Personally, unless the Galaxy S III is amazing, I will probably go with the Evo LTE. My upgrade is in Jan 13, so there may be cooler phones between now and then, but so far, I am leaning towards Evo LTE unless the nexus 4 is on sprint by then or the galaxy s iii is considerably better.

This + LTE. I'm willing to wait a while. Nothing I want to do right now the Epic can't handle. My complaints are all network related.
Is anyone else thinking about the evo lte?

I will probably jump to the AT&T note rather than waiting for sprint note. Part of it is that I want to be able to grab a pre-paid SIM when going to europe, which the Sprint version won't be able to do unless Sprint does something drastic. Part of it is that my company has a contract with AT&T for a 20% discount on plans, etc.

I'm in the exact same boat, the only thing that drew me to sprint is the unlimited data, however now that I work 50+ hours a week I think 2 gigs might be fine for me. (I normally burn through 8 lol)

I'm not sure.
I won't be on Sprint when my contract is up. They are ripping me the **** off.
So it depends on whether I go T-Mobile or Verizon.
I just got my Galaxy Nexus today! It's so beautiful and it couldn't have come at a better time since my Epic jumped (not literally) off my stove to the saltillo tile floor. I had just ordered this phone a couple hours before "The incident". I'm sure going to miss this community.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I think I'm getting ready to jump ship permanently from Sprint. I haven't had many problems with them, but their network is very inconsistent. I have unlimited data on AT&T and ordered the GSM Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store today for $399. That's hard to beat in my opinion. I might keep Sprint to see what happens with LTE, but only time will tell.
There's no sense for me to even consider which phone I'll upgrade to until I know when the LTE network is coming to my city. I'll also be evaluating how my performance on the network improves (if it all) due to Network Vision. If I didn't have such an unbelievable deal with Sprint I might have moved on long ago, but I hate the pay-through-the-nose, limited data plans on the other carriers.
An ideal scenario would be that in the fall, with LTE on here, and my contract up for renewal, the Sprint version of the GSIII comes out like the Epic, as the clear spec leader with all the trimmings including physical keyboard and a totally solid build quality. And no plan rate increases.

Hands down, a Note - there is no comparison of that device to any other. I've always appreciated convergence of technologies, and there is no better example today than a Note.
Sprint offers a lot which other carriers don't, but after a while you certainly miss what you really want, and that is a solid network, which Sprint isn't. The day the Note arrives on Verizon (hopefully as a world phone), I'm grabbing it regardless of the number of months left on my contract with Sprint.

The only thing I don't like about Sprint, is that they aren't working on getting 10 inch tablets on 3G/4G. Why don't we have a 4G Xoom yet? That's really what I'm holding out for. An awesome 10 inch tablet!

Not due for an upgrade till next year! But unless something INCREDIBLY awesome comes out between now and then I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick with my Evo 4g. I've messed around with it quite a bit. Performance wise it is better, obviously, since it has a dual core processor.
I'm thinking about upgrading just for the speed. I could care less about the 3D feature. That's just an added bonus.
It's always nice having a family plan with two lines. I get an upgrade a year because my mom doesn't like touch screen phones and enjoys her rumor 2 or whatever I got her last time I was on ebay. So I just resign the contract every other year on each line and get a new phone at the contract price.

Haven't heard of an official release, but I was wondering if anyone has noticed in the Samsung App store that there is an app called Demo Mode for Galaxy S Plus? This was spoken about on another thread, they're saying never, since Nexus is prized for its LTE capabilities, and Sprint is deploying LTE for the first Quarter of 2012. After speaking with Sprint Reps a week ago, they also told me LTE is underway on their new towers, but that it won't be an impressive coverage until the next 5 years.

I've been told by an extremely reliable source that Sprint's network re-tool (including LTE) will be completed by late 2013. They are on an extremely aggressive timeline to roll it all out. They can't afford a long, drawn-out one, even if it's cheaper to do.

I half agree with this. I do think Sprint will get it, and I do think there will be 'better' options out there when it happens. However, I think I would rather have a slightly underpowered Nexus than a fully stocked Samsung/Motorola/HTC with the TW/Blur/Sense slapped on top of it.

Google Wallet?
I think Sprint should get it at some point. Google is working with Sprint for Google Wallet and the only phone that does it is the Nexus S 4G. So why wouldn't they bring the next Nexus to Sprint too? Verizon, ATT, and TMo are competing with Google for NFC payments. I figure that since the Epic Touch 4G didn't come with NFC means, they're leaving that for the Nexus phones on Sprint. Just a thought.
I thought 4.5" screen was huge on G2; GN has a 4.7".

I have no confidence in Sprint delivering anything according to a timetable. If this phone is really dependent on a network that Sprint doesn't even have yet, I'm guessing we either won't see this device at all, or, as others have said in this thread, we'll see at a point where it's lost all its cachet.

I seem to recall the Galaxy S2 listing Verizon and that didn't end up meaning anything so who knows
Well, to me it only makes sense that they include Sprint. I mean, the Nexus S eventually came to sprint, did it not? I don't see why Google would exclude a carrier they once worked with, especially if they want more sales.
I hope that link is true Zanderman. I'm pretty sure it is, but there's always that little bit of doubt.
My wife and I both have Epics. Her phone had a few bad drops and is about to die. Since my upgrade is coming on Dec 1, I'm planning to get a new phone and have her take my Epic.
But what phone should I get? There's unfortunately no better phone with a physical keyboard, so I'm out of luck there. I don't have a good sense for when the Galaxy Nexus is coming to Sprint so I don't want to end up waiting 6 months for it.
Should I just get the Epic Touch?

Hard call. My dad and friend have them and they're insanely good, but all the points given before are true as well. Depends on when the phone actually dies, I guess.
Sprint takes forever to actually release the phones they announce. So you'll have at least 4 months from now before anything extraordinary hits the market, probably longer. If that phone has really run it's course, then yeah, just pick up the Touch.
Ridiculous claim ^^^^
Wait out for the announcement at least so you know what to expect. You can always just turn around and get it still, for cheaper maybe. My friend just got the tmobile varient and WOW it felt great to hold I love me big phones. Lol

I love the touch but the only issue I see is that it has a big problem with LOS (loss of service). I've rooted and flashed several roms on it and nothing seems to help. Besides that it is super smooth and has a screen like no other

Hey guys I am still rocking my epic 4g, but have finally got to my upgrade date with sprint. I like the look of the galaxy s 2, but I was really disappointed in samsung in how slow they are to update software. I really don't want to go through that crap again. Personally I'd wait til the GSIII announcement to make a decision. Or at least til the beginning of next month to make sure you didn't win a Galaxy Nexus (if you're entering the giveaway everyday).
sgs3 to start rolling out next month. http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/21/samsung-china-exec-suggests-galaxy-s-iii-could-land-in-april/ might not see it on sprint that soon but close enough to wait for an update. i am hoping for word of lte note before my june upgrade.
Just a thought as I recently did this and I understand it's not for everyone. I love my Epic so much and don't mind waiting more (hopefully for a qwerty phone) so I bought one of the $199 iPhones online and then sold it on ebay for over $500. This gives me cash and starts the 'ticker' again on my contract etc...
If you are in the first wave or second wave areas for LTE development, wait for the Galaxy Nexus next month. WiMax phones will not work on LTE. If you don't mind a much larger phone wait and see if and when the Galaxy Journal is coming to Sprint....it is nicknamed a Phablet.

Hi,
I was debating whether I should ask this question here or at Spring GS3 forum. I think asking here is more fitting.
I am wondering if I should stay with Sprint or not. I am honestly sick of slow data speed and delayed updates for CDMA phones.
But with wonderful dev magic shown here for our Epic4G, I think there won't be much software issues for GS3.
My alternative is Tmo's prepaid monthly4G for $30 per month. I really like the idea of owning GSM phone and getting unhindered updates from google. But there aren't any nexus phone that is better spec'ed then GS3. Also buying GS3 outright is pretty expensive, +$500.
So, if any of you guys switched to GS3, how are you guys? Any issues or regrets?
How is Sprint's data speed? I just found out from today's news that Sprint's gonna roll out LTE to LA, Boston and NYC area within months.
I just don't want to risk locking in 2 years with Sprint and be miserable...

To directly respond to the OP, regardless of what you decide on phonewise, if it were me, I'd definitely stick with Sprint, particularly if T-mo is the only alternative you're considering. Yeah, Sprint's speeds where NV hasn't hit yet suck, but if they stay on schedule, everything is supposed to be upgraded by the end of next year. And alot more is being done by the end of this year than I'd have imagined when I first heard of it a few months ago.

I am guaranteed at least 3mbps with Tmo HSPA+ for sure, and that is all I need.
I like their cheaper plan, but it is bummer to pay lump sum of ~$350 for a year old G-Nex or ~$600 for GS3...
I am hoping for a new nexus device, but no solid rumors about when it will be available... just speculations.
It might come next year, which is too much waiting for me...
If Sprint somehow offers me free GS3 I would stay, but I don't think Sprint can. So I am ready to walk out...
It comes down to if you want the fastest software updates or the best hardware available..
I went gs3 because the hardware is amazing.. and touchwiz really is nice on this thing.. its not like the epic where it just kind of makes things uglier.. it actually adds a lot of usable features on the gs3.. to the point where I would rather run a custom tw than aosp.
P.s. the screens bigger too!
