Hi folks,
How can I make CM7 to work? Hate the stock rom.
I have followed step by step to unlock my atrix 2.3.4 bootloader and then install CWM recovery, then install CM7 ba2tf from recovery, then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, reboot.
But then my phone would not pass the moto dual core logo with "unlucked" on the top left corner.
I tried fastboot erase, use different CWM recoveries, tried both the ba2tf and nightly build, all turned out to be the same "stuck at moto dual core logo" problem.
Did I miss anything? Or my phone is just special that refuses custom ROMs...
I followed these instructions:
unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
install cm7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336232&highlight=install+cm7
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: Just tried to flash the ASOP atrix rom and it works fine! This is weird, I noticed when I install ba2tf it's really fast even though the zip is around 90MB, but installing others is very slow, like ASOP rom at around 60MB. Does that make a difference?
sbf flash a stock rom using rsd lite.
Thanks for the suggestion. I can make stock rom work... but I just wanna avoid it.
Make sure to open rom manager and do the "flash clockworkmod recovery" for your atrix. then go down to "install rom from sdcard" and let cwm do its buisness.
That was the step i missed and doing this solved the issue of not getting passed that first screen for me.

Actually I did something similar to this. After I tried another ROM that flashed the CWM to a newer version for me, then I installed the ba2tf again with the latest version of CWM and everything started to work like a charm.
Thanks!
Nice! Glad it is working.

Monzer, when you install bootmenu are you installing the .apk and then opening the app and then clicking to install 2nd init? This is the right procedure! after you do this reboot your phone and watch for blue led to flash during boot, hit volume down once it flashes blue.
What 2nd init version are you installing? here is the latest http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=792601&d=1322064151
Are you trying to flash CM7?
There is a very old version of CWM that should be suitable if all else fails you. It should work just fine to flash CM7 but not so sure about CM9. However if you want to flash CM9 You could use this old version of CWM to flash CM7 which will in turn install a new version of 2nd init which is definitely suitable for flashing CM9. This old CWM "might" work for flashing CM9 but I dunno if I would try or not! Download in my attachment below!
You MUST enable USB debugging to install.
copy the apk to your sdcard and use a file manager to install it then open the app in your app drawer and choose to install the custom recovery (with USB dubugging ON)
THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
AFTER INSTALLING THE CUSTOM RECOVERY DISABLE USB DEBUGGING.
You enter CWM by again opening the app and choosing reboot to recovery (with USB debuggind OFF)

Hey guys! I have searched all over the forums and haven't found answer. I have a Tf101 B60 running the latest ICS OTA build (US). I have rooted using ViperMod and that went well. Installed OTA rootkeeper. I installed CWR from Rom Manager and when I reboot holding volume down and power button, then volume up I just get the Android symbol with a red sign. Nothing else comes up. I'm sure I am missing something but have yet to find it searching the forums. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Use RecoveryInstaller to install CWM recovery. I would stay away from ROM manager for now.
I have 2 B60s and use BRK's root toolkit and Rogue CWM. They both have NVflash to root and install CWM respectively. Search for these here.

Hello,
I own a defy mb525 with CM7.2.0. I am not so happy with this version (bad 3g access; battery life very short)
So I decided to install the CM10.1.
On the develloper page I saw that the status has been updated on the 26.03. But if I look for my model (mb525), I can find only a version dated on the 120904.
Is there a newer version for the mb525 or is it only for the mb520 and mb526 ?
Regards

It should work for both. Same as latest builds of CM10.

2ndboot builds: they are one build for both mb525 &5 26 .... so you can download the 26.03 nightly build and update on your MB525 :good:

Yes, there is CM10 from Quarx. Your device can be either mb525 or mb526 with red lens or green lens. CM10.1 from the same person also can.

First of all, none of you guys ever read the stickies. It is packed with good info.
Our phone has a locked bootloader, it is almost impossible to brick.
Download latest CM10 and then install.
Ive come across a newbi problem im on the link of the latest cm10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702) and the file I try to flash wont install it gets aborted, I searched the forms for other cm10 and same issue file gets aborted.
If possible to be directed to the file I need to flash to cm10

out of curiousity, i restored my mb525 back to cm7 nightly 20111201 nandroid, which has cwm v5.0.3.2. i did not check the bootmenu version but it should be the same as yours. then, after formatting system/cache partitions, i flashed cm-10-20130918-nightly-mb526.zip, and it worked.
so i don't really know what's wrong with your phone, but i have a couple of suggestions for you to try. not that there's any logical explanations but try it anyway:
1. according to the error messages, you have the cm10 rom in the root folder of the sdcard. try creating a sub-folder called cm10 and copy the cm10 rom and the minimal gapps into it.
2. download the defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and defy_fullwipe_ext3.zip ( for later use, when you want to revert back your rom) from here and put them in cm10 folder as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
3. reboot into recovery but don't do any format or wipe. instead flash the file defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and this will format your partitions into the ext4 file system.
4. then flash the cm10 rom. if it installs sucessfully, then without any further wiping, nor flashing the minimal gapps, reboot the phone. (note that the os will reboot once more in the middle of booting up, seemingly having a bootloop problem. don't worry it's meant to do that, unless it rebooted more than once)
5. if it boots up sucessfully, do some basic set up first before rebooting back into recovery to flash the minimal gapps.
alternatively you could try flashing cm9.1 (ext3) to get a newer bootmenu and cwm versions before flashing cm10. no need to flash any gapps, just wipe system/cache partitions and flash the cm9.1 rom by itself. reboot into cm9.1, do basic set up. once it's ready reboot into recovery and do the above steps, starting from step 3, to flash cm10.
good luck.....
edit: did you get your cm10 rom from here:

I did try using that link but the files still would abort when flashing, also tried http://d-h.st/users/Quarx files it did the same thing
I followed your instruction but decided to goto cm 9 first I flashed the (ext3) file it installed and cm9.1 installed also installed twrp with no issues but when I was going through cm9 and its functions I couldent go on line a popup message (Unfortunately, brower has stopped) also I wasn't able to log on google play a pop up message (Unfortunately, com. google android.gb has stopped). so I got fed up and decided to goto cm10.1 so I first flashed with ext4.zip it installed and then tried to flash 10.1 file once again the file wouldn't install it gave me aborted file message again. I had no choice to reboot and I had to reinstall the factory file(brick). I am now back to where I started :silly: cm7 2.3.7 its been a hell of a weekend ........... ill give it another shot soon :fingers-crossed:
Hello,
I currently have installed CM 10.1-20130709-NIGHTLY-mb526 (Android 4.2.2, 2.6.32.9-AeroKernel), but I had a problem yesterday (phone would not boot).
So I did a Cache/Dalvik wipe, and after reboot it optimized all the apps but looped at "opening apps".
So today I decided to reinstall the above mentioned rom. But after installation it turned out to be defect somehow (e.g. the unlock screen will never appear, altough it is activated; in the swipe down menu the right-above button won't appear/won't work; browser won't turn on; home button does not work etc.).
So I decided to give KitKat a try. I visited this page by Quarx and I would begin with the Recovery Update. I put the update recovery zip on the sd card and install it via TeamWinRecovery.
After reboot, the TeamWinRecovery won't turn on and it simpy reboots. So now I am stuck. How do I install/recover TeamWinRecovery (or any necessary Recovery to install KitKat?).
After the installation I can simply install the latest KitKat rom, right? Or is there anything else necessary (kernel update etc.?). If I don't like KitKat, can I simply flash the latest CM10.2 rom?
Thank you very much!
Edit: The first rom i woul like to try is cm-11-20140117-NIGTHLY-mb526 (this is the KitKat, right?) and if this is not stable enough for me I would install cm-10.2-20131020-NIGHTLY-mb526 (Jelly Bean, right?). The reason I want to change is that I do not think the CM10.1 I have installed is neither stable nor perfomant.
Edit2: I tried the GooManager but it did not work! After reboot into Recovery screen stays black and reboots again.

SBF is the only option. The reason why CM10.1 didn't work as intended is that you must have used full gapps.

Hi,
I think I used the minimal Gapps linked in the thread! And no, sbf is not an option right now as I do not have acces to a Windows based PC where I have rights to install software!
Any other solution how I can restore/install TeamWinRecovery? Should I try 2ndinit?
Thanks anyway and regards kernel
There is a method through ADB explained by @YetAnotherForumUser in CM11 thread by Quarx. This if you can enter in boot menu.

Yes is correct. You must start from sbf when you have access to a computer.
