PS3 Controller Mapping issue OnLive on ICS 4.0.4 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

PS3 Controller Mapping issue on ICS 4.0.4
Hey guys i decided to finally break away from samsungs stock rom and went for CyanogenMod 9 ics 4.0.4 and so far amazing!
i hate touchwiz and having just plain basic ics is the best! anyways i finally got onlive running with ps3 controller and so far the controller works cept for the face buttons cross, circle, square, tringle and messed around with eachother, i have read some users have been able to map them correcly but i have had no luck in being able to map them...
can they b mapped and has anyone any experience in doing so?
i have the controller paired up fine thru ps3 controller app and it runs fine in onlive cept for these strangle buttons being mixed around
hope to hear other users thoughts on the time with this
thnks in advance

3.1 and the PS3 Controller

So I've been toying around with my PS3 controller, and Transformer (plus dock) all morning and for the life of me I can't get it working correctly.
From every article I've read you should just be able to plug it in and go, but whatever was working for those guys clearly is missing from my own Transformer.
Anybody else been able to get it working?
I'm also wondering if my dock didn't update along with the 3.1 like it was supposed to. I remember updating the tablet, but there was never a separate dock update like there has been previously.
I'm running version EP101-0209
Is that the newest version?
I noticed that it only works with certain games natively or you would need to map the buttons through the game's OPTION (if available). The only native supported game I had found is called "Cordy" which you can download and play from market for free. It would also be a good start to test your controller though.
Anyway when they claimed that it supports PS3 controller, I think they meant via the USB port and not via BT. The only BT supported controller is the Wiimote but you need to download a new IME to run with it. Hope this helps, cheers !
PS3 controller with USB cable works perfectly in the dock. I tested it with SNESoid and cordy.
99% of market games will not work with any controller, they have to actually be coded for it to work. if the game has a key binding setting (like the emulators) then your good cause you can bind it and set everything up.
I also couldn't get it to work then realized you have to actually turn on the controller (long press PS logo) for it to work. doh

I should have mentioned I've been trying to get it working with SNESoid to no avail. It's not that it's entirely non-functioning rather it just doesn't read the buttons correctly.
Despite remapping it's very janky and, for example, the start button always goes to the home screen and triangle force closes the game.
Was there anything special you did to get it working with SNESoid or was it just plug in and go?
I know I've been having similar issues with PS3 controllers on 3.1. The controller would be detected, would get all the keys mapped, but I haven't found any emulator/game that reads any input from the right joystick. All other buttons and the right one work perfectly. Tried it on two Sony Six Axis controllers and a wireless logitech with a usb dongle. All 3 do the same things

don't think i did anything special. took a bit for it to finally recognise it but then i bound everything and i had no issues. no issues with start or triangle.
Been playing on mine with the PS3 controller and some roms. pretty damn awesome!
I connected my ps3 controller and its not working with anything. Not cordy or any of my emulators key remap working atall. What am I doing wrong here. All I get is 4 lights blinking

Gamepad to work on the A500? (Richardtrips and Thors Kernel works!)

I'm running stock 4.010.38 right now and I've tried XBOX 360 remotes and a Generic USB Gamepad but I can't get it to work.
ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to use it for Snes and N64oid emulator.
Cheers!
Edit: Please for those who are successful and unsuccessful with this, post your builds and your settings and gamepads! This way we can see whats what.
Edit: Progress (DEV)Richardtrips kernel 2.3 and Thors kernel they have generic USB gamepad support enabled! Awesome!
I'm running rooted stock and was able to get something from a final fantasy 14 gamepad. Gameboid couldn't detect some of the buttons, so it may be a limitation of the driver.

using a Saitek generic pad
Have a old USB saitek 6 button - plugged it in, works fine. Only can use 4/6 buttons but it seems to work fine, tested with a snes emulator, using 4.010.04 stock.
My wired 360 controller worked on 3.0. I haven't tried since updating to 3.1 since no games use it.

Guys dont forget to post your build number
I'm useing the new Virtuous XooM v1.1.2 HC 3.2 rom and my a500 works just fine with my ps3 controller hooked up through usb
Pretty sure all 3.1 firmwares sould work with xbox , some USB and ps3 controllers the main issue is that you can only use them in some apps like the emulators.
you can not controll eg the browsers with them. and dont think games like NFS work ether.
4.010.40, N64Droid, ps3 = yes, usb = yes
works great
...running 3.1 stock rooted, use the honeyvillian rom too. Logitech wired gamepad works great on nesoid emulator
4.010.11 com Gen 2. Wired 360 controller is working with cordy, snes9x, and n64oid. For cordy, no setup required. For the emulators, go to the button setup, select a button, then push a button on the controller
3.1 with the Picasso mod.
WiiMote works great, even the motion works.
Had to download an app from the market, WiiMote Something.
Not sure if the ubs remotes are the same, but I have to change my keyboard input, from stock to Game Pad, then map them in the games.
Unable to get the Xbox controller on mine to work.
It isn't an official MS one, its called "After Glow" which connects via a USB cord. When I plug it in the light flashes on the Xbox symbol but have not been able to remap it in Snes9x or any other emulator i have tried.
Build: Acer_A500_4.010.40_COM_GEN1
Tempted to pick up a Logitech Dual Action Game pad as I can get one cheap and heard that it does work, anyone else have experience with this model?
*edit* Borrowed my mates official Microsoft Xbox USB controller and it worked fine so looks like I was just having an issue with the generic brand, shouldn't be surprised really.

Just for info both Thors kernel and Richardtrips have USB Gamepad support.
It didnt work before but it works now, but still not with my xbox 360 controller.
Cheers!
Wiimote Controller app.
Works great.
EDIT
I couldn't get a Logitech Precision USB controller to work, unfortunately.
Using Taboonay wit thor kernel, mine did not work (ps3) connected with USB.
Did some googleing. found out i need a OTG cable.
Too bad wireless and normal USB are not working. (or maybe im doing something wrong)

Its working perfect for me im using a generic ps3 look-alike.
I think that generics should all work because it basically acts as an outside navigation tool like a mouse and you can move around the Honeycomb UI as soon as you plug it in the/USB port.
Will upload a picture of my remote later.
Is anyone else having issues with the Start buttons on controllers taking you to the home screen?
I ended up having to map start and select to L3 and R3.

Theoretically you should be able to navigate the entire UI using the gamepad so I dont think that is strange behaviour.
Nothing to worry about.

It is when it prevents me from being able to map buttons correctly.

[Q] Onlive controller

Does anyone have the onlive controller? If so please share your experience with it. I am considering getting it or a PS3 wireless controller.
Bump, as I'd also like to know if anyone uses this. From my limited testing, OnLive seems to work fantastically on the A500, as long as you have a speedy enough connection. I'd love to be able to use the controller for it, as well as for my emulators, GTA III, ShadowGun, you get the idea...
I do, using it on my evo 4g. Turns out you need android 3.1 or 4.0 to run the controller,so I'm running deck ics alpha1 in one of my boot manager slots. I don't think cyanogen 7.1 supports HID, from what I understand that's the problem, the master and slave are switched. They say connected but no response form button input. It works on 4.0 but it's a little laggy, still testing.

[Q] Mame4Droid controller

Does anyone have any experiance using the Mame4Droid app? I would like to use a BT controller rather than the on-screen controls (pounding on the screen to play Track & Field isn't fun), does anyone have suggestions? I've seen where a Wii controller can be used with a separate app, but i'm thinking that a Sixaxis PS3 controller would be better....any input would be appreciated!

I've been using the ps3 controller with the sixaxis app in usb mode fine, but can't seem to pair it via bluetooth. Also read somewhere that this gamestop controller works great with our nexus 7, so I'll prob give that a try:
http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/tablet-wireless-bluetooth-controller/97838
You have to be rooted before the SixAxis app to install the required BT Pairing drivers.
The SixAxis App itself offers a bonus in itself by offering button-to-screen button mappings. This allows for controller use in games otherwise unplayable with a controller. Specifically for this thread, MAME4DROID, probably wouldn't matter since all Emulators have button mapping.
I haven't tried the Gamestop controller, but I have wasted lots of money on alternative gamepad solutions that ultimately just sucks. Quality in a device is essential for old school gaming. When I press Up, I don't want to go Up-Right. When I press Jump, I want to jump immediately. The Gamestop Controller seems nice but I would always be cautious. The reviews say that the controller feels light, cheap, and the button presses lag.
The PS3/SixAxis App is your best solution for gaming. The Gamestop controller might be 2nd or 3rd compared to the OnLive Controller.

I just brought a Red Samurai bluetooth wireless controller from Game Stop. I believe it is their brand. It seems to be working great for mame4droid. My phone is the Lg Optimis VU gsm unlocked. Verizon has the same phone. It is called the Lg Intuition. I'm running 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich. I tried it on two games 1942 Capcom and The Raiden Project by Seibu Kaihatsu. Both games work flawlessly. My phone has not been rooted. Just pair with phone and map the keys. Enjoy

[Q] Emulators and Bluetooth Controllers

Does anyone know of any bluetooth controllers that work with our device? Phonejoy or anything? I'm on slim rom 4.2.2 build 2 with KTmanta kernel.Thanks.
Ps3 will work with the sixaxis app.

I use a $30 "controller for tablets" that I got from GameStop. It works perfect in my Game Boy Advance and SNES emulator. In the emulator itself go to controls and then assign the buttons however you want. The one problem with modern versions of Android is that when a bluetooth controller is connected, you can no longer use the on-screen keyboard because the controller is your input device. You have to disconnect the controller (or just disable bluetooth) if you want to type stuff again. No that big a deal since you only really have it on while playing a game anyway
Looks like it is on sale now for $20:
http://www.gamestop.com/android/accessories/tablet-wireless-bluetooth-controller/97838
Ps3 controller through sixaxis app is awesome and has more native game pad support from apps than any others I've seen... Some games even change all the buttons in game to reflect the ps3 controller... I like where it would normally say "tap here" and it will say "push X"
The bard's tale comes to mind
Plus it let's you set up touch emulation for games that don't have native game pad support
Thanks for the input guys! I tried the one from gamestop. It was red samurai brand. Didn't work. Phonejoy is updating their hardware and is no longer manufacturing those remotes. I'm gonna go with sixaxis. Thanks!!
