My main requirement is gaming, music and good application support.Which will be better of the two.
I wouldn't get the play. From what I've read, and from what people have told me, the screen is terrible...that being said, go with another android phone! The samsung galaxy s2 is one of the highest rated phones I've ever seen. reviews have been insanely good
Xperia play!!!

I have the play in the MediaMarkt tested and the screen was actually very good.
But I would much prefer the GalaxyS2, because its a very cool phone.
I've tried the play, yes, the screen could be better, but its better than X10's, and the gaming controls are just awesome! (and I don't even game)

Sgs 2. You can't go wrong with it.
Of the two : depends on what you need. If you require smooth fast ui go for the iPhone. Otherwise go for the play.

None?
Outdated processor, worse screen, etc....
Better camera maybe (I even doubt that, the new sgs2 camera is supposedly awesome).

Its time to purchase a new phone and i am looking at the Samsung Galaxy SII. Can someone please outline whats good/bad about the device and how the development is going? I can see that there is a lot of stock ROMs avaliable for it but will there be ROMs like CM7 and Sense, as it will take a while to port ROMs to its processor as it has to be done from scratch
I'd really recommend you to wait for a bit
Wait for the google Phone by Motorola
OR I'd say go for a ARC
What do u want in a phone ?
Best to go and ask people in galaxy s forum? Afterall they do own the phone.

I'd say go for a HTC device then
They have many many devs
They have the latest Specs and I mean "fast"
Don't go for Samsung
sgs2 is awesome.... The screen is vivid, it's dual core so it will be more future proof and because it is the biggest selling android phone of all time there will be tons of development. Also samsung is very well known to support development and custom roms, hiring the cyanogen mod developer, etc...
do not get an arc, there have been a lot of problems with the build, the housing has been cracking for a big number of people who bought them.
What about the htc sensation.

Compared to the x10 i think its harder :/

hahah I did it in like 2 minutes, it was no harder than flashtool...
There is one program that s-off and roots your device, just like flashtool.
The reason x10 is so easy is because we don't have an unlocked bootloader, so we use flashtool for everything.
On htc phones you can flash full custom roms which include kernel, and you can also flash different radios.
It is literally no more difficult, and much better imo. Say if you break your usb port, you aren't screwed like you are with an x10.
I learned everything in about 5 minutes, read one small tutorial.

What he said.....or just wait a bit for newer. But the sgs2 is certainly not a bad choice.
I'm probably going to get a sgs2 because I've had my vibrant for the longest time I like the super amoled screen but I wish it was bigger

Probably the most important thing I want in a phone is support from developers. Xperia Arc doesn't have alot of devs while SGS2 is flooding with devs and custom roms

You are a funny man.
i suggest you wait and see the upcoming new releases of phones by other brands. Samsung Galaxy SII seems quite uninteresting. i feel x10 could do better in general. Samsung is not on 'my-favourite-brands' list. but, i have to admit Samsung Galaxy SII is not so bad, better than average smartphones, i believe.

You must be drunk if you think the galaxy s2 is a minor upgrade from the x10. If that's so then the arc is not even an upgrade just a tweak.

100 versions of diff stock roms is hardly interesting lol
Of the three android phones I've owned, x10 had the least development and is dwindling quickly

I think in term of quantity you're definitly right but what about the quality, on that way the last (survivors) X10 devs are pretty good, get friends who are changing roms almost every week on others phones because nothing is really "perfect".

there are plenty of roms on here like that too
Moved to HTC evo 3d and loving it. Still miss my x10 but it is really nice to just be able to run stock with no real need to root or flash roms because I'm actually happy with the software and the hardware.

What can a dual or quad core phone do that our X10 can't? Better gaming and HD video on a 4 inch screen??? Wow, but not a reason to spend hundreds of dollars... for me anyway.
My X10a will keep me happy until my next free upgrade.

Xperia Mini small size, 1GHz cpu (overclockable up to 2GHz), 512 MB RAM, ICS update from SE, official CyanogenMod support, multitouch (i really miss this on my synaptics X8), good price - cca 150 euros
Xperia Play €149 here

X8
X10 -> 5MP + autofocus
X10 mini pro has cypress 5 mp camera. Keep the x10 mini pro bro.
keep both
x10 mini pro is better all of us know (x8 is ahead in that it is mdpi)
BUT our community is BIGGER !!!
yea the only thing thats making it hard to decide is the screen res on the X8, i love the camera on the X10MP, only bought it to repair....but it was just a faulty battery...well i've fallen in love with it tbh!

Bro,
Me can see why its hard for u to choose, because both of it has almost same hardware.Other lacks is overcome by other. In short way,Its complete each other.
In this case me suggest u keep the most had sentimental values for u.The one u bought first, always with u,gift from somebody or anything that will make u miss it most if they are gone.If we cant decide by physiology, we should consider from psychology side.
Hope this will help.
You should keep X8 , because has better screen than x10 mini pro
