[Q] OC Kernel for GT-P6810 - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

I've been using a Galaxy Note (GT-N7000), which has a booming development community, for weeks. However, the Tab 7.7 was so impressive, I just had to get one. However, I don't think I was quite prepared for the lack of development on this device. I've searched for an OC kernel, but can't find one. Am I overlooking something?

Ain't no kernels yet. Enjoy the device now and someday Samsung will drop an ICS update and everything will be just perfect.

Goddamned Honeycomb! Honeycomb is the bastard child of an affair between Android and closed-source development. I can't wait for a fully AOSP build for the 7.7.

Ice cream sandwich released Oct or Nov

Anyone see this article? Think we would get some options for fascinate with this? Also rumor has it that when this is released they are going to release the kernel source code for gingerbread which would make the custom roms that much better. Can't wait to see what we got. I'd post this in development section but I don't have rights there yet.

I don't understand the point of this thread. All Eric Shdmidt said was that ICS would be released October/November. Not sure where your getting your rumours from, and we don't know if ICS will be avaliable officially or unofficially for other phones.
Wasn't looking for an asshole reply but thanks anyway

Phew!! you should consider yourself lucky you didn't post this in dev.... The source for gingerbread mesmerize kernel has been out for a week. And some changes/fixes have already been implemented in some stuff. Mainly mtd roms.
good day.
Well I did say fascinate which I know the kernel hasn't been released yet cause there is not an official Verizon gb rom.

It seems you haven't been around long. But on the VZW fascinate the kernel is identical to the uscc mesmerize. So when the mesmerize got froyo and kernel source was released we had fun custom kernels on the facinate based off of ec10. And when the vzw fascinate kernel source was finally released. No one made a kernel off of it because it was the same code. Now we find history is repeating itself. Mesmerize get upgrade (gingerbread), source released, and devs for fascinate use source to fix things and make kernels for the vzw facinate.
good day.

Also keep in mind that the Dev section is not for rumors. It's only for posting roms, kernels, mods, etc. So when you do have permission to post there, please don't post this kind of stuff.

Not known which phones? It's pretty widely known that the Nexus Prime series will be the first phones to run ICS, namely the Droid Prime by Samsung.

It's not gonna be called the Droid Prime. This has already been established by many many sources.

I believe there are seven devices that will have ICS (some of them are obviously not out yet):
- Nexus Prime
- Nexus S
- Nexus One
- Droid RAZR
- Droid Bionic
- Transformer
- Transformer Prime

Request for AOKP on Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7

I wish i was a developer myself then i wouldve worked on porting the aokp rom on this device. The honeycomb lag is driving me nuts and its also limiting the hardware capabilities of this device. Is there anyone out there who agrees with me and wants a aokp rom cooked for this device?

Is ICS Jesus?
Lol

Me too, strongly wish that akop will be ported here.

Yes, I agree, AOKP is "needed" on this device!
theres aokp for 10.1 and 8.9
the 7.7 is unlocked / rooted right? why can't aokp be easily ported over?

Hardware is totally different, kind of in its own league.

we can request AOKP developers to make for us.
And we need offical CM9 also! Tab 8.9 and 10.1 has offical CM9
We have ICS! Now let us pray for AOKP ;-)

Yup, that's some good news.
Perhaps we can even start an ICS AOKP ourselves and KANG the KANG ?
Can someone help m eunderstand benefits of this wonderful thing?

CM9 devotee here. I can care less about AOKP really, but the more rooms the better for the tab I guess.

Are the dev looking upto porting the note 2 software on oroginal note???

I guess out n7000 is still capable to run the softwares on the note 2. Can we port the note 2 touchwiz and other s memo apps on our note? Are the devs looking forward to it. Or will samsung force us to abandon our beloves devices for note2. For me my n7000 still is out performing to everything i throw at it.

Innovation

Hi guys. I don't post here much but have been on XDA for a few years with different devices. Now on the gs2 on cm10.1 with dori 9.3. My phone is faster and has more features than my ladies gs3. Having a nose around the forum there are lots of new ROMs popping up. This is no bad thing but they all seem very similar, borrowing feature sets and bases from more established ROMs. Most of the cm based releases perform the same.
I'm not complaining (far from it) I just think we need some sort of injection of innovation to make things exciting again. Ubuntu promises a bit more fun but is a while off being a daily driver.
Do you think android is getting stale as an OS or do we have lots to look forward to?

I'll take a look. Thanks.

[DISCUSSION] What do you guys think about OmniRom?

Hey guys, what do you think about OmniRom? I find it pretty cool, and i think that we should have it ported. I find it better than CyanogenMod,and i think it will get more features from time to time, and it will be more stable than any other roms. Big names of XDA built this ROM,i think that their work is almost flawless. Please, give your Opinions

I have it on my tf300t. It doesn't have all of the goodies yet because it is still alpha, but for now I find AOKP better.
Well it will have someday
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Believe me it will be better than other big rom over time. Lots of xda BIG developer are working on making it better.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk
I just want our device to have as many roms as possibe especially stable miui v5
so far what i read about Omni it seams great Project... but i still did not test it
i totally support an Idea to port it on out S3mini,
maybe we should get Maclaw drunk and seed this idea into his brain (aka. Inception)
i would like to boot it here ;P
I have Omnirom on my TF300t for 3 weeks now and it is as snappy and sleek as it was the first day. All other roms I had on tf101, tf300t, sgs1 and sgs 3mini had tendency to become laggy after 2-3 weeks up to a point when device was unusable. This rom just doesn't know lag at all. It has some quirks and lack of settings, but it is alpha. Now scanno works on Kitkat Omni rom.... That will be a treat.
