Hi everyone!
Been having a problem for days with SMSs not sending or not receiving or both.
came across this fix:

Your current PDU number is 059128721992 but that is too short. The actual full number is 0591287219921100 but it doesn't get recognised so the fix is to change the '05' to '07' and add the 1100 to the end so your new SMSC number is 0791287219921100
Steps:
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Select Phone Information
3) Set SMSC number to 0791287219921100 and hit Update
4) Turn radio off and back on
5) enjoy sending an sms
BUT, this fix didn't work for me, so I played around a little and found a number that worked for me. I can confirm I sent an SMS and recieved one, rebooted the phone and repeated and all was successful! Yay!
So here is the SMSC number I used:
0791722819911100
Repeat smacksakes steps but use the above number instead. (You may need to restart phone to power cycle the radio properly)
I hope this works for you! Im over the moon I can stick with CM9 and/or AOKP now
And credit to where it is due to OP!
Thanks for the PM pointing me to this post.
I can confirm that this number IS indeed working for me on Vodacom.
The funny thing is, it SHOULDN'T
I am not sure where smacksakes got the number "0791287219921100" from, because that decodes to an SMSC # of +822791291100, which is incorrect.
Vodacom's primary SMSC # is +27829119 - which encodes to a PDU # 0591722819911100.
The only difference between the above number (which SHOULD work, but doesn't), and your number, is you changed the second hexadecimal number form 5 to 7.
What you effectively did was change the LENGTH of the PDU number, which is controlled by the first two digits. Your working PDU decodes to a SMSC number of +278291191100, which is correct, except for the extra 4 digits (1100) which got added to the end because you changed the length of the number when you changed the 5 to 7.
Well done for fixing this, what made you think of changing the 5 to a 7?
Heya, thanks for the reply!
To be honest, I cant remember what made me change that. I guess I was desperate to get this working and stayed up for a few nights researching and reading up on it.
I also found the +72821991 number and converted it, then tried the "5" to "7" "trick" and it worked. I was in awe but hey, not complaining!
Edit: yea, I think I remember now, you pretty much summed it up: "What you effectively did was change the LENGTH of the PDU number, which is controlled by the first two digits. Your working PDU decodes to a SMSC number of +278291191100, which is correct, except for the extra 4 digits (1100) which got added to the end because you changed the length of the number when you changed the 5 to 7."
I kinda worked backwards in a way and played around until I got the correct length, which must be 16, kinda like having the bits to the answer and fining combinations that work
And for any other lazy b******s like myself out there, pasting it isn't gonna work, at lease not on the latest cm9 nightly... You're gonna have to type it. The horror!
Confirmation
Hi all,
I was having an issue with CM9 nightly 04/21 on sgs2 where sending sms killed the GSM connection.
After following instructions on CM Wiki for SMSC updates still couldn't fix it.
Your advice fixed it!
Thanks alot! That fixes the SMS RIL-crash bug for T-Mobile Austria Users too. I just had to replace my smsc with: 0791347606121100 and now sending sms works just fine.
Confirmed working on Hydrog3n-ICS as well. Nice job guys - I was waiting for a fix for a long time now.
Strangely enough, sometimes my SMS's just refused to send, other times it was just crashing RIL - had to delete the SMS to get RIL stable again. All working great now though.
Very happy it could help out you guys!
Thanks, but
I followed your advice step for step, as well as smacksake's advice, but my sms'ing still doesn't work. Although it did change one thing: previously it would kill the signal connection until I delete the sms. Now it doesn't, but I get an error notification (in notification bar) which says" Message not sent - touch to reviewthe message and try again". My APN is the default "Vodacom ZA - Internet" APN.
Any help would be so much appreciated!
I think I might do a reflash of Resurrection Remix AOKP 1.7 after doing all the wipes, and then follow this step as well.
EDIT:
Don't worry it worked! LOL. Had to reboot more than twice (by switching off and on)
Don't know how the OP got that number. I use twit88.com and I got this number that works well for me:
059172281992
I'm on MIUI.
I have a problem with SMSC as well. Whenever I want to send a message, I lose my network.
My network SMSC is: +38592092
Converted to PDU format (first 16 digits): 0591839502291100
When I enter "Testing menu" and press Refresh on SMSC, it's written without last 4 digits (059183950229, without 1100). When I enter these 4 numbers and press Update, SMS works. After first phone restart, it's dead again.
Interestingly, if I press Refresh immediately after I press Update, last 4 digits are still missing. But SMS works.
Any ideas?
Thanks OP - I had tried GO SMS Pro but that just sucked so badly! Now I can keep my Resurrection Rom after all
Thanks! You're a lifesaver!!!
The problem is back...
I had sorted this out before using the long PDU number, but this morning I tried to send an SMS and it kept failing. Then I got an SMS from Vodacom saying:
Vodacom has upgraded the quality of your SMS service. Please switch your phone off and on again for this to take effect.
Click to collapse
Now I'm back to where I was before where the phone radio cycles off whenever I try to send an SMS, and the PDU number doesn't seem to work any more.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Or better yet, anyone else got a fix?
EDIT: Just to give more information, I'm having better luck with +27829129 and none at all with +27829119. Of course when I use 0591722819921100 it shortens it to 059172281992 and doesn't hold it after a reboot.
OMW, thank you so much, this thread is PERFECT!!! You guys ROCK!! Thanks OP haha
Resurrection Remix is now PERFECT on my phone, this was the only issue.
Thanks again
Problems Smsing
Good Day Guys!
I am loving RR, but I have tried as much as possible to do the *#*#4636#*#* trick but to no avail. Irrelevant of what number I put in it won't work. I am not 100% sure as to what you mean by hexadecimal conversion, but I have tried all the numbers posted in the previous messages and none work. Am I making a n00b error somewhere, or is this a legitimate problem?

ok, I had similar issues and struggled to make sense of the whole SMSC / PDU story. The issue with this is that the leading "05" apparently dictates the length of the number that your phone would save... so I tried playing around a bit and ended up changing the 5 to a 7... and now SMS seems to work. The numbers I came out to were as follows:
0791722819921100
or
0791722819911100
SMSC number sourced from:

I'm working on a fix for this. It does not affect all people, but so far I have tried reinstalling the radio, changing to other builds, but any and all 2.2 builds I try show this. If I install a 2.1 build, it will display the number without problem.
I'll be trying to change the format of the number on the SD Card later on today. Right now mine is 1xxxxxxxxxx. I will try 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx and just xxx-xxx-xxxx to see if that displays it.
Unfortunately, after that, I have nothing else to try and it will prove that the problem is, in fact, with the roms that the devs are using.
I don't know if this is something that will help, but this is something i tried for a customer at the store i work at. He was having the same problem so i called customer care and they pushed out a text message to him saying "welcome to your new [x plan] your number is xxx xxx xxxx.
After that we restarted and it displayed his number.
Alright...so I have some bad news...
I put my sim into a blackberry and changed the number from 1xxxxxxxxxx to just xxxxxxxxxx since you can't do dashes on the blackberry in the number field...restarted the slide with the sim, and it still showed "unknown."
I decided to check the sim that was in the blackberry, and sure enough, THE NUMBER DISPLAYED!
I just called T-Mobile again to see if they could provision my old sim card from my G1 but she said that it takes 2 weeks to go through the process to reactivate an old sim, but that I can go to a store for a new one and she noted in my account to waive the $20 fee.
She also said that she has helped out a ton of TIKL users for this same issue. She did say that for some she was able to send the ota provision of the number as long as the sim is placed into a non-android phone for the ota.
I'll post back tomorrow after I go to the T-Mobile store...
So at this point I'm at a loss...
Went to T-Mobile, got a new SIM card, popped it in...phone number unknown.
Came home, called Customer Care, spoke with a tech in the PDA/Smartphone department, he tried EVERYTHING he had done to get other Android phones to display the number...no luck...
I may just have to swap the phone out...
Well, its unfortunate, but apparently this is something the powers at be (Cyanogen, Chief, etc.) are going to have to fix. There is some incompatibility between their ROM, the radio software, and the SIM cards that is causing this issue.
I am back on Chief's 2.1 build and the number shows up no problem.
I'll forward this thread to Chief and Cyanogen and see if they are able to lend any support.
Thanks, and sorry!
I wouldn't blame it on the rom just yet...
I'm not so sure this is the ROM's fault.. as i have two phones here that disprove both things you've noticed on yours. I have rooted both mine and my husband's G1's and both are running Cyanogen ROMS. I'm running CM6 and my phone number displays just fine. His is running CM5.0.8 and the phone number is blank. In fact, I think I recall my phone number being missing at some point running an earlier CM rom and it came back on it's own.. I wasn't concerned with it at the time because everything worked so I can't say for sure WHEN it came back... but I've ran through MANY CM roms starting with 4.2.13. Hubby's phone was rooted and taken straight to 5.0.7 then later 5.0.8 (he doesn't like messing with experimental roms as much as I do. ).
Next time he's home (he's a truck driver ... one of the reason's he doesn't like to take chances with his phone) I'll pop his SIM back into one of the old Sidekicks we've got laying around collecting dust and see what happens... We were going to play around with TIKL and that's when we noticed the issue....and also when I noticed that my phone showed the number again.
It's definitely an odd thing. I have not tried calling T-Mo yet to see if they can OTA the number to his phone... what's this about it having to be a non-android for this to work? First I've seen mention of that.
Currently, I'm not rooted yet, and had this problem, I thought I was the doing of a suspesius app for music download I had, I cheched all other apps, and that one was the current one that read phone state and identity, I removed it and shut down took off battery and restarted. I did it twise, and even thought I'm not sure if it was that app fault, it's solved now thanks God

Call T-Mobile, make sure you get T2 or at least a rep that sounds like they know what they're doing in customer care, and tell them you need the "activation message sent via the OTI" and you'll also need your location cancelled. Works everytime I've done it.
SamZzz: Code mentioned that this happens sporadically on phones with any 2.2 based ROM. So there is something to do with the ROMs, but no one is quite sure yet. Luckily I am not having the problem, and so far, this seems to only be an issue for those using things like Tikl that rely n the number to be "known".
I've had this problem every since I got my SECOND G1. When I had my FIRST G1 I had it in my pocket and dumped a gallon of paint all down the front of me. Needless to say I needed a new phone after that. So I got a new one and it was fine for a while but I got a refurb and still had my original, paint covered SIM. It still worked fine but after a while I stopped receiving txts so I bought a new SIM and its the one I have in my slide right now, and it has NEVER shown my number as anything but UNKNOWN. In my g1 it said unknown. I have called tmobile numerous times and they'll tell me they're gonna fix it and tell me to check it in a couple hours and it should be fixed...never works. I honestly just kinda forgot about it. But its definitely not specific to one rom, or one device for that matter.

The reason it shows that is sometimes, for whatever reason, the sim doesn't push it's assigned mobile number to the phone itself. Making it unreadable, this actually happens on blackberries, iphones, etc as well. Just ask for that activation message via the OTA and that should fix it. As I've said, I have never had it fail for me when I have a customer experiencing the problem.
i am having the same problem. although its not a BIG deal but i do sometimes like to use tikl. but if what you are saying about having the activation message sent. if i change carriers will it get fixed? im asking because i will soon be changing carriers

It certainly should. It's always been the network/sim card not telling the phone the right information. So by changing networks it just quickly resolve itself. Especially with any cancel and then an activation.

I don't know how to explain this any other way....
My phone + my sim + ANY 2.2 ROM = phone number unknown
My phone + my sim + ANY 2.1 ROM = my phone number shows up correctly
My phone + my mom's sim + ANY 2.2 ROM = her phone number shows up correctly
I've called T-Mobile customer care 7 times over 2 weeks. They've sent probably 10 OTAs over multiple days. They have gone through what they do with every other customer with this problem. They suggested I go to a T-Mobile store and get a new sim card.
I went to T-Mobile, got a new sim card, number still shows up unknown in 2.2, but when I flash 2.1 it shows up no problem. I called customer care again, and they tried over and over to get it to display without any luck. They are at the point that they want to replace the phone. I will wait until T-Mobile releases 2.2 and see what it displays...
This is happening for A LOT of people.
PS - I just flashed the stable CM6 (8/28/10) and it still displays the number as unknown.
In CM6, hit Call Settings -> Additional Settings -> My Phone Number
The issue is because there's no MSISDN written to the SIM, and no tag name for it either. I added this option because I had the same issue. Just set your number and it will write it to the SIM.

Everybody...Cyanogen HAS SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!
While my sim did have the number stored as it showed up in 2.1, doing this DOES MAKE THE NUMBER DISPLAY!

Did you wipe before you installed? If so, try flashing stable again...it is there for me...
One issue though is that upon restart the number shows up as "unknown." You have to go back through this every time you restart your phone, but hey, its better than nothing!

Interesting, the closest thing I've seen is a blackberry do it before. Can't say I've ever seen it on an android device without an OTA working. If the OTA doesn't work on a blackberry you just have to manually program your number in. Perhaps if you have a friend or pop into a t-mo store they can let you use one temporarily to set it up. My memory sucks on it but once your sim is in the blackberry I *think* it's settings > options > advanced options > sim card > my number or stored number. Something like that. If you can get it, the thing is though, the ota does the same thing. So theoretically you shouldnt have to do this if it is a sim error. The fact you're saying it doesnt happen in any other versions of android with the same sim I would agree it has to be some glitch in the s/w. How to fix it besides trying a manual program in a blackberry or any other device that lets you do so is beyond me. ;/
Recently, my phone will stop receiving text messages until I soft reset. Before posting, I tried a hard reset to see if that would fix the issue, but that did not work.
Is anyone else having similar issues with text messages?
Things worth noting:
1. I can still send messages without issue, even when I can't receive them.
2. All other data services on the phone work without any trouble (email, marketplace, zune, etc)
3. It happens even when I have full service, so it shouldn't be a connection/network issue.
4. I have a class 2 16 GB sandisk installed, which has been installed since I got the phone in November (might try a hard reset without the card to see if that helps).
It's interesting that the problem persisted through a hard reset. Right now I'm trying to determine if there's a specific set of actions that can be taken to reproduce the issue, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts.
**UPDATE**
So even after pulling the sd card and hard resetting the phone, the problem is still present. Guess I'll have to head on over to AT&T to get a replacement.
If you are having the issue, it looks like you are only able to receive 10 messages before requiring a soft reset :'(
Thanks
I'm having the same exact problem. While I was on the phone with the ATT rep, she even tried to send me a text and couldn't!
Yeah I just went through the warranty exchange process with at&t and a replacement is on its way.
My co-worker also has a focus and hasn't had any problems, and with the number of people on this forum and no other responses, I don't think it's a very widespread issue.
I'm glad I found someone else with the problem though! Solidarity man! It's incredibly annoying. I setup a cron job on my server to send me a text every 15 minutes so I know when they stop working.
I'm ready to scream. I have a Dell Venue Pro (Another Windows Mobile 7 Phone) sitting here that has been an issue since day with everything EXCEPT text messaging. I spoke with ATT rep and they "claim" its either two things for me:
1) Porting of my number still transferring. ITs been to Sprint, T-Mobile, and now ATT all within the PAST two weeks.
2) Having a Metal roof can screw up the signal. Which I think is false because I have NO problem sending out texts, calling, surfing the web.
Again, NOT a problem restarting the phone and receiving texts but after, lets say, 15 minutes and having 3 bars, it stops. Its just like how T-Mobile network acted with Dell Venue Pro with the Internet, it needed to be restarted every hour or so. I'm READY to scream! I CAN NOT believe there AREN'T others with this problem!
10 Message Limit
Oh man. Yeah the Venue Pro launch was pretty rough. I was holding out for that phone too and was going to switch to t-mo, but I didn't want to chance it with all the problems that were being reported.
I have finally found a pattern though! It appears for me that after restarting the phone I can receive 10 text messages before they stop. I found this out because as I mentioned in my last post, I setup my server to send me messages every 15 minutes. While I was sleeping, i hit my sms receipt wall and a bunch of messages "queued up". This morning I restarted my phone, and 10 messages came in, then no more. Restarted again, received another 10, and so on until all the queued up messages had been received.
So it would be interesting if you check to see if there's a hard number limit of messages you can receive.

I noticed it this morning. I was on the phone with another tech support rep last night that WAS NO help, only concluded with that, I'm suppose to go to one of their stores and switch it out with another handset. Problem with that is, I didn't purchase it from ATT since Amazon.com had it for a penny. So, that'll be a fun visit. <--sounds like I'm from the south, don't it? lol
I'm having SO much fun sending myself texts to see if it actually goes through and I receive it. Here's something to think about, the two weeks I had T-mobile, I sent out 5,689 texts. So, this feature is something I actually WANT.
Update: Swapped out the phone. I had to act like an idiot because they had NO record of my sale at the ATT store, which there isn't any since I bought it at Amazon.com for a penny.
Knock on wood, its working. Sent myself over 50 texts throughout 2 hours.
I just recently started having this problem. I didn't notice at first, I just didn't think I was receiving any text messages. I accidentally restarted the phone (crappy case) and when I started it back up I got 10 texts instantly...all from the previous day. So I thought, oh AT&T must have screwed up. A day goes by and still no texts (odd because I usually get at least 20 texts a day). So I try to send myself a text. No bueno. So I restarted my phone. 10 texts. Restarted again. 10 texts...all still from Monday (2 days ago).
I already had problems with cellular data (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867347), and now this. If this problem is being caused by the SD card too, I'm getting rid of it.

Yes, I have seen this on occasion. Seems to be random and relatively infrequent in nature for me right now though. One thing that I have noticed (and may or may not be related) is that wireless sync seems to stop working at the same time. A soft rest always makes the problem go away...
I had this problem with my 2nd focus (i dropped the first and shattered the screen) It seemed to work fine for a few hours after I got it, then stopped receiving. As soon as I'd reboot the phone, itd work till i sent about 10 messages, then stopped. I tried my sim in another phone, worked fine. So now i'm on my 3rd phone.
Id tried multiple hard resets and none of them helped - I had assumed i'd just gotten a bad phone. But it seems a more common issue than I'd originally thought. I'd tried initially to take out my SD card (Kingston 16gb Class 4) and it didnt help.
Just got this problem on my Omnia 7, so maybe it's an OS or carrier issue.

Interesting. I wonder if anyone else has had this issue on some of the htc or lg phones or if it's a Samsung only problem. I guess this means that it's not related to the sd card though!
I have since replaced my defective focus and have yet to experience any problems with the new one.
I believe I've figured out and need a few testers to verify fix. I too was experiencing same issue of not receiving more than 10 SMS text messages until soft reset. After multiple hard resets and eventual phone replacement by AT&T Technical Support, I decided to navigate the Diagnosis Codes determined to find a fix for you all. Long story short, I discovered and tested the setting that causes and fixes the issue as follows:
*#197328640#
1 Debug
8 Phone Control
7 Network Control
1 GCF
3 Setting Cancellation
End
Soft Reset phone (Reboot)
You can test by texting yourself (your mobile number)
Enjoy!
Can't access root menu with *#197328640#
Hi, I can't open my root menu using *#197328640#. Any idea? I have the same problem of not receiving SMS.

Thanks. I've been experiencing the problem too ... will test and let you know if it works for me!
I'm not experiencing this problem any more, though I can't say for sure whether it was solved due to that diagnostic menu action or the Samsung firmware update I applied later that evening.

I hope you're fix works for me too. This has been very annoying.
Good luck everyone. If v1122 of diagnosis menu has been installed due to update you can get to it by *#32489# and click on "Back" to get where you need in the menu.
Reporting back.
As long as I'm in an area with good radio penetration, the fix is a godsend.
In areas with poor radio penetration, it's no change.
So, I'll say good work tyryanjr & ATT-US
You guys improved my love of the focus tenfold today.
I should mention I am using a Rogers Branded Focus, SIM Unlocked, Dev Unlocked (Chevron), NoDo, on SaskTel's wireless network in Saskatchewan. If you are on Bell or Telus with similiar issues, give it a whirl.
To my wireless carrier, please rectify the situation, ASAP!
Hi everybody !
I've got a 3G problem since I've flashed my Omnia. My operator is an MNVO and if you don't use Chevron (and an associated program), you can't have 3G. So I was in Diagnosis in the Debug Screen mod and unfortunatelly, my Omnia fell on my leg and that active the tactile screen like I touched it. Of memory, I was in the Phone Control menu. And now I've got really big problems to recept SMS.
In fact, I can phone, sell out SMS, receive SMS. But I often receive SMS which was sell one/two/three days earlier.
Of course, I want to reset my Omnia. I havn't many datas on it, so it isn't a problem !
I see this code on the Focus forum for the hard reset -> *2767*3855#
On a French forum (... Yes I'm French ! ), they said that settings I have entered are in the hardware part, and so their can't be chaned by a reset.
So solutions are reset or correction of the problem ?
I'm really sorry for my approximative English...
And I congratulate the XDA team for their excellent job !
Thank you !
Edit : I did an hard reset with this code : *2767*3855#
The problem is the same... So I need anyone who know how to configure Diagnosis for the SMS.
If you need informations for that, isn't a problem, just ask a question and I will answer
Now, this is interesting to me. I too would like to hear if anyone has any info on this. I've had my SIM card & Focus replaced once, due to this issue. Messages might show up from 5 minuts to 5 days late, often getting 40+ messages all at once. And they are random. Some messages come through immediately while others don't. I went in again to repair center recently and they said it has to be a network issue and they are looking into it.
But now, I wonder if it's something I might have done in the Diag Menu. Only thing's I've ever changed on this recent phone is going from v5-6 and DualMode. Nothing else was touched. Could these possibly cause the issue reported above? Only thing I've been able to do is a soft reset, but that does not Always work. I've even tried to set those two options back, but still having random SMS issues.
Yes it's the same problem...
I've found on Wiki the difference between REL 5 et REL 6, but I don't think this is the problem.
For me, I don't know what I touched. After to be fall on my leg, Diagnosis was immediatly close... So I don't know what is modified.
What is "Setting Cancellation" in GCF menu ?
Are you sure that noting else was modify on your phone ?

And the default configuration is REL 5 or 6 ?
For the other parameter, I read it is disable by default, isn't it ?

Ok, I will try on my phone. Is their a difference if it is enter in Software or Hardware Mode ?
For the moment, it seems to be functional.
But yesterday after the hard reset, it was functional too, but today the problem comes back.
So I will see tomorrow...
Thanks a lot ! (even if I'm really not confiant... )

I'm not sure what you mean by entering in Software or Hardware mode.
Good luck, and if you find any answers, please post them back here and I will do the same. I'm guessing we are not the only two people with this problem.

Well I havn't the same, but I think it's because I've got an Omnia and you a Focus
I will contact my operator today to confirm the origin of the problem. Maybe I could try to do test with a Sim and a phone of a friend.

For the past few days, after a restart, I end up getting some messages. What a pain though. I've also got ATT looking at the server side AGAIN. They say 24-72 hours. I already did this last week, and nothing changed. I'm guessing they play a game of Solitare, then close the ticket. What gives them the right to close the ticket without confirming with me that it's working again? Frustrating. I've been with them for almost 20 years now, I hope they shape up soon, or, See Ya...

Maybe it's just a period. I don't know. The same day I used Diagnosis, I upgrade WP to NoDo with the Chevron Team method. Now they said that isn't a really good solution. Maybe it's introduce a bad config in the phone ? (I'm searching for every reasons...) Do you do this ?
And I introduce my SIM in another phone and my Omnia receive another SIM all the day and now it seems to be functional. But now I think in the futur days that will doesn't work... We will see...

When I received my replacement phone, it literally did the same thing on my drive home from the ATT Warranty Center. Before I got home, my wife called me asking why I was not responding to her texts. When I rebooted my phone, I had 6 messages that were not received when sent from 2 different people.
This was before I even touched the Diag Program on a brand new device with a brand new Sim. It MUST be something on the server, I just hope they fix it soon as I'm getting into hot water with people for not responding to their messages. My Dr's also send me info and I'm not getting some of those either. I've also been missing a few calls lately. I'll have 5 bars of signal, but my phone does not ring. Then all of a sudden, I've got a voicemail. strange...

I don't understand why they do nothing !
The technique of the SIM change doesn't work today. I received 5 SMS at 3 a.m... Not really cool
I will phone to my operator soon, this is my last chance.

I am in a conversation with 3 different people at the moment. If I don't restart my phone, I don't get ANY messages. When I restart, I get some of them and I need to restart again to get the rest! ATT said they would let me know on the 29th if they found any problems... That's exactly what they told me last time, but I never was told anything. When I called again the other day, they said they had closed that ticket. HUH? Without fixing anything and without notifying me or asking if I was finally getting messages? What the?
Maybe it's related with NoDo ? Well I explain :
In the same time I've used Diagnosis, I updated my Omnia with the Chevron Updater tool. And I read today NoDo was in pause for Omnia (and maybe Focus ?) because it creates many problems (if you understand French, I can give you the website ), but just on some Omnia, not all. I supposed that if my Omnia didn't receive the update, it is because it is concerned by these bugs. But since Nodo, I flashed my Omnia (so I'm with 7008 version), and I always have the problem.
So, can NoDo write on the hardware, like Diagnosis ? For me it is impossible, but I read on another website that Nodo brings some features in general, and some features with special model of Windows Phone. And for these features, I think that maybe it's possible for it to write on hardware ?
And, of course, my operator can't find a problem, but they follow this event...
Hi again folks
After getting my once almost bricked MB525 all IP and running again, I thought that I try again o move up to CM10. It kept rebooting so I thought that I'd try CM9. It installed fine and everything is running except for sending SMSs. I can receive them, make calls and browse then net fine.
I tried to set a the SMSC setting using *#*#4636#*#* but when I press update nothing happens. I have tried refresh and it gets a number but still nothing happens when update gets pressed.
Any one have any ideas please?
Have upgrade to CM10 and still have the same problem. Can't set the SMSC number.
All sorted. When I tried entering the SMSC number I tried entering the PDU number and was getting nowhere so entered the actual number, pressed update then press refresh and the number came back the same.
So basically I figure that anyone tries this and can get the update to work, you entered the wrong number and it's not being accepted so keep trying.
Cheers Folks
By the way this forum is brilliant for all sorts of info.
To start, I'm on Android 7.0 using the September security patch and am rooted.
Never had an issue with this phone before. Ever since yesterday morning I have not been able to receive anyone's text messages. I'm not sure about MMS but I haven't gotten any of those either. The weird thing is that I can SEND texts just fine....and I can also send text messages to myself and they come through.
After digging and researching I accessed that hidden settings menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* into my dialer and looking at the SMSC number which should be for Tmobile, my provider, +12063130004. However, it's blank and I'm unable to change it. Hitting "update" gives me an "update error" in the field and if I hit refresh I get "+12063130004",145 with the quotes and the 145. If I hit update from there and reboot it's still blank. If I put in +12063130004 and reboot it's still blank.
I have data, I can make and receive calls and surf the web. So far I've tried switching sms apps to no avail. I'm currently using google messenger. I've tried removing the sim and placing it back in. I went in to TWRP wiped cache, dalvich cache and data and it did nothing. Finally I reverted to a nandroid I made about a month ago when sms was working fine and it's still not working.
I'm out of ideas fellas. At my wit's end here!
Oh, I should also let you know that I think this all started when my girlfriend sent me a text message that i received yesterday morning. It was the last text I was able to get......she's on a cruise so she sent it somewhere near mexico....I think it made my phone have a massive brain fart and I'm not sure how to fix this bug. Please help!!
No one? I've found nothing on the web..
This may sound obvious, but have you tried using a factory image to return to stock?
Sounds like you've done everything but that.
I suppose you could also try deleting your APN and manually entering a correct one for your carrier. That's helped me in the past on other devices when I've had weird data/service issues.
Funny you asked. I did a full wipe and returned to stock on the latest November build. Still a no go. People still get my texts and I can still use data/make and receive calls fine. I'll try the APN suggestion now.
As far as APN's go, I tried to reset them to default. I even tried deleting all of them except for the one I was using which in the past for other devices helped with certain issues. I then created a custom APN setting that I found on the 6p forum that helped other users with SMS/MMS issues....no help for me.
I can still send SMS,mms, make and receive phone calls. No idea what to do!!!
I have a similar but different issue. I can receive messages just fine. But sometimes when i send messages id say about 40% of the time my message gets stuck at the "sending" and it takes sometimes up to 10min for it to send. I can speed the process up if i go to the secret menu and toggle the radio off and on.
Im on ATT BTW. I thought it had something to do with ATT shutting down the 2G network and the phone getting confused as to which network to send messages on but im no expert its just a theroy.
PS. I had this problem pop out of nowhere. Had it start randomly on PN6 (last build) so i upgraded to PN7 same thing on 2 different versions of the ROM. And now im on SuperAx 7.1 and still have the issue.
Ive always had problems with Nexus's and messages. When i had the Nexus 5 i actually had to warranty it out because MMS all of a sudden would not work at all.
I received one text today from someone. That's it. Not getting all the missed sms messages and not getting any additional sms messages.
