Which custom ICS ROM? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Hey guys!
Please tell me which custom ICS ROM should i use.
I used Stunner since the beginning of development, but at this days (with version 1.4.26.1) i feel that my Note is not as powerfull as it was (with version 4.5 or 5).
i get failures when i try to flash my own theme..
with stunner V5 i themed my note by myself, but today it wouldnt work, my created .zip ends with a bootloop.
and what i recognized to is that my Note has a worse batterylife... Using Stunner 5 i could use my device 2 or 3 days without loading the battery, but now with the actuall Stunner Version i lose 10% per hour. oO
-> i dont think that a app is the reason for this, i use the same "setup" all time..
Thanks a lot

CM9 is far and away my favourite.
Its fast and stable.
Give it a go and see for yourself!

Cm9 is safe than any other
The others rely on repack leaks which can potentially brick your device
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I am still running Stunner .19 and the battery life is incredible and I have had no problems, or very very few. I know it's based on leaked stuff, but I have had none of the problems that have been talked about. I think this whole "bricking" talk is being overhyped, that's just me.

Me too, its a great ROM but I'll probably jump ship to CM9 when it's matured a bit more

Were you happy with Stunner 5?
I will (re)flash my Note to this (older) Version & publish a reworked Theme...
Who would follow me?

I've used criskelo, midnote, stunner and CM9
CM9 is by far the most stable imo. I had small annoying problems with the other 3 all the time. With CM9 everything runs perfectly smooth. No FC, no nothing.
And no risk, no matter how small, of bricking your phone.

I am using Cyanofree and enjoying it. I might jump to CM9 after the next build.

After getting hard bricked by last Stunner, the only ICS that I will try is CM9 or just wait for proper ICS from Samsung.
Edit: Just wanted to point out this my earlier comment wasn't against Stunner or Neo but I was just pointing out the dangers of these leaked kernels. I have used Neo's ROMs since Vibrant days so I know that he is not a newbie developer and it wasn't completely his fault that i have a $500+ paper weight.

+1 to this
I was fortunate in that my phone wasn't bricked whilst using stunner (I really like Stunner btw).
Even though there is no firm data as to numbers of hard bricked devices, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence and technical explanations as to why the leaked kernels are dangerous. Surely it's not worth the risk (unless you're loaded)?

I think some people spend more time obsessing over flashing new operating systems on their devices than actually using the devices. It's like buying a toilet just to flush it all day long. Have a seat and enjoy yourself!

I can relate. If I had the money, I'd do the same. I own the same devices as pvtjoker and since reasonably stable releases of CM7 came out, I've flashed the tab and epic twice. I had to try MIUI... No good on the tab, but sweet on the Epic. So I have MIUI on my Epic and CM7 Kang on my Galaxy Tab. Who needs the same old stuff on two already similar devices?

Be thankful it hasn't slipped into kernel hacking....
software modding is like the darkside, there's always a step to something worse....
neutrino 2.2 coming very soon...almost broke 8000 on cf-bench with 2.1p ...but seriously...flashing roms IS like an addiction!!!!
---------- Post added at 01:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:58 PM ----------
getting ready to flash neutrino 2.2 RIGHT NOW...gonna prolly stick with clemsys 1.5 kernel...for now
Seriously, I will come clean.
I used to be into drugs a long time ago.. (well, a few years back). anyways.. I
almost lost my family, and almost went homeless.... I was truly rock bottom!!
Anyways, I ended up forcing myself to go to rehab, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
Well, with that said, I have been clean ever since. However, during that time I started looking for things to take my free time up, and stumbled across Android. Ever since, I have been addicted to this.... ROM Flashing, Bricking, Customizing... you name it. Not sure if it's a mental thing ... Like I am making up for another lost addiction or what? My wife talks to me about it all the time, but I know.. she is just being a woman, and gets jealous of anything that takes attention away from her. cause in the end, she will tell me "well at least it's better then drugs", and smiles.
Anyways, Truthfully, this is the first and only time I have came clean about it.
LOL! No this is a SERIOUS post.
Don't run from your addiction! Embrace it.. Thus is the joy of open source!!
i can relate...android hacking is one of my many fillers...exercise tops the list when the weather is fair...neutrino 2.2 is up and running folks
thank you all for your support. i am now 38 minutes sober after flashing neutrino 2.2 im glad i have all of you to help me along my righteous path

Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
cwm touch is out its pretty nifty
well, to overcome the addiction, you have to first find out WHY you are so addicted to flashing roms
for me, it's because it's probably because each different rom has it's own unique feature which i find fascinating, and also i'm always looking for the fastest and smoothest. i thought i came pretty close with neutrino, but then i discovered the 2d-enabled joker, and it's been exactly what i was looking for (finally), it might be enough for me to overcome my rom addiction ):
Just yesterday I went through 3 ROMS.
I'd say that qualifies as addiction!
And here I am on the forum looking for something new!! 6:41 am!

Since most of you seem to be running Neutrino, what's the score you guys are getting in quadrant standard ? I'll be flashing it tomorrow but I was just wondering before I do it. I get 3650 with cm7 weekly 6 (faux123's enhanced stock kernel 1Ghz). I wonder if you get above 4k with Neutrino.
i believe my highest score on quadrant was 4700-ish

Custom ICS race

Seems that all development (in public) is cancelled for this weekend LOL
Anyone want to comment when we expect to see customised ROMs start to show up?
I'm guessing most of the cheff's are already racing to be the first with a stable and usable ROM. No first prize for a release for bugs LOL
I'm finding ICS has nice features. But I really miss JKays customisations and Kalagas' theme.

The chinese is the better option. But
What can be acieved.
Deodex yes. But will themers waste time on a release which can be superceeded quickly.
Kernels. No sources out yet so no benefit there as franco has pointed out.
Slim rom. This can be done by users already.
So whats there to gain at the moment. Not to mention as chas found out the hard way it can be a ***** to restore a nandroid.
It took me ages to get my system back in cwm. After the first version i cooked got me stuck at the boot screen. But i faced the same restore issue after using the repack
I can understand everyone wants new and wants it now. But it does not offer much more than gb at the mo. Except grief.

Thats your answer right there.
I already have a CWM flashable .zip of the Chinese\chainfires repack leak. It has all the samsung and touchwiz crap taken out of it, the treb launcher and google apps slipped in. I have also replaced the language files with english as default.
Anyone with half a brain can do the above just use the XDA search button. There are no real custom roms for the note (apart from CM9) the rest you see are all themed\tweaked originals.
As it stands the sources are not that great and very dirty.
There is only one dev you should be waiting on and thats Sebastian Mauer mad respect to him.
What I'd like to see the most is for someone to make a 240DPI ICS Rom.
With 240 DPI as default look.
That would be amazing.
By this, I mean that everything should be fully compatible in 240 dpi, no graphical glitches and all that ****.
I can't seem to achieve this on my own sadly. There will always be one graphical glitch that I would be annoyed to look at.
Agreed 100 percent.
And i only have quater of a brain lol

Solid info.
But I thought its about the kernel drivers? Or will the situation change after the official realease? They should provide sources for the kernel, right? (Except for the closed drivers of course)
I think a debloated release of the chinese rom with gapps and some goodies could be of some interest though (might make me try it if it saves a lot of hassle). But atm its all very temporary.
Someone (netchip I think) is in the middle of doing up a ASOP + Chinese release.
I think that would have quite a bit of potential...

Bell Atrix Update to ICS Looks Bleak

http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/03/29/o...tting-upgraded-to-os-4-0-including-timelines/
Unless this is an incomplete list, it looks very bleak for the Atrix to receive ICS for Bell users. Just thought I would throw this out there (I know it has been discussed, but this literally just was posted on Mobile Syrup).

You'll have a fully working virtually bug free ICS Rom Soon.
Doesn't really help those of us(namely me), who don't feel confident enough to install a custom rom, without bricking their phone

He isn't rubbing anything in. When I bought my Atrix, I vowed not to do any modding to it in the slightest. Then AT&T pushed updates to their Atrix, yet Bell decided to wait for months on end before pushing the same updates. It became rather annoying having to wait for the updates. Plus, add in the fact that fully-functioning Gingerbread was out months before it would be released on Bell officially, I decided to give modding a shot, and I haven't looked back. Unlocking your phone and flashing custom ROMs just increases the life of your phone, in that you know developers of ROMs (who are not paid by a company to do what they do) will push out stock and custom versions of new Android operating systems, while carriers like Bell will EOL this phone and others and you may not even see ICS come out.

motorola is waiting for hell to freeze itself so we get ICS and also bell will then take another eternity to release it if they ever do, a bunch of devs are working hard to get ICS working in the meantime,
if not then you should try the neutrino ROM its awesome, really fast and smooth

yeah but really if you follow the "noob" guide you should be able unlock the bootloader and get it going. if you follow it and double check your steps it shouldn't be too hard.
the atrix is old now, we've (as a community) gotten it to the point where most operations are one click or little user input. and once you root/unlock/mod the thing there are so many amazing ways to keep you falling back in love with the device. I was so ready to dump it and just use my skyrocket, but I ended up getting rid of the skyrocket and getting the lapdock and using the atrix full time.
I'm going to get the Galaxy Note, but the atrix won't be too far away because it can just do so much
I just installed CM9 on my atrix. It runs super smooth and fast. I love it. My phone finally feels smart

You can put pretty much any original Atrix-rom on the Bell. I have a Bell Atrix and have had both the Orange ROM for france, Telstra rom for Australia and now the original Motorola ROM for Nordic countries (45.31.1.MB860.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU) which is great, no bloatware and my native language. I've never rooted or unlocked bootloader or anything, just a SIM-unlock. So I'm sure u'll be able to get ICS on it when it is released!

international version had an ICS leak ages ago. sammobile had the i9220 leak and then made an n7000 version of it, this was like a month or so ago?
and whilst the att version is functional, its not without bugs. its also missing the much anticipated premium suite.
While technically he is right there has been no leak for the n7000 just the i9220. Doesn't matter really because no phone comes close to this bad boy even without ICS..

ahaha the day after i sold my samsung infuse gb was release for it
Simple answer.
ICS on N7000 should be easier for them.
AT&T Note: Had to be modified for faster internet access so users can hit their cap faster.
China's i9220 and Intl N7000 should be about the same thing and easier todo.
And leak are just leaks, who knows how someone got access to that? Maybe we already have a fully perfect ROM for N7000 and Samsung still working out to provide roms for AT&T so ICS update can be a global thing.
Could care less
What does ICS bring to the table, other than hardware acceleration,
probably some newer apps.
The current version of GB 2.3.6 runs on my note like greased lightning.
You know good & well when ICS is released for any device, it's going to have
some of the same growing pains that GB did when it was released.
Since my Note is my business connection device, I think I'll hold off on jumping
onto the ICS bandwagon, until I know for sure it's ROCK SOLID stable.
I don't have time dealing with bugs. Thanks to you bleeding heart types though.
If it wasn't for you, we'd never be anywhere, but, I can't afford to have the
device lock up, slow down, crash etc.
