I may skip over the SGSII and wait for the Nexus Prime. Looks like a beast of a phone.

I would love to get the nexus prime. It does sound like it's going to be off the hook.

Indeed, but I am just also waiting for ANY news of either phone. Given the GVoice integration and NS4G, I am banking on Sprint getting it at launch or shortly after.
Oh yeah; GO SPRINT!

The only thing I don't like about Sprint, is that they aren't working on getting 10 inch tablets on 3G/4G. Why don't we have a 4G Xoom yet? That's really what I'm holding out for. An awesome 10 inch tablet!
Other than that Sprint rocks! Love my EVO even after a year.

Anyone have the EVO 3D w/ Sprint? Is it much better than the EVO 4G?
Ah the future!
Not due for an upgrade till next year! But unless something INCREDIBLY awesome comes out between now and then I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick with my Evo 4g. The question is what will we have available when the time comes? I can't wait to see! With the Evo being my first and only android device I'm sure Sprint will have something good and mindblowing waiting for me!
I switched from AT$T and I haven't regretted it. Only thing is the coverage can be spotty... but gotta love unlimited data!

I've messed around with it quite a bit. Performance wise it is better, obviously, since it has a dual core processor.
I'm thinking about upgrading just for the speed. I could care less about the 3D feature. That's just an added bonus.
It's always nice having a family plan with two lines. I get an upgrade a year because my mom doesn't like touch screen phones and enjoys her rumor 2 or whatever I got her last time I was on ebay. So I just resign the contract every other year on each line and get a new phone at the contract price.

Haven't heard of an official release, but I was wondering if anyone has noticed in the Samsung App store that there is an app called Demo Mode for Galaxy S Plus? I'm wondering if this is an entirely different phone that was never brought to the states and had little hype or if this is a precursor to the actual existance of this phone.

Hey dudes. Well, getting the itch for something new. After having my Epic 4g for over a year (and the fact I'm a phone whore) thinking of switching from crapola Sprint to Verizon. Network has been crappy to say the least in the last months. I've tried a multitude of roms, themes, but can't seem to shake it. Be that as it may, anybody in the same boat?
Any suggestions on what to get? I've been seeing the Prime talk and all, but who knows how long that will be before it comes out. I was looking at the Bionic, being that I can't upgrade to the Epic Touch, and again the crappy Sprint network. Any other suggestions?

Really? recommend AT&T?!?! I've been begging work to ditch their contract with AT&T and move to verizon so I could actually use the phone they provide me.
Just got the woman setup with the Droid 3 on VZW. It's nice and fast, but the custom rom scene is nonexistant yet.. The stratosphere should be out this weekend (so you don't miss yer epic too much lol) and i've heard a couple other phones are headed to VZW soon worth lookin into as well.

Which phone will most likely get more development ROMs? I am thinking of upgrading my phone but not sure if I should go to the E3D or the Design or wait for an official EVO 4G II. What do you guys think? Also, The E3D and the Design both have 5mp cameras but the EVO had 8mp. Did they swap the optics for those or is HTC going lower res?

They tuned down from 8MP because that is just HUGE and they also had to add in a second camera under the top one so they can do their crappy 3d effect.. so basicly a cheap effect for a lower mp

I doubt I'll ever jump ship from Sprint since I still have their SERO plan, $50 for an EVO, can't beat that.
Personally, I am waiting unitl the first LTE phones come out. I was tempted by the EVO 3D this summer and the SG2 this fall but I decided just to hold off. Nothing available now has the same kind of development support as the Evo. So nothing available now is a big enough upgrade hardware wise to justify giving up all the ROM options for a slightly better phone that I will want to replace again in 12 months. Evo will be the first phone in 4 years that I stuck with for the whole contract.

If Verizon offers well priced (with my work discount) unlimited plan over the summer, my wife and I are out of here. I've also hear they'll have a family plan coming out. I'm tired of these BS speeds and coverage.
If speeds increase enough in my area, I'll likely wait until the first LTE superphone.

Yeah...I'm eligible for an upgrade in March, so I'm sure by then the Prime will be out on Sprint, and maybe even something better..
After getting my E4G, I'm definitely an EVO fanboy. I don't think the 3D is all that great, but if I had to choose between it and a design I would go for the 3D. The 3D has a decent community considering its short life span so far. Personally I would just wait at least 6 months until next June when Sprint will hopefully release the next EVO, but unless it supports both WiMax and LTE I would wait until there is an LTE EVO if I was going to stay with Sprint. Otherwise I would probably look at Verizon, they have several good HTC phones and should be getting quad core phones early next year.

If there was ever a LTE version for att of the NS, I could honestly say it would be the last phone I would ever need.
I would be happy with a HSPA+ for TMO or ATT
Hell I am hoping the LTE version will launch for Sprint too
If the GN comes I see it being the LTE flavor. Or maybe dual WIMAX and LTE?
I was thinking of the Epic Touch but seeing ICS on INT GS2 left a horrible taste in my mouth . Hopefully they will leave the stock launcher like they did for GB?

I've reached the conclusion that buying expressive electronics when they first come out is simply a bad consumer choice. How often do new electronics (especially phones) ship with some kind of defect? It takes at least a few months for all the bad batches to reach the suckers and the bug-free versions to hit shelves.

Nexus S is somewhat of a special case; most if, if not all, the bugs were worked out the year prior with the galaxy s line. And if you paid attention, which i did, the gs had plenty of problems til they released the the updated versions without bugs (gs4g and ns). On top of that, the ns4g had the ns out before it--> that's about 3 generations of product field testing. You should really thank gs, ns, and gs4g for making your ns4g what it is today
Current evo4g owner eligible for an upgrade. Was on the sprint website trying to decide between this ns4g ($0.00) and the epic touch4g ($199.99). Love the gs2's hardware, but I agree with don'tshootmesanta's distaste for TouchWiz smothering the ICS goodness underneath. Love the nexus s 4g, but it is getting a little long in the tooth. Would it be wise to get the nexus now?
As a premiere customer I believe my annual upgrade will disappear in two weeks as the program comes to an end, and the opportunity to (finally) own a nexus device, for free, seems foolish to pass up.
The foolish thing would be not to get the iPhone 4s and flip it. Nexus S 4G are too cheap to use an upgrade on it.

1. Use my upgrade to buy the iPhone 4S for $199.99
2. Sell iPhone on craigslist/ebay for ~ $600
3. Keep using the evo or use the $400 profit to buy new phone off contract?

For me it's either Nexus or no Android phone but I'd get the Epic Touch 4G. You could easily sell it, buy a Nexus S 4G and have some cash to spare. You could even wait and see if the Galaxy Nexus hits Sprint and sell the Epic Touch 4G then.

Yea Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast GPA 19, very much stock but better. You can just d/l and install it through Rom Manager although it's probably still on these forums some where, just to much other ICS stuff to wade through and find it. I've tried them all and his is by far the smoothest bug free one I've came across, great battery life as well. I'll stick with it until he gets a ICS version up and running.
Thought I would make a one stop shop thread for upcoming sprint phones and existing recent ones that people may want to upgrade to.

I will probably jump to the AT&T note rather than waiting for sprint note. Part of it is that I want to be able to grab a pre-paid SIM when going to europe, which the Sprint version won't be able to do unless Sprint does something drastic. Part of it is that my company has a contract with AT&T for a 20% discount on plans, etc.

I'm in the exact same boat, the only thing that drew me to sprint is the unlimited data, however now that I work 50+ hours a week I think 2 gigs might be fine for me. (I normally burn through 8 lol)

I'm not sure.
I won't be on Sprint when my contract is up. They are ripping me the **** off.
So it depends on whether I go T-Mobile or Verizon.
I just got my Galaxy Nexus today! It's so beautiful and it couldn't have come at a better time since my Epic jumped (not literally) off my stove to the saltillo tile floor. I had just ordered this phone a couple hours before "The incident". I'm sure going to miss this community.

I think I'm getting ready to jump ship permanently from Sprint. I haven't had many problems with them, but their network is very inconsistent. I have unlimited data on AT&T and ordered the GSM Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store today for $399. That's hard to beat in my opinion. I might keep Sprint to see what happens with LTE, but only time will tell.
There's no sense for me to even consider which phone I'll upgrade to until I know when the LTE network is coming to my city. I'll also be evaluating how my performance on the network improves (if it all) due to Network Vision. If I didn't have such an unbelievable deal with Sprint I might have moved on long ago, but I hate the pay-through-the-nose, limited data plans on the other carriers.
An ideal scenario would be that in the fall, with LTE on here, and my contract up for renewal, the Sprint version of the GSIII comes out like the Epic, as the clear spec leader with all the trimmings including physical keyboard and a totally solid build quality. And no plan rate increases.

Hands down, a Note - there is no comparison of that device to any other. I've always appreciated convergence of technologies, and there is no better example today than a Note.
Sprint offers a lot which other carriers don't, but after a while you certainly miss what you really want, and that is a solid network, which Sprint isn't. The day the Note arrives on Verizon (hopefully as a world phone), I'm grabbing it regardless of the number of months left on my contract with Sprint.

Been a og evo user myself I would go for the nexus . I love the new camera on the HTC evo lte and beats audio . But the stock ICS is great. I can't stand sense anymore

What would make me decided get the evo lte would be if htc would let you choose between ICS stock or ICS sense and btw you get 50$ in Google wallet with the galaxy nexus

yeah that is true. maybe ill just get the evo LTE and wait for a 100% full working pure ICS rom.
That's what I thought, too. ..but check the rezound and One X forums, the way HTC has been locking their sh1t down, and with all the proprietary HTC features, it's almost impossible to get a fully functional AOSP ROM working on the newer devices.
And to flash a ROM, you have to be tethered to a computer using fastboot commands.
I've been struggling with this myself the past week, and starting to lean toward the nexus, myself, despite the hardware of the Evo LTE is vastly superior. I prefer straight ICS for SW, though.
Good luck with your choice. I'd say, go browse the nexus forums and the One X forums to see the lay of the land.

i would love to get the nexus and i just might do it. the only things that make me want the evo is knowing that the hardware is better and the amazing camera functions of it.
This is why I didn't get the LTE evo

I ordered my galaxy nexus monday night, got free overnight shipping from sams club's website for $148.88, don't think they charge sales tax in any state, nor do they require membership.
Due to arrive sometime later today.

So get the new EVO and wait for a AOSP rom to go out that has sense removed.

Which will take a long time as there's no guarantee of full root on the new HTC phones.

Yup, in my apt there is zero coverage, out on the street I get a single bar, a few blocks away its full signal + 3G and probably HSPA+. And this is in the middle of the bay area
I am in the same boat. Almost two years with the OG Evo. Flashed the heck out of it
When it comes to a new phone I might wait for a windows phone. When I saw the reviews of the lumina 900 my eyes glittered. Moreover if that phone impressed Steve Wozniak It might be something.
just my 2 cents.
so i ruled out the nexus. simply becasue its 6 months old and the EVO hardware is better.
But now i have an issue....im thinking of switching to AT&t and getting the One X. Very sexy phone.
