[Guide][Xperia Arc S] Amazing Perfectly Working Stock ICS [Video Uploaded] - Xperia Arc General

*** Please read all steps carefully as i edited a little, to show steps more accurately ***
I take back my words from sony... ICS is awesome and not bad!!
I was on gingerbread 2.3.4 .62 version i reseted my phone using factory data reset, erased sd aswell. Then i Installed fresh .62 my country generic using flash tools. Then skiping setup guide and without signing in google or even activating wi-fi i straight away updated via Sony PC Companion to ICS by selecting mass storage mode .
As it got updated to ICS i powered phone on and completed the setup guide of it.. Then i switched phone off and took out the battery, sd card, and even sim card for few seconds like 20-30 seconds. Then inserted all back in, powered phone on and rooted it and its unbelievably good than the previous time i installed ICS.
Maybe Sony can't say to us that after installing new ICS and completing startup guide steps, then switch off and then take out battery, sim,sd card and insert it again and power on... So please do this once guys, it may surely show You the difference!
If you are already on ICS and facing problems, just do factory data reset and repair your phone via sus or PC Companion after backing up ur data, then after completion turn your phone on complete the setup guide, switch phone off and then take out the battery n stuff, and insert it back, power on and then see it should definately show u improvement!
* Please definately turn on your phone once after you install ics and complete setup guide or skip it and then switch off and take out battery, etc and insert it back then n on it *
I have installed many apps, games, etc and its still very smooth, dialer even opens very fast, 1-2 sec it takes time but as u click it forces itself to show it wants to open as fast as it can on ICS .
The more i installed apps it didn't slowed down!!
Picking up call was very smooth really, no lag/glitch atall .!!
Video plays smooth and perfectly fine .. love the task bar, browser is nice too!
* Note: I did removed junk apps from sys/apps (i did it before and that time i didn't felt any much difference as it lagged, but this time it massively improved by doing this)
Great hardware acceleration... install's apps fast, opens them quickly and smoothly.. love it now!! No wi-fi issues ..
I feel clarity/screen of phone looks gr8,better and smater on ICS
I noticed about the framerate per second (fps) that as i used Quadrant Standard test. Earlier on gingerbread it showed me in somewhere 3d/2d benchmark about 49-52 fps, edit: now on ics it shows maximum 49-50 fps in the test.
Camera is all fine is still smooth i havn't noticed any difference/slowness while recording ..
When moving from one home screen page to another, it rarely but does lags which would be nice if it gets fixed if a new update be provided... Same happens in the in-menu icon pages, and when pressed the menu button it lags rarely and then opens the menu mayb tries to show smoothness but lags instead. I am just on transition animation .5x and windows animation also on .5x (But really these cons can be managed and ignored as they rarely show little lag)
Games not playable, i don't know who to blame but many are not playable, and i know it will be fixed soon so no worries ...
Edit : Temple run got fixed itself with its new update! So its a game makers issue ...
So in the end i am now going to stick to ICS and not going back atall ..
Please press thanks if this method helped
Latest Arc S Quadrant Standard test Result on ICS 4.0.3 :
Video of Ics Performance on My Xperia Arc S : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmEb2gCrTVE&feature=youtu.be
**Please note i was seing my phone via cybershot's screen so wasn't able to click icons accurately sometimes, so its not any response/touch issue or anything with the phone**
I did slow page to page turn so to show i am not skipping or faking it as i believe turning pages fast would be wrong and ignoring its real performance and wouldn't be able to make out or show if its really lagging or not
Its all infront of you, So what do you say or think of it?!
Cheers!!

has any arc (not arc s) user tried this ?
no games huh? that's kinda problematic for me ^^

i guess you're an arc s user. if it works on arc s, then it should also work on arc, right?

Hey people the games problem is not a Sony deal a friend of mine has a Galaxy Nexus with ICS vanilla 4.0.3 and he has the same gaming problems i think this is a ICS problem and i hope that they fix it with 4.0.4 i had problems with asphalt 6 dead space tintin and backstab all games licensed not cracked, also a have to say that modern combat 3 uno and NFS hot pursuit has no problem here they run very good on stock ICS on my arc s

why would it work now
just because y took the sd,sim and battery for a while
it does add up
for a matter of fact GB is so fine with me ive installed the home launcher of the xperia s and its pretty good i think it's better if Sony release a new official version of ICS before thinking of installing it again

Good News

i am using only stock which means official sony android 4.0.3 ics that sony is presently giving, yes i had unlocked my bootloader then i locked it aswell when i had gingerbread, did it for other reasons not for ics
And yes its not sony's fault as the games not being playable...
But awesome!! news... i today at 7.15 am indian standard time, got a new update of temple run after that its running awesomely/flawlessly now,,,, so its modified for ics!!!
So its about time people are starting to make their games playable on sony xperia arc s with ics

i never said games would definately work after taking out battery n stuff, did i?
i clearly mentioned my steps above only to make ics get calibrated well so it works fine as it still is working like a charm since i installed it n posted this thread ...
And weather you be on 4.0.4 or 4.0.3, games need to be updated for our xperia arc s that's the only thing which can make games playable which are not playable presently.
And its justified now that i being on 4.0.3 i just got temple run update and it now is playable like a charm, left right swipe, jump, slide all working perfectly fine !!
Cheers!!

it should but i don't really know as i dont have arc i have arc s . But if u are not getting yet an official update of ics from sony for ur arc, then u better wait as if u get a loose ftf of ics and u flash it via flash tools, it might giv u data error in end which would not erase ur data and might impact badly on performance....
so if u get official update and then do my stuff as posted on 1st post... it should definately show improvement and games as told few are now being playable on ics .... its the games official who are now making games playable on our xperia arc s
i strongly believe even if a game is playable on a different phone for like a fake example say on samsung nexus with 4.0.3 and not on arc s with 4.0.3... then the games are strongly modified for seperate phones to be playable individually.
which means if u see game develepors also sometimes link phones that this game is playable on these n these phones, so i believe its alot of hard work that they do n develop that one game be playable for all the phones they mention or for totally all android phones in the world like angry birds.. so they do different scripting for each different phone models and modify scripting for all phones they build that game for, all over again when a different firmware/update comes for that particular phone .

I install .42 to get root on my Arc S, then update from OTA to .62 and when i connect to PC the PCC pop up with ICS Generic.
Im from Portugal and my carrie doesn't provide any official ICS update.
The only problems i see so far (i only install yesterday) is the Go Locker that has the data text out of the screen and i see a lot of battery drain.
Do you think this will help this issues?
Thanks

This is a problem from the app not from the ICS
Anyway i made what you did, i wiped and reset all, repair the phone from PCC, then complete the sing in, restar phone, take SIM, SD and battery and wait, turn on the phone and root it and seams much more fluid and fast but i will give a feedback after try for few days.
The only problem is that i can´t charge the phone when is turned off. This happens with anyone else?
I turn off the phone, i connect the cable with charger to a wall socket and the SONY logo appear but then after a while the logo disappear and reappear again and keep doing this all time and never charge.
I have the phone ROOTED with CWM app recovery, USB Debbugin turn on this is normal!?

i never faced that charging problem when phone being switched off or anything yet, mayb due to cwm or i dont know... but the easiest way to root ics is with Root Exploit OneClick . i uploaded the file for you here : http://www.4shared.com/zip/kx8Ezp1G/Root_Exploit_OneClick.html
Just you have to be in debuggin mode and check the unknown sources ... attach the phone to pc, run the 'run me' batch file. Phone will restart few 2-3 times and all will be sucessfull with root
also i have not installed cwm on ics yet and don't want to as for now ..... and few or many apps are not compatible for ics as they are not updated for ics by the developers, so its not ics's fault .
if u don't mind and if u havn't transfered ur data back in, just do it all again hardly would take 10-15 mins..... reset and repair via Sony PC Companion(when i repair, it updates instantly as it detects already downloaded update files from somewhere in pc) and then take out battery stuff, insert all back then power it on and then root with oneclick, then check the same...
And also remove junk apps if you want, the junk apps i removed from ics are:
AntHalService.apk
antradioservice.apk
antstatenotifer.apk
AppEnabler.apk
chinesetextinput.apk
com.qoowaa.act.apk
datatrafficswitch.apk
JapaneseIME.apk
letsgolf_ay.apk
officesuite.apk
PicoTts.apk
POBoxSknPink.apk
POBoxSknWood.apk
Protips.apk
SemcEmail.apk
SEMCSetupWizard.apk
Stk.apk
Talk.apk
Talkback.apk
trackid.apk (removed the old one n installed the new one from market to sd)
widgetanalogclock.apk
widgetdigitalclock.apk
widgetworldclock.apk
and also deleted apps from system/etc/product/applications(it will have the mcafee n 2-3 more etc apps)
if you want to remove junk apps from system, just move them to sd (i use root explorer in rw mode) in a folder named like "ics junk apps" restart your phone so apps get removed properly, then update the remaining sys apps via wi-fi or however
if you want any of the sys apps back later in system, just correct the permissions rw,r,r then move them to system in rw mode .
only telling you all this.. so u get the best out of it!
Cheers!!

well i have backed up my things on pc... so i just copy paste it. And my contacts, messages n logs i back them up using sms backup app, but nevermind .... well my suggestion is u can install cwm for your back-up, but try to root it my way .. mayb ur shutdown and then be able to charge phone problem gets solved as simple as that
i dont use cwm as back up because i think if it backs up everything which was there before then that is logically wrong, like files that automatically gets created by phone like android data, something like those they might get overwritten on new updated files of ics which might go wrong... like being on fresh updated ics then backin up/recovering ur data, and the ics created files in sd or system being overwritten by backed up gingerbread files/apps w.e using cwm or i dont know, even its my myth i strive for perfection that "To make it new, have everything new"....
if i have updated my phone so i would let only the fresh files be there that is created by phone and then installing back my apps..... i have my back-up apps in root uninstaller, so i just install them back(i copy/paste root uninstaller folder filled with my apps from pc to phone)
then copy/pasting the videos, music n images from pc to phone and i am done ..... i don't mind if it takes longer .

Problem solve!!! Was a fix that need to be done in CWM

How about the video quality? When my arc s upgraded to 4.0.3 it had very laggy video recording - compare to former GB.
Is there any news that sony will repair this ics upgrade?

SGS problem...

Hello anybody,
Sorry if my question is the same as the previous post...
I have my SGS from August and already updated to official Froyo which I have a few problems as below:-
1 - The contact listing of alphabet list missing character such as H, N and etc.
2 - I tried to copy back my backup contacts from my PC using Kies, but when it connected to kies, the contacts in my phone did not display. When I tried to transfer contacts from my pc to the SGS, it seems that it cannot communicate with the device. But, I can see and access all folder for my SGS from my PC.
3 - My SGS become a bit lagging when I updated to Froyo. In Eclair, my phone is much faster than in my Froyo now.
This is my 2 problem that I need help with. Any comment or suggestion?
My SGS is sim free from Three (3) and is in official Froyo. Never root my SGS...

Ok here we go
1. Missing letters is a bug in froyo
2. I had same problem. Think its a problem with kies. Best is to save all your contacts in Google then sync your contacts. That way if you ever lose your phone your contacts are always on google ready to sync again.
3. Try a few reboots to let froyo settle in. If that doesn't help go for the one click lag fix in the market.
Hope this helps clear a few things up.
Thanks for the comment and opinion...
Really appreciated...
Any other comment or opinion regarding the problems...
hi there
1st - i have just solved this annoying problem of contacts alphabets, the answer is here in the forum, i have attached the file and you have enter the recovery mode and apply this, i suppose that you know how to do it. after that the contacts problem will be solved.
2nd - to connect to samsung kies successfully you have to unroot the device, disable any lagfixes and make TouchWiz launcher is your default launcher, after that samsung kies will detect your phone.
3d - to feel that your phone is fast you have 2 options, either download and install OCLF from market or do the voodoo lagfix, or install a custom ROM which is better in my opinion and faster than the official.
that's it buddy i have answered all your questions if you need something just pm me
Hello ghallab and others,
This SGS phone never been rooted... It is still pure as I got it...
Any one lag fix application that you or other recommend in the market?
For the contacts fix, I am not really sure how to do it. Could you explain details for fixing this?
Thank you to all that have give the opinion and comment.
Others opinion still welcome...
rename the file update.zip and copy it to your phone's memory and shutdown your galaxy
press UP+HOME+POWER to boot in recovery mode
navigate up and down using the volume keys to apply update.zip and select it using the power button , it should be successfully completed, restart your phone and your problem should be solved
if you are using any home replacement app like Launcher pro or Adw launcher you have to clear the defaults and make the twlauncher is your default, to make Samsung kies recognize your phone
Hello again,
My phone is totally original and I not used any of the pro launcher or any other based application. I am originally using twlauncher (Samsung one).
My phone is recognized by Kies, I can check the firmware update. But, not yet try to used the my computer or to transfer any data from PC to phone.
How can I restore to phone memory? Is it inside the internal sd memory?
Thank you again for all the help.

Dead or alive...?? 8-D

Hi!
After playing w/Floyo 2.2.1 and sd mounting(which does not work properly to me)
ive notice root explorer indicates no root access. Ive installed busybox installer and fetched 1.18 after which...:
-no xrecovery access at boot
-locked home screen but trying to unlock it says: Launcher...unexpectedly stopped etc etc..., DSP manager etc etc - neverending loop.
Any chance to bring the brick back to life ??
Please help !
i had this problem as well when i first started.
download PC Companion , click Support Zone, Software Update, Repair phone and follow the instructions.
it will delete all your data(of cos not sd card) and bring it back to android 2.1 default hope this helps.
Yes, I would..but PC Companion or Update Service/Engine state they cannot fetch any software (due to internet access problem), ive turned off router and windows 7 firewall and still nothing..

it has to be a version of busybox.
when install xrecovery, there is one u should always keep.
maybe when trying JiT, it need a new busybox,
but after that, put back xrecovery-busybox to system/bin.
it should work. (got same problem twice btw)
I have only one solution for you: reflash.. works always XDD
If you cant use the SE update service or PcCompanion, use flashtool from b1nary.. flash it any firmware, at least one that you could install xrecovery to restore or search for updates on SEUS..

Thanks guys!
Reflashed succesfuly w/russian ftf and now i am back in 2. 2. 1, btw dont know why it shows ver. 0. 11 instead 0. 12. Sd mounting either not workin for sure or reboots. Eg. Sd ready to be removed and reboot. Anybody succeeded to run app2sd on racht's 0.12?

[JB] Slimbean for Xperia play Guide (Thanks to; cj360, cosmic dan and lupus)

First of all i would like to say a massive thanks to:
- Cj360 for the epic Jelly bean Rom
- Cosmicdan for his awesome kernel
- Lupus as well for his awesome kernel
- And everyone else who made this Rom possible, I thank all of you !!
So now with the intro, I'm new to the forum and i shall be testing different Rom's and kernels and giving feedback mainly on the Xperia play R800i and the Xperia x10 mini pro U20i, recently I've been trying a lot of different Rom's and i stumbled acrossed this JB slim Rom (For the Xperia play) and i was extremely impressed with its performance. The interface is simply stunning, blazing fast and built firmly compared to other ICS and JB Rom's.
Here are some of the specs i gathered from my phone's settings
- Operating system, 4.1.2 Android Jellybean
- Model Number, R800i
- Slim version, Slim-3.1.0-20130202-2346-UNOFFICIAL
- GSM ( Note GSM Version is for UK only)
- Kernel Version
2.6.32.9-Turbo_v3.1 [email protected], #66
- Rooted (Built within the kernel, Both Cosmicdans and Lupus)
[ I have attached some screen shots of this Rom ]
If you have an Xperia play i would highly suggest trying this out, as it is one of the best I've seen on xda:
Here is the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
Installation Guide [For people who do not know how to install anything]
DISCLAIMERS
Before you start anything, I'm not responsible for any: Bricked devices, dead SD cards, boot-loops, etc (You know the drill). You do this of your own free will
Ok with all the serious chat aside lets begin. Firstly you will need the following:
- Unlocked boot-loader -----> Follow this guide from Sony:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
- Flash tool -------> Get that from here:
http://androxyde.github.com/
- The Slim-bean Rom -----> Download slim-bean in Second post, pick GSM or CDMA depending on where you are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
Below are two links i found showing all countries that use GSM and CDMA, hope it helps ! (If your still confused do a little bit of research !)
GSM -----> http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
CDMA -----> http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp - The kernel -----> Get either Lupus or CosmicDans turbo kernel (There both epic!)
Lupus kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861970
Turbo Kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817548
- AND A VERY IMPORTANT THING YOU MUST HAVE IS ..... patience's
Ok if you have everything lets start the guide (Note: Make sure everything is done on windows 7, as its easier than older versions of windows)
1. Before we do anything make sure that you have a unlock boot-loader and you have a downloaded the following files:
- The Rom itself ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
- The Google apps -----> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
- The Kernal -----> I did Turbo Kernal http://www.mediafire.com/?ncgvp2qcuns9m (NOTE: PICK ZEUS as that is the code name for Xperia play)
- Flash tool -----> http://androxyde.github.com/
- Fast boot Package -----> http://db.tt/B5vG1ynM
- R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf ------> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3UZttldr317Zm4xRnQ2WkRFbHM/edit?pli=1
2. Preparing your phone, make sure that you usb debug mode on and file transfer to MSC and allow unknown applications. Next you must connect your phone to your computer or laptop via usb, and open up flashtool and remember to install the drivers, they are located in C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the xperia play driver, fastboot driver and flash mode drivers. (MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL YOUR FILES IF YOU HAVE TO)
3. Go into flash-tool and select flash (Its a lightning sign) and then press flash and open up the directory where you downloaded the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf and flash it. Wait a few secs or minutes depending on your computer/ laptops speed, then a dialog will open telling you to shutdown your phone so shutdown and wait until its completely off. Now connect the end cable to your Xperia play and hold the back button and connect your USB into the computer and wait for it to flash. This can take some time and you must keep hold of the back button until its completed. After completion it will ask for you to unplug the USB and turn on your phone so do so, then it will launch up the Sony sign and it will pretty much look like the original firmware you had before. Now moving on, once booted up you must skip all settings and wait for the phone to fully load once the set up is done go back to setting and make sure again that USB debug mode is on, unknown sources is enabled and it is in MSC mode. (Note for CDMA R800x users you don not need to flash the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf )
4. Now connect the usb to the computer/laptop and place the Rom and Gapps onto your sdcard (Make a folder called Custom Rom). and then disconnect the usb after thats done.
5. Now this is were it can get complicated, so please pay attention. You must now shutdown the phone and disconnect it from the computer. Extract the fast boot package (Note: i would recommend to do this all on windows 7) and place it on desktop. Now drop the kernal you downloaded into the same folder (In this case i picked Turbo kernal, so i place it in the same folder). And holding the SHIFT KEY + RIGHT CLICK will open up a little menu (like when you right click anyway) and so you click on open command prompt here (CMD). ok now you type in the following code (In this case the turbo kernal) :
Fastboot flash boot boot_zeus_turbo-v3.1.img
Now it will say waiting for device so you now have to have you xperia play of and hold the search button and plug your usb back in then it will start transferring the kernel onto your xperia play, wait until it has finished and then disconnect your phone and boot it up.
6. You should see the sony sign and the Turbo sign underneath at this point you have to keep press the volume down button -
and then you will enter into a screen where it shows slot 1, 2, 3 and 4. So press slot 1 and then it should say: Boot, TWRP recovery, change slot and Tweaks and mods. So press recovery and then you will come to a screen with different options. First you need wipe data so goto wipe and do a factory reset and then go back and wipe dalvik cache and go back again and wipe cache.
7. Now you must go back and press install and it will show you, your sd card so now you must go to the folder that you name 'Custom rom', like i said before and now install the slim rom, it will ask you to swipe to install so do so and then restart your phone !!. (WARNING DO NOT INSTALL GAPPS STRAIGHT AFTER INSTALLATION OF ROM, INSTALL ROM AND THEN REBOOT AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE FLASHING GAPPS).
8. So now you have rebooted your phone, you should see after the sony sign, the world 'Slim bean' flashing. Wait a bit for it to boot up and then fill out the basic installation form.
9: restart the phone and install Gapps through recovery but do NOT WIPE DALVIK CACHE OR CLEAR CACHE OR FACTORY RESET, just install the gapp zip the same way you installed the rom in 'Custom Rom' folder and then restart.
10. you should have google apps now but the screen might look very small at first and so to fix this press: Menu button> System settings> Interface> Genral UI > LCD density and follow the steps. (This fixes issues with the screen and allows you to use apps like Facebook)
11. The final step of course is to enjoy your new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Rom and Remember to thank everyone who made this Rom possible!!
So all in all i would highly recommend this, if you currently hold a Xperia play and your fed up with gingerbread then try this out, you won't be disappointed !!
Did i miss anything, if so reply back and i'll do my best to answer your question.

Re: [JB] Slimbean for Xperia play Review (Thanks to; cj360, cosmic dan and lupus)
This is a rather good guide. You might want to change the title. By saying "review" it could give the impression that you were just giving your opinions on the ROM. I used this guide to put slimbean on my Play and i found it easy to follow and understand. However, transferring my apps and data is such a pain:banghead:. I bought TB Pro as well but it tends to hang which leads to frustration as i have to go through the process of which apps i want restored and which ones i don't again and again. It's quite tedious and slow. Anyone know how to make it work "properly" or an alternative?

I look forward to make more installation guides for people in the xda community and i agree i think i should change the title from 'Review' to 'Installation' (My bad sorry ). This is my first installation guide and i'm very happy that you were able to use it and install the slim Rom, as for the apps i think if you have a Google account anyway you should be able to backup your apps from your previous firmware e.g. Gingerbread. I think if you go to Play store then press menu and go to 'My apps' you should be able to see apps installed and previous apps installed if you swipe to the right (However you have to install them individually). I know how you feel though I've been trying different Roms and every time i find myself re-installing and backing up a lot of data, but for now i'm not sure if there is fix or an alternative for TB pro. But i would suggest backing them up manually for now via play store, until there is a way to do it all at once. But nevertheless I will try my best to give installation for all different roms (Hopefully for all phones), making it simpler and helpful for people to understand. Currently i'm studying in college but when i have time i will post different Rom installation guide, but for now thank you.

Good guide, noob friendly. I was just about to whine but I haven't found anything useless here although just edit the first post with flashing kernel via flash tool as it's much quicker and easier for everybody.
And it's called kernEl not kernal

Well don't get me wrong but all you actually have to change are just few lines in the thread and the title of the thread... Seriously, it's good that you've created such guide but come on, creating like 10-20 threads for different roms which doesn't actually differ much in the installation process? Come on, it's just bad...

I like Appextractor from AppsbyAndy. It lets you extract your apps from a nandroid backup. It's not perfect, sometimes apps are missing, but I like it WAY better than TIBU. The only thing I use TiBu for anymore is removing system apps I don't want.

GSM -----> http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
- The Rom itself ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
- The Google apps -----> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
- The Kernal -----> I did Turbo Kernal http://www.mediafire.com/?ncgvp2qcuns9m (NOTE: PICK ZEUS as that is the code name for Xperia play)
- Flash tool -----> http://androxyde.github.com/
- Fast boot Package -----> http://db.tt/B5vG1ynM
- R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf ------> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3UZttldr317Zm4xRnQ2WkRFbHM/edit?pli=1

I loved the performance of the rom. True jb feel with amazing customization tweets. Checked high end game FIFA12. Works great.
But the rom ultimately is useless for me until you come up with a gamepad and touch pad fix.
WE HAVE XPERIA PLAY. But without the gamepad working; gives such an ordinary feel. sorry.
PLEASE REPLY.

[Q] Can't update or load android from SD and other issues with CM9 4.0.4 ICS

Hi!
My HTC HD Mini was left and unused for few months after replacing touch-glass.
There were some issues like ie. not working wifi, vibra or sound.
Today it works. BUT. I left device becose i had SE Xperia X10 mini and i hate work on windows.
Nowadays, as my X10 died, i decided to go back to HD Mini. Luckily i found that there is a way to run Android on it.
So, i downloaded some quite old version (and then some newer CM7 - tried both), put it on sd and tried to load. It hang up for more than 20 min, so i rebooted (as it schould 5-10 min).
Now it reboots after status bar goes to 100% - so it takes about 20-30 seconds.
I got an idea to upgrade my winos (OS: 5.2.23103, ROM: 1.36.479.1), but when it goes to flash mode, it says 'starting', waiting for few seconds, and then "i can not upgrade your device" or whatever. Device only reboots.
Ofcourse i've searched forum and google for something simillar, but, maybe, i do not know how to ask.
Sorry for my english.
Thanks in advance,
Gloomwing
about SDCard, it could be problem of your sdcard is bad, bad sdcards won't work well with android.
and the NAND, Not sure about that, but you may try another ways or use the newest CWM that also works with schlund's ROM
Yup, I'll try with another SD (i have 2GB one which cames with X10) and will give info.
About NAND i prefer to run droid from SD at the moment - just do not want to risk installing OS that may not work on my device.
It works with ADATA 16GB, 10.
Did not try with windows update. Just installed Droid on NAND.
(furter issues in main topic of "[ROM] CM9 4.0.4 ICS HTC HD Mini [16.Jul.2012]"
Thanks and regards!
glad to see you so it was SDcard problem..
have fun..
Ok, i can not drop any post on main topic, so i will write here:
I read main topic, but it will last...
1. YES!, we need instruction (easy howto) about installing new ROM (i made it somehow, but i have some experience with X10)
2. Battery is messed up, but it works. It even last more than a day. Had some issue with 99% CPU usage - found some info to flash update - AGAIN! - we need howto!
3. My Photon freezes sometimes. I changed sleep time in screen section, and it helpes somehow. Maybe, again, battery issue? As i have less problems while battery over 50% or Trebuchet?
Many thanks and best regards!
(can anyone drop it in main topic?)
Let me know which one you're trying to install??

How to make archos internet tablet 101 gen8 faster

I recently got this tablet from my uncle who was gonna throw it out and i said i could try to tweak it .After few days i did the best and made it awesome and cooler than before here i will give the instruction how to make it faster ...
Step 1:
http://www.archos.com/va/support/support_tech/updates_dev.html
from the link you have to download the firmware for your archos device.
you could install it simply by copying it to your device and running it.
step 2:
install a custom rom i choose urukdroid but there are lots of other like cm7 etc
https://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/
above is the link for urukdroid in the website you could follow the steps to install it
step 3:
from here i will explain only for urukdroid as i have not tried other roms
so for archos 101 it gen8 only
if you don't want to install it in SD card then just set it up internally in advanced option it can also be found in the same website
https://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/Installation
step 4:
after installing the rom you must download arctools(i have attached it) connect it to wifi and install the google market after this
cos without the market what they have given sucks...!!
step 5;
download apps like clean master to remove usless preinstalled apps
download Greenify to bloack unused apps this makes the device fast and saves battery (awesome app)
overclock the device from 1 to 1.1 ghz - https://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/UrukService_cpugovernor
swap ram memory - https://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/UrukService_compcache
use launchers which you like it makes the device faster but with over customization it makes the device slower
If you into gaming Chainfire3D could be used to play the games little faster -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
if you follow all the 5 steps your device is completely customized and faster than before
please follow the instruction carefully or else you might brick your device and i am not responsible for it.
For any queries PM me.
And if you find any better ways reply to this post about it.
Wow
Just about to bin mine if it didnt work my mede8ter app ( which thought would be only reason for keeping) but didnt so its in bin next to my desk then just by chance seen this...well done for sifting through sites trying to find info and links I gave up long time ago...thank you for this will tell you how I get on...:good:
Mmmmm cannot run market...force close..
THANK YOU!
Bought the tablet used for $25, but it was bricked. got it running on a normal stock ROM but i couldnt get the play store on it. Found this just a few minutes ago and tried it. Got it all working now, (with URUK) glad i found it made me happy. Now i can give the tablet to my mom for her mother's day present!
You are welcome I'm glad my tut has helped you.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
Sorry for the really late reply , sometime the market app may force close continuously
you can try reinstalling it and if it doesn't clear the problem then do a complete reset and follow the procedure from first.
Boot issues
I've rebooted into og os, then was not able to get the boot menu, even though I was holding down the volume down button. Solution: 1. Power off device. 2. Remove sd card 3. Boot into Boot menu. 4. Insert sd card. 5. Boot into developer edition. :good: :good: :good:
