I downloaded and installed VLC-armv6-20120511.apk on my P509 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670662&highlight=vlc
The music and video player works perfectly.
I am using CM7.2.0 RC2 ROM. The CM mod settings required for HD Video to Play perfect.
CyanogenModSettings>Performance>CPU settings>min 320 max 748 gov performance
CyanogenModSettings>Performance>VM heap size> 32m
first I increased vm heap size to 32m this reduced video lag, then increased speed cpu speed and lag disappeared.
I have been waiting for this for a while
video scan file slowly
lag not smooth fc

Hello, I'm new @ xda-developers and got my touch hd last week.
While playing around with different video-encoding-settings to get optimal results I found the "HTC Touch HD Video Converter" in this forum.
I used it (v. 1.18) to encode a video from a 1080p source file.
I chose "HD input" and maximum resolution "WVGA 800x480".
My "problem" now as follows:
Using CorePlayer 1.30 results in heavy-stuttering video-playback whereas the HTC Album plays it very smooth, even in fast-motion scenes.
I already played around with some settings in the CorePlayer preferences menu but I can't make the video run as smooth as it runs in HTC album.
The "tnyynt SD TuneUP.cab" is already installed by the way.
I want to make CorePlayer work as intended Does anybody have an idea what I could do in order to solve this video-playback-stuttering?
Thank you for possible answers
This is already known. WMP (or HTC album) have some hardware acceleration, whereas CorePlayer doesn't provide this yet. Future releases of CorePlayer are supposed to have the hardware acceleration as well.
Okay, thanks a lot
Reduce buffer size
i've solve this problem via reducing buffer size:
Menu --> Tools -->Preferences --> Select Page -->Buffering
my new settings are:
~ Normal Buffer size 1184 KB
~ Preload at underrun 70.0 %
~ Preload for audio 0 KB
but this aajustment is for an internet radio, let me know if it has helped to solve your problem please!
Is there still no hardware support in CorePlayer ?
It seems that Now 1.48 rom become slower in program execution than 1.43.
Can you advice me some cpu frequency monitoring softtware ?
i have made a tcpmp benchmark with the a sample video. with 1.43 i had 196% playback performance and now with the untouched 1.48 rom its only 93% with same settings and video.
But after i installed the Chainfire Video driver, I get a performance up to 223%.It seems that HTC had lowers the performance, maybe for a longer battery life.
are CF's video driver the same as his d3d/ogl driver? will installing the driver decrease the battery life?

What video output mode set in tcpmp [ DirectDraw, GDI, RawFrameBuffer ] ?
my guess is they lowered the cpu speed to increase batterylife as someone else also said above.
If you think about it, why use 1ghz to play at 200% when you may be able to use 500mhz for twice as long and while you will deliver 100%, the visual differnece will be virtually nothing
Above paragraph is hyperthetical by way!

GDI or RawFrameBuffer (a little bit faster than GDI)

but this benchmark should show the maximum Performance. I notice that some other apps, like opera rendering webpages, also runs slower.
In TCPMP, if you go to Options--->Settings, the General page shows clock speed. I'm not sure how accurate it is but on my Kaiser it is within 50mhz of the actual clock speed (400Mhz).
CPU and tcpmp

It would be really nice being able to control che CPU clock. After a restart TCPMP says 1 Ghz and it is fast. After a while it goes down to 500 Mhz and TCPMP start to stutter a bit.
When I play avi(maybe other formats too) movies in Stock Video Player or Vital Player in "hardware mode" videos stutter every minute or so.At first I thought that it might be just one movie but I tried few different vids and they all do that.
Anyone else have this problem?Im on latest Bonsai Ext4 rom.Maybe I removed some apk's needed for smooth playback or changed SetCPU settings but I dont think my Epic did that before.
I usualy wouldnt complain but in Vital Player's "software mode" colors look way too bland-like watching vids on lcd, huge difference, lol.
Is this just Bonsai rom bug or what?
UPDATE SOLVED:I set my SetCPU to "performance" mode instead of "conservative" and no more stuttering!Lol,my phone seems to run way smoother now,all these months with my Epic and I dint know what great effect one simple setting can have.
UPDATE 2:Apparently videos only stutter when im downloading files while playing videos,i should have known that.Oh well,no downloading movies while watching movies.
I wonder why playng movies in "Software Mode" on Vital Player dont have that problem, downloading while playing doesnt cause sturrering.

AVI is a container.not a format..common formats used with AVI is xvid and divx...which is it and what version?
Also have you tried the stock media player?
I so far played almost every format imaginable with no issues..but I am on stock..

It was on Xvid and Divx on stock media player.I fixed it by setting SetCPU to "Performance" mode, now no more stuttering and everything is so much smoother!
Dint know that SetCPU modes have greater impact on performance than setting cpu frequencies.
Update:Stuttering occurs only when downloading files while playin videos. If played in "Software mode" stuttering doesnt occur period.

Performance Governor = Max CPU Speed (1GHz in our case).
When using hardware acceleration, the CPU utilization is likely to be less than software mode which results in lower CPU speed in hardware mode than when using software mode. What is likely occuring is in software mode, the CPU is running at a speed fast enough to process the downloaded files and video simultaneously, whereas in hardware mode, the CPU speed is a bit too low to handle both downloading and video which leads to stuttering... and the CPU load isn't high enough to ramp the CPU speed up to the next level.
Hi
I'm new to this and wanted to ask do you know any videoplayer to use on taboonay 2.2 + an 3.7 kernel. Because I use mx player for now and it's great but every movie I play in HW just lags. And in SW works great. Anyone have this issues also?

No problems with MX on my ROM, depends on the video, and how it's encoded though. Most will play on HW encode on mine, but every once in awhile I'll d/l one that forces through SW, but still plays fine, no lag.
I use Taboonay 2.2 and Richardtrip 3.7 and MX Video Player is by far my faviourite video player. I OC to 1.5 GHZ with the interactive governor. MX plays 90% of my files without flaw or lag, playing 100% of SD files or Baseline - profile MP4's (720p, havent tried 1080p). It does however, force the use of software when decoding 720p MKV Files, forcing me to convert them to Baseline or High profile MP4's. When playing those MKV files, there is severe lag and HW Decoding is grayed out. However, using Dice Player, i have managed to play some of those 720p MKV's, but the other features of MX are simply too wonderful for me to make the switch. However, after the damage of my USB port and the inability to use my 16 GB flash drive, i found myself streaming videos from my home computer using Plex, which is hell to set up but is very rewarding! It is remarkable although i still use MX Video Player for when I'm not at home to play files stored locally. Try OC'ing to 1.5 GHZ ONLY if you feel comfortable doing so. Otherwise, check out Dice Player, it has a free 3-day trial app!
Well it does not lag but feels not quite smooth. But on SW it's totally smooth. And those are xvid files:
Video: Xvid 624x352 23.98fps 1012kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 152kbps [Audio 1]
Hi.
I'm having issues with video recording.
This folder contains 3 video files showing my problem.
h t t p s://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_lMdWi3lpVOeGJ4Q1U4Ymc3blk&usp=sharing
They were recorded in the three different video modes video with Google Camera.
Right clicking and checking properties shows the files playing in 29.97, 7.45 and 3.72 frames per second.
I would expect the file to playback at 29.97 on my computer. Speeding these files up to the framerate they're supposed to be recorded at does not give me realtime footage.
I have previously recorded in 240 fps mode and the results were quite good. That file played back at 29.97 fps when transfered to my computer and I could edit it as expected.
Speeding up 8x gave me realtime video.
Any ideas on whats wrong? I've cleared data for Google Camera but it didn't help.
