn't budge 1MB. Finally I moved the3 apps that COULD go to sd and it helped but it's still at 52MB total available. It seems the update just caused problems. My wife is upset that it changed the theme too. She doesn't like change lol. She ran her moment on CL14 and absolutely refused to update... Ever! I guess I wish they have an option in the update popup like "I like my phone how it is". /rant
I swear there's a point in there somewhere.

If you were payin attention to the posts aroud here instead of ogling your friends phone, you would see Samsung and Sprint have been working on a 2.3.6 update almost immediately after they released 2.3.5 to us. Samsung isn't screwing anyone. It takes them time AND Sprint's approval before updates go out to this Touchwiz loaded phone.

I think you are asking the wrong question. "How could they get 2.3.6 when we only have 2.3.5?" isn't as important as "Is the user experience on a Samsung Replenish running 2.3.6 better or worse than it is on an Epic 4g running 2.3.5".

Isn't the last number only account to the fact they need to release bug fixes anyway? XD correct me if I'm wrong.

Exactly. 2.3.x is still 2.3 -- end of story. It's end-user experience that counts. That, and the Replenish is a pretty crappy phone compared to the Epic.

All signs point to us getting it but it will most likely take 2 months for binaries to be released and a build to be compiled. And I don't want to hear the nah sayers going on and on that you can't trust samsung blah blah blah... Even noob said we are getting it and I know he is on this inside track.

We will probably get it around the time that 3.0 comes out or 3.1 usually how it works. 2.3 comes out now..sprint releases 2.2 to epics... at least we get updates faster than most US carriers do. Look at evo. Sprint plz OTA 2.2 already.

I expect things to change greatly once 3.0 comes out..this is when release cycles for android will slow down thus giving manufacturers more leeway..
Agreed. I think they are planning on phazing out UI overlays as well when 3.0 comes out. No more motoblur, sense, tw, etc. For the tech geek we like it because we port things over from other platforms. But the Ios boobs they just want something shiny and homoginized, and that's probably the demographing android wants to really take on

Utter misinformation.
As of today, Samsung's U.S. Galaxy S support site on Twitter still denies that there has been any such announcement.
@JoeBatson no official statement about updating US Galaxy S line to 2.3 has been made & we aren't prepared to discuss this at this time.

Will we get Froyo automatically?

I hate to have to ask this question, but I've read 6 or 7 threads in the last hour and can't find a straight answer. I'm in S. FL. Will Froyo be updated on our phones automatically?
I understand I can update manually, but I don't have time for that, which is part of the reason I left WinMo.

Yes. If you are not rooted and stock rom, you'll get a notice on your phone over the next few days when it's your area's turn. If you are rooted, you should still get it if you are on stock rom and all the bloatware is still there.

I did the simple update method, which I posted about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964260. I had my update installed before most OTAs, and I did it on my time. You could do it on your lunch break without issue.

After waiting eternity, Samsung released a long over due Froyo just to shutup pissed customers, only for the release to be buggie and them take it down shortly after and totally forget about us again! I think this will be the last Samsung phone I ever buy!
Samsung = company that only cares about future products...not supporting current/old ones.

EG22 Samfirmware.com, Respect & Give Thanks

I just want to put my 2 cents out here for people to read.
Samfirmware.com was awesome enough to get us the latest leak after I asked on their twitter on Jul 11th, they followed through.
First I hope everyone that downloads and runs EG22 will drop by their site and twitter, @Samfirmware, and show some love, its the respectful thing to do.
I feel like having a mirror is taking away from their deserved traffic to their site and exposure, also they cant meter how many users downloaded it. Even if we just post the hotfile link they provide would be better than putting up a DB link, this way they can see how many US users are interested in the Epic4G. By doing this, maybe they will work more in future to get leaks for our phone because of the number of hits to their site, or the number on the hotfile counter.
Well the direct link is here, http://hotfile.com/dl/124888596/3935e47/D700EG22.rar.html , the password is samfirmware.com
Also I know some people feel that them saying for people to donate more from US, they are not demanding it. It cant hurt to ask, so I signed up for their one time premium deal.
Even though Im gonna DL the flashable version, Im gonna download it from their link.

Not a good enough reason. If you notice the dfferent versions of GB they've went through you'll understand that for every GB version 2.3, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, and 2.3.4; Samsung took a month to two months of testing and improving. GB been in the works since april/may starting with 2.3 and now we're at 2.3.4. And from the looks of it they're in the last month of testing and improving GB

If I wanted to be locked in to a manufacturer's software release schedule so I could ***** about delays on forums, I would have bought an iPhone. Instead, I bought an Android phone and have had Gingerbread for months.
I'm pretty happy with Froyo... ACS made it manageable.

It's all really simple if you think about it.

I could actually believe this. If you think about it, it encourages people to upgrade. Then the ones they know aren't going anywhere yet get the update after they sell their latest and greatest

Manageable Lol. My first cell phone came in its own backpack that had to be unzippered to raise an antennae and I still couldn't make a call unless I was in the middle of a big open area without so much as a friggin tree within 100 feet, and your ACS Froyo Epic is manageable. Haha that's funny sh*t right there.
Sorry couldn't resist, Flame on.
