anyone here have any idea how to wake the device using volume button?
i tried editing all file within the /system/usr/keylayout folder but to no avail.
this should've work but it doesn't seem so.
If you look in the playstore you can find an app called smartcove or something like that. It wakes your device up when you take the cover off. Definitely this is not what you want but it's still an option

Hey Forum,
New to the smartphone world, finally replaced my old razr with a droid pro. Got it rooted, backed it up via ti pro, silenced droid startup sound, froze apps and changed side button to be another power key.
Now I would like to remove the slide lock without using no lock, so only the top and side key will unlock, not the whole keyboard. Would also like to reprogram the search key and remove the vibration from the home keys.
Could someone clue me in on how to do this or where to find a link? So far searches haven't come up with anything dro-pro specific for key reprogramming. I'm new to phone hacking but good at understanding code, just need a point in the right direction.
Thanks.

How did you silence the startup sound?
Use Root explorer:
System=>media
Rename droid.ogg to droid.old

I keep my Desire Z on when it's in the dock, displaying a flip-clock app.
Unfortunately, when it's on and powered, it insists on keeping the capacitive button lights on.
Is there any way of disabling those lights?
Thanks!
If you are using CyanogenMod you can adjust the settings for auto back light and there are controls for the buttons also. You can set them to be off all but when it is the darkest. That's what I do.

Hm, I am using CM 7, but I can't find the settings for the buttons. Can you be more specific? Thanks.
CyangoneMod Settings/Display/Automatic backlight...

Yup, I've got that, but no specific button setting. Sorry.
Use custom>edit other levels...

THAT's where it was! Thanks so much - exactly what I needed.
Alternatively you can use an awesome app called Screen Filter (available at the market)
It's not an automatic solution but when I used CM7 I mapped it to long pressing search which made it very useful.
My power button is 80% corrupted and it is going to be 100% corrupted so can I fix it now before it be further corrupted or must I change it.(Is there another phone's power button similar to IDEOS X5's)
Thanks.
From now on you can use screen of and lock from play store. By that you can use your search button to lock screen.

Yeah, I'm using lock widget in the status bar but some times you need to use the button like turn on the phone or can't access your rom so if there is another phone's button similar to ours tell me.
Thanks anyway.
I think my title explains everything. I removed the navbar on the bottom and with Button Savior everything is running perfectly but I am worried when Button Savior crashes I will need a backup to get to my home screen. What I am looking for is when I push+hold the power I would like a extra option to go home.
Is this possible? Is there already an app that does this?
Bump.
Maybe tasker can do something? Not sure..

How do I disable the back and option button in Samsung Galaxy S4 on unrooted device?
I also realize that by doing this, the soft button (back, option and home) will resurface on the screen that will make the screen no longer a 4.99".
But this back button has been bothering me for a while now, especially when showing some stuff on my phone to friends, where I or others 'accidentally' touch it and change the screens to other things that i might not want to share with them.
Thanks.
As far I know you can't do that, be careful with management of your phone,I don't have problem with that keys

You need to root for sure- and probably modify some files...
Remember it IS possible should be... Though depends even on what ROM you use.
On unrooted device answer definetly one - you can NOT.
Impossible on an unrooted device so you might have to flash cf root in odin first.
I've done it on an S2 & S3 before so no reason why it wouldn't work on the S4 as well.
To enable the on-screen navigation buttons:
Use a file explorer (like Root Explorer) to navigate to
/system/build.prop
and open the file with a text editor. Add the line
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
at the end of the file. Save and close. Reboot. Done.

If you easily accidentally touch the soft button then what can prevent you to not accidentally touch the onscreen button?

My thoughts exactly. It will make the problem 10 times worse I'm sure.
