My problem is that all sounds that come out the speaker, are stupidly quiet. I have made sure the main volume is turned up, and also the individual volume controls for Music / Ringtones / Alarms etc...
If I plug headphones in, the volume is fine, nice and loud.
I am running AOKP FOR HD2 UNOFFICIAL BUILD 32.
I have tried the DSP Manager that comes in the setup of AOKP but that didnt make a difference. I have also tried this DSP Manager - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425973
Strange thing is, somehow when installing/uninstalling/re-flashing etc the sound started working properly, audio was nice and loud... But I think it was after i rebooted the phone, it went back to being really quiet.
Anyone have any ideas?
Hmm never mind, reflashed and audio is working as it should now... odd.
Found out what was messing up my speaker volume!
When I move the Dalvik cache from Internal memory to my SD card, it makes the speaker sound really quiet. If I move it back to the internal memory, the volume is nice and loud again.... Could someone explain why that might be, and if theres anything I can do to get it working properly?
Hey djsxxx,
Before flashing speaker was fine (loud). After flashing became very quiet. I did flash several times from WM6.5 to Android and never touch this Dalvik cache. Does anyone know what else may do this bug? I don't want to use WM6,5 anymore but this speaker is really annoying.
Yes, in my case when I flash ROM and use app2sd addon I also have "low sound bug". Probably because of moving Dalvik to SD Card. I need to wipe Dalvik Cache and Fix Permissions in CWM. Now it works perfectly.
What if I've never touch this Dalvik cache which I really can't find in my rom options. Anyway I did that Fix Permissions but still low ring sound
Where I can find Dalvik cache? Maybe there is a hope.
Edit:
OK it works!
I change ROM did all upgrades from begining.
what acually helps me find working ROM was telling me name for this bug: "low sound bug" so I could check google

Hi guys.
I installed new kernel, and have no sound from internal speakers. Then I reverted all back to stock rom and kernel, but still no sound.
If I move tablet right to my ear - seems sound us still working but with tiny volume. In headphones - sound working fine.
I already did full wipe, format and stock again but with no effect.
Can you help me?

same problem. Any help??
If you have already formatted and fastboot back to stock, and the speaker is still out, than you have eliminated software as a cause. Hardware problem. Rma.

Hey everyone, I have a big problem. I just flashed purity ROM for nexus 7, and I didn't like the system sounds. So I took all the sounds from another ROM that were the default JB sounds. Then I put them in system media audio, and changed the audio permissions to rw-r--r-- then rebooted. The sounds worked, but were all very quiet. Then I reflashed purity, and they were still quiet. So I flashed another ROM and did a factory reset. I also cleared cache and dalvik. The sounds are still quiet. What do I do?? I'm out of ideas.
Edit just before I did all of this I was messing around with nexus louder. Anyways I was playing some music full blast and everything seemed to be fine. Then I did all of the rom stuff and I guess it took me a while to notice the speakers. They are definitely busted, because when I play music, there is crackling but its not that audible. Please inform me as to where I can get replacements or if its possible to get better ones. Thanks.

What about if you flashed a stock image? Like directly from Google?

Okay so I flashed back to stock and cleared everything. With the volume all the way up system sounds and music still appear to be quiet. Do you think I could of busted them with nexus louder? Should I try to find replacement speakers and see if the new ones work? Is it actually possible that I could upgrade the speakers to something better?
Hi!
A couple of months after I bought zuk z1, the sound just disappeared for notifications and when music was played through speaker, the speaker would make buzzing noise and it would fluctuate. Also, the sound level would fluctuate without even me touching the volume buttons. Sometimes, when I decreased the volume and increased it, it wouldn't increase and if I decrease it to zero, then even when I would increase it to full I wouldn't hear anything.
Flashing nuclearom fixed everything except the buzzing sound. To get rid of buzzing, I installed Viper4Android but instead of fixing it has brought back all the problems that existed earlier.
Also, the problem is only with phone speaker. The headphones and everything work fine.
Please help me!! I don't think it is a hardware issue because all these problems turn up on their own and they get fixed on their own for a time being.

Seems like you have nearly the same problem with the speaker:http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/general/low-speaker-sound-t3500648
I think the sound problem could be an hardware issue

I said it's not a hardware fault because sometimes when I would clear data and cache of Audio FX and force stop it, everything would come back to normal. However it worked most of the times but not always.

And without audio fx? Did you wipe system, data every time you install other roms?
When I would force stop audio fx the sound would become normal. Yes. I follow the normal procedure before flashing roms which includes wiping everything.
I forgot to mention one more thing. The ringtones would work when there was no notification sound. And after I unlocked the bootloader, the notification sound problem was gone but the buzzing remained. I know it sounds freaky.
And if it's hardware or speaker problem the buzzing shouldn't be there at low volume. But in my phone, it's always there. In my experience, I feel like it's a software bug. When i listen to some song and it buzzes, I can notice that the volume increases and decreases on it's own as if the system is trying to create a balance.
hey there,
I use speakerphone a lot while talking on the phone and had no problem with it.
one day it stopped producing the loud volume it used to and it's REALLY LOW since then. As if it's not on speaker at all.
there's NO problem with the volume while playing/watching media; NO problem while talking on the phone with my ear near the phone or with an ear piece. ONLY WHILE IT'S ON SPEAKER.
1- it's NOT connected to any update (it started on 7.0 and yesterday i updated to 7.1.1 hoping it will help, but nothing has changed)
2- my 6P in not rooted
3- it has stock rom
4- MAYBE it's related to an app i installed called "DRUPE" which affects the phone, but it didn't start immediately and didn't get fixed after remiving this app, so i can't be sure.
5- i've tried SAFE MODE, but it didn't solve the problem
6- i've tried looking for a solution in the settings but nothing there affects the volume of the speakerphone or limits it.
7- i've wiped the cache - NOTHING
the fact that the speaker works fine during media playing shows me that it's not a hardware problem, but YOU ARE THE EXPERTS' so please help me.
Hello, I bought a Note 4 910C and immediately installed TWRP and eRobot v27 custom ROM.
Everything went nice and everything is working perfectly... Until I had to make a phone call and realised that I can't hear anything through the earpiece!!!
I've put it on loudspeaker but even with the volume cranked all the way up, I can barely hear anything...
Both the speaker and earpiece are working extremely low like the volume is set to 0,001%...
The rom is faulty. Did u do a clean install like wipe data and system abd cache and dalvik
