ICS root/recovery/clean rom - Thinkpad Tablet General

Just got the lenovo thinkpad and upgraded to ICS. The unit works better than I expected it to, however there is way to much junk included with the stock rom.
1. Is there a root for ICS?
2. Is there a recovery for ICS?
3. Are there any roms or rom development for ICS? I'm really only looking for a clean rom, nothing fancy (although i'd be interested in that as well)
4. Has the kernel been modified and overclocked?
I've been on xda for years now, however it seems like either there is little development for it, or that Lenovo pretty stopped all modifications to it.

First mistake. Now you are unable to root it.
You can check if your tablet has open bootloader.
In this case you would be able to use nvflash.

I've got a stock unrooted ROW TPT and nvflash works for me! No 0x4 error. How would I go about rooting with nvflash?
Do I just flash the rooted 0089/OTA 2.5 stock image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1536693 then proceed from there?

I to would like to know this.

You can now root ICS ROW only.

Iconia A500 3.2 update - Bee with Exclamation sign above.
Im running the update and when the device reboots and as it progresses a honeycomb bee with a triangular sign with an Exclamation mark in it appears...
The installation does not progress any further and i have no idea what to do. I can reset my system but it says update fails and continues on 3.1.
Any ideas/thought/suggestions?

If you care about root and having CWM installed I would not update to stock 3.2 using OTA. Just grab one of the 3.2 updates in the development thread so you can retain root. But if just want plain stock 3.2 and you have CWM installed, you need to revert back to the stock recovery first otherwise it will fail.

Same problem wihout root. Any suggestions what the problem could be?
im thinking if it's because you have a rooted device? I had the same thing. But do not ever update to 3.2 OTA. I would recommend a stock rooted 3.2 in the Development thread. Easy flash. Flying rom.

Gingerbreak only worked on HC 3.01
Iconia Root for 3.1
And downgrade first before rooting if you're on HC 3.2

If you've downgraded to the unstable version, that's where you want to be, root it, install Acer recovery, which you will install CWM with, then install a "pre-rooted" 3.2 or custom 3.2 ROM.

that's correct. More specifically, the unlocking will do that, rooting itself won't, but to my knowledge, there is no way to root the xoom without unlocking first. (read more on this below)

I am not aware of any way to do that. Regardless of that, you shouldn't, it would be much better to just install the apps from market after upgrading from HC to ICS.

no. Unlocking will unlock the bootloader, so that you can flash stuff using fastboot-commands (and you will use that to flash a custom recovery). Rooting will root your device, thus giving you "administrator privileges" and, if you use the "universial xoom root", conserve your recovery from being overwritten by the stock rom. If you want to install another rom, you'll have to do so manually (but installing a new rom is no big deal)
/****** EDIT ******
regarding root without unlock: in this thread the op states, that the method mentioned there will also work on your device (as a matter of fact any Motorola device with froyo or honeycomb)

As far as I can see, this method will not unlock the bootloader.
I have not tried it and I won't, as I'd have to flash a stock rom and lock my xoom again to see if it works, but if you're going to try it, please keep us posted here and/ore in the thread I mentioned

Assuming that you acutally have a MZ601 and not a MZ691 (never heard of that one before), yes, you really need to unlock, install cwm, backup, then root. Note, however, that this backup will only back up your current rom, it will NOT backup your data (as unlocking will delete your data and you must unlock your device to be able to install cwm). None of these steps will install another rom, thus you'll still be at 3.2.

Well, as a matter of fact, there are not so many roms for the MZ601. The one I use is the (usually most current) Team EOS Nightly for MZ601. If you don't want to go with nightlies, just go with the stable Team EOS 1.0.0. However, I don't see any disadvantages at all in using nightlies. Bear in mind that you do not HAVE to update on a daily basis Except from the one nighly that introduced cornerstone, they are just as stable as the 1.0.0.

That is a root method developed by solarnz link to thread. This method should work on every xoom that can be bootloader-unlocked. (Thats all of them, except family edition and Xoom2/Xyboard)

depends... If you are switching between totally different roms you should wipe your /data-partition, thus you'd loose your apps. If you upgrade from one version of a rom to another version of that same rom you should be fine without wiping /data, so you'll keep all your apps.

well, maybe it's possible to get the original .apk-files from somewhere, but for all those apps you got from the android market that's just plain useless. You may, however, be able to backup your apps and data using titanium backup once your xoom is rooted.
AchillesGr said:

your xooms processor has a so-called deep-sleep feature that reduces power consumption to almost zero when the cpu is not used. On my xoom, and apparently also on others, this feature does not work on current EOS roms (I ain't even sure if it ever did) when the xoom is connected to a wifi network. On 3G-Networks it goes into deep-sleep as it should. Solarnz has confirmed that he thinks that this is a wifi-issue which he will address in the (hopefully not so distant) future.

It's a system that lets you open more than one app at once. There is one build of the Team EOS roms where it is included, you can try that if you like. But it screwed a lot of things up and made the system somewhat unstable, so it was removed in the next build. here is a website where you can have a look at what cornerstone looks like.
ok,
i will try to root today and then i will try to flash the eos everest ics.

Not sure why you installed ICS. That just compounds the issue.
You can take a look at this thread, and try NVFlash. This guy had a similar issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579490
Considering you were able to install ICS, I would like to ask if you did this from CWM recovery? My guess, is there is a ton of corrupted data in the partitions. This would explain things a little. If you can get it back to HC, then you can run a dmesgview and get your UID number. Then you should be able to run TimmyDeans tool in the General thread (I believe).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539
My guess, is that your EC Pwr control got messed up along with corrupted data. I would advise staying away from the ICS Beta leaks, and just get a good HC up and running.

[Q] un-bricking/overclocking

I found these two sites for unbricking. i didn't even know you could do this! is this legit?
http://eeepadhacks.net/transformer-hacks/how-to-unrootunbrick-eeepad-transformer/
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-unbrick-asus-eee-pad-transformer-honeycomb-tablet/
Also, are there any good tutorials on how to root, as well as overclock, the transformer?
Those two method work but it all depends on your TF.
-The first method will depend on if you can get into CWM recovery or not
but the firmware they posted is pretty old.
-NVFlash method only work on SBK v1 TF (Serial B60 or previous plus some B70)
To root use ViperMod (unless your on the latest .21 firmware from Asus)
To OC you'll need to flash an OC capable kernel.
I suggest this post, get to know your TF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230
ok; because I have the latest version of ICS for my transformer
also, is there any way to unbrick?
The only way to unbrick that i have found was via nvflash. And that means that your tablet has to be SBK v1. (As stated before) I have used the method below so i know that will work. But my advice is to read everything carefully and throughly. I have found that there is never enough researching you can do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524302
Also this can downgrade your ICS so that it can be rooted.
I have a B90.
would this work?: http://www.androidauthority.com/eee-pad-transformer-prime-one-click-root-52934/ ? It seems pretty easy.
is there a unbrick yet for other devices than sbk v1?

ViperMod work for rooting (except 9.2.1.21). If you're on 9.2.1.21 you can use Wolf's method 3 to push the recovery blob and use cwm to

NVFlash does not work on SBK v2 at this time.
