Current rooted 2.2 how to get 2.3.3 with root - EVO Shift 4G General

I just had a shift 2.3.3 and spent a day or so bringing it back to 2.2 with root and the clockwork boot manager.
But how do i get a 2.3.3 or newer ota or as close to factory rom as possible to work with root?
I saw a rom called synergy which looks similar.

Sparksco has a rooted ota ROM in ROM manager 2.3.4
mik 2.1 executive edition

If your going for the stock look NewSENSE is where its at, and thats the actual rom im running on my speedy now
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2

If you want the newest OTA 2.3.4 just rooted. Then Sparksco has the newest Rom in Rom Manager, as turkbot stated. Although if you go that route you will not have WiFi / USB Tether. You will just be on the Newest OTA 2.3.4 and Rooted. If you want a Rom that's based off the newest OTA but very close to Stock. Then newSense is what you want. Very close to Stock with extras, and very reliable. MikShifted G , not Stock. Many extras, and very reliable.

Thank you guys.

What if you can't get the newest rooted OTA through Rom Manager...

Latest android-wifi-tether working on Stock 2.2 kernel

Just thought i'd pass along the latest experimental version(wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre7.apk) of android-wifi-tether now works with the stock 2.2 kernel. Specifically, I am running fresh 3.1.0.1.
Downloadable at http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Should add that -pre7 does not work on netanarchy 3.7.7. Although -pre6 does.

Posting this on my laptop, wireless-tethered to my Evo using 2.0.5-pre7 with stock 2.2 kernel (Stock.32Kernel) and Fresh 3.1.0.1.

I'm going to have to check this out. Have they found a way to root if people have already done the OTA 2.2 update?

Not yet. If you already have root, however, there are a lot of ROM options to choose from in the Developer's forum, including a stock 2.2 with updated radio and wimax.
Odd
Anyone else noticing it drops the connection to the device after about 15min?

[Q] Can you recieve OTA updates after rooting?

RoyalGinger is as close to stock as you'll get, although any gingerbread roms will have some bugs since they're using dumps and ports for their base rom so once the update comes out we'll have the kernels and correct drivers etc. Making for a now perfect Rom hope I helped

It will definitely be out before the end of June, so if you can wait that long and you're wary of rooting, it should be here within 9 weeks.

Because there is still not a method to gain root access on 2.3
The good thing is you can root your phone.
Unrevoked has a linux tarball to root your phone http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
Once rooted, you can flash unrevoked forever to have permanent S=OFF ( and it's reversible if required) You will flash this from the custom recovery that you just installed.
Then, go get ROManager so if you want, you can use Amon_RA recovery (if you want)
what is the difference between clockwork recovery and amon_ra recovery any benifits

A lot of people complain about Rom manger and cwm. Amon ra seems to work well with less problems. And roms that depends on what you like sense or asop. Newest sense is synergy(that is a team effort by the top devs) with sense 2.1 with some 3.0 mixed in( stock kernel so far on that) and as for asop I hear cm7 or kings(but that depends on personal taste).

VaelPak. 3.2 if you want FroYo, 4.0/AOSP if you want AOSP. Link in my sig.
So for the newest OTA do the old methods still work? I assumed Unrevoked didn't and didn't see any threads.
I guess it doesn't. Oh well. No root for co-worker.

ROOTED Gingerbread EVO on EBAY

Most likely a rooted 2.2 evo running a rooted stock 2.3 gingerbread rom; this has to be the case as there is no root for gingerbread.
Obviously.

what is a 2.2 rooted gingerbread rom? That doesnt even make sense.
There is absolutely root for stock gingerbread, just not if you accepted the OTA.
This guy probably just updated the phone to a pre-rooted Sprint EVO gingerbread rom obtained from right here on XDA.

Maybe so, but it got more attention than it should have, so it had to be fixed.
Though on the point, its people like him that scam everyone into buying something its not, then let someone new to xda buy it then start a thread of 'I HAVE S-OFF GINGERBREAD ROOT!'
Just calling it now.

I am wondering if there is root for the latest OTA

Its a stock base, all apks and jars in the rom are from the 2.3.4 ota update... Added mods yes, but when you flash it, with the exception of the rosie image, it looks and acts stock. No need to be a "hater", I don't and won't "hate" on anyone's work, and don't find the need to... Ever...

Haha!! I don't hate newSENSE man and when I have time I'll give it a flash..I haven't even had time to work on my own projects to flash..There's stock rooted and then there's custom roms, don't want noobs to get confused..
Anyways back to topic..
wait so is the file in that post with the method the stock ota? or is it a modified ota.
Sparksco has a "bone" stock rom on rom manager and newSENSE is very close to stock but modded beyond belief... If you want "stock", check rom manager...

You could always pm indirect about it. Most people in the shift community have already rooted phones from previous updates like the original froyo that came stock on the shift and have never had to use that method...I'm one of those people
