Anyone know if there will be a 3g, wimax, lte device coming to US carrier sprint?

They have no intentions on a phone with that but I believe they are coming out with a Hotspot with all of them

I saw that hotspot but was hoping a phone would be awesome

Galaxy S2 would be 3g or 4g?

I know it's not a real 4g but t-mobile uses HSPA+ 21Mbps and sell it as a 4g.
And all I know is gsm version of sgs2 comes with HSPA+ 21Mbps.
So probably verizion version would be 3g but t-mobile version would be 4g out of the box? Just out of curiosity.
Frankly no one knows, just guessing and speculation now

I know it's just guessing and speculation now. But let's say sgs2 is already out in Europe and Korea and there is a rumor that sprint would roll out their version of sgs2 as early as end of next month. And there are news reports that samsung would roll out sgs2 lte (1.7gh snapdragon) on September in Korea. These mean if verizon rolls out sgs2 before September it would be definitely 3g. And if t-mo rolls out same sgs2 around that time frame (although it's gsm) they gonna sell that same phone as 4g(also it would be a lot faster than verizon's 3g). And for at&t they could use HSPA+(not sure). So if verizon rolls out sgs2 before September it cannot compete with t-mo or at&t variant. If verizon wants to compete with t-mo or at&t (probably they gonna advertise sgs2 as 4g) verizon should wait till sgs2 lte would come out.
So My guess is we gotta wait till late September or later for lte version.

Until someone has the production ready device in hand and can examine the hardware, or Samsung/VZW release the product specs, there is nothing definite. Even if one could get ahold of pre-release software/firmware, there would be nothing that confirm nothing, just show you want pre-production models are using. So, if you want to continue speculation, the SGS2 will show up and make you 3 square meals a day, clean your house, teleport you to work, and shoot out rainbows and unicorns when you're feeling blue. Until actual device specs come out, it's anyone's guess as to what the SGS2 will be like on VZW.
I understand what you mean, sir.
I'm just curious. When I saw the spec of sgs2 I saw HSPA+ 21m. That means if t-mo release sgs2 now they could brand it as a 4G device. On the other hand if verizon rolls out sgs2 now they can not claim it as a 4G device. What I mean is if that is the case there should be some impact for pricing the device, especially droid charge cost $300 which isn't big difference from fascinate except samoled+ & lte modem. We'll see when it comes out.

VZW wouldn't be releasing the same device as T-Mobile anyways, because of GSM vs. CDMA. So who's to say that VZW wouldn't put in an LTE radio in their version now? The 10.1 Tab will be LTE on VZW in July and has the same slim form factor. I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for the SGS II
You're right. T-mo and verizon use different tech(gsm vs cdma) but when galaxy s variants came out on big 4 they all have almost identical spec. So I just guess that would happen again for sgs2. Also samsung can put lte modem for function(verizon). But news release in Korea indicate samsung release first lte version of sgs2 for Korean market on september. Even if samsung could make lte version of sgs2 before september then what about the droid charge? if verizon release function with lte within a few months it's gonna go over $350 with 2 yr contract cause charge is $300.
Anyway it's gonna be very interesting.
I would think if anything, the Charge would drop in price and the SGS II would take it's place, price-wise
Yep. That would make sense.
l just hope it would stay within price range I can afford.

ummm....When Galaxy S series was released, Sprint version was the Epic4G and the only one with a slide out keyboard
Google Samsung Function. There is a speculated spec sheet right on top. Also includes pics.

There were some other differences, too. The Fascinate and Epic had camera flashes while the others didn't, and the Fascinate has 25% less RAM.
The Fascinate also came out nearly 2 months after T-Mobile's Vibrant. Long story short, what other carriers do or don't do is completely irrelevant to us.
As long as I remember all 4 variants of galaxy s fo US market have 512mb ram. What I remember is system info (quadrant) on captivate shows around 340mb something which is almost same as fascinate.

With the latest roms available I would easily be satisfied with the fascinate for another two years if only it had a little more ram. Ram is really my only complaint at all with this phone.

At first I was thinking 3G since they couldn't fit an LTE radio. But they managed to squeeze one in the 8.6mm GTab 10.1, so maybe they can here too. Even if they have to make it 8.6mm thin, I won't care, it'll be an awesome device. Unless Verizon Bings this one.
It would be nice, but it would call for some heavy duty changes by Samsung engineering wise. Have you noticed the sheer size of the lte phones? The whole lte system doesn't have the whole system on a chip it and it requires two separate radios, which is why it allows talk and surfing. This would make the galaxy s2 pretty huge unless Samsung has created an lte system on a chip for this phone.
According to the leaked rumored spec sheet, 4G will be included. Here is the link below.

4G Rom

Okay I have a new galaxy tab. I also have the SGS II, which is rooted so I am well aware of the process. I have looked all over these threads and can't seem to find a rom that works for the 4G and wifi tab. I see some that works for 3G. Need some assistance on this before I dive in and root. Thanks.
If you're talking about the sch-i905 (verizon LTE model of the galaxy tab 10.1) the answer is no. There is no CM9 ROM available that has working LTE.
So if you're in need of mobile data using the verizon version of the tab you'll have to just root 3.2 and wait.
I have the T mobile 4G galaxy Tab. I am guessing its the same thing though. Thanks.
No it's not the same thing.
When it comes to differentiating device hardware types on mobile broadband devices one should never rely on the 3g/4g nomenclature to draw model comparisons. Various carriers use the terms generally for marketing purposes. The reality is there are Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices marketed by some carriers as 4g that are LTE and some that are not. I'm not arguing that HSPA+ isn't 4g mind you, but there definitely is a difference between an LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1 and another model that's otherwise marketed as 4g.
Bottom line; look at specific device model numbers, not the 4g nomenclature, your T-Mobile based tablet is most certainly not the SCH-i905 model on which my response was based.

[OFFICIAL] SGSIII Hitting 5 US Carriers in June

http://briefmobile.com/galaxy-s-iii-hitting-5-u-s-carriers-starting-in-june#press-release-outside
"Samsung Mobile has just announced that Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular will all get the Galaxy S III in June. The company adds, “Exact pricing and retail availability will be announced by each of the five carriers in the coming weeks.”‘ The company said prices will be “starting from $199,” but we are not sure if that price will hold steady on all carriers.
Samsung PR also says that the company plans on “delivering the same iconic smartphone design and premium content sharing experience with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular.” That would lead one to believe Samsung is delivering the same design on all carriers and not having a different variant for each."
Best news I've heard, thanks for posting this.. ill have a a verizon sgs3 in my hands no time!
Try not to open new thread every time you read an article. There is already a usa thread
I'm not the USA but I'm glad Samsung is releasing the same model everywhere (CDMA/LTE/4G aside).

Everyone will mostly get s4 dual core because of LTE. Even though tmobile is not LTE their upgraded HSPA+ 42 or whatever speed is only supported by s4. So don't expect to see exynos in any US version.

Verizon S3 convert to GSM and foreign SIM?

I'm going on a trip in two weeks. What's the easiest way to use a foreign SIM in a rooted Verizon S3 and back to Verizon?
You're in the wrong forum man.
Go here for the verizon S3

The Verizon variants have a CDMA antenna and not a GSM antenna, so its not possible.
EDIT: The country you're visiting must have CDMA-variant verizon partners to roam, I highly doubt they will as CDMA is not widely supported unless your in the USA or China.

Good news!
The good news is that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 through Verizon now have global roaming capabilities. The bad news is that Verizon apparently believes the "sometime after launch" promise it made equals a half-year wait.
Last June, when the Galaxy S3 was about to launch, I wrote about how Verizon promised it would allow for global roaming and using any SIM card, not just one locked to a Verizon calling plan.

[Q] How do I get my AT&T S4 to work on tmobile 4g network

Hi,
I just received a S4 for AT&T. I have service with T-mobile. With my previous phone (At&T galaxy note 2) the T-mobile service was absolutely horrible until I found a tutorial to run T-Mobile 3G/4G AWS bands on the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317. So in order to receive full tmobile 4g on my AT&T S4 will I have to go thru the same process?? or will just unlocking the and putting my the phone be sufficient. Please let me know:good:
thanks in advance
I unlocked mine this morning by putting my coworkers T-Mobile SIM card from his S3 in my AT&T S4. After a swift boot up it showed T-Mobile 4G in the status bar so just putting the card in will be enough to get T-Mobile's 4G variant.
