No sound from external speakers after installing new kernel - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I installed new kernel, and have no sound from internal speakers. Then I reverted all back to stock rom and kernel, but still no sound.
If I move tablet right to my ear - seems sound us still working but with tiny volume. In headphones - sound working fine.
I already did full wipe, format and stock again but with no effect.
Can you help me?

same problem. Any help??

If you have already formatted and fastboot back to stock, and the speaker is still out, than you have eliminated software as a cause. Hardware problem. Rma.

Lost all sound, no sound from external speaker.

I was on virtuous fusion 1.1.8 with the unity kernel v1. Everything was working fine for a few days. However, I just noticed that sound no longer comes out from the external speaker. Headphones still work and I can still hear from the front speaker when I call out but when I click on speakerphone, the phone is silent. Tried taking out the battery and plugging and unplugging some headphones but no luck.
I am sure that the volume is not muted and I have even tried a factory wipe and reinstallation of a clean fusion ROM. Did a quick Google search and saw that a few other mt4g users reporting the same problem on the tmobile forums but never saw a fix. Anyone have any ideas? Is this some unfortunate hardware defect?
If I need to rma, I'm guessing I should unroot and reflash the stock rom, correct?

First try to plug in and unplug the head phones a few times thben check for sound from the speaker
Second turn on a song in a music player and then lightly blow into the speaker! If it comes on when you blow then the speakers bad. If not its probably a software issue
MTD (EL30)
BLENDED CLEAN GB 1.12 With Various mods
SHADOW V3.0
(in the voice of lil john)
YAAAYUUUUUHH!!!!
Ok so I tried plugging my head phones in and out and the didnt work. then i played the music without the headphones and blowed into the speakers and still no sound (also no vibration either). I factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik and flashed CM9 Beta 1, and still no sound.
Might be a bad jack. Take it to a Sprint store.

[Q] sound not working

My sound just recently stopped working randomly.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
1. Multiple ROM changes
2. Checked volumes
3. Plugged in headphones (this actually produces sound)
No headphones icon
Current rom: Flexreaper

Could be hardware problem.
Does volume control work with rocker switch?
You could pop the back off and check speaker connections, wires etc.
Use a magnifying glass to check. Especially contacts around headphone jack.
Maybe a little careful poking around with a pencil eraser while the tablet is playing sound.
Good Luck with your problem
Sounds like a hardware issue.
You could try rolling back to HC3 via TD's V.4
But probably a hardware issue.

Im having the same issue coming up from hc3 to the new ics slim on A500. sound was out before upgrade just went all of a sudden, has yet to return but head phone jack works fine. tried every thing too, want to isolate the chunk of programing that controls audio and flash random potential fixs in.
Sound pop/crack
I have installed pjsports version of Android 4.3 [CM10.2 Unofficial] Build 6 on my a500 tablet.
The sound works great until i put the tablet in sleep mode. After waking up the tablet the sound system is broken. The sound is coming out but every second I ear loud pop/cracking noise and the video (or application) slows down to a crawl.
Does anyone experience similar problems ?
I believe I have read that this happens when too many apps running in the background

nexus louder busted my speakers?

Hey everyone, I have a big problem. I just flashed purity ROM for nexus 7, and I didn't like the system sounds. So I took all the sounds from another ROM that were the default JB sounds. Then I put them in system media audio, and changed the audio permissions to rw-r--r-- then rebooted. The sounds worked, but were all very quiet. Then I reflashed purity, and they were still quiet. So I flashed another ROM and did a factory reset. I also cleared cache and dalvik. The sounds are still quiet. What do I do?? I'm out of ideas.
Edit just before I did all of this I was messing around with nexus louder. Anyways I was playing some music full blast and everything seemed to be fine. Then I did all of the rom stuff and I guess it took me a while to notice the speakers. They are definitely busted, because when I play music, there is crackling but its not that audible. Please inform me as to where I can get replacements or if its possible to get better ones. Thanks.

What about if you flashed a stock image? Like directly from Google?

Okay so I flashed back to stock and cleared everything. With the volume all the way up system sounds and music still appear to be quiet. Do you think I could of busted them with nexus louder? Should I try to find replacement speakers and see if the new ones work? Is it actually possible that I could upgrade the speakers to something better?

im thinkin maybe my loud speaker has gone and needs replacing
Try plugging and unplugging headphones a few times, make sure they click all the way in
Might be thinking the headphones are still connected when they're not
