I have a debranded Orange UK phone and I have been having problems when roaming.
I have recently been to the Netherlands and Romania, and I have to manually select the network. This is really annoying if I move from one cell to another I have to again manually select the network. so most of the time I'm roaming I am not contactable. I have obviouslly tried setting it to automatic but it is unable to connect when I do this.
First select a network manually, then again go to wireless networks, then select automatic.. I has this problem earlier...

Ok, Ive always had crappy 3g on my x10 but i put it down to signal issues, i thought i was in a poor 3g area.
I noticed whilst playing around in the settings that i could set the phone from WCDMA only, whereas before it was GSM with WCDMA preferred.
This sorted the problem out perfectly, great 3g performance even with crappy signal, the problem is that for some reason this means when there is no 3g signal it doesnt just fallback to GSM for voice.
From what i have read on the net it seems like changing to WCDMA only should -only- affect the data connection, not the phones voice connection.
Am i doing something wrong?
Is there a way that i can force the phone to use 3G only for data, but still use GSM for voice?
Thanks
in that case you should set the settings to like this 1. wireless controls 2. mobile network 3. network mode "WCDMA" then 4. network operator then search network tap the available current network what u r using do not select the automatically 5. done
after that turn off the phone remove the simcard for 5 sec. then turn on again wala u have 3 to 4 signals on ur 3g connection....

ouch, seriously doubt that's possible on the x10
maybe deleting the 3g APN or creating a blank one and just selecting the right mms one
Isn't MMS dependent on data?

It is but you can create 2 APNs one for data and one for MMS and after enable/disable the data APN on case by case needs
At least i think it works on rogers because i saw separate settings for MMS only.
I am confused too. Hohoho... But as I remember, previous phones (such as X1,X2,p990) did have this options. Correct me if I am wrong. Because I always connect internet/browsing using wifi. Except mms.

Hi I have a problem with the data, it is often as if he lost the connection to the mobile network internet shutting down for a few seconds and then reconnecting after a while. The whasap not send, do not load the pages ... I have to remove and replace the data.
Does anyone know why is this happening?
thanks
What is your APN settings? I had my APN protocol and APN roaming protocol set to IPv4/IPv6 and was having the same issue. I switched it to IPv4 only and haven't had an issue since.

I found a little trick. by keying in *#*#4636#*#*
in phone information on the option to change the network type, I replaced wcdma preferred for LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) and the problem is gone.
Served to me to, I hope you do too

I did that trick, but after rebooting the phone, setting reverts to the original one, "WCDMA preferred". Is there any way to force that setting to be permanently saved?

Restarting the phone is restored to as before, no rebooting.
Is a solution a little bad, but at the moment there is nothing better
Feels like my battery dies a bit too fast with regular use and I would like to test out running on 3 and 3.5 G only. Any way to do this? (ATT version)

Network band selection menu is removed from the AT&T rom. It has always been absent. They are forcing everyone to use their lte network and not the slower network.

*#*#4636#*#* select first option and scroll down and select WCDMA only there ya go.... Been brought up hundreds of times already

Yes.... Ive been using this for years....
And if you WANT to make it stick download Net monitor from the market place and click menu and go through the service menu turn RAT supporting off/on or whatever then choose go through and find what you want to set it up if you want it TO STICK. BUT I have HAD a TON of issues in the long run by changing those settings on a ton of different phones and I always end up with an issue with Service of some kind later down the road. So I just use the code I menched above as it resets when phone is restarted.

From what I understand about doing it this way, you will be stuck in that band only. So if you are ever in a low coverage area such as Edge, you will have no signal. Its not WCDMA + auto. Its ONLY WCDMA.

hey there I tried the code you provided above and set the network mode to wcdma preferred, but still i can see the lte symbol near the battery icon at the top.. does it mean i'm still getting the lte network?
After selecting WCDMA mode, my phone's network was completely lost. But, If I switch in GSM mode then my phones network works again smoothly on GSM network. But in my area the network operator's network that I'm using is too good for WCDMA network on others phone..
Someone please help me to use WCDMA mode on my Samsung SGH-I337 in my religion

Try dialling *#*#4636#*#* and select the first entry (Telephone information). You can set your preferred network type there. On my phone there are a lot of options to choose from, including LTE only, WCDMA only, etc.
