You're anxious for sense 4, but want to jump to iOS?? Okay...
Enjoy your tiny screen, lack of SD card, lack of widgets or customization at all, iTunes, unintuitive operation, crappy battery life, stupid notifications Android rip off, Angry Birds bills, entitled community of fellow users, and lack of LTE.

if they can't figure out why this hasn't happened yet and when to expect it (shortly after a sprint sense 4 phone hits) he doesn't know how to utilize most of what you mentioned
some people deserve what they get

ios5 is solid. everything you learned you here though, you can throw out of window since you are migrating to the world of lockdown
stay healthy

Although ios is pretty solid, once you break your iPhone, you'll be back unless your willing to pay 300$ for a new one with insurance.

He'll also enjoy a amazing camera, real world performance that can not be matched by any Android phone, a phone that doesn't require constant flashing for an enjoyable experience, great battery life, and a app ecosystem that is still the main priority of top developers. Oh, and real support that makes even Nexus owners jealous.

1. Dude Android has several phones with a camera better than the iPhone and have you not seen the One X's camera?
2. Rooting is not a necessity, it just makes the experience better. You could make the same exact argument for jailbreaking
3. You get a little more battery at the expense of power and multitasking
4. Implying Android does not have developers that are just as dedicated? I assure you the Play Store will eventually surpass the Apple App Store considering Android already accounts for more than half of the smartphone market share.
So yeah, have fun with your device OP

If you can't understand something as simple as when to use a or an, I'm sure you can't understand the differences between Android and iOS. Read a book.

I personally would either get the Nexus or wait a bit for the EVO LTE before getting the iPhone.

Well i hope you're not using your upgrade to jump ship to the iphone 4s. If so just wait for the evo4g lte. Sense 4.0 And if not sell your evo and use the money you would have spent on the iphone 4s and once again...use it to purchase the E4GLTE.

Or...jump ship and try IOS...who knows maybe you will love it. Took a quick gander at the iphone 4s before purchasing my SGS2 I like the way the phone looks and the OS is super smooth, but the screen size is what changed my mind real quick.Coming from the Evo4G i just couldn't handle going back to a screen that small. I'm an android person myself but wouldn't mind trying a new OS for a year or so just for something different.

No one is hurt. It was a thread that made no sense. Not to mention that iOS is the "enemy" of Android, so there is going to be some hard feelings when someone talks about jumping ship. If you go on a Pepsi forum and talk about Coke, you shouldn't expect anything less than some heat. It doesn't qualify as "trolling."
If you want Sense 4.0 real bad, you buy a Sense 4.0 phone, seeing as one is coming out right now. Why "jump ship" if there is no Sense 4.0 for our EVO 4G when you can get the legitimate version?
Secondarily, people SHOULD balk at the fact that someone is going from Android to iOS, because most people seem uninformed about iOS and think it is great when it indeed is not. Although the thread came off as bashing, it is actually nice that people went out of their way to try and stop the purchase of an overpriced, overhyped phone. If you compare the two tit for tat, no one would buy an iPhone over the 4G LTE. It is a poor shopping choice. So take it as a compliment that people are trying to help you out I guess.

How is it bashing? I don't particularly like sense. I just wanted to see what Sense 4 is about but, not enough to commit to buying a new phone. I'm not saying the LTEVO won't be great, because my EVO was great to me. Now to all the others that talk about battery being bad on the iphone, I know that's a lie...I've had experience with ios and I know the battery last MUCH longer than any android device I've owned.
I'm done with customizing and flashing ROMs almost 2 or 3 times a week...but thanks for feedback

SGS2 vs IPhone 4

Hello guys my carrier is sending me an iPhone 4 but I can't decide to keep it or sell it and buy Sgs2? Cause I had lots of bad experience with apple before. And have x10 now that I'm happy with but want something better and new.

Hm I would sell it and either wait for an iPhone 5 June/July or take the SGS II. It is just about your needs. Big hands and gorgeous screen --> SGS II
Most beautiful apps and polished and awesome build quality: iPhone
decide what you really need and then choose your phone. Making a list should be helpful =)

SGSII but since it's not out yet, Cappy all the way.
iOS and Android, I will pick Android.
Apple and Samsung, I will pick Apple.
Also.. the iPhone 4 screen shatters with barely a strong glance at the GLASS screen.
Don't mention the word Apple or iPhone on xda. The mentally challenged will come out and bite rabidly. A better place would be HowardForums.
I would sell the iPhone 4 if you are comfortable with an x10. A sealed box will sell for a good price. Then you can wait for the SGS2. The iPhone 5 probably won't be announced until June, which is quite a while. I wouldn't buy anything right now though, since the stuff on the market right now isn't really an upgrade from what you already have.

Where's the ignore button.
OP, if you like the SGS2 then wait for it, or wait for iP5 see what apple puts out.
I am doing that right now, between SGS2 or iP5.
Most of the stuff you will get here is android fans, but in reality apple has much better hardware than anything on android (my opinion). The OS, well they are pretty similar, if you want your phone to just work apple all the way, if you want to customized then go android.
Just be aware that iPhone can also be customized by jailbreaking.
I have a 3GS that's almost 2 years old and it's working as good as day one.

Reality and personal opinion don't mix sadly. Anyway, depends what you mean by "hardware". Apple A4 was Samsung's Hummingbird, just with a lower clock and a slower GPU. Overall build quality may be better... until it falls and you're left with cracked glass all over the phone. Antennagate? Not sure about the much better now...
Software and integration is another story, that's where iOS definitely wins.

It's all relative to needs.
Sure, the iP is a pretty piece of hardware backed up but the brand fandom. everyone has it, everyone wants one.
As far as jailbreaking goes, the cat and mouse update/jailbreak game with apple gets old really fast... Every update of iOS patches something that dev team fixes and then they fix it and apple releases another update and .... you get the idea.
Jailbreaking every two months, playing with the unlocked baseband and risking ending up with a brick is no fun.
Personally I've decided to move away from every apple product, because apple doesn't necessarily have the greatest most advanced hardware, what they do have is massive marketing department with lots of talented people to make people want those devices (just look at apple product placement in the media).
In the end, it's a matter of usability, preference and what works for the individual; at this point in time, the iP4 is clearly outdated compared (hardware wise) to the devices coming out right now or in the coming month (Atrix, SGS2, etc...) and they will have had 6-7 months to prepare and get the iP5 design ready and produced by June-July-Sept with better hardware based on what they saw coming out from the competition at the CES and other events. By the time apple is done promoting their revolutionary iP5, Motorola, HTC and Samsuncg will have come up with somthing better based on the iP5 specs...
The cel phone war will never end, it will be the eternal peeing contest between large companies. As far as the consumer is concerned, we're just trapped in a vicious cycle we have created.
For me what weighs in, is the ability to have full control of my device. Therefore iP is a no go and thus a lesser device in my perception. Atrix was on top of the list until the Moto fiasco with the signed bootloader. The remaining option is the SGS2 depending on how easy it will be to update without relying on Samsung to do so.
On a side note, I've been using a iP3G since it came out and haven't upgraded the device, so I've been with it for almost 4 years; and seeing all these new android devices coming out everyday makes me hate it more day by day.
Android, for me, offers many more possibilities of growth than iOS will ever be able give me. I am not limited by a company as far as what I can do with the hardware that I hold in my hands.
I would rather take an operating system that is designed to let me do anything to it per my own needs and requirements than one that is marketed to the masses for mass consumption. There is nothing wrong with either, it is all preference. Apps fail to interest me as I have a busy and fun enough life to not care about too many of them In fact many people around me have pages of apps which i rarely see being launched except for the odd score checking/email app.
There is no point in comparison of the phone. In fact I would like it if Android makes its own features and chooses its direction instead of following iOS.
Well I would say to just use for a little while and see if you like it. If you do, great. If you don't, sell it.
Either way you could sell one now or keep both and sell both layer then the SG2 comes out.

Getting a 4S. Thanks for all the help!

I've been here for a while with my Inc, and even though I haven't really contributed a lot, I'd like to say thanks to all the people who have helped me through the modding adventure. I learned a lot, and even helped some friends with it. I've grown bored with the OS, though; I'm moving to a 4S so I can be less tempted to make minor changes and more able to enjoy everything. (I'll still jailbreak it, of course.) I'd just like to remind everyone that both options are equally awesome, albeit in different ways, and that there are some of us out here who enjoy both.
Enjoy dual core 3G. I'll let you know how LTE is on a dual core phone.

so, basically, you're buying into exactly what apple is selling: a locked down OS. gotcha. hey man, if that's for you and android is too complicated for ya, then so be it. enjoy your slightly upgraded iphone 4!
Coming from an Inc (or any 2010 Android phone for that matter) I would say that's a huge upgrade in regards to out the box performance.

I'm more buying into an OS other than Android. I've pretty much done everything I'd like to with Android; I've installed tons of roms and tweaks, but nothing gets around that it's all still the same OS. I figure I'll switch over to iOS to enjoy the better app selection and other features, then switch back to Android in a year or two so whatever enhancements made over that time will make it seem fresh to me. I'm not trying to incite flaming here by any means. I'm just offering my opinion and trying to show that there are, in fact, people out there who enjoy the benefits of any type of phone, regardless of brand loyalty.

They had better app selection in 2009, maybe early 2010. In late 2011.. no, plus android has a slew of mini-app-tweaks that Apple would ban if they ever entered their appstore.
I think iPhones are great too, but for non-techsavvy type people. Grandma's, my mom, etc. People who don't know how to really customize their android phone. Android's without customization have bloatware, turd settings, often sluggish, they're just pretty turdly all around. I didn't really love my phone until I rooted it and customized it.
I also like the build of iPhones compared with the majority of Android devices. Anyway personally, I think you'll regret your choice after a few weeks or until you realize all the things iPhone can't do.
I'm right there with you OP. I pre-ordered my 4S the other day. Android has been great (well, cyanogenmod at least) but I don't have the time to install roms anymore to figure out which I like best and I can't handle the bugs in the existing roms. It'll be nice to have a phone that doesn't randomly reboot or activate speakerphone for a change. And I'm tired of carrying around 2 devices for my music/phone. I don't have brand bias, I just know what I need in a phone, and that's consistency.

Yeah I never got that argument. I think in some ways it shows brand bias. Best purchase I made in the last couple of years was some software that stripped the drm off my iTunes music.
You're right, my Inc has a music player. But it doesn't sync with itunes, my ipod dock, or my car. Nor does it have the accessory support that iphone has. The one thing I will miss is native google turn by turn navigation. I'll definitely enjoy the better battery life! That's the one thing that kept me from jumping to an LTE phone instead. But I have enjoyed the community here and some of the hard work a few of the devs have put in.
This thread should have never been created and should be closed. You guys are just gonna set here and go back and forth at each other.
This isn't an Apple discussion sub category.
Let's get back to Android development for our Incredible.
i have a hard time understanding one thing. everyone who is an ios fan keeps touting the app selection over android.
then i ask them - is angry birds free?
/sadface
then i ask them - what are these great apps not available on android?
/one reply - infinity blade
then i ask them - have u ever used easy tether? played a real mmo on ur pc using just ur phone to get internet while camping?
/sadface
the only thing magical about ios is its ability to make people believe it can do more than it does.
"But it doesn't sync with itunes, my ipod dock, or my car."
sure it does. research it. there's apps that do it for free, or apps you can pay for.

Haha very true! Recently one of my colleague bought TWO iPhone 4Ss (one for him and another for his wife!). He was boosting like he has got a gold mine before I told him about GS2. He started telling that some Chinese phones even have TV tuners
I couldn't stop laughing at his ignorance that he was comparing SGS phones to Chinese replicas! Realized that he is just a small kid who never BOTHERED exploring the market to understand what he is going for. Thats what I call true iPhonetic!

Have you been around here lately? We already have dipshits all over the place. We need the dip**** terminator. Where is Arnold when you need him?
For all you Android fanboys - stop trying to prove a point. Android is good for people who want control over their device and aren't afraid to tinker with stuff. iOS is good for people who don't care, and just want their phone to work straight out of the box.
Android is getting more intuitive with ICS, but its still not as intuitive for new users as iOS. Deal with it. I absolutely love my SGS2 and Android, but I'm not about to fool myself (or anyone else) that Android is right for everyone.

Iphones are more fitted to people who just want a phone that works, games, entertainment. Android phones are for people who isn't afraid to muck around with their ****s. iOS and Android are both equally good and fitted for different purpose.

+1. Best comment on here. Stock galaxy s2 has nothing on a stock(not jail broken) ip4s. But im into tinkering thats why the iphone isnt for me.
looks like an iphone but powered by android baby!!!!
Iphone is the best smartphone in the world. Even the first iphone is much faster and smoother than the cheap plasticky SGSII. Glass is much more stronger even than titanium, and much costlier, that's why other manufacturers don't afford to use it.
Previous iphone had the 4G's, the Wi-Fis and sh!t and was cool, any fool can realize that the new iphone has 4Ses and not just 2 as the Galaxy, hence is twice as faster!
Android not good, it's only for rocket scientists.
Just to call someone you need to read "Android for Dummies, 3rd Edition" - chapter 10 "How can I make a phone call" and then read FAQ section: "How do I end a phone call".
Installing an app is covered in Chapter 45, Section 18 - screen by screen instructions with drawings.
iPhones are more of a status symbol than anything else. Apple give you a phone with pretty basic features and you will love it because it has a little badge on it. Samsung give you a phone with the capabilities of a mid-range PC. I'm not for or against both, I own a PC and a Mac, an S2 and an iPad. It's personal preference at the end of the day.
If anyone knows of a Winterboard equivalent for Android please let me know!

Never seen that before, i'm pissing myself with laughter here!
who the hell uses siri anyways i have about 6 friends that have iphones but don't use siri that much or at all.
As much as your Market is improving, I still think that is has a long way to go before it can reach the likes of the app store in term of quality! In term of quantity it's there but the apps on IOS are so much F***ING BETTER!!!
It puzzles me why when ever somebody starts a discussion like this a bunch of apple fanboys show up? Are you patrolling the internet looking for somebody who might insult your beloved icon?
Besides, what are you doing at xda in the first place. This is a forum for modders apple does not want you to do such things...

Complaining to get a new phone

So a lot of people received their ns4g by complaining to sprint about their evo. Since the ns4g is $100 and so I the iPhone 4, if I complain about my phone will I be able to trade it for a iPhone 4?
I'm sure you could try. A friend of mine complained to T Mobile for not getting the iPhone and he got three Galaxy S 2's for the family for 30 bucks each.
It's worth a shot.
(If anyone here is about to post about how wrong he is for wanting an iPhone, stop. It's his personal decision and for all you know he wants a phone that just works. Respect it.)
Guaranteed no phone is being exchanged for an iPhone unless you already have one. Matter of fact Sprint is not allowed by Apple to exchange iPhones only Apple can exchange them

Yep, the same is true with AT&T, and most likely Verizon. When I first got a 3G (back before my Android days, give me a break ) it had some dead pixels, and there was no way I was spending $200 for a phone with some dead pixels. I took it back to AT&T and they said I had to go to Apple. Not a big deal since there's plenty of Apple stores around me, but it backs up what DirtyShroomz said.
Awh haha. I've only had androids so I wanted to try out iOS. Guess I gotta wait for my upgrade in December :/

By then the iPhone 5 would probably be out anyway. It's an age-old fight with Android and iOS. I think everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on it, and if you want to try iOS, by all means, go for it. I will say that there is pretty much no customization as far as widgets and icons go. You can set the wallpaper and rearrange your 4x4 grid + dock, but that's about it. To each his own really. I had an iPhone and I don't miss it. BUT, I am glad I had one because I know what that experience is like.

*IF* you can jailbreak it Apple's actually pretty good at locking their stuff down. An exploit will pop up here and there, but they're pretty good at patching it back up and rendering it useless.
It's still nowhere near as customizable as Android, but it's definitely better than stock iOS.

You can't jailbreak it. Its been out for a year and you still can't. Apple plugged all glory holes, so no one can stray away from the isheep herd

Every iPhone up to the 4S has been jailbroken with an untethered jailbreak. The 4S, which came out a few months ago, has a working untethered jailbreak, it just hasn't been released to the public yet.
Who want's Iphone's anyway?!
Some people want the iPhone... about half of smartphone users according to a recent survey.
I enjoy iOS as much as Android but for different reasons. Currently for me, iOS 5 is superior than Android 3.x for a tablet, but I'm undecided / don't mind too much either way between iOS 5 and Android 4 on a handset.
But your own mileage will vary.

i think the untethered break is available now
Since the point of the OP was using a complaint as a leverage tool, I gotta say that I've complained to con agra foods for not putting enough meatballs in my O's with mini meatballs... Dont hesitate to complain about a paid service, or lack thereof.

Before I say goodbye to the iphone 4 and welcome to the S3..

I am seriously on the verge of bying an any network S3 here in the UK. Just before I make the jump can I ask if :-
1) Is there an app like lockinfo for JB iphones that acts like a today screen, listing all your upcoming appointments, missed calls, messages etc from the lock screen? I am happy to JB the andriod if I can do this.
2) Is there an app that works, to record telephone calls both ways without the beep.
3) I have already had huge responses over the volume hack, thanks everyone.
If I can the the 3, then I will take the jump.
All the best
Mik

Yes but best to root for answer phone.
1. Executive assistant for lock screen info
2. Total recall s2 s3 for auto records
Ps swapped iphone 4s for s3 and love it,
Had to buy SwiftKey though for keypad!

Android can do all that and more. The most valid reason to switch from iPhone is that... it simple sucks more than tim cook on a Saturday night.

Honestly you should stick to the iPhone. If it does everything you need and has all the apps that you use why bother switching? If it's for faster performance or bigger screen wait for the iPhone 5.
I think you should stick with the iPhone 5.
Your thread is plain dumb.

Yeah I noticed most iPhone users are too dumb to ever learn and love android. iOS is perfect for idiots and grandmas to use. So... I say stick with your icrap last thing we need is to convince another iPhone user to switch.
I tried switching a few iPhone idiots over and I've given up. They always complain how it's so hard to use and blame me for talking them into it, not my fault that using iOS for so long has killed off most of their brain cells.
Thanks everyone
Can I thank everyone for their input, even to those who thought my topic was a dumb. I want a new phone and bored with apple so no dis-respect, I have taken onboard everything said and decided to give the S3 a try. I have the option of returning it so I have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
I thought the JB term was hilarious, of course its jelly bean...
Thanks all
Mik
Don't believe the iSheep hype that IOS has more Apps than Android because Android can do anything iPhone can plus anything else you could ever wish, and the only reason IOS has more Apps is all the junk on the App Store that's never even been downloaded once.
Sigh. This thread really goes to show how disappointingly immature some Android users are.
Good to see you're thick skinned enough to ignore it.
I mean really... somebody about to switch from iOS to Android and a couple of idiots just want to post abuse?

I traded iPhone 4s for SGS3 and I like it much more. There arent limits like you cant set mp3 for a ring tone or alarm tone etc. Stock SGS3 is more open and adjustable than jailbroken iOS. You can find executive assistant for lockscreen info in Google Play, also there are many apps for call recording..
Here on XDA you will find a lot of helpful infos, so it will be easier to get used on android

All types of people no matter what forum you go act like idiots, I mean come on the mans asking for help are you guys that immature that you have to abuse him instead of Helping him? He had the brains to ignore you all and still give it a shot..
Everyone wants to try something different just try your best to help. And if you do not have anything good to say just ignore it. Your all making the Android community look like it's full of douche bags seriously help or ignore them..
Android has all the things you mentioned mate you can get apps for everything you mentioned i hope you give it a try and hopefully you like it..
True, there are fanboys everywhere and its disgusting. But @ OP, you just figured out the matrix, your free now and know the truth! I'm pretty sure whatever you can do on a jail broken iPhone, you can do it on an android phone ( maybe even without root ) so try the S3 and keep it if you like it, if not you can always, return it. Good luck

Hi Mbeaumont.....Let me share with you my personal experience....I use to have an IPhone 4....and was quite happy with it, till I realized that whenever I want to explore more the OS and make the best out of it....was a real nightmare, no way to play with the system even Jailbroken, the limits are there and the Break of the Jail was only a shadow door to endless issues and tricky sophistications....I'm not blaming Apple for doing that.....I do have all the Apple MacBook serie......but to me if you are an explorer and want to learn more about any device you buy the choice specifically in the mobile market is very obvious.
Since I have bought the S3 back in July......what an amazing experience it is.....this phone and especially this Android OS is a piece of art that will make every single day of your life for passionate people like me.
Finally I quote John Keating in the famous "Dead Poets Society" movie........"There's a time for daring and there's a time for caution, and a wise man understands which is called for."

I agree. Being polite costs nothing.
I made the same switch you did, and would not go back. My mother is now happy with the iphone 4 i gifted her, and I won't be leaving android anytime soon. But it's true that the app market is less appetizing on android atm, even if this is changing with time, and the change is speeding up. Yesterday handled the iphone a bit, looked like a kid's toy to me, even if i recon being happy using it all these years. Also the gs3 is HUGE compared to it and takes a little time totake a good grip on.
