I have a debranded Orange UK phone and I have been having problems when roaming.
I have recently been to the Netherlands and Romania, and I have to manually select the network. This is really annoying if I move from one cell to another I have to again manually select the network. so most of the time I'm roaming I am not contactable. I have obviouslly tried setting it to automatic but it is unable to connect when I do this.
First select a network manually, then again go to wireless networks, then select automatic.. I has this problem earlier...

Hi,
I have a problem with choosing a network when abroad on my diamond 2.
I go to Settings and then Network and from the drop-down, I choose manually, which means that I choose network manually when I am abroad but it always chooses for me and never displays choices to choose between as it does in e.g. Nokia.
How do I do that on my Diamond? Is there any chance that I keep my phone connecting to one network and never on any other networks when I am abroad?
The thing is that in Denmark, it is free to use network 3 as well as in Sweden, neighbour country. So It would be nice to have it connecting to network 3 and no others. It drops 3 sometimes when network is low or lost and connects to next network automatically even though I choose manual? Anybody can help with that please?

You'll need to contact your network provider.
Go into Comm Manager, select the Phone (not the on/off switch), go to the bottom and select Band. Make sure both are set to Auto. Sometimes this is set to GSM and wont work in America.
Then go to Settings, select All Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Network. Change from Automatic to Manual, then select Find Network. If you can see networks then the problem is with your network provider not allowing you to connect.
Silly question, but have you taken your phone off Airplane Mode in the Comm Manager from the flight?

I've tried different ROM and baseband combination, but I'm not able to have my phone work with data over the network. Everything's fine! I have provider's signal at a good level, and I can connect through wi-fi. I configure the APN for my region and provider, but the result is the same: signal quality bars are there, but I don't have the usual letters next to them, indicating the type of connection available (3G, HSDPA, EDGE, etc.) What' can I do? I'm now running this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335287 with it's baseband, but I'm not able to make it work with data. HELP!!!
go to data usage and select from where you connect to 3G, this is what i did once and it`s wirked, i was needed to choose from vodafone , orange and cosmote, from where i get the 3g signal

That's what I have done! I even got the APN for my network provider. I set it manually. It doesn't work. Man, I'm really desperate. I'm paying for a service I'm not using, and worse of all, I tried to install a stock version and cellphone fails the installation. HELP!

Hello everybody, I can't find a solution. I live in border area and sometimes foreign operators are stronger and my nexus connects in roaming, I've turned off data in roaming, but calls still sometimes goes true other carrier. Did somebody have any idea how to turn off automatic network selection, all my previous devices used to have this function. Turning off roaming from carrier is not a solution. Thank you.

Just go into settings, mobile networks, Network Operators and select an operator manually.
Whenever that operator is unavailable you will loose signals and for other operators, you have to select them manually.

it works for me in roaming all the time.
Hello all,
I have resorted to posting here as i have trawled the web for a solution without any luck. Here is my problem hope you can help.
I have a nexus 4 and am currently in Spain. After traveling abroad and not using data roaming i came back to Spain to no mobile data connection. The usual tricks of restarting, toggling mobile data airplane mode didn't work. It was quite frustrating. I went as far as to cancel my contract and go for a prepaid card - Lebara as they have a decent data tariff - but the problem persisted. I have configured the APN, gone through all the restart procedures, even factory reset the phone twice and nothing helped.
Mobile data is switched on. I have the APN set up as needed. However, the H E H+ never appear next to the bars on top no matter what i do. I have ordered another SIM card from a different operator in desperation but it might not be here for another week.
I really hope it is not the phone but now I really don't know. I am taking suggestions...
Thanks
PS one thing I just noticed is that if I download apps from my browser the device is listed as vodafone nexus 4 although I have never been on vodafone. This might have some relevance

Go to the dialer, press*#*#4636#*#* this brings you into new menu. go to the phone information to see to what network you are connected. if you scroll down you can force the phone to use 3g (WCDMA only) see if this work. this seting will change when the phone goes into reboot.
also if you happen to have the "3g bug" connecting to a wlan might help as stated by some users.
For me starting the hot spot function does the trick.

Thanks for the advice endet. I have done this but to no avail. When I switch to WCDMA only in the field GPRS service it says connecting for about a minute and then disconnected. After restart it is directly disconnected. I have toggled between GSM only and WCDMA only and restarted the radio. Played with the other settings in this screen and nothing. Only once did I get brief flash of the H on top but trying to replicate the steps didn't lead to anything.
Starting tethering didn't help either...
Could be something with my IMEI? Or CellInfoListRate?
