Hey guys, has anybody developed a ROM that is completely geared towards music, or does it even exist? I listen to music almost every hour of the day and I love music more than anything, but I was wondering if there was such thing as a ROM that was geared towards music. Meaning, it has a really great music app, and it is all completely integrated within the ROM, like how Cyanogenmod has DSP manager and the volume buttons to change the song, or how you can change the song in the notification menu on ICS ROMs. So basically, are there any ROMs that have a TON of these music related tweaks and has a really good as well as smooth music app?
well with Beats now available for most UI instead of just for Sense, people will have their different opinions. no, there isnt a specific "music rom". but thats where music widgets and themes come in. I listen to a lot of music as well, and my current setup is CyanogenMod 7.2 using PlayerPro/DSP pack (not DSPManager, the one included with the ROM), and no Beats(never really liked it). IMO its one of the best music players, you can tweak the EQ levels to your likings, and has a useful swipe gesture. been using it for months, well worth the purchase
The market has a few apps that may help tweak your sound settings.. Beats is more of a money making thing to advertise the beats headphones.. Nothing to fancy..

Lol...I added beats to the arhd 3.0 port. Now I must say this because I am a music junkie and not because its my port but try Endymion 3.4. It's has beats included and its ok but when you add the beats zip it improves it and its crystal clear. I suggest downloading the equalizer app too. That way you can tweak your highs and lows.

So it seems like the Samsung music app isn't compatible with any scrobblers, as far as I know. It's a real shame too, because I really enjoy the lock-screen controls, and it's a fairly decent music player. It's a lot smoother and prettier than the scrobbling-solution that I have in place for now, DoubleTwist.
The response from the last.fm forums doesn't seem to indicate that last.fm will be the ones to apply the solution, and SLS is rather quiet lately. I don't know where to begin contacting Samsung, but Android devs are more likely to get to the root of this.
Anyway, it would be really nice if someone could help fix this. I'm no developer, the best I can do is make some noise or a donation, but I'd really like to see scrobbling support on our Galaxy S music players.
I agree. It would be nice. Although, worst case, when CM6 is released for the phone, I can have the old music player back and scrobbling will work once again
I AGREE! The Samsung music app is pretty slick, wish scrobbling would work though.
just grab the music.apk from CM5.0.8 for the nexus. works like a charm for me, especially since the samsung music doesn't have a desktop widget that works on any of the other launchers as far as I can tell.
Ouch. I just noticed this myself. I wonder if the samsung music player is proprietary...

Forget the stock android music app or Samsung app, checkout the music app "Cubed" (as in cubed symbol). Search for "filipe" in the market. Cool music app, looks great on the Vibrant and it has built in last.fm scrobbling.

Yeah, I ended up using cubed after hearing good things about it on this forum. It looks quite amazing, and works rather well, unlike how cover flow usually end up being useless.

After tried all the roms in NADA way, i find the volume can't be adjusted when i close the display. This means that i had to touch any key first when listening the music, then i can adjust the volume.
I remeber there has same problem in some htc hero rom. But i can't find the solution for HD2.
Hope it can be solved by someone.

As far as I know that is how all of them work... unfortunately. However, if someone does know a way around this, that would rock!
It's most definitely not standard, Digital Outcast! A couple of ROMs have this bug (or is it a feature?), just try some others.
MDJ's Gingerbread 2.6 sure has functioning volume buttons with a disabled screen, and it also features long-press to skip tracks (w/ screen off only).

Wow really? I guess all the ROM's I've been running are "bugged", hah!
I would love those features... but are those available in 2.3 (Gingerbread) only? Is that maybe what it is?
Of all the roms I've tried (and that's quite a few) I have only experienced it 2-3 times. Granted, Sense builds never lasted more than a couple of hours so I can't vouch for them, I'm more of a stock guy.
I suppose you gave up trying after a few roms without it
It's been a feature for a very long time, I think even the stock 1.5 rom of my ol' HTC Magic had it.
Just feed your phone some Cyanogenmod love. Not only is it a wonderful ROM, the community behind it is should be an example for other communities and even companies.

Yeah, I should. CM roms are so clean and fast, I've used them before and always go back and forth. Even have one backed up with CWM when I feel like trying it out again. I just always tend to go back to the HTC roms because I like some of the HTC apps and widgets. I'm sure I could find replacements but never really care to look that far into it.
Clean indeed, yet one of the most fully featured available.
First of all, Gingerbread stock looks pretty slick. Sense still has some pretty good apps, bust most have nice replacements.
Fancy widget is similar to the cliché weather widget. I barely used it but it's popular and well featured, free version available on market.
Dialer One is a popular dialer, similar to the HTC one. Wasn't quite on par with HTC dialer in terms of design, but that may very well have changed by now.
The paid version of LauncherPro (#1 home replacement app imo) features some very nice widgets: facebook, twitter (and a combined one), calendar, contacts, ... Even without these widgets the free version is still a winner, beats the Sense home app handsdown!
Hi Guys.
I recently bought a HTC Desire S, and is pretty thrilled about it, meaning both the android OS, and the HTC Sense UI.
But - HTC Sense doesn't support ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), which sucks for me bigtime, as I think the Sense-music player is as good as it gets, pretty much. And, since much of my music is in that format.
I also use HTC Sync to put music on my device, which is pretty smooth because of the iTunes-playlist support.
I know there is a bunch of other players on the market (currently using poweramp), that could solve my problem, but I would prefer using the Sense-musicplayer, because of it's simplicity and smooth UI.
In other words, please don't just advise me to use another app, since I'm already aware they're available
My question is then;
Is there a way to get HTC Sense to support ALAC-playback??

Hi guys. Since I bought my DHD I was looking for a better Music player - the stock one was ok but i missed some stuff coming from an ipod touch. Then I found this one: PlayerPro, and its even better than an ipod
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro&feature=search_result
The only thing lacking was SRS/Dolby support so i went on their forums and asked for it. And shortly after that the Dev emailed me and said he was working on it^^ Never happened to me before He's a really nice guy. Anyway so I helped him with betatesting and now this Player has full SRS/Dolby support on the DHD!
And a ton of other features too! Volume buttons for Track next/prev support, Headset controls, load covers from the net, different views, full playlist support and and and and. Even a pretty good video player is on board
I know this sounds like an advertisement and the player costs a little something but i just want to inform. No financial interest.
cheers!
Hehe PowerAmp is good I also like the stock player! I'll download the trial for this program xD
Yeah, playerpro has been my player of choice for ages now. I have tried a few, inclusive poweramp and in my opinion it leaves all others light years away.

PlayerPro is also my player of choice! Great app with lots of potential and nice design
The funny thing is: I came from stock (with Dolby) to PlayerPro on Froyo because of the equalizer plugin which was way better than the PowerAMP one. Then I was going nuts because O2 Germany didn´t release the gingerbread update (build in and powersafing equalizer) - so I made a goldcard and flashed ARHD. (it was definitly worth it!) And now after happily using ARHD + PlayerPro + build in equalizer, SRS is back I´m realy happy, because this enhances my daily music hours even more!
Thank you for asking and helping the dev
I love the player, it's much better then the stock but I only have one complain, that's lack of good integration of music control in the lock screen.

Been using PlayerPro since my HTC Desire. Its great, thanks for the update on the extra sound enhancement, have been using Muiu Music Player since using Miui based ROM for the past few weeks. IMO, PlayerPro has the best album information and album art organisational system, very simple to use...the best part is the super smooth scrolling of the album art...got to get back onto it! =D
So I run dark rom, but I heard that the stock audio app sounds the best since it utilizes the hardware well. I know the ui sucks, but is it anyway possible to port it over to other roms?
I understand it would probably be hard, but I'd be ready to toss a good amount of money if someone could port the stock Audio app (and fix the ui if they could).
Is there anyone one a stock + custom switcher that could give us a good comparison to other apps like poweramp beta?
