Network band selection menu is removed from the AT&T rom. It has always been absent. They are forcing everyone to use their lte network and not the slower network.

Yes.... Ive been using this for years....
And if you WANT to make it stick download Net monitor from the market place and click menu and go through the service menu turn RAT supporting off/on or whatever then choose go through and find what you want to set it up if you want it TO STICK. BUT I have HAD a TON of issues in the long run by changing those settings on a ton of different phones and I always end up with an issue with Service of some kind later down the road. So I just use the code I menched above as it resets when phone is restarted.

From what I understand about doing it this way, you will be stuck in that band only. So if you are ever in a low coverage area such as Edge, you will have no signal. Its not WCDMA + auto. Its ONLY WCDMA.

hey there I tried the code you provided above and set the network mode to wcdma preferred, but still i can see the lte symbol near the battery icon at the top.. does it mean i'm still getting the lte network?

After selecting WCDMA mode, my phone's network was completely lost. But, If I switch in GSM mode then my phones network works again smoothly on GSM network. But in my area the network operator's network that I'm using is too good for WCDMA network on others phone..
Someone please help me to use WCDMA mode on my Samsung SGH-I337 in my religion

TMobile Edge to H signal???

I live on the borderline Edge and G3/H signal towers. When it switches to Edge, the G2 is EXTREMELY slow on the data.
Is there anyway to force the G2 to maintain the G3/H signal and cut out the edge? I live in Rancho Cucamonga, CA and seems that its always on edge instead of the faster speeds. Please help!
Try going to settings> mobile networks
Then make sure that "use only 2g networks" is off
Then go to access points name and select "tmobile data" if that doesn't work go to a tmo store and complain

It's *#*#4636#*#*
GSM/Auto (PRL) seems to hold onto UMTS/HSPA longer than WCDMA (Preferred).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6591742&postcount=2
tried to force the setting but it will go back to the wcdma preferred setting afterwards...anyone see the same?
is the Gsm/AUTO only better?
Not sure. Sometimes it seems like if I back out instead of hitting home it defaults back.

According to "T-Mobile" they said there upgrading their towers for the HSPA+ network thats why calls and text messages are not going thru sometimes........Lol!!
I just pressed back after changing the setting on mine and it's sticking.
I set it to GSM Auto (PRL) and it does seem to make a big difference in battery life (3G coverage is kinda funny in my area).

I believe you can set the phone to only receive CDMA and LTE in the Mobile Networks option of the settings (in the more section)
You can also set it to receive only GSM, GSM and CDMA, or all available networks.

CDMA=3G, LTE=4G. Right? Since I am on the Verizon network, the only circumstances that I would connect to GSM is if I left the USA, right? I wonder if there's a way to isolate LTE connectivity and turn off 3G all together..

You on stock or a custom ROM?
That sounds like a radio problem tbh.
You can't use LTE only - in fact, LTE requires a CDMA or GSM base for stuff like phone calls so it always has to be connected to 3g or 1x.
There's a possibility that switching airplane mode or pulling your SIM out would force LTE to reconnect
Solution: Yes you can force lte
I'm not a engineer or a radio analyst but I do believe what the previous post says about LTE needing CDMA is completely wrong - it certainly doesn't need to have CDMA or any other radio band to effect LTE. That being said, LTE is BASED off of 3G CDMA. But again, I may be inaccurate, however I think the "proof is in the pudding"......HOW TO FORCE TO LTE (ONLY)
1. Open up your phones dial pad
2. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (An app with the title "Testing" should open automatically... but not 100% sure. If it doesn't open auto hit dial....
3. Select "Phone Information"
4. Scroll down the phone information page, you should see the first button that says "Turn off radio"..... We want to focus on the item right above that. By default it's set to "LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA"
5. Click on that which should provide a drop down list, with specific radio bands.
6. In your case select "LTE Only"
7. Profit!
FYI: IN "LTE Only" mode you will not be able to make or receive calls - this is good for DATA only. You can manually reset back to default mode but regardless every time your phone reboots it will go back to default.
Well yeah that's true. Not really sure if vzw will let you connect though. But yeah no calls or text

[Q] Shortcut to toggle 2G? [SOLVED]

I'm currently using PA and looking for an easy way to toggle "Use 2G only" when I connect to a wireless network. I've tried tasker and llama, but they change the network mode when toggling back. I'm configured for 4G, so switching back to WCDMA doesn't help me much.
Thanks in advance.

What do you you mean with they changed the network mode when toggling back?
Swyped from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
Tasker and llama have an option to toggle 2G/3G or wimax. When it executes the command to switch to 2G, it checks the box and switches network type to GSM. When you toggle it again, it unchecks the box but also switches back to WCDMA which is the default network type. I need the network type to stay LTE/GSM.

I don't use Paranoid Android but I'm pretty sure it has Quick Settings customization. You just go into Quick Settings menu and enable "Network modes". The older CyanogenMod power widgets have that toggle too.

LTE option only show up if you flash the LTE package that install LTE baseband and edit the build.prop to enable it. It's a separate toggle dedicated to turning on and off LTE only.

I have LTE auto-enabled. My issue, is getting an auto-toggle between 2G and LTE.
I don't know if you have downloaded and used power toggles. I use the power toggles widget and quite easily toggle 3g & 2g. Hope this helps.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
There is no CyanogenMod toggle to allow you to get directly between LTE and 2G, you have to first disable LTE, it will automatically go to HSPA after that, then you have to press the 2G/3G toggle to change it to 2G manually. I do not know of any other ways. In *#*#4636#*#*, you can select LTE/GSM, but I doubt it will work for your purpose either.
Thanks for some of the replies, but I'm NOT trying to change the network mode. My network mode is currently set to LTE/GSM and if I check the "use 2g only" (see screen shot) then the network mode switches to GSM only and back to LTE/GSM when unchecked. Any of the toggles listed by others above change the network mode and have no method to change the network mode to LTE/GSM.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I was able to do this with Tasker. I didn't realize that by default, Tasker will restore settings to their previous state when they exit the profile. Previously, I was trying to use a second profile to set the network mode back, and this is where I ran into problems. I also set up a second profile (along with the Secure Settings plugin) to enable/disable GPS when going between Wi-Fi.
Now, to just configure it to NOT switch the network mode while on a call.. I think there's an IF statement for that.
You can use secure settings with tasker to force lte also. That's what I do.

This won't be very helpful, but I found out AOKP have a specific 2G toggle, I would guess this means PAC rom should have it to. You can toggle between LTE and 2G, but switching it to LTE really means 'lte/wcdma/gsm'.

What speeds should I expect with an international sim card from the UK?

I'll be in the UK this fall and assuming Sprint gives me the unlock code, I should be able to just pop in a sim card from any British telecom, update the APN and I'm connected on a prepaid account.
Assuming this is right, what speeds can I expect for data? I'm guessing that Sprint's 4G is not compatible with any of the 4G signals there, and thus I'll be stuck on 3G, right?
No lte but
H+ I think which is 3.5g

You should make sure that you are set to the correct hspa+ revision for Vodaphone. It could be that they aren't using 1900mhz to its full potential like tmobile does in the states too, as in maybe most of their hspa+ traffic is offloaded to a spectrum this phone can't connect to.
As for the op, it does seem like a super straightforward process, sprint will OTA unlock too btw, no codes for this phone. However if and when it doesn't work visit autoprime 's thread on international sim unlock and you should be good to go.

Hey, I am OP and replier too. haha
So how do I set to the correct H+ revision for Vodafone? I don't even know where to check for this. I'd imagine this phone is just limited in what it can do on the network, or Vodafone isn't using signals that this phone can utilize well. I would try O2 but Vodafone gave the better options initially.

I've been reading about vodaphone uk and it seems that they use the 2100 mhz for h+ and this phone is capable(i think) . If you can get into the service mode "hidden menu" (ie *#0011#) there is an option under the menu Umts>debug>phonecontrol>networkcontrol>bandselection > where you can select all etc. Also has an option for hspa channel etc.

S4 GT-I9505 Only GSM Problem [SOLVED]

Hi
I have S4 9505 and it only connects to gsm 900 band which is EDGE in my country. I'v searched but i came up with nothing so thats why I'm asking here if any1 knows how to fix this phone to register on 1800 or 1900 LTE bands. Im pretty sure that it has to do with the modem. Is there any way to force the phone to register 1900 band through service mode *#0011#?

Did it ever work on LTE? It might be that your SIM isn't LTE capable or that your provider has yet to enable it for your number/contract. This happened to me too when I got the phone and wondered why LTE wouldn't work. Try asking them about this.
Also, I'm not on stock anymore but I think there might be a setting for network preference somewhere, something akin to limiting data only to EDGE/H+.
