I tried out wp7 on my phone a couple days again, but now has reflashed to nand android. The problem is that my sd is only recognized as having 200mb worth of space when in fact it is a 16gb card. How can i fix this problem?

Ah, C'mon, please search the forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
grab the partition manager from there and repartition your sd card and you are back to bussines.
this will work
download Attach Files and this should work then right click on card and format again fat 32 quick plz give me thank this will work
Also, you can format your sd card from android itself. Go to settings, unmount your sd card and format it. Easiest way.
If you have a custom rom you can format the partitions from the recovery menu too
im really confused so i want to unmount it plug in the usb and use window formatter to reformat is?

I flashed wp7 but now I want to go back to android but my SD card only has 199mb free instead of my original 16gb. I'm guessing due to the wp7 partition. How can I reverse that and get it back to the original 16gb. I've tried formatting it and everything.
Help please
You need to delete the individual partitions of your sd card and make it one big card again
maybe some software will help:
EASEUS Partition Master (Home Edition)
MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition
Paragon Partition Manager Free Edition
There was a similar thread somewhere...anyway, the only way you can format your sd card back is to put it in a symbian device. It recognises it as broken an formats it. I personally confirm this with Nokia E71. Nokia n97 mini is also confirmed by other people. Since Symbian hasn't changed much in the past year i guess almost all devices from 2008 till now can format your sd card. Now you just need to find one.
You can do it using diskpart in vitsa / 7 just as effectively
Where do I find that disc part at on windows 7?
Google Panasonic sd formatter
Install and in options 'format volume size adjustment 'to on.
You dont need to do all that.
Just falsh an Android ROM onto your phone.
Once you have android up and running, go to Settings>Storage>Erase SD card.
This will un-mount your sd card and format it. Once its complete, it will see all the storage.
Keep in mind it will wipe whatever you have in your SD card.

I just did that and it didn't work for me. I had a 2GB card and it only formatted to 200MB. The card needs to be repartioned in order to regain the space that WP7 takes.
What I did was just stick the card in a USB card reader and used HPUSBDisk.exe on it. Worked out great, but I also unchecked the quick format option (not sure if that matters).
I have the same problem also.. If i understand correctly, we didn't put the SD card once we first boot the window 7. do these partitions method work? Thanks ahead

Hi,
So I have this weird issue.
My microSD sanDisk 8GB worked fine with my first NAND Rom (NexusHD2-Froyo_V1.9G_NAND).
Then I wanted to try a new Rom so I flashed to another Rom (DL.DesireZ.v3.4.final.nand). Before doing this I also fully formatted my SD to FAT32.
I had my microSD in the phone while flashing the second one. And after the boot, it didn't not recognize th SD at all, "preparing your SD" didn't even appear. So I try to put the microSD into PC, and it still recognizes it. I can moves files into it and it works. But the phone just the doesn't read the SD.
Then I tried my friends SD, I did a full format to FAT32. And guess what, it works.
So, the only conclusion I can come to is there's something wrong with my SD and the cause was the second rom.
P.S. I'm back to my first Rom now. And still, SD card unmounted or not present.
Sucks you lost your SD card but the rom or magldr did not damage your card you must of done something wrong to where your phone is not reading the card. You should wipe everything and try again chances are it will work like a charm.
Formatting
Hi, thanks for reply. I tried to reformat 3 times already with a same result.
My settings are:
FAT32 (FULL FORMAT)
Allocation: 64kb

Hi, thx for replying. Yes I tried that too, but since I didn't have a card reader I had to use USB Mass Storage. And when I opened up the program it said this device is not supported.
So I had to use Windows formatter.
Not sure if you fixed it yet or not but I used backward to fix mine. On any generic Linux build cfdisk or fdisk it to partition it out to a fat32 lba partition . Will fix it right up.

Do NOT use MAGLDR 1.13 USB mass storage and dont listen to the person who told you to either.
1.13 has a very bad bug with mass storage driver and it corrupts sd/data. If you haven't got a card reader go back to 1.12 and use that mass storage or CWR mass storage as an alternative.
Once you have done this use Panasonic SD formatter on following settings...
FORMAT TYPE: FULL (ERASE ON)
SIZE ADJUSTMENT: ON

I had this problem too, surprisingly with the same ROM. Are you using Clockwork Recovery? If so go into Clockwork Recovery -> Advanced -> Partition SD Card -> Pick some sizes. After doing this my SD card worked fine.

OK so having decent knowledge of how filesystems work, while trying to partition my SD with Minitool like in one of these tutorials on here, to make a second partition on it that's EXT3, minitool died and now it barely recognises the SD.
So - say I load magloader to USB MassStorage and then I can see it in Minitool as Unallocated but when I try to create the partition it stops for a while and then finishes really fast telling me it finished and afterwards the whole disk disappears from Minitool and magloader's stuck.
I tried HP Format tool, it's saying "Disk is write-protected".
I tried Harddisk Low Level Format Tool... errors, nothing more.
Currently trying Minitool Power Data Recovery... so far it says "Files Identified: 38" so that might be promising but...
If anyone knows how to get their SD unstuck ------ another detail... I can only mess with the SD card through MAGLDR, my HD2 didn't come with a SD adapter..
Please help me out
Best regards,
John
basicaly your problem is cos u trying to do it from
magldr. that's bad idea. u really need card reader for that !!!

Yeah, it's basically what Rikardo said, MAGLDR can corrupt files and isn't the best way to mess around with your SD card. Try install CWM and do it that way, much more stable.
You should really invest in a card reader though.
Install wm6.5 on your hd2 and format it from the phone. I know I stuck a windows phone 7 sd in my hd2 and it totally formatted it and got rid of the partition and all.
lol found a microsd adapter laying around !!! it's working thank you
u can also use any digital camera with sd slot and u can format it in the camera.tested working

My sd card is dead i cannot recover the 16 gb sd card unallocated space i cant format anymore my pc wont recognize it it would say unknown space
My HD2 is already an SD card killer.
It begins with the "there is an problem with your SD Card message" and it ends with lost of all data and an unformatable sd card.
My HD2 killed 3 SD Cards, 2 of them -> SDHC
I know my hd2 killed two 16 gb sd cards i cant recover i tried this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKl2dvzDa5U and its directions but i cant make it work it says that the driver is not supported

Hi,
I got a Galaxy Y from a friend and I was trying to MOD it. I discovered that the internal SD is not available... and no way to get it back. I tried to wipe data, hard reset, stock firmware upload with ODIN but no way to get the internal SD back. I tried ADB in order to try to push the ZIP files in a ROM folder but of course no permissions as it's not rooted.
So, no way to root my mobile without copying the files to the SD?
Thanks in advance
Joe
I dont know what you mean by internal sd - galaxy y 5360/6102 doesnt have internal sd - it uses a mico sd card to which you will find the slot if you take the cover off and look on the right hand side of the phone
place any files you want on the sd card either via card reader or usb cable
please note that questions should be asked in the question and answer section and NOT the general section

Ok,
I tried to use a Miscro SD on the GT-S5360 but there was no way to have it acccepted by the phone.
I formatted the Micro SD (Sandisk 2G) in many ways (full formatting) and it was mounted OK with all my other phones (Galaxy S, LG L5II, Huawei) but not for the Galaxy Y. I tried to format the card with the other Samsung too but it did not work..
I've read a lot around about the "blank SD" issue on many mobiles and tried some of the suggested tricks but with no luck.
So, assuming there is no way to have a MicroSD installed on the phone, I resume the original question:
- Is there any way to root the GT-S5630 without an SD card?
Thanks in advance
Joe
well unless your sd card slot is damaged there should be no reason why it shouldnt work
the sd card needs to be formatted in fat32
there best way to do it is to inset your sd card into your phone
goto phone settings
storage
unmount sd card (sd must be unmounted before you can format it)
format sd card
you can also format it via your pc using a card reader as long as its fat32 but its best to format it using the phone or format it again using the phone as sometimes cwm may have problems mounting the sd card if you use something else to format it
You might find universal root tools via google but the quickest most simple way is just to use a root zip file and flash it in recovery or cwm

Thanks Marcus, your replies are very quick .
I tried formatting the SD card FAT32 with different Allocation unit sizes, always full formatting, never quick.
The SD card is recognized as BLANK SD CARD (or unsupported filesystem) when inserted with the phone ON. The same occurs when I switch ON the phone with the SD card alredy inserted. The card is never mounted
The internal formatting functionality of the phone seems to be not working at all. The function FORMAT SD CARD is enabled but when launched it lasts just few seconds and nothing happens (the card is not mounted neither automatically nor by hand).
There could be some compatibility issues between the card and the phone and it could be worth to buy another SD to test the phone card reader again, but I'm not confident it will work.
Phone specs
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband: S5360XXMC2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXMI1

allocation unit size is I think 16 kilobytes but just select default - quick format is fine if the card is not damaged
you can try using mini tool to delete the partition on the sd card and create a new one and format it to fat32
you can then try reformatting it on your phone after

Guys help me please. I partition my sd card. few months ago. last night i formatted my SD card. after that. SD card can't mount. please help me. what to do ? also my computer can't read it please help me how to fix it . thanks in advanced.
first backup any data you have on your sd card
remove all partitions with minitool and create a new partition of fat32 and format it with minitool
next boot up your phone with the sd card in
goto
settings
storage
unmount sd card
erase/format sd card
now go into cwm - you sd card will now be mountable
for the 2nd partition create it in cwm
cant remember exactly where the option is from memory but its under something like partitions
just create a 2nd partition of 1024mb with 0 swap
you can then copy any backups back to sd card

If you plug your sdcard on linux-based using anything it should be /dev/sdc
Do a dd if=/dev/sdc of=/home/[your user]/Desktop/sdcard.img
After that install WinImage http://www.winimage.com/
Open the img with winimage it will tell you where to connect,
choose first primary fat32 partition open menu -> extract all with subdirectories, :good:
