I found these two sites for unbricking. i didn't even know you could do this! is this legit?
http://eeepadhacks.net/transformer-hacks/how-to-unrootunbrick-eeepad-transformer/
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-unbrick-asus-eee-pad-transformer-honeycomb-tablet/
Also, are there any good tutorials on how to root, as well as overclock, the transformer?
Those two method work but it all depends on your TF.
-The first method will depend on if you can get into CWM recovery or not
but the firmware they posted is pretty old.
-NVFlash method only work on SBK v1 TF (Serial B60 or previous plus some B70)
To root use ViperMod (unless your on the latest .21 firmware from Asus)
To OC you'll need to flash an OC capable kernel.
I suggest this post, get to know your TF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230
ok; because I have the latest version of ICS for my transformer
also, is there any way to unbrick?
The only way to unbrick that i have found was via nvflash. And that means that your tablet has to be SBK v1. (As stated before) I have used the method below so i know that will work. But my advice is to read everything carefully and throughly. I have found that there is never enough researching you can do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524302
Also this can downgrade your ICS so that it can be rooted.
I have a B90.
would this work?: http://www.androidauthority.com/eee-pad-transformer-prime-one-click-root-52934/ ? It seems pretty easy.
is there a unbrick yet for other devices than sbk v1?

ViperMod work for rooting (except 9.2.1.21). If you're on 9.2.1.21 you can use Wolf's method 3 to push the recovery blob and use cwm to
flash the su + superuser package.
NVFlash does not work on SBK v2 at this time.
what do you mean by 9.2.1.21? what version is this for?

That's your firmware. Look in System settings>About tablet for your firmware version
oh; on my tablet, they call it the build number. i have 9.2.1.21
so I tried running sbkcheck to determine my tablet type. When I try to run the sbk checker,it says that there is no application available to open in. i am running ubuntu.
You have a B9O, is SBK v2.

but that isn't 100% accurate, is it? I thought you couldn't go on that alone? would you still root it then, if you can't unbrick it?

Your personal choice if you want to take a risk or not. There have been plenty of peoples who have rooted and/or run custom ROM on their sbk v2 TF.

It won't run on 3.2. Be sure your running anything older than 3.2.
What have you done so far exactly?

Gingerbreak only worked on HC 3.01
Iconia Root for 3.1
And downgrade first before rooting if you're on HC 3.2

You need your serial number from your USB and will have to flash it. That is currently the only to root 3.2x.
Hope this helps,

If you've downgraded to the unstable version, that's where you want to be, root it, install Acer recovery, which you will install CWM with, then install a "pre-rooted" 3.2 or custom 3.2 ROM.

Just flash it to 3.2.1 and be done with it, why downgrade and waste your time? The instructions are in the readme.pdf I sent you.

I think if you just read through the forum you'll find your answer. If after you read those and need some help, we'll help. Most of what you need is posted.
If you can't read up then PLEASE for the love of everything, DON'T flash your tab... It gets soooooo annoying reading the threads created saying that someones tab is "bricked" and they can't fix....
So easy a thing to do when you are prepared, hell for everyone when you aren't...
I just got my eee pad back from rma. It appears to be a different device. Where the serial number should be is covered with a white sticker was a serial number starting with B80. Do you think it would be safe to root with razorclaw or otherwise?
Also would it be possible to install a rom like revolver?
And if i did root and install a rom could a bring it back to normal if I need to rma?
Thanks for the help

RazorClaw has nothing to do with build number.
You have to be on .19 firmware for RC to work.
You could also try NachoRoot which work with all firmware up to .21

Yes i've done quite a bit of research and I noticed I'd need to downgrade to .13 then upgrade to .19 with a 101g firmware which might stop you from getting some market apps. I'm alittle lost of what to do after that. If I used nacho root and wanted to install revolver. I'd think I need to install clockwork then add a rom. Is that correct? Does a guide exist on this?
Thanks

Yes try with NachoRoot first. Once you have achieved root, use RecoveryInstaller
to install CWM recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
After that download and put the revolver ROM file on your external sd card.
Use CWM recovery to flash the ROM.

Thanks for all the help I'm feeling alittle less nervous about doing this. Could I just ask 3 more quick questions. Is overclocking the cpu (i'm not sure how everyone does it) dangerous in a sense that it could damage it? Also when ICS will I be able to update my revolver when it is released by the revolver dev? And finally if I do decide to go through with this can I remove any traces if I need to send it in for a non-rooting related issue?
Thanks

no you should be fine as long as you dont go to high i seen other forum members push there tf101 s to 1.5ghz, and thats about as far as i would go my self.
i don't know about revolver as i have not messed with roms/recovery/kernels yet but i would think that the dev would work on a ics release.
yes you can heres a link to an unrooting guide Easy [UNROOT] it show how to install a stock rom and stock recovery.
I ordered my transformer yesterday, it will arrive in 2 days.
I have a question :
1) If I plan to use a custom rom (prime or revolver), do I need to root it first or just install the rom zip?
1a) stock device comes with recovery console, but clock work mod is a modified version with extra features?
1b) from what I understand, stock console accepts only signed zips, while clockworkmod accepts unsigned zips?
2) If I root the stock original rom, will it continue to receive updates? Will root survive them?
I want to have a working tablet ready for ics, with root as a must, I need to backup and restore my apps and exchange them with my Android-ed HTC HD2.

1a: yes
1b:i don't know if the stock only accepts signed zips but clockwork will accept un signed.
1: i'm pretty sure its stock rom->rooted stock rom->clockwork recovery->custom rom
2: a rooted stock rom will continue getting updates but it might break root, i was told to install OTA root keeper to back up and protect my root.

Stock B50 here, I ICS'd successfully and it preserved everything. It will take a long time so keep it on the charger, when it's done you'll get a beep and the lock screen. It was really worth the wait, gps locked on in less than 10 sec, 9/9 within 26 feet. Now I'll have to decide if I really want to root. Thanks for the info, will save me time.
Not a complete scrub at this but for some reason I can't get the ADB drivers to load up on my Win7 x64 machine, followed driver install instructions for ViperMod, etc, etc...so if someone can hit me in the head with a shovel that'd be great...thx...

- Push OTA ICS update
- Run Root checker basic (fails)
- Run OTA Rootkeeper

All you need to do now is install CWM recovery and flash whatever ROM you like.
Search for RecoveryInstaller app in theme and app section
B60 with SBK1 here. I've only used this tool, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104 to root my TF, HC and ICS.
I don't know what's going on but NON of these methods have worked. I also noticed that the Asus App Backup doesn't work either. No matter what app I try to do it the backup fails. I'm sure that has something to do with it. For some reason I do have CW 3.1.0.1 as my recovery What's even more odd is whenever I boot up, it goes right to CW. The only way I can boot into Android is if I boot into the bootloader and load Android from there.

Just got the lenovo thinkpad and upgraded to ICS. The unit works better than I expected it to, however there is way to much junk included with the stock rom.
1. Is there a root for ICS?
2. Is there a recovery for ICS?
3. Are there any roms or rom development for ICS? I'm really only looking for a clean rom, nothing fancy (although i'd be interested in that as well)
4. Has the kernel been modified and overclocked?
I've been on xda for years now, however it seems like either there is little development for it, or that Lenovo pretty stopped all modifications to it.
