[Q] Unlocked HTC HD2 Data Problem - HD2 General

Hey again everyone, I posted a question earlier about a possible radio issue on a HTC HD2 I unlocked from O2 UK today and I'm now using it on T-Mobile. Basically my problem is that I can access mobile data while my signal is T-Mobile only, but as soon as it switches to T-Mobile/Orange (these two networks now share each others signals), the H (3G icon) turns into an R (stands for Roaming, amirite?) and I get a notification telling me that I've lost connection because I left my home area with roaming not turned on... However, with roaming on I can access the internet constantly, but I'm worried about incurring hefty data roaming charges so I don't think that's a solution.
The phone is running an Android ICS ROM (the NexusHD2 one, thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860), it was locked to O2 UK and it's now running on T-Mobile/Orange. Also WiFi, GPS and calls/texts work so I doubt it's a radio issue.
Been searching the internet for a while now to find a solution and can't find one, if you can find a thread with the answer please link me
Thanks in advance!

IMO it's not a radio issue!
You should contact your network operator and ask them about this and extracharges for that (strange kind of) roaming...

I once experienced some issues on data roaming while having Wifi turned on. Turning it off made it work fine on my tytungs ICS.

Automatic WiFi/3G Switching

Hi All,
Is there a way to get my hd2 to automatically switch between WiFi and 3G data as wifi networks become available or unavailable. At the moment i have to manually switch data connections depending on where i am.
IE: i have a wifi connection at home an d at work. But if i am going someone else that doesn't have a wifi network, then i have to manually go into settings/wireless controls/data connection/ and switch my data connection to telstra internet or telstra bigpond on order to get active sync and weather updates etc.
What i would prefer it do is automatically start using telstra internet when i am out of wifi range, then switch back to wifi when i come in range again.
I have already called HTC support about this issue, but they were no help at all.
I would appreciate any help you guys can offer.
I am running a Telstra shipped HD2, details:
OS: 5.2.21869
Manilla: 2.5.20121431.1
Rom: 1.72.841.0 (82124) WWE
I believe that WMLonglife will do that for you.

Yeah... it will be able to switch from 3G to wifi. Will be able to return to Edge if no application is accessing internet.
I think ive been given some misleading information from htc, after some initial testing using spb wireless... it seems that the htc does do this switching automatically. And i dont think WMLonglife will be any good for me, becuase i can only get telstra nextg (aka 3.5g) reception where i live. If my phone where to switch to 2g then i wouldnt get many calls, which might not be such a bad thing in some ways.
Im going to keep running with my testing for the time being, but will use wmlonglife if i dont get the results im hoping for.
Cheers guys, appreciate the comments
One solution would be PhoneAlarm http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html . You can set it so that when you enter a particular cell area (your home for instance), it'll switch to WiFi. When you leave that particular cell area, it'll switch back to 3G.

T-Mobile UK issues tonight?

I don't know if I'm having issues with my phone or T-Mobile's network but I can't get any mobile data functionality. The 3G / H icon displays but any attempt to get any data sees the upload indicator active with no download activity. I've tried WiFi which works fine so it's either a problem with the radio or T-Mobile. Any UK owners on T-Mobile tonight that can tell me if there are issues? Thanks
no issues for me in se london/n kent area
That's what I thought, thanks. I had this a month or so ago where all data downloading would fail but the upload arrow would constantly be there like it was sending requests and getting nothing back. I never did find the problem and it started working a few hours later so it's likely a local issue. I'm in the North East.
i have no issues, in the east midlands
3290 kbps! that's rather fast, I live in the east midlands and don't get anywhere near that

switch off your data with the widget and then restart your phone and switch on the data after the restart
see if that works
otherwise no problem on tmobile in north london/west london... been traving and surfing to make sure my team werent losing. i shouldn't have botherd
It's been fine in the Durham area for me, probably pulled a couple of hundred MB down today...
I hate this stuff sometimes.. I had no 3G from about 7pm last night but 2G worked fine when I finally thought to check it. I tried an hour or so ago and now 3G is back up and running. I know it wasn't the phone because it put the SIM in my Milestone and had the same problem, stupid networks!

[Q] Cyanogenmod Defy Baseband T-Mobile UK best choice

I'd like to ask UK T-Mobile users which is the best option to pick under the Defy Baseband settings.
I think I am using the United Kingdom T-Mobile 2.51.1 option at the moment but when my signal switches to the T-Mobile Orange signal I lose my 3G/HSPA signal therefore losing all internet connections.
Does anyone else on T-Mobile suffer this? Is there a better option to pick in the Baseband setting?
Thanks
I get the same thing on my Desire (CM7.1 with Data Roaming and National Data Roaming options ticked under Settings, Wireless & Networks) - data works fine when on the T-mobile network (I'm a T-mobile customer) but then when it switches to T-mobile Orange the data connection is dropped. Phone calls and texts still go through as usual, but even when I go back onto the T-mobile network the data connection is not restored and I have to go into Airplane mode and then out again to enable it.
Is there any way I can pin down why this problem is happening? A previous thread on this topic in the forums just went backwards and forwards with some people saying they had no problem and no problem solving steps being offered other than to check that data roaming and national data roaming were ticked in the Wireless & Network settings.
Sometimes, also, the Android browser will be able to browse webpages while Dolphin HD will not. This problem is nowhere near as consistent as the above, though.
Defy T-mobile Uk optimal baseband settings
Just thought I would add, I'm also seeing this behaviour on reconnecting to T-mobile Orange data. Looks like they are still merging the networks.
Does anybody have an update on the best baseband to select?
I am on CM 7.2 Kang Cherry picks defy plus with GB kernel.
Thanks
Have same prob t Mobil sim but switched to orange its the default when no T-Mobile signal have had sharing taken off sim but still orange as default boo

Why not try a few. Start with the highest number (4...)
Could be the fault of the network. You can always try to send a mail about this to t-mobile for more info.

[Q] RARE no WCDMA or 3G conection at all

Hi, My name is javier, I have bought one nexus 4 8Gb orange phone, but it is sim-unlocked so I can use my MVNO ( mobile virtual operator network) But I am unable to use 3G or WCDMA band in spain.
I Know here are some problems about MVNO and 4.3 and 4.4 and 4.4.2 Android versions, but my problem is not this one. On a Vodafone SIM Card, I am unable to get internet also on this unit. The rest of the phone works flawessly, but 3G does not. I am starting to think that GSM chip is broken. But Hey 2G Networks works well no signal lost, perfectly clear voice on dialing, and constant 20kb internet data speed. No matter is an MVNO or a real operator like Vodafone.
Searching the net, i came over this:
Nexus 4 Suffering from 3G and 4.ยท Upgrade
And for all of you that are not going to take a deep read, let me tell, that they say there is an error on 4.3 and newer Android framework and Radio Baseband version. So people get unconsistent 3G connection. Well mine is really consistent. No conection at all never. So I think this is not my problem, although I have tried a bunch of roms even all google ones, all basebands and a couple of sims from diferent company.
Anyway, a quick fix is quoted here: Quick 3G Fix But I do not understand what is this or what I am supposed to do with that. Can someone help me with this?
And, after that, I start to look at something more, like Sim Unlocking is snot well done and 3g Band is still locked. Havent tried it with Orange sim as I do not have any. Is there any secret menu where network locks are shown?
And moreover, How can I trace what is happening to my chip? If someone has made hybrid basebands to unlock 4G, there has to be a way to track what is happening to radio basebands while they are working...and perhaps, I can gather some good info to work with...
One more thing on *#*#4636#*#* menu, I can force WCDMA or GSM or the rest options, If I use Force WCDMA, I get signal lost for ever, If only GSM or WCDMA Preferred, it has signal but only gprs internet conection. This is with ONO (MVNO). But with Vodafone, I get HSPA Conection but no internet at all.
Really annoyed with this, hope someone is able to help me with this.
Thanks to all in advance.
Nobody? well i will try to find out myself.
Anyway I have started to know something about android tracking with logcat, and would like to know if there is any way to check all the traces of the modem to check if the chip is faulty or is a driver issue and i have to learn to modify it myself. Thanks.

[Q] HSDPA Intermittent Connection

Hi,
Using a N910F with T-Mobile UK, default APN settings for EE. The phone was sold by O2.
I'm having a hard time maintaining a connection to the HSDPA network when out and about, far more so than with my previous phone with the same carrier in the same places. The signal will often show as full whereas the connection isn't established (based on having the 2 arrows highlighted) under the H icon. Once the connection is dropped it takes a long time to re-establish.
I've searched and read about other users having poor reception quality but this seems to be a different issue to the one I'm trying to resolve.
I haven't seen any alternative radios available for this phone yet so not sure if I just need to wait a while. If anyone has working APN settings for T-Mobile UK and can share them that would be really helpful.
Thanks for your advice!
