Hi all!
There is a way to backup text messages and, if possible, call logs, between Android and WP7? I'm actually keeping these things backupped in Gmail with SMS Backup + for android, but i dunno any Wp7 alternatives.
Can you please help me to find a solution?
Thanks in advance,
Mauro.

theres this

that's fine for backup and restore of text messages and contacts.
it doesn't capture call logs tho, restore is fairly easy, but if you must setup and sync all your accounts first, then restore the backup, then delete facebook (if you use it) then restart and setup facebook again.
for some reason my contacts get all messed up if I don't delete and resync my FB contacts when importing backups
If your looking to copy from android to WP7 etc then that might be an issue, if you can edit the vol files created I guess you could then import them in to WP7 but ive looked at the files and you would need a special program to do it also note that MMS messages lose there content, the message is still there but no content. perhaps that's something that can be fixed in future versions as I think the chap who made it is still trying to work out how WP7 stores it all.

Hey there,
My SMS program is lagging a lot due to having too many messages, is there anyway i can transfer them to my pc?
Ive tried searching but i cant seem to find what im looking for!
Thanks!!
Take a look at Jeyo Mobile Extender. Integrates perfectly with Outlook 2007. When registering your name, make sure its the same as the 'ME' in the HD2 contacts list.
or use microsoft myphone and archive the messages. They will be removed from your phone on next sync, but will be kept online. not sure if you can UNARCHIVE messages though if you want them back on the phone .....
If you just want to STORE them on the pc and not READ them there, then use PIM Manager to do a complete backup on your storage card. Remove the backup from the card, and move it to your PC. Then delete all your SMSes from your phone.... If you want to reinstall ALL SMSes at a future date, do a backup, put the old, stored backup back on your storage card, restore the OLD backup, then restore the NEW backup, making sure that on the second restore you untick the boxes telling it to delete messages
EDIT:
Just checked MyPhone FAQs, and yes, the archived material CAN be restored to the phone.
gonna try it now!
thanks for the response!!
After trying Android Froyo for my Touch HD, I decided to use it for daily use, because I think Froyo is stable enough (last time I tried the eclair I feel not so stable), and overall it's better than WinMo
So I tried to move few important things that exist on my winmo, and the most important things that I feel is:
- Contact
- Calendar
- SMS
As a newbie I feel it might be useful for those of you who just tried to use android for you Touch HD device, and I will try to share my experience in doing it.
Hopefully useful.
=============================
WinMo - Sync Contacts and Calendar with Gmail account
The first thing need to do is performing synchronization between the existing Calendar and Contacts on winmo with gmail account. If you haven't already, you can follow the steps described here :
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
It is not so hard to do
WinMo - Backup existing sms
Because I have some important sms messages so I don't want to lose them.
1. Download sms exporter from http://stop3dataroaming.googlecode.com/files/SmsExporterSetup0.5.CAB
2. Create a backup file with sms exporter and store it in the folder <sdcard> / SMSBackupRestore (if this folder is not exist please create it first), and give it the name: mySMS.xml
Installing Android
Install Froyo Android on your device, you can use the steps described on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732362
And use your gmail account to get all contact and calendar items on android
Froyo - Downloading SMS Backup
Download and install the SMS Backup and Restore app by typing the word SMS Backup and Restore on the android market and select/install the application SMS Backup and Restore by Ritesh Sahu
Froyo - Restore SMS
Run the SMS Backup and Restore app, and click the restore button. There will be a pop up asking you which file to restore and then choose mySMS.xml.
Select OK and then the application will start the restore process.
Froyo - Transferring SMS backup to gmail - optional
Later, once the SMS has been moved to the android, I felt froyo becoming a bit slow (I have about 2300 sms mesages lol), so I decided to move / backup all the SMS to my gmail account.
What you need is only to install the SMS Backup+ by Jan Berkel (just search it on android Market)
And after all sms items uploaded to my gmail account under label SMS,I remove some old messages and then android becomes faster
That's all. Hopefully will help for those of you who tried to install froyo on your Touch HD

hi,
I've been searching the internet for quite a while now in a search for an application that will backup my sms AND mms messages.
Yes, I know about backing up to gmail, but when I need to restore it - it doesn't restore mms, it only does sms and I need BOTH.
I have mms messages that are very important to me since sometimes I write messages longer than 4 sms, it just doesn't matter to me how long is it so I end up with sending mms quite a lot of times. It is because of that it is very important for me to find a solid application that backs up mms along with ordinary sms.
I am doing this because when I update to 2.3.3. all of those messages will be lost and I want to have them in my phone at all times. Any good and working suggestions please?
Also, I have tried Android Sync Manager today and it says it backed up all the messages but when I go and try to restore them it says that restore failed (after the progress bar fills up), could that be because none of the messages has been deleted? I think that it should back them up even if they haven't been deleted, it's not like the program cares if I have 2 of each message right? So does ASM actually work and I'm supposed to update without being afraid for my mms and sms because it will restore once all messages are deleted or it doesn't work and you have a better solution?
Thank you

does it work on android 2.1? I need to back them up on 2.1 and then restore when I'm on 2.3.
Also sorry if this is in the wrong section, it's just that the description "Discussion about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (tips & tricks, etc)" seemed nice to me to ask the question here since I'd say I'm asking for a tip/trick
You have backup and restore on 2.1. On 2.3 install the 2.3 version and restore.

Hello all, i'm desperately in need of your help!!
1) The problem:
-my NAND (internal storage memory) runs out of space all of a sudden when I know for sure that it has plenty of free space since I install almost everything on my microSD. All my user setting/sms/contacts were reset and emptied. Every time I reboot/turn on my phone, it always make me go through the whole Initial Setup Wizard as if it was a brand new phone. Apparently since there's 0 space available on NAND, it simply cannot save my setting.
2) Back ground Info:
- my hd2 has been running coredroid 1.5 (or 1.6) perfectly on NAND for over 6+ months.
- I know NAND is still working because I'm still able to boot into android.
3) What I need:
- I need to figure out a way to recover my contacts and sms from NAND before I reformat it and reflash android. Please help me I've been searching on XDA and google for the past hours but no dice
thanks a million in advance!!!

thanks for your response, but I dont think u understand my question. My contacts and SMS are emptied, so a regular backup app will not help me in this case. What I need is to somehow recover contacts and sms from internal storage.
Titanium backup can schedule the backup/restore
You guys are not understanding me, backup app can only backup the data that's currently there. but if the data has been deleted, these backup apps cannot recover them...
since they are gone, they have probably been removed. I don't think u can recover them..
computer memory and/or hard drives usually still retain the files that you deleted. it's possible to recover files after you format hard drive, so of course it's possible to recover files from a memory chip.
so I was looking at my TitaniumBackup folder, and I see these files:
com.android.providers.contacts-20110409-103323.properties
com.android.providers.contacts-20110409-103323.tar
com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts-20110409-103331
com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts-20110409-103331.tar
can one of the files above contain my contacts?
mythek88, first
P.S. and Titanium can backup to dropbox =)
sorry buddy...i dont think you can recover contacts and smss....they are converted into binary and stored is what i vaguely remember reading.
there is a undelete app for root users, if you are one... try this app. i cant promise it will bring back sometime, but sometime trying is all it takes...good luck
to avoid this situation, i typically sync everything with my gmail so i can always recover anytime....
Thank you for all the inputs, I've given up on trying to recover my data and have went ahead and reformat/repartition/reflashed my rom. Luckily I found an old backup of my contacts, so I only lost a handful of new numbers.

Restore SMS from mmssms.db with adb
Hi all,
Can anybody help me how to restore mmssms.db and also the contacts2.db? I read I can do it with adb, but as I tried, it sayd Permission Denied.
Can anybody write me a step-by-step guide how can I restore them for sure?
Thanks a lot.
Additionally, I tried Titanium, it doesn't see these files, so that is why is went for adb.
Please help!
Thanks a lot.
Hello,
I have multiple versions of Android on my SD card. I want to get the SMS messages from one of these builds and put them on another one. How do I do that? I cannot find where the SMS messages are stored. Are they stored in the data.ext file? If so, how do I get them off?
Also, is there a way to sync up apps to my Google account? Whenever I get a new build, I have to install all of my apps again. It would be nice if there was one step I could follow to get all of the apps back.

Okay, as to where the texts are stored isn't as easy as just tranfering files is it an option to boot into old build again and use an app from the market to back them up and then restore them on the new build or possibly ( a stretch) back them up to the sim card? As for the apps when I log into the market the first time my apps are always automatically restored ..... If that's not the case then download titanium backup and back them up and then restore the APPS ONLY NOT THE DATA OR YOU WILL EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS ........... hope this helps my friend
