You can use any micro usb cable to charge the nook (like those used on kindle or phones). The only problem is if it not a nook cable it charges very slowly. But if you keep plugged in all the time, it might charge up.
PS, Wal-Mart is a nook dealer and probably carries the nook color charging kit. You get a new cable and charging brick for $25. I got one a while back since the nook cables are so fragile and I wanted a spare.

if your running a custom rom it will charge connected to your computer, mine would only charge with the nook cable before now it charges with any micro usb

Nope, only Barnes and Noble carries the charger and even then not in most stores. It seems like an online only buy

The three different B&N's I have gone to in the last few months have all had specific Nook kiosks which had three different product showcase areas in each. One for Simple Touch, one for Color and one for Tablet. Each product showcase featured way more accessories than I wanted to catalog. After they warrantied my charging cable I grabbed a spare wall charger with cable to put in my laptop bag for $27 at the one I go to most often.
*And* just to test it out, I checked out the $20 Belkin 2.0A charger at Wally world. Works as needed with a B&N cable and will charge from 30 or so % to 100% using a standard cable given an appox. nine hour overnight, (plug it in before bed and grab it on the way out the door next morning).

Weird, I will have to try staples and do a double search at Barnes and nobles. I have tried best buy, target and walmart with no success.

I just bought a Nook Color Charging kit at Walmart today. $16.95 + tax. Total was $18.09 in Dublin Oh. Your Wally World experience may vary.

I can confirm this. Cowboom sent me a wall charger with one of the Nooks that looked similar to the Nook charger, but was not. It would not recognize it being plugged in on the stock software but once I put CM7 on it no problems.

Htc evo semi broken power jack

Is it me ? I am an IT consultant, I have been into electronics my whole life,
well since 7th grade,i`m 45+ yrs old and treat everything with respect....
How could my 5-6 week old HTC EVO already have charging issues ? when i got home tonight I plugged in the factory HTC usb charger and heard a click.....
well guess what no the little "Charging" light does`nt come on unless I wrap the wire under the phone, this will not be good in the car....
Bringing it to a Sprint store is not an option as i`m not on a plan,i`m one of the
other customers
is there a repair center ? or should i buck up another 60 bucks for a charging mat

I really dont see how you can be complaining then, since you dont even pay for service...
If I'm correct $35 should cover any repair when you don't have insurance.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yep, pay the $35 and then ask to add TEP...or not, depending on your perspective, it may or may not be worth it.
or you can always fix it yourself.

Thank you for the information, I looked into the charging mat and that is not an option as it too utilizes the micro usb jack, and with the new back on the phone that it requires makes my Seidio Innocase Holster Case Combo useless...It seems the charging mat people don't have a holster available (yet??) Anyways if i position the phone just right its taking a charge, but still , poor design for sure on HTC`s part here...I will look into having it repaired or order a jack and attempt tit myself I guess....Happy Holidays to all

[Q] Broke my USB port, help!

OK, so I think I'm boned... I picked up my Xoom in a hurry today while the USB cord was attached and yanked it out with extreme force (totally forgot I was debugging, )
It's a Verizon 3g, purchased about 6 weeks ago and no warranty (I THOUGHT I'd be more careful, ug).
It looks like the right corner of the usb plug is broken/chipped. I get no response plugging it in now.
I could probably deal without having USB other than I've been coding on it and using ADB on it is extremely handy. I never got around to rooting it, so I can do that either (nor it seems can I enable wireless ADB without SU, damn damn damn).
It looks like Moto has a default 369$ flat fee for out-of-warranty repair which is INSANE. I could probably by the whole board for that much!
Any idea? Anyone?
I'd consider replacing the USB plug myself if there is a decent "how to" or at least how to crack this thing open and where do I get the parts, etc.
Or what's the odds of Verizon replacing it as a "defect"? What would happen if it broke using the Moto Dock? I really hate this micro usb, just to f-n small. (I wanted to get a dock for this reason but of course, no usb out!)
Sorry for the ramble, I'm just beside myself right now. ANY help/suggestions is appreciated...
Not sure if this is possible but could you maybe purchase some sort of after sale warranty or insurance and claim on that?

[Q] damaged usb connect

I have an Epic 4G, got it in January. I bought it from Best Buy, but I am paying for Total Equipment protection. I am running CM7 on it now. All my rooting, wiping, Odining, seems to have caused some warping in the USB connection. The phone will still charge, but it is not recognized by my computer (same cable and USB connection on the computer that worked previously). Is this covered by TEP? Will the $35 charge cover it? I assume I will have to flash a stock, unrooted Rom before I bring it to the store.

If your under TEP I'm sure this will be covered for $35, but maybe someone else may know differently.

I'm at a corporate store, and as long as there aren't any bent pins or severe damage, we'll cover it.
(no charge with tep or esrp btw)
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, it's not heavily bent, the charging still seems to work, just can't get the computer to recognize it anymore. So I should just bring it to a local store?
Yeah I would, have them plug it into their triage computer to verify. They'll probably want to try and flash stock again to it, but obviously that won't work if the port is actually bad.
Strange, I'm having the exact same problem. Charging works, but no computer will recognize it. Windows complains about a malfunctioning USB device. Tried different computers, different cables, uninstall/reinstall driver -- everything. I flashed it back to stock with rerfs and went back to stock recovery before I take it in. No apparent damage.

Which file did you flash? Was it back to stock recovery as soon as you flashed it?

Irritated with ASUS

I had to ship my TF101 in for warranty service. It quit charging. The form I included with the tablet showed that I included the charger and cable since it said to do so if it was a charge issue. I did so, and checked the boxes.
When I got my tablet back, the repair was perfect. But no charger and cable.
I called them and they opened a ticket. 4 days later I call back and they told me that the Service center got back with them and there was no charger or cable included with the tablet. That is BS because I packaged it. And they will do nothing else. that cost me 45 bucks. (It was a second charger).
I am very frustrated that this happened. I know, it isn't a huge deal, but thought I would vent nonetheless.
Who did you ship it with? Most shipping company's give insurance when you ship that covers missing items up to a certain cost.
Mine told me NOT to ship accessories, cables or chargers...

So did mine. But there was a line on the form that did say that if it was a charge related issue, I needed to include it.
I guess I will just buy another one and call it a day. Not worth it for me to brood over it..
Try Office Depot or Staples. The OEM chargerand cable is $30.

I can fully understand and agree with your anger and frustration.
I believe the best advice has already been given - get in touch with the shipping company and claim for the missing items.
I completely understand your frustration. That would piss me off as well!

So I broke my Defy.

What should i get next? I'm most likely going to be using it for T-Mobile til my contract expires and go with non contract plans. Or should I just stay with the Defy and hope I can re-flash a bricked Defy off Ebay?

lol yah the micro b usb port got too loose and broke off. and the connections were too small to re solder. so i tried many things, and now the PCB is just destroyed at the USB. still powers on and everything. just cant connect it to USB for any reason. there are external/wall mounted battery chargers for the phone. but with my current battery lasting a day with how i use it, i thought no way.
