Hbogo & maxgo - Acer Iconia A500

HBO is available for ICS, just not ICS tablets.
I am assuming this workaround works on all ICS tablets
Install the apk from here
When it installs and you launch it you will get an error "it is not supported on this device".
You can access it one of 2 ways.
1)Press the home button (NOT EXITING IT) open a different app. Hit the multitask button, from here you can swipe to close it or just jump back into HBO GO.
2)Open the HBO app, get the error. Press the multitask button. Go to any other app. While in another app, multitask back to the HBO app. Wait a few seconds and error should clear.
Once you see the error go away a login box come up. While the ui is not optimized for tablets, the videos still play.
If you have logged in before the error will still come up. You will have to do this work around everytime you launch the app. However you won't have to login again.
NOTE: MAX GO works with the same work around as the HBO app.

Thanks
Worked for me on my a501 same process

Thanks for the link, hopefully it will work on mine.

Works for me as well.

Worked for me on my a500 rooted!!!

Worked for me too, stock ICS with root...

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Can't get it to work on my a500 running flexstriker rf1-v3 and 0.03.14 ics boot loader???

Thanks starkiller for putting this on the A500 Forum. Works perfectly on my A500 running Icylicious Rom.

Thanks this works for my a500

Can someone with a MAX GO acct check if the MAX GO app works on our tablets running ICS? I won't be getting it until the end of the week or next week but just wanna check it out.

Not working for me

@starkiller86..... I responded previously about your HBO fix stating that it was working well, still is
Now more than happy to say just installed your MAX GO fix and it also works flawlessly..... videos stream perfectly, congratulations and many thanks
Using "Icylicious" ICS Rom.

Thanks metpolds. I forgot to update the post that I tried the maxgo app and it did work with the same method as the hbogo app.

HBO Go, Finally.
HBO Go is available on play Store for the Iconia A500. Just watched an episode of Band of Brothers.

I am getting a purchase error from the Store. Will try the files tonight to see if I can see if they work. I am running Flex-Relixx and IC Loader.
Bill...

The play store offers HBO GO already for out tabs running 4.0. No need to use the one on here. However MAX GO is still not available feel free to get that one if you need it.

[Q] MLB Atbat Live Streaming in CM7

I'm running CM7 beta for Atrix. I have the MLB Atbat app. I can't get live streaming working in the app or in a browser.
I've tried the fix listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201274
But live streaming still isn't working. The option is available, it starts to connect, and then video will freeze on the first frame while audio continues fine. Sometimes the video will just freeze on a jumble of colors. It's the same if I try to stream from the website in Browser or Dolphin HD.
What to do?
Ill check this out tomorrow too
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
this happens to me too. the fix linked is only for at-bat that doesn't recognize the device and doesn't give the video option.
i believe it it linked to flash, but i'm not sure. i could never get it working on 2.3.4 (AT&T) properly unless i uninstalled flash, tried a video and it prompted me to DL it from the market. once i used that link, i would pop back into at-bat and it would work. that method worked for a while and then stopped working.
i've tried it on CM7 and nothing. i've tried 5 different versions ranging from 10.2-10.3xx and no dice, first frame freezes. i really don't know what it is.
sorry i couldn't help, but just letting you know you're not alone.
I had the streaming working fine in gingerbread both in the app and dolphin hd. I was using Ken alien 4.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
i never got at bat to work on stock froyo or stock gingerbread.. on the android market doesnt say video can play on atrix
if any one got it to work any advise... so i dont think is your ROM you installed
PS... i havent tried the latest version of at bat maybe they fixed it

Hulu on Kindle Fire

I wanted Hulu on my kindle fire without paying for hulu plus so I found a hacked apk from the xoom and thought I would share the wealth. This apk makes it so that while browsing your Kindle looks like a windows computer and will allow access to flash apps that normally are only available to a PC. Works like a charm! Hulu looks really good and no sync issues. I haven't tried youtube yet, but I assume it works the same. I searched hacked flash apk in google and clicked a link to the xoom forums. I loaded the apk on my kindle and installed it.
link? i don't have issues with youtube, just hulu.
nvm, hulu works with dolphin browser, just flash didn't work with the firefox browser.
How did you get Hulu and Dolphin browser to work? I have a rooted device, installed Dolphin Browser form android market. Still didn't work.

When you set up dolphin browser for the first time it gives you an option to run your browser as android, load, mobile, or desktop. Select desktop and you should be good to go. You can also change this from the settings menu in dolphin after you installed it. I would post slink but since I'm new to xda I can't post links until I have 10 posts. I'm close now...haha. ill post a link as soon as I can. Sorry.
Well, Kindle Fire play Youtube videos fine, I have had no problem especially if you side load the youtube app, though I also got a free YouTube download from aneesoft to download videos, but to be frankly, the kindle play great and no need to do other works.
Hmm, Im curious how did you to watch Hulu plus smoothly on it??
tipzilla-
1st- If you reply to this it will be your 10th message
2nd- I did select desktop but it still would not play.

Well, Hulu page loaded fine for me but I didn't try to play a video until now and I get the "platform not supported" when I try to play a video, so I guess it doesn't work after all.
On CM9 I can get the desktop version to load in chrome without android warning, but the video doesn't play. I installed flash, so thats not the problem. Wonder if its the hardware excel thats causing probs.
YouTube website works fine...
i just went to Hulu web site and KF is listed under supported devices..
I love these posts from new members that claim some app or site works on this device or that device, yet they don't post the link. Then they disappear from the thread.
I'm going to go start a new thread now, about how I found a hacked Netflix app that lets you watch anything without paying. Just don't hold your breath for a link.
It's the licensing
The way I understand it Hulu has license conflicts with some shows that preclude streaming them to a mobile device be it through their app or to an android or IOS based browser.
Those shows appear as "web only" in the Hulu+ favorites listing in the app.
True. Even on a ROKU, we get that message. The work around we use is Playon on our desktop computer. Hulu is accessed by the PC, so everything plays, then Playon shows up on the ROKU and streams Hulu (the regular free version of Hulu).
There is also a Playon app for Android, so you can watch Hulu on the Fire or any Android device. But no direct access to Hulu from KF afaik.

After the 14 day free trial, how much will it cost to run it?

Ok, this I don't think will work on cm9, it may you'll have to try and report if it does. They were having an issue with flash in browser. So on miui, cm7, or maybe even rooted stock kindle. Here is the link
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/motorola-xoom-development/9658-flash-latest-hulu-hacked-flash.html
1. Uninstall your current flash
2. Reboot
3. go to the link and in the first post and download the hulified v. 11.1... apk and install it.
4. Get dolphin browser and you should be good to go.
I forgot the issue about uninstalling and then doing a fresh install. There may also arise the issue of the flash apk being a system app, in that case you will need to use titanium backup to remove it before rebooting and installing the hacked apk.
Good luck guys!

PlayOn is $5 a month, but if you pay a full year in advance ($40), it works out to something like $3.30 a month. Cheaper than Hulu Plus.
Plus, you get several other "channels". Of course, your computer has to be running while your streaming. I'm just mentioning it as another option.

[Q] Hulu Plus on "Flash Video Browser" app?

OK...I bought this app because I wanted a simple way to get Hulu Plus working. I am running CM7 via a dual-boot SD card since I wanted to preserve the original B&N functionality. Adobe Flash 11 is installed too.
I'm hoping this is something really simple. When I start up the app and go to Hulu, the Hulu web page loads with no issues. So, I click on "Log In" and two things happen:
1. For a brief second, a login dialog pops up int he upper right (same as regular Hulu) asking me to enter a user name and password. It's only on the screen for about half a second.
2. Immediately afterwards, the web browser just goes to an "about:blank" page.
So, how I can I get past this and log into my Hulu Plus account to watch videos?
Unless I'm missing something the easy way to watch Hulu Plus is to download the Hulu Plus app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449110
I'd recommend going that route unless there is some reason why it wouldn't work with a dual boot setup. Your purchase isn't a total loss though I wouldn't mind having it for YouTube videos that won't play on mobile browsers. Just make sure you disable ad blocker if you have it installed before using the flash browser app.

I don't have it in front of me right now actually but the app definitely doesn't work. I think it gives some sort of "Your device is not supported" error but I'll check when I get home. So I'm looking for alternatives.
Well if you download the app from Google Play (Android Market) then you will probably have that problem. But the link I posted is from another thread here and its a modded APK that works very well. Again it should work unless there's an issue with dual boot setups I'm not aware of. Lol I've missed things before and some people make sure you know it.
Don't forget disabling ad blocker is the easiest and most common fix for your app in question. I would still recommend the Hulu app but you might as well get this browser app working too.
figured it out...
if you go to hulu.com/signin it will redirect to a login page... login..... this will save the cookie..... use back to exit fvb then when you open again just hit hulu ..... I found this post looking for a solution.... then did some experimenting and this just worked for me like 5 minutes ago.... hope this helps

thanks.. :fingers-crossed:
i hope it is not a virus infected site..
update:
it loaded/installed just fine.. and ran..
first try.. it got to hulu.com.. and showed full website.
tried to play a show.. it locked up.. had to FC it.
ran the app again.. going to hulu.com .. was a white screen. and that is all you can see.
so.. that app has been blocked or does not support hulu anymore.
NOTE: i did not try to load an older version of Flash Player. this might fix it.
but I am giving up on this.. till something is developed better.

Hulu Plus works beautifully on my Nook Color. Running CM10 from the SD Card.
It's not entirely clear whether or not you're using the modded app linked in the 2nd post. You need to use the modded app. Here's a link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n0e9qxeo1mt0onh
Before running the app, be sure to temporarily disable any ad-blocking you may be using.

Don't know if my different nook or rooted stock rom makes a difference. I have a rooted Nook Tablet (NT), no custom ROM. I cannot login from the directions in the earlier posts. However, I can watch certain things by browsing for them without signing on.
Here's what happens... I use the Flash Video Browser (bought in store... can't remember if it was through amazon, google play, etc.). I search for a show. If they have free versions of that show click on it (I think logging in might allow a higher quality but it looks great on my 7" screen as is). If ever you are confronted with a white screen, in address bar it says "about:blank", I hit the back button (I use the back button on Button Savior from Google Play store). When I hit the back button it plays the video.
If it shows the white screen after you search, similarly the back button will bring you back to the search results. Hope this helps.

[Q] HBO Go is a no go...

Any one aware of a work around to get this app to work on our 7.7?
Has anyone got that to work on Honeycomb?
.....wrong forum
you can run in your browser @ hbogo.com
Properly saves login info now too
Just need to use hidebar or gesture hide to get full screen
HBO dev team emailed that they will have great app for tablet users in early summer for honeycomb & ics

[Q] HBO Go Not Working

Is anyone else having issues with HBO Go?
I have installed the app. I can log in via Cox with no trouble. Everything looks to be fine until I try to play something. Then it will show the HBO Go screen and the ratings. After that though all I get is the spinning wheel for like 3 minutes and then it goes back to the episode page. This happens when connected via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. I am not having any problems with HBO Go on any of my other devices (4 PCs and a Momo 7 tablet).
HBO GO FIX for MOJO
I was having the same trouble you described. I originally downloaded the hbo go app off the google play store which is version 3.0.1. got that same error. I and uninstalled found a different version 2.4.03 at mojo.madkatz.com using Chrome Browser and it fixed the problem. the site starts with a new owner tutorial slideshow before sending you to the full site. I know this post is from 6 months ago, but I could find no other information on any forum about how to fix it, so I hope this helps someone. That website also has other suggested and compatible versions of apps listed.
