[Q] Htc cannot read and sdcard after I changed to android? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Dear everyone, as stated in the title,
If there any idea why my hd2 cannot read my sdhc card after i changed from window to android? (the same sdhc card works well with laptop)
And do we need a sd card to recover a rom without DAF.exe? Thanks in advance.

it could be that wp locked the card. there is a thread here about un-locking your card.
or try to get mini tool partiton / eause to format the card & give it a go again.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
There's two threads about it, but it's still not stated a clear solution there.
Btw bro, may i know how to do partition in sd card? Using the MAGLDR repartition? And do i need to insert the sd card into my phone then only can do the partition process? thank you.

first thing first, what do want to do?
if you do want to partition your SD card via HD2 you have to have CWM or the option in magldr #8 AD Recovery, from there you have options to format or partition your SD card.

When i was installing CWM into my sd card, the command prompt stated that it cannot reach my sd card, which means cannot read.
Is there any other solution for it?
PS: I'm on DFT LEO NAND Andriod (stock), is there anyone encounter the problem and problem solved? Is it about the the stock rom i used? I mean the rom itself has problem in reading sd cards?
Thanks.

mount SD card in MAGLDR (not recovery) and format it with SDFormatter tool.
Not with any other tool but SDFormatter
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
and specificly mount in MAGLDR not in CLK or Recovery.
To conclude: MAGLDR mount + SDFormatter

Thanks bro for the reply, I have tried to format my SD card with the SDformatter before, same thing still happened..
Btw, sorry for the noob question, how to mount my card with magldr? Thanks in advance.

Ah, C'mon, please search the forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
grab the partition manager from there and repartition your sd card and you are back to bussines.
this will work
download Attach Files and this should work then right click on card and format again fat 32 quick plz give me thank this will work
Also, you can format your sd card from android itself. Go to settings, unmount your sd card and format it. Easiest way.
If you have a custom rom you can format the partitions from the recovery menu too
im really confused so i want to unmount it plug in the usb and use window formatter to reformat is?

[Q] SD Card Help!

Hey guys. I'm currently running this ROM, I've been using it for a few days and have had no problems but today, when I turned the phone off and turned it back on, it took ages to turn back on. Then when it did it all looked them same but was kept freezing etc., then up in the notification bar it said "SD Card Removed Unexpectedly" then my phone went crazy with FC's.
So I took out the battery and restarted the phone. Then, it would turn on and go to the lock screen but then it would reboot and be at a continuius* boot loop of the HTC 'Quietly Brilliant' screen.
So then I took out the battery again, this time I took out the SD card too and booted up and my phone was normal again. Obviously with no phone storage though as there was SD card in. Then after I just skipped the setup I put my SD card back in to my phone and went to the music player and all my saved songs on my SD card played. But no internal storage (I have the SD card partitioned with a 1GB Ext3 partition). Then with the SD card in knowing it still works I rebooted again, only to come back to the HTC screen again.
So basically, how can I fix this?
If I'm going to need to format my SD card is there a way I can backup what's in the Ext3 partition?
Thanks,
L.
Bump. Need to be able to use my phone properly again urgently. Thanks.

It sounds like something is really funky (faulty hardware?) with either your SD card or your phone. You could try reformatting it with that Panasonic tool...
You can backup your SD-EXT partition with CWM/CWR. You can boot CWM from MAGLDR without flashing anything. Just put zImage and initrd.gz from the CWM download on the root of your SD card and boot "AD SD" from MAGLDR.

Thanks for the reply. It's not the phone as I have a 2GB SD card in it right now but that's not big enough.
Yeah I have a problem with CWM, when I click AD SD it says some Kernel error thing.
Is there any other way to find the files in my Ext partition using my computer?

Unfortunately not that I am aware of. Where are the CWM files located on your SD card? Are they on the root or in a subfolder? Did you modify the path MAGLDR looks for the "AD SD" path? Are you using the latest CWM release?
Yep they're on the root of it. I think it's 1.12 I have ATM. How do I modify the path? :S
Nevermind. I tried re-installing and it worked on my 2GB SD. But the thing is, the files I want are on my 16GB that won't read lol. I'll try flash it on that now.
Tried to flash my 16GB. Says SD Kernel Open Failed in red letters? Works with my other SD card though? :S
Now I just tried with my 2GB and it's saying the same thing again.

[Q] NAND Rom damaged my microSD?

Hi,
So I have this weird issue.
My microSD sanDisk 8GB worked fine with my first NAND Rom (NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9G_NAND).
Then I wanted to try a new Rom so I flashed to another Rom (DL.DesireZ.v3.4.final.nand). Before doing this I also fully formatted my SD to FAT32.
I had my microSD in the phone while flashing the second one. And after the boot, it didn't not recognize th SD at all, "preparing your SD" didn't even appear. So I try to put the microSD into PC, and it still recognizes it. I can moves files into it and it works. But the phone just the doesn't read the SD.
Then I tried my friends SD, I did a full format to FAT32. And guess what, it works.
So, the only conclusion I can come to is there's something wrong with my SD and the cause was the second rom.
P.S. I'm back to my first Rom now. And still, SD card unmounted or not present.
Sucks you lost your SD card but the rom or magldr did not damage your card you must of done something wrong to where your phone is not reading the card. You should wipe everything and try again chances are it will work like a charm.
Formatting
Hi, thanks for reply. I tried to reformat 3 times already with a same result.
My settings are:
FAT32 (FULL FORMAT)
Allocation: 64kb
Maybe panasonic formatter can help you.

Hi, thx for replying. Yes I tried that too, but since I didn't have a card reader I had to use USB Mass Storage. And when I opened up the program it said this device is not supported.
So I had to use Windows formatter.
Not sure if you fixed it yet or not but I used backward to fix mine. On any generic Linux build cfdisk or fdisk it to partition it out to a fat32 lba partition . Will fix it right up.

Do NOT use MAGLDR 1.13 USB mass storage and dont listen to the person who told you to either.
1.13 has a very bad bug with mass storage driver and it corrupts sd/data. If you haven't got a card reader go back to 1.12 and use that mass storage or CWR mass storage as an alternative.
Once you have done this use Panasonic SD formatter on following settings...
FORMAT TYPE: FULL (ERASE ON)
SIZE ADJUSTMENT: ON

I had this problem too, surprisingly with the same ROM. Are you using Clockwork Recovery? If so go into Clockwork Recovery -> Advanced -> Partition SD Card -> Pick some sizes. After doing this my SD card worked fine.

Hi there...
I had this issue earlier this afternoon. What you can do it is format your SD Card via SDFormatter or format it using any digital camera.

i had the same problem a couple weeks ago
took me awhile ti figure it out but it was
the sd card wasnt seated properly
after messuing wioth it putting it in and taking it out
4 or 5 times it finally set right and worked
well i tried everything...the problem is it works in the magldr menu when i press usb mass strg but when i boot into recovery by pressing "AD recovery" and choose there mount usb storage it doesnt recognize the sd card... :/
Hi end1one,
had exactly the same problem now, I tried another SD card, same issue.
Format your card with SD Formatter from SD Association - this helps; then copy your ROM-ZIP and then insert card in the phone and power it up to CWM.
Good luck
sd mount problem recovery mode
i changed my sd card to samsung sd card probably class6 thats solved my problem.. previously i was trying to use a nokia nuron micro sd 4gb that did not work.
format the card in fat16.......................it resolved my problem

magldr doesnt recognize my SD card

Hello there,
I have a HD2 with NAND Android up and running over MAGLDR.
I've noticed that Ubuntu can now be booted over MAGLDR and I have decided to give it a shoot, since it's easy enough to try.
I have done everything that has to be done, but the problem is when trying to boot over MAGLDR I get this message:
"k: zimage sd kernel open failed"
I do have the zImage and the initrd.gz in the root, also the linux folder.
I've tried going to Services > Boot options > AD SD to choose from where to boot, but it jumps back to main menu.
That's the problem and I'm guessing that MAGLDR doesn't recognize my SD card.
Btw, it's a Kingston 8gb formatted to FAT32 Primary.
I hope you guys can help a fellow HD2 owner out!
Is your recognising SD Card otherwise, other than MAGLDR?
I have faced a similar problem where neither WM6.5 or WP7 or MAGLDR or CLK detect the SD Card however it is detected by bootloader.. See link below

Hello,
it recognizes the SD card everywhere except in MAGLDR.
In the mean time I found a exact same thread like my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315808
Basically it tells me that my SD card just doesn't work with MAGLDR.
So, has anyone found a solution that doesn't involve buying a new SD card?

Unfortunately that thread is right, your SD isn't compatible with MAGLDR. I have the same problem with my Kingston 16GB class 4, so it appears to be something to do with Kingston cards. You should have received a Sandisk with your phone, which is enough if you want to use SD builds only to try ROMs out, but there isn't much you can do to sort it out I'm afraid.

Alright,
well that's kinda sad, tho I still thank you both for the info.
I'm having a similar issue with my 32gb Sandisk class 4 card. It used to work fine, but then Magldr stopped seeing the file structure for sd boot. With trial and error I used gparted to recreate a ms-dos partition table. Just now magldr sees the file structure again.

Was it this? If not, then would you be able to explain how you did it, please? I have the same issue so it would help. To be fair, I haven't really tried to resolve it properly yet, so it's probably an obvious solution which I missed.
It doesn't work once again...
Tho what I did to make it work is using "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition":
1.Delete the partition
2.Create Partition: set Primary, set Fat32, set allocation table to 32K
3.Apply
That's basically it, I copied all my files excluding the linux ubuntu I wanted to try over MAGLDR...
Next day I tried to select AD SD dir and it OPENED it up, I was amazed!
I then booted android, selected to copy over usb, copied over Linux(around 3.2GB).
I rebooted back in to MAGLDR, tried to select AD SD dir and the same problem occurred... :silly:
I have no clue what else can be the problem, I tried then deleting the Linux, because it worked without it, and again same problem...
So basically it stopped working after I connected the sd card over usb while on android to copy linux... from that moment I couldn't select AD SD dir any more, just jumps back to main menu.
I would like suggestions if anyone knows what might happen?
Was I lucky to just make AD SD dir working? Or was it the allocation table I mentioned that I changed to 32K?
EDIT:
I've been thinking...
Since my goal is to have an android NAND and a Ubuntu over SD, is that all possible if I switch the bootloader from MAGLDR to CLK?
I've never tried CLK, but I'm sure it boots Android NAND's just fine, but what about Ubuntu over SD? Does it have problems recognizing SD on CLK?
