Hi, I'm been trying to get my HD2 to upgrade from WMB 6.5 to 7 for the past day or so, but I always get stuck in the step where when I use MAGLDR113 the progress bar will jump from 0% to 100% after a few seconds of starting. And then on reboot it will get stuck in the white background loading splash screen with the HTC logo staring back at me.
My red/green/blue screen reads:
PB8100 SS-BC
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8B XC
CotullaHSPL
0x05 <---
0x10 <--- these numbers seems different to what people post out there...
My radio is 2.15.50.14
Been doing this over and over but nothing seems to work.
i supposed that u have successfully install the MAGLDR
Try boot your phone in to MAGLDR menu by
turn the phone off and HOLD the power button until the menu showed up.
have you tried to use HD2 NAND Toolkit? give the link below a try
it could be also that the zip File is corrupted
Do you get any error messages from RUU?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
@thamlim : holding down POWER button doesn't work, still get stuck on HTC white bootscreen
@mengfei : I've re-downloaded the .zip several times, don't think it's corrupted but won't rule it out completely. I will give the NAND toolkit a try tonight.
@hengsheng120 : How can you tell if there were error messages? I am assuming no since there were nothing that looks like error displayed on screen (desktop & phone), and RUU hasn't generated any log files that I can see.
I meant Dft flasher. No USB init failed? Does it give a successful message?

Which one is the Dft flasher? The one for installing HSPL? No error with that one.
@mengfei : going through instructions in the page that you gave me, i'm still getting the same problem. If you search for the sentence "when the phone starts it will show you the magldr bootloader" in that page, that's the place where the phone boots into white background HTC logo (same one after Task29), holding down power button on startup still gives same result.
The window when you are flashing wp7, but nvm that...

Also yes, I just noticed most of this configuration doesn't seem to match an HD2's. you sure that's what it says exactly?
Have you been able to install android roms?
From that info you gave, the SS-BC means that you have different NAND chip made by samsung instead of hynix. It should say HX-BC for most HD2's.

Other people seem also to have this same problem, they can't flash roms on ones that hd2s that have SS-BC in bootloader.

Faulty NAND may be the reason:

Important information concerning Leo flashing algorithm:
Leo is manufactured with 2 different NAND-Flash ROM chipset types. You can detect the type entering tri-color boot mode.
If you see
PB81120 SS-B3 in the first line - that means NAND-Flash ROM from Samsung - KBY00U00VM
If you have
PB1120 HX-B3 in the first line - that means NAND-Flash ROM from Hynix - h8BFS0WU0MCR
After one year usage Samsung chipset usually has a dozen of bad clusters. Hynix normally has none of them or just a couple.
So for devices with SS-B3 and Samsung chipset recommended flashing algorithm is the following:
1. Task29
2. Task32
For devices with HX-B(3/С) and Hynix chipset - Task28 is totally acceptable.
The chipset information is provided by haccker
HD2Owner, I suppose this info should be lifted up to first or second (reserved) post

If your screen really says PB8100 however, which, by google search is weirdly found in mostly chinese forum posts, I suspect your device may also not be supported, but i hope it's a typo.
May be u should try Task29 again , and then try install cLK instead of MAGDLR, and see is that work?

i dont think your model id is exactly ''PB81***'', with the stars.
I suspect in bootloadwer your model id is 'PB81120'
Several people have a tmous with *** as part of their model id, and hspl1024 doesnt work for them,. so this will be a real bonus for them.

i have the nerly same problem.
my HTC HD2 shows "pb81xxx"
the strange thing is that this is since i let it unlock in a mobile store.
bevor the unlocking i normaly flashed it to hspl 2.08 without any problems.
after the unlocking it is now not possible to flash it back.

the bad thing is htat now winmob is rebooting 10 times a day. i still have 20 month warranty but i can not bring it back with the hspl 2.08 on it.
can anyone help?
did you do what it says in post 1?
can't you just flash your stock ROM via sd and remove hspl that way?
thank you both for your ideas.
1.) i thougt his way to flash is just for hspl 1024. but i have hspl 2.08?
you think it could work? and can i flash then back to hspl2.08 later wenn i use android?
2.) good idear. i never flashed from sd card but i sould try it.
but i think maybe if i can flash hspl 2.08 again it could solve my problem. i dont think that is is a hardware defect.
maybe the unlock software is not compatible with the open hspl 2.08.
Hspl 1024 is a version of the .exe, not an actual spl (like 2.08.hspl)
Hspl, hspl2, hspl1024, hspl3, hspl4., they can all (except the original hspl) be used to apply 2.08.hspl (amongst others),, its just the model id that each supports that changes in each release.
It was released to support the tmous hence 1024 for the rom size, and will allow flashing 2.08.hspl
The trick with the txt file let's it bypass the model id and telstra users soon found they could use it where hspl2 wouldn't work.
So, follow post 1 , and you'll soon have 2.08.hspl.
thanks for the important infos.
now i understand.
just one last "may be silly?" question.
my hd2 is the europe version with just 512kb rom/ram.
can i also use the hspl1024? (after your infos i now now that this tread is about the 1024 ram version. thx for that).
OR do you think one of the other hspl3, hspl4 could work with the pb81xxx version?
UPDATE: i tryed now hspl3 and hspl4 and both are working with my pb81xxx hd2
i now reflashed hspl2.08 and look if the anaoing handy rebooting works.
if not i read that i should flash back the original spl1.42 or so and than again hspl2.08. but i cant choose spl 1.42...it starts with spl 2.08.( in the hspl3 and hspl4 software list).
is it not possible to reflash it to spl1.42 with HSPL4?
funny that the mobile store changed the model ID via usb sim-lock-free software.
<deleted>
Edit actually maybe I'm wrong, (I often am!) and maybe hspl4 does only have 2.x and up, I only ever use hspl2, ,
I'm trying to go back to Stock Windows 6.5
I tried downloading the stock rom and extracting the zip to my desktop then copying the nbh file over to my SD card and renamed it to LEOIMG.nbh and booting into Boot Loader Mode but it wont load the NBH file.
Here's the settings from my Boot Loader:
-------------------------------------
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL02.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
SERIAL
Even with the USB connected it still says Serial. I tried installing HTC Sync and the rom I downloaded and extracted is "RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.5 0.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship"
---------------------------------
aMAGLDR v1.11
Build: Dec 31 2010 05:30:51
---------------------------------
What am I doing wrong? I tried searching for HSPL Uninstall but im not even sure what to look for. I'm probably posting in the wrong forum thread but I'm lost for words. Help?
Flash any custom wm6.5 rom thru usb. Turn the phone off, power on going into the tricolored bootloader, and as soon as you see the colors plug the USB cable from the pc, you should hear it connect and it will say USB at the bottom of the bootloader screen, then use the winmo custom ruu to flash windows, once you got windows, you can do the stock rom from sd to lock it down with stock spl, or flash stock rom after the custom rom and use the same program to install hardspl to switch to stock spl.

Does it detect your phone while in android?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Well its obviously a driver issue, it clearly shows you in device manager.
Right click and choose update driver or use windows update or use a program like Driver Genius or Driver Magician etc.
Also try other USB sockets.
Try connecting on android, and once connected, leave the cable in and turn off and go into bootloader and see if that makes it connect.

Thats exactly what I did. Sometimes Windows detects incorrect driver names so when it came up with Qualcomm i didnt know that was the phone's chipset. Updated that driver thru Windows Updates and now im back on Windows Mobile. I was freaking out for a minute.. Thanks Guys!

Just download the HD2 NAND Toolkit and install it on your computer then use it to flash HSPL 2.08 to your HD2. Then I recommend that you flash the stock Windows Mobile ROM for your HD2 via RUU. This should have you set to re install Android or to just use Windows Mobile if you want to.
The real question is what did you do to loose HSPL?
i CLEARLY remember reading a thread about a similar issue. i can't find the thread right now cuz i'm on a slow connection, but to summarize:
1. tri-color screen wouldn't show the second line of information, something like "microtouch p" something something is expected in this line.
2. someone commented that the microtouch line usually shows one of two (or was it three?) possible strings, indicating which particular touch screen model is installed
3. another person commented that the second line of information not showing up in the tri-color screen indicated a loose connection with the screen and/or a faulty screen
4. someone also mentioned that wm6.5 is the only os that is able to boot in this condition on the hd2. android couldn't boot because the hd2 kernels and/or startup sequence in android depends on the screen being responsive to internal electronic commands, in the absence of which the boot up is halted.
the touch screen is not working now
please help

1)Reformat your memory card to a FAT32 file system.
2)Copy the Gingerbread Zip file to your memory card. DO NOT EXTRACT THE FILES!
3)Extract the HD2 Toolkit to your desktop like how I have it in the video. 4)Open The HD2 Toolkit AS ADMINISTRATOR! (For Windows Vista and 7 only)
Flash the Magloader. Turn the phone off and put the phone in bootloader by holding the Volume Down button and the Power button together. In the HD2 toolkit, press the Install Magldr and follow the steps.
5)Flash the Radio. Put the phone in bootloader again and where it says “Install Custom NBH/NB RUU File”, click browse. Browse to the HD2 toolkit folder and you will see a folder called “Radio”. Select the 2.12.50.02.nbh and press Install RUU.
6)After the phone restarts Mag Loader, press the Volume Down button until you get to #5 (USB Flasher) and press the Call button (Green button) and it will be in USB Flasher Mode. It will say Wait for USB…USB.
7)In the HD2 toolkit, select MagLdr repartition and choose the 150MB File size. Leave the Cache size the same (45). Then press Repartition.
8)After it is done, the phone will restart into Magldr. Go to AD Recovery. Go to “Install Zip From SD Card. Then “Choose Zip from SD Card”. Select the ROM and Press Yes. After it is done, press the back button and then press Reboot System.
9)Let the phone load up and enjoy your new Android phone!
