Hi,
Unfortunately I am still using stock rom. May be little afraid to screw up the phone. Anyway till sometime back when somebody calls me I used to get caller id of the person calling. Now I dsplays "Incoming Call" and does not display the number. I tried to look into many settings but could not find anything. Please help to fix it or let me know any good contact application which I can install. Initially last year I installed photo contact application, but de-installed it due to some problem I was facing (I do not remember).
Regards
try installing a new dialer or changing some of the settings in settings/phone/services/caller ID
Follow up..
Hi fzzym,
Thanks for your reply. I tried to get information at settings/phone/services/caller ID but I am getting following error "Can not read setting from the network. Try viewing setting later, or disconnect data connection and Try again."
It is working for other setting but fails only for Caller ID. I am not sure what could be the issue and when it actual started. About 1 month back I got the phone unlocked. Can that cause this issue.
What other dialer you suggest me to install.
Regards
wierd. the unlock might be whats causing it. are you using tmobile or some other provider?
i'm personally using asergs' 2g touch dual dialer, but its notoriously hard to track down
Problem fixed by Hard reset of the Phone
Hi,
I just tried to do hard reset of the phone. The problem got fixed after that.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Don't seem able to assigned a voicemail number. I go to Call Settings, click the button labelled unassigned , enter the number and click save, and the screen clears as if it's been done but it stills shows as unassigned. Have seen suggestions elsewhere that others have the same issue but not found any solutions - anybody else seen this and fixed it? Ta.
I have the same issue.
Any help to resolve this would be great.
For anyone else coming across this issue, I got a USB JIG and upgraded my phone firmware yesterday and hey presto I can assign the voicemail number now - must have been the old firmware causing the issue.
Maybe it was a carrier not allowing it to be done in their firmware. I had an unlocked but T Mobile branded phone and I could not do it either. Like you, I got the USB jig and reflashed the firmware so now my phone is both unlocked and unbranded and I could enter my voicemail number.
Yup you could be right, although another problem I had before was IE would forget my favourites - I'd save a few and then after a while it would forget them all except the default ones. So far since the firmware upgrade, none of my favourites have disappeared. Not exactly related issues I know, but still...
Hi everyone!
Been having a problem for days with SMSs not sending or not receiving or both.
came across this fix:

Your current PDU number is 059128721992 but that is too short. The actual full number is 0591287219921100 but it doesn't get recognised so the fix is to change the '05' to '07' and add the 1100 to the end so your new SMSC number is 0791287219921100
Steps:
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Select Phone Information
3) Set SMSC number to 0791287219921100 and hit Update
4) Turn radio off and back on
5) enjoy sending an sms
BUT, this fix didn't work for me, so I played around a little and found a number that worked for me. I can confirm I sent an SMS and recieved one, rebooted the phone and repeated and all was successful! Yay!
So here is the SMSC number I used:
0791722819911100
Repeat smacksakes steps but use the above number instead. (You may need to restart phone to power cycle the radio properly)
I hope this works for you! Im over the moon I can stick with CM9 and/or AOKP now
And credit to where it is due to OP!
Thanks for the PM pointing me to this post.
I can confirm that this number IS indeed working for me on Vodacom.
The funny thing is, it SHOULDN'T
I am not sure where smacksakes got the number "0791287219921100" from, because that decodes to an SMSC # of +822791291100, which is incorrect.
Vodacom's primary SMSC # is +27829119 - which encodes to a PDU # 0591722819911100.
The only difference between the above number (which SHOULD work, but doesn't), and your number, is you changed the second hexadecimal number form 5 to 7.
What you effectively did was change the LENGTH of the PDU number, which is controlled by the first two digits. Your working PDU decodes to a SMSC number of +278291191100, which is correct, except for the extra 4 digits (1100) which got added to the end because you changed the length of the number when you changed the 5 to 7.
Well done for fixing this, what made you think of changing the 5 to a 7?
Heya, thanks for the reply!
To be honest, I cant remember what made me change that. I guess I was desperate to get this working and stayed up for a few nights researching and reading up on it.
I also found the +72821991 number and converted it, then tried the "5" to "7" "trick" and it worked. I was in awe but hey, not complaining!
Edit: yea, I think I remember now, you pretty much summed it up: "What you effectively did was change the LENGTH of the PDU number, which is controlled by the first two digits. Your working PDU decodes to a SMSC number of +278291191100, which is correct, except for the extra 4 digits (1100) which got added to the end because you changed the length of the number when you changed the 5 to 7."
I kinda worked backwards in a way and played around until I got the correct length, which must be 16, kinda like having the bits to the answer and fining combinations that work
And for any other lazy b******s like myself out there, pasting it isn't gonna work, at lease not on the latest cm9 nightly... You're gonna have to type it. The horror!
Confirmation
Hi all,
I was having an issue with CM9 nightly 04/21 on sgs2 where sending sms killed the GSM connection.
After following instructions on CM Wiki for SMSC updates still couldn't fix it.
Your advice fixed it!
Thanks alot! That fixes the SMS RIL-crash bug for T-Mobile Austria Users too. I just had to replace my smsc with: 0791347606121100 and now sending sms works just fine.
Confirmed working on Hydrog3n-ICS as well. Nice job guys - I was waiting for a fix for a long time now.
Strangely enough, sometimes my SMS's just refused to send, other times it was just crashing RIL - had to delete the SMS to get RIL stable again. All working great now though.
Very happy it could help out you guys!
Thanks, but
I followed your advice step for step, as well as smacksake's advice, but my sms'ing still doesn't work. Although it did change one thing: previously it would kill the signal connection until I delete the sms. Now it doesn't, but I get an error notification (in notification bar) which says" Message not sent - touch to reviewthe message and try again". My APN is the default "Vodacom ZA - Internet" APN.
Any help would be so much appreciated!
I think I might do a reflash of Resurrection Remix AOKP 1.7 after doing all the wipes, and then follow this step as well.
EDIT:
Don't worry it worked! LOL. Had to reboot more than twice (by switching off and on)
Don't know how the OP got that number. I use twit88.com and I got this number that works well for me:
059172281992
I'm on MIUI.
I have a problem with SMSC as well. Whenever I want to send a message, I lose my network.
My network SMSC is: +38592092
Converted to PDU format (first 16 digits): 0591839502291100
When I enter "Testing menu" and press Refresh on SMSC, it's written without last 4 digits (059183950229, without 1100). When I enter these 4 numbers and press Update, SMS works. After first phone restart, it's dead again.
Interestingly, if I press Refresh immediately after I press Update, last 4 digits are still missing. But SMS works.
Any ideas?
Thanks OP - I had tried GO SMS Pro but that just sucked so badly! Now I can keep my Resurrection Rom after all
Thanks! You're a lifesaver!!!
The problem is back...
I had sorted this out before using the long PDU number, but this morning I tried to send an SMS and it kept failing. Then I got an SMS from Vodacom saying:
Vodacom has upgraded the quality of your SMS service. Please switch your phone off and on again for this to take effect.

Now I'm back to where I was before where the phone radio cycles off whenever I try to send an SMS, and the PDU number doesn't seem to work any more.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Or better yet, anyone else got a fix?
EDIT: Just to give more information, I'm having better luck with +27829129 and none at all with +27829119. Of course when I use 0591722819921100 it shortens it to 059172281992 and doesn't hold it after a reboot.
OMW, thank you so much, this thread is PERFECT!!! You guys ROCK!! Thanks OP haha
Resurrection Remix is now PERFECT on my phone, this was the only issue.
Thanks again
Problems Smsing
Good Day Guys!
I am loving RR, but I have tried as much as possible to do the *#*#4636#*#* trick but to no avail. Irrelevant of what number I put in it won't work. I am not 100% sure as to what you mean by hexadecimal conversion, but I have tried all the numbers posted in the previous messages and none work. Am I making a n00b error somewhere, or is this a legitimate problem?

ok, I had similar issues and struggled to make sense of the whole SMSC / PDU story. The issue with this is that the leading "05" apparently dictates the length of the number that your phone would save... so I tried playing around a bit and ended up changing the 5 to a 7... and now SMS seems to work. The numbers I came out to were as follows:
0791722819921100
or
0791722819911100
SMSC number sourced from:
https://help.vodacom.co.za/portal/e...source_id=14&search_keyword=&source_id=topics
converted using:

I hope this helps someone out there, since I was ready to tear my hair out
I love you man - I had this issue for almost half a year already and thought i won't ever fix it, but this is just great - thx a lot

you are very welcome Thought the same way!
- Also, this fix is permanent, having flashed many many many ROMs the PDU number stays put
Hey everyone, finally updated to NI2, and got everything working right. However, I can't change the voicemail number. It keeps reverting back to *86 even though it says it was successfully changed. Another issue I'm having is checking my voicemail. When I type the pin in, it seems like the keys aren't registering. Same goes for 1-800 numbers when you have to press the extension. I read somewhere to enable car mode and disable it, but this hasn't worked for me. I've even gone as far as reflashing back to stock completely, and I still have this issue. Any help would be great. Thanks
Edit: Ended up fixing it by changing DTMF setting to long
To start, I'm on Android 7.0 using the September security patch and am rooted.
Never had an issue with this phone before. Ever since yesterday morning I have not been able to receive anyone's text messages. I'm not sure about MMS but I haven't gotten any of those either. The weird thing is that I can SEND texts just fine....and I can also send text messages to myself and they come through.
After digging and researching I accessed that hidden settings menu by typing *#*#4636#*#* into my dialer and looking at the SMSC number which should be for Tmobile, my provider, +12063130004. However, it's blank and I'm unable to change it. Hitting "update" gives me an "update error" in the field and if I hit refresh I get "+12063130004",145 with the quotes and the 145. If I hit update from there and reboot it's still blank. If I put in +12063130004 and reboot it's still blank.
I have data, I can make and receive calls and surf the web. So far I've tried switching sms apps to no avail. I'm currently using google messenger. I've tried removing the sim and placing it back in. I went in to TWRP wiped cache, dalvich cache and data and it did nothing. Finally I reverted to a nandroid I made about a month ago when sms was working fine and it's still not working.
I'm out of ideas fellas. At my wit's end here!
Oh, I should also let you know that I think this all started when my girlfriend sent me a text message that i received yesterday morning. It was the last text I was able to get......she's on a cruise so she sent it somewhere near mexico....I think it made my phone have a massive brain fart and I'm not sure how to fix this bug. Please help!!
No one? I've found nothing on the web..
This may sound obvious, but have you tried using a factory image to return to stock?
Sounds like you've done everything but that.
I suppose you could also try deleting your APN and manually entering a correct one for your carrier. That's helped me in the past on other devices when I've had weird data/service issues.
Funny you asked. I did a full wipe and returned to stock on the latest November build. Still a no go. People still get my texts and I can still use data/make and receive calls fine. I'll try the APN suggestion now.
As far as APN's go, I tried to reset them to default. I even tried deleting all of them except for the one I was using which in the past for other devices helped with certain issues. I then created a custom APN setting that I found on the 6p forum that helped other users with SMS/MMS issues....no help for me.
I can still send SMS,mms, make and receive phone calls. No idea what to do!!!
I have a similar but different issue. I can receive messages just fine. But sometimes when i send messages id say about 40% of the time my message gets stuck at the "sending" and it takes sometimes up to 10min for it to send. I can speed the process up if i go to the secret menu and toggle the radio off and on.
Im on ATT BTW. I thought it had something to do with ATT shutting down the 2G network and the phone getting confused as to which network to send messages on but im no expert its just a theroy.
PS. I had this problem pop out of nowhere. Had it start randomly on PN6 (last build) so i upgraded to PN7 same thing on 2 different versions of the ROM. And now im on SuperAx 7.1 and still have the issue.
Ive always had problems with Nexus's and messages. When i had the Nexus 5 i actually had to warranty it out because MMS all of a sudden would not work at all.
I received one text today from someone. That's it. Not getting all the missed sms messages and not getting any additional sms messages.
