Ok I followed a walk through on a different blog (as requested by my friend who's phone it is). I unlocked the bootloader with no issues. I also installed CWM. Now I loaded a new ROM to flash on the external SD card. However when I boot into CWR it only reads the internal storage. I cant get it to read the external SD so I cant flash the new ROM. Any tips or suggestions? I can't get the phone to boot into anything right now.

Which recovery are you using?
I wouldn't go for Touch recovery. It's easier to do something in error when using the touch screen.

I've been having a lot of problems getting my tmobile vibrant into cwm recovery,
i flashed recovery through cwm and selected boot into recovery. when i get into recovery and select reinstall packages, I get mixed messages.
i tried flashing cwm with the initial update.zip it puts on the sd, little bar shows up at the bottom and gets about 1/3 of the way, and says
E:/failed to verify whole file signature.
installation aborted.
Went into clockworkmod folder on my computer retrieved the recovery-update.zip, renamed it update.zip. I tried putting both of these files on the sd card root, /external_sd, phone internal memory and the sd folder on the phone. nothing works
Am i doing this wrong?
Have you tried the fix permissions option in CWM? I have had strange errors like that before and that helped.

Go into SuperUser and see if it runs. It sounds like you lost root. If that is the case you may need to re-root it.
What do you mean you flashed recovery through cwm? If you can already use cwm you shouldn't have a problem.
Have you tried downloading ROM manager from the market? You will need to have your phone rooted to install cwm through ROM manager.
U r probably on the 3e recovery and have to get back the 2e recovery don't odin back to 2.1

You probably just need the steps of putting it into shell root > script from 3e recovery to 2e recovery, then you're good to go.
I just odined a new kernel and after that, my phone went into cwm recovery and i flashed nero v.3. everything works great.
PLEASE USE THE CWM UPDATE BY KOUSH ONLY.. ALSO, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT CWM VERSION 5.5.0.4 has been reported to have some freeze issues, contact Koush and forward a logcat or provide information so he can resolve. Today I noticed That Koush Has released CWM 5.5.04 for Our device. So simply You can Download Rom manager from Market and then just install the CWM.

Reboot to recovery messed up my tab, so it would only boot into recovery (booting to Android was done manually).
works either manually or via market app reboot to recovery, via ClockworkMod restart the system, is not in recovery

Seems like I'm missing something.
The linked .img file is a blob file with the SOS partition. It can be flashed through the staging partition. If you extract it or strip out the header, it will be a regular .img file that can be flashed through cwm (with a little work).
I haven't flashed it yet.

mine flashed fine from rom manager pro on Eos-tf101-5 All menu's seem to work fine, but there is no external SD access only internal. Still can't access recovery from rom manager but that's the same standard issue with the rom.

Flashing the IMG via NVFLASH broke recovery for me. Installing it through ROM Managers works fine.

Today when I see there's an update on CM9 I downloaded it and when I go to reboot into recovery it doesn't. It sends me into the boot screen that you would hold the "n" button down for a menu rather than sending me straight to CWR. When I choose recovery from that menu it asks me if I want to return to factory.
Confused, I reboot and try to go to CWR through CWM and it does the same thing. I try to flash recovery through CWM and it doesn't.
I'm confused. What happened to recovery? How can I get it back?

If you have followed exactly what describing in the link you provided there, no more no less, then I would strongly say that what you said in your thread makes absolutely no sense.
Here is the point.
You downloaded and created a flashable CwMR uSD and place those zip files in there. NOTE: the ClockworkMod Recovery is ON your uSD. With the card inserted, yes, it would boot into CwMR. That means with the card removed, there is NO CHANCE that it could boot into CwMR just simply because it isn't there. Again, with the card removed, and you were able to boot into CwMR, then you must have flashed it, CwMR, into eMMC somehow, which not what the instructions shown.
Conclusion:
If CwMR has NOT been flashed into eMMC and only resides on the external uSD card, without it inserted, your NC could never boot into CwMR.
To the letter. But I found and image of recovery, put it on the SD card. Went to Rom Manager and flashed it. All is well.

Well, not sure if I can get you up and running. This is going to depend on if you followed traditional installation instructions that are posted on every thread that contains a Rom.
But first, let's cover where you went wrong. And that would probably be when you went back to Recovery. It seems, you didn't hit Vol - and PWR, but instead selected Vol + and PWR. And as such, it tried to run an update.zip file, which is a no-no. This resulted in a corrupted image.
Secondly, Rom Manager is a phone app. This will in most cases, bork your tab.
First, I would try Acer Installer (newest version) and try to install RA Recovery. If you were using CWM before, you probably can't flash it again.
If that doesn't work, then you will have to roll back from ICS, and you will need your original UID number. Hopefully you wrote this down somewhere. If you were using RA Recovery, you will find the UID number in the UID.txt on your SD Card in the Recovery folder (if you made a system backup before flashing ICS roms). If you were using CWM, well, it might be buried in one of the .img files in the clockwork folder (again, if you made a backup before flashing ICS). You will have to de-compile the image files to find it (hopefully).
If your ADB seems to be working, you may want to push the RA Recovery;

Hope you get it going. From what I have seen, mostly when the people lose their recovery, they were using CWM. Haven't heard of any losing it when using RA Recovery. But anyhow, use Acer Recovery first, and try the RA Recovery.
Hey all, I just did something stupid and well long story short I can't downgrade/upgrade or get stock recovery.
I'm running 3.2.1, No root or anything. Some reason I don't have the stock recovery so flashing update.zip is impossible. I was able to get the v9 bootloader on but thats it (I know its for ICS+). I've been searching and downloading non dead links trying to get this to work.
I was able to boot the device but now its locking at the lock screen. I can get into APX mode or to the main v9 bootloader options. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction to get this fixed? I have the root-3.2.1-V4 package also.

Sounds like you can do this;
1. Go to Blackthunders listing for roms. Grab a ICS Full Rom for the 500. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560
2. Get a CWM (latest version) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425 , sroll down to "manual flashing". Download the V8 multi cwm package. Unzip it to your PC.
3. With the tab booted to the V9 bootloader, connected and make sure windows recognizes it.
4. Then in that folder, open a CMD window. Type in the following (I assume the CWM image files are there)
fastboot flash recovery xxxxxxxx.img
(xxxxxxx.img is the name of the Thor CWM recovery image file)
Hit enter and it should flash. Then go back to the V9 bootloader, and select the Recovery option, and see if it boots to the cwm recovery. If it all works, then the rest is easy.
Copy the rom you downloaded to your external SD card, Boot to CWM recovery, and Install zip from external SD card. Should install (if it's a full rom) and when it re-boots, it should be a stock ICS system.

I actually got it back working. I used the apx tool and got the v9 loader with team win cause it's the only one I found that well actually mount the sd card. Got Thor's Rom and flashed. I was going to try to go back stock but was way easier to do it this way. I appreciate your help. Bookmarked for next time my fat fingers get ahead of my brain!
